I used Total Wine to order wine, beer, and ginger beer for my June 2026 wedding. It was a fun experience getting to taste and choose which wines you want at the initial consultation. Unfortunately after that I had a lot of issues with the special event team being unresponsive. I would have to wait weeks for a reply, even after sending multiple follow-up emails. There was a large discrepancy in the price quote I received and thankfully I caught it and got it corrected. On pickup day, I thought my order would have been already counted out and ready to go, but none of the quantities on the cart they rolled out were sorted. The cashier was confusing me, scanning bottles and not setting them aside, asking what I ordered, when it really should have been on them to know that. It was very stressful and I ended up buying more than I ordered. There are still significant pros to using them- they have an excellent bulk order discount and the fact that you can return unopened bottles is great. Plus, you can't beat the selection. I don't regret using them, I just wish my experience was better and I hope they improve for future brides/event planners. read more

Went in for their free saturday wine tasting. Tried abt 6 different white wines, all were really good. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They do the tastings from 12-6. I saw before I left they were setting up some beer tastings as well, I'll definitely be going back for those. read more

My usual wine spot, 201, recently closed so I had to find a new place to get my wine. I will admit that I was not initially a fan of Total Wine. Then, my mind was changed on a recent visit on Christmas Eve. Yes, I ventured out on Christmas Eve to get a last-minute gift. The customer service was amazing. I did not feel like it was a holiday. Instead, I had a "personal shopper" help me patiently select several wines. A friend mentioned that curbside is available. Oh my! Who would have thought about making wine pickup so easy? Brilliant. Great prices on a vast selection of wine and beer and highly knowledgeable staff. If I go to find a specific bottle of wine I may have tried at a restaurant and on the rare occasion they don't carry it I am often given the option of several similar options and usually at a competitive, often cheaper, price. The one thing I really like are the little staff recommendation cards. While shopping you will notice there are cards throughout the store with staff pictures and their name and the card claims that wine as that specific staff members favorite. Once you connect with a staff member, through trial and error of course, with similar taste then it is easier to try other wines with a higher level of confidence you will like it. I will typically go for something specific but will also grab a bottle of a staff recommendation for fun. I also recommend the classes, if and when they resume post-COVID. I was looking for a specific Pinot Noir wine and called ahead and talked to Eric. When I arrived he told me he had visited the Willamette Valley in Oregon and been to many of the better known Vineyards. It didn't take me long to realize Eric is the Pinot Noir expert here. I explained these were gifts, and after we talked through the various options I settled on 3 different types. It's rare to find someone here in the South that has actually been to Oregon specifically to check out the Pinot Noir wines so I got a good education on the viticulture of the Willamette Valley. read more

This store is in a prime area. There is plenty of parking as they are in a shared, larger shopping center. It's a very large store. The store is well lit, and fully stocked. There are several staff that are hired to work here and assist. However, their assistance is limited based on your skin tone each staff member does as they wish with no accountability. Staff are not properly trained or screened for employment. Staff have their own biases which negatively impacted how they work with select customers. I came to make a purchase and was provided assistance for a limited time. Staff stopped assisting me as soon as Caucasian man came and needed help. Staff didn't even say that he was not gonna help me anymore they just walked away. He just ran over to the other person mid sentence as though he was some celebrity. I was very surprised. So I saw assistance from someone else. They repeated the same actions. Hope your experience was better than mine if you choose this location. I followed up with corporate as I was disgusted with the interactions that I experienced. I also spoke to management in store as well to voice my concerns. It appears the following deaf ears, which is why I reached out to corporate. All money is green. I hope this location has worked through their issues. read more

I ordered 10 bottles of a 2019 wine on the website. I drove 25 miles to get it. I did the curbside service. When they put the bottles into my car, I checked it. All 10 bottles were 2021. When I asked, they said it's non-vintage. The bottle clearly says 2021 on it and Robert Parker rates them by year. I won't be back. read more

There is a great selection of wine in beer here in a grocery store like layout. In addition to brands you are used to seeing in grocery stores, they have many other unique selections. Most of the wines have small descriptions and ratings to help you choose. Of course the staff is always ready to help as well. I don't like it quite as much as the Florida stores because they can't carry spirits. read more

I've always been a fan of total wine for the rewards and the large variety. Sometimes if I want specific wines it's hard to find them. They never have any Priorat wines for instance. There was a weird exchange with an associate once regarding champagne. New Year's Eve we go in and ask for a 2009 Dom and the guy says they only have another vintage. I brought up the screen to show that it said they had some in stock in the store and he said something about them being chilled in the back? Soooo were you guys chilling some dom in the back to take with you at the end of your shift? It was just odd I love the order online and pickup feature. I went here for my first time not too long ago. So much to choose from, but you don't feel rushed by anyone. The staff is really helpful and polite and they have little cards saying their personal faves (super cute idea). I love the fact that they have so many wines in different price ranges. My wife and I have two small boys with limitless imaginations and Red Bull in the veins energy, so we drink A LOT of alcohol. I've been coming to this store at least once a week for the past couple of years, and have been relatively pleased with the service, selection, and the prices. They've adapted to the clientele over time too as exhibited by the store going from 90% wine/10% beer to roughly 50/50 over the past year or two - it's a sign of smart management. Management is probably that smart because they use the $1000's of dollars I spend there to take state of the art bio-metric training courses on evaluating and satisfying customers. Seeing as how I've spent enough money here to put the staff through grad-school in Singapore, I'd love to see some type of loyalty rewards program. If I was racking up points for all the booze I've purchased here, I'd be swimming in a pool of cabernet on my yacht made of beer bottles. The tip everyone should heed though, is to get on their email mailing list. The frequency of email blasts is tolerable and they'll occasionally run coupons making their very competitive prices even more attractive. Not too long ago they ran a $1 off every beer 6-pack priced $6.99 and up... wound up stocking up and saving $12-$15! Can't remember the exact details of the coupon or how much I saved, I drank most of it when I got home. read more

Meh, it's a Total Wine. The Starbucks of the wine and beer world in my opinion. This location doesn't really stand out for me from the rest and that's not really a bad thing but it's the truth. Clean store, plenty of wine and a beer selection that your average beer nerd will be good with for sure. I usually have ok experiences here but this past time wasn't that great. I wanted to buy a nice bottle of rose' for a girlfriend for her birthday and I needed help with it. I was looking around and wasn't sure which direction to go. I was in the wine section walking around. They weren't busy at all since it was a weekday in the early afternoon. I saw a sales associate walk into the same aisle as me and I was asking her suggestions for some rose' and she seemed very agitated and annoyed that I asked. She pretty much pointed at the areas to go and not actually guiding. I was asking her about dry rose' and she was being super rude as if it was an obvious question. I finally just walked away. I found an area where rose' could be an one of the wine managers walked up to me asking me for help. I told her what I was needing help with and told her how rude her associate was. She ignored my comment about the rude associate but she did help me pick out a couple bottles of wine. I got my wine and a few beers and checked out. As I was waiting to check out and it was finally my turn, the lady at the cash register looked at my order and told me she couldn't ring me up because she didn't know how. Wow, really? Considering I was waiting in line and there was two people in front of me. So I had to wait again until someone came over to take over her position. This is definitely not my go to place for next time I find alcohol. read more

If you enjoy employees on a power trip, this is your place. They can only get away with this behavior because they don't have as much competition nearby. I shopped at Lowe's, HD, Harris Teeter, and Target within the same week without being treated so rudely. They have no need to force people to continue to participate as actors in a theatrical performance. Instead, maybe take a moment to learn how your HVAC air handling affects the health of your patrons and staff. Ironically, they prove their fakeness by doing nothing about sanitizing their shopping carts. They also care nothing about the environment since they are STILL discouraging patrons from using their own shopping bags. The hypocrisy is in effect here more than any other business right now. Please read all coupons carefully as they rarely apply to name brand items. Don't fall for the private label scam. If you're not looking for a local, kitschy bottle shop - go to Total Wine. This location is conveniently placed in the Promenade, parking is pretty easy, most of the front row spots are "30 minute parking". The staff here is friendly and helpful, (even when you're looking through their 2014 selection of Butternut and praying that they have a 2013 buried in there). They usually have a tasting of some kind going on, could be beer or wine. They have a HUGE selection of locals, that I love. The growler station is fantastic and usually stocked with locals that you can only find in kegs - the growlers aren't that expensive, because if you're like me, your growler is sitting in the kitchen instead of with you in Total Wine. Oh! AND if you buy a case of wine, you usually get a discount - winner winner wine for dinner! This is my preferred location because its on my side of the woods, and Ballantyne doesn't have a great bottle shop, besides Butcher's Market. They'll do their best to help you find whatever it is that you're looking for - and if they don't have it, they'll offer an alternative. Yay for Total Wine!! read more

We were not big wine drinkers but looking for one as a gift and found a great wine at a great place. It's also a craft beer galore, able to keep my beer belly satisfied. Total Wine, what's not to love? They, by far, have the biggest selection in Charlotte and in my experience, the best prices. We were even able to find some Sonoma wineries here that we visited last year, so that was really cool - plus their prices were lower than buying from the winery. They also have a good selection of local and not-so-local beer. If you're looking for something new (like Hard Orange Soda like I was), they've got it! I don't think the beer selection is quite as wide as at some other locations, it just seemed like there was less shelf space allotted to beer. Like the other locations you won't find much in the way of hard to find or rare beers, but for readily available stuff it's a decent place. For a "big box" store, this place is pretty neat. Me, I like wine, but I love beer. Great beer selection at fair prices. Wish they still carried Arcobrau dark but I won't hold it against them. You can make your own six pack, so you don't have to commit to a beer you may or may not end up liking. They had some tastings going on the last time I was there. I love their curbside delivery but the lady who delivered for me was horribly horribly rude. She was middle aged/ older and had a pixie cut with blonde hair. She didn't say hi she simply said Id and when I showed her my Id as my passport (my new id is being shipped in the mail. I figured a passport is more legit than a temporary paper license) she questioned my ability to be driving a car? She was very rude in how she spoke and I left feeling horrible. Looking for a few specific reds, I was greeted promptly when I walked through the front door and introduced to Kalen, the wine manager. She was incredibly knowledgeable about where the wines came from, the winemakers, and the flavor profiles of each wine. With this knowledge and her discovery of my preferences, she was able to recommend similar wines with confidence. I purchased the Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon, the State Lane Corley Cabernet Sav from Monticello Vineyards, the Torial Red 2014, and the Macchia Petite Sirah. The name says it all. I'm more into the "& More" part than the wine part. I really enjoy craft beers and this place has them along with all kinds of other beers. A really nice selection of craft beers, you can create your own 6 packs. They obviously have plenty of wine to choose from as well. Lots of drinking accessories too.
