I'll contact corporate with the details of my experience but I can now understand why there is such discrepancy in the reviews for this location. I had an experience that was shocking. One employee and one bad experience can really affect the view of a business. I've been a long time customer of BevMo and started to transition over to Total Wine since they opened this Culver City location. Overall, the experience and the knowledgeable staff has been great, but after an experience with one of their managers the other night, he single handedly ruined their brand for me. This class was so informative. I really enjoyed learning about the different regions of France that produce champagne learning about the grapes that go in it. I wish I could remember the instructor in his assistance name, but I can't and I'm so mad about that because I usually always write their names down, so I can't forget. Walking in they had snacks and fruit plates, water bottles at our tables brochures to write in our thoughts in our notes on the different wines. Instructions on how to Approach the Wine. See, swirl, sniff, sip. The different glasses, how champagne and sparkling wine is still at its heart of wine. It was a lot of fun. I took my brother and we had a great time and then they gave us 20% off the wines so I got my favorite wine which was the Marie de Moy brut champagne from France. It is a French champagne that was dry with flavors of apple pear a medium body champagne that really packed a punch. That was my favorite. My second favorite was the Mailly Brut Grand Reserve Cru. And that was a dry, cherry, medium bodied champagne. It was just delicious. I am signed up for another class on my birthday August 7. Staff were extremely rude, they followed us through the store until we got to the checkout line. My friends and I were checking out separately and they wouldn't let me purchase because someone in a different group making a purchase didn't have their ID on them. The cashier had no intention on being helpful. When I brought up the fact that they were kids in the store, he said that kids are allowed to be in there, which doesn't make sense because he said they treat it like a bar. Overall, staff was useless and I wouldn't recommend shopping here unless you wanna waste your time. read more

The 90-minute class was held upstairs and hosted by the store manager along with another staff member. We sampled 8 Winery Direct wines (ranging from $12.99 to $29.99), each paired with a different snack. The class was relaxed, the guests were friendly, and it was a great opportunity to try wines I might not have picked on my own. While it's not an all-you-can-drink event, they did offer a little extra splash of your favorite at the end. Let me start by saying, until today, my wife and I have had nothing but excellent experiences at this location. We shop at the location regularly, and all of the staff we have interacted with have been friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Between the two of us, we spend a lot of money there. We have also attended 4 wine tasting classes there in the past, and each time has been very enjoyable. Tonight though, we had a truly shocking experience. We were the first group of 4 to arrive for a wine class. We were greeted with a not so friendly person, who seemed annoyed that we arrived 20 minutes before the start time. We were told we could wait off to the side, and so we were sitting in the seats waiting. Another older woman arrived, and then all of a sudden, Andrew who seemed increasingly upset about something, came to the 5 of us, and said we all had to go back downstairs and wait there. At this point it's about 12 minutes before the start of the class, the food and everything was already set up, so we asked why. We told him that we were regulars, and wanted to know why he was making us go back downstairs, as that was never how they operated in our other occasions there. This really seemed to trigger him, and he said "well you can just not attend the class at all ". We asked him why he was being so rude, and he then told us to leave immediately. We all looked at each other in disbelief. We went downstairs and heard from another group of very nice older ladies, that Andrew had also rudely reprimanded them for trying to come in to the class early as well. On our way out, we ran into Mario, who has taught a couple of our classes and was amazing. We told him what happened, and he apologized for our experience. We think he should be the wine manager, because he's so great, and we really loved his classes. We will be reaching out to corporate, as they should be aware they have a wine manager that is extremely rude, and has zero interest in providing even the most basic customer service. read more

We finally went to an event to make up for the previous event and it was very enjoyable. I see what Mel D and Adrian was talking about. The session was very well organized. I did the Chocolate and Wine Tasting for V-Day and the chocolates were ready on the table when we arrived. They upped the food I heard with some sushi in addition to regular charcuterie items. The class was full and everything was on time and the lead was very clear. It was his first time leading a session so they had one of the regular lead help him and they were very supportive of each other. I would definitely come back. The manager did apologize to how we were treated last time and I believe he is not leading sessions at the moment. read more

This is the 2ND time now that Total Wine has refused to sell me alcohol because they "THINK" I'm too young. My government ID literally says I am 26 years old. And my sister went with me because it was her 21st birthday. Yet they still said they wouldn't sell to us because she "looks too young." The other time I went in quickly with my husband to grab a wine bottle for dinner, and they denied both of us because of thinking we weren't old enough. My husband is 28 years old. Ridiculous that I've now been here twice, different occasions. And the same thing happens. EVEN with official government identification. While I'm not the biggest fan of the name, Total Wine & More completely won me over with its impressive variety. They offer an incredible selection of wines from all around the world. I initially stopped by to check out their semi-sweet reds but I was quickly drawn in by their tequila and mezcal collection. I decided to try a mezcal, and when I got to the checkout, the cashier noticed my mezcal and ginger soda combo. He suggested making a Mexican Mule, which I hadn't considered. On the way home, I picked up a few limes and fresh mint leaves, and I have to say--it was a fantastic recommendation! The drink was refreshing, and the whole experience made me appreciate the knowledgeable and helpful staff. Even though I rarely drink, I'd absolutely return for future purchases. Their selection blows the BevMo (another name I'm not crazy about) down the street out of the water in my opinion. Upon my arrival, inside Total Wine and More, I found an oasis of beverages. The store was full of friendly employees. Everyone greeted me, and were quite helpful. There was such an atmosphere of hospitality and enthusiasm. I was given great assistance, with helping me locate the juice. I was purchasing a large amount, which was handled with ease and care. One of the friendly employees, explained the Rewards Program to me. It's how customers collect points for each dollar spent on purchases. Great customer service, and plenty of great products. The employee who packed it put both bottles in a single paper bag that was not strong enough to hold them, and the bottles were banging into each other so they would be likely to break while being carried. They had individual bottle bags to keep the bottles from banging, but they were either to lazy to use them or the employee was instructed not to minimize cost. Either way the packing was unacceptable. I demanded the employee put each bottle and an induvial bag and double bag the two bottles so I would stand a chance of getting them to my vehicle with the bag breaking. read more

The associates are walking the floor readily to assist you. There is tasting section in the store just like their other locations. Terrific customer service in this store. I was looking for a specific bottle of wine which was not on the shelf where it was supposed to be. An assistant manager and two sales associates, searched through racks, boxes and the warehouse to finally find it. Everyone was very pleasant and highly motivated to help me. This store puts a stain on the Total Wine and More brand. The "More" could stand for "moron" if you continue to shop here at the Jefferson Blvd. in Culver City location. They post prices on the shelf. When you go to check out, beware! The price you pay could be different. This is not a mistake. I bought six bottles of wine. I have an account here and have been a faithful customer since it opened not too long ago. Had no reason to double check my receipts -- until yesterday. After going to my car with my purchases, something told me to check my receipt. I quickly noticed I had been overcharged on a bottle. After bringing it to a clerk's attention, she brought the posted price on the shelf to Natalie, the assistant store manager. I had to stand there for 20 minutes while she fumbled to reverse the wrong charge and to correctly charge my Visa. Then she tries to usher me out. But wait, I tell her I want to check the shelf prices of the other bottles of wine I bought, with receipt in my hand. Lo and behold, I was overcharged for every bottle I bought! The same store clerk checked and confirmed that fact. She takes the posted shelf prices back to assistant manager Natalie, who never apologizes, no explanation, while I wait another 30 minutes for her to reverse and correct all those other charges. I ask to speak to the store manager, Johnny Bye. Natalie calls him, says he's somewhere upstairs. I waited another 15 minutes, but he never bothers to come and speak to me about my experience! This store is preying on seniors and/or people of color through deceptive pricing. Never had this issue at other Total Wine and More, including the locations in Las Vegas. Stay away from this particular store, unless you enjoy being ripped off -- and disrespected, to boot! The manager has the correct last name -- Bye. Never again! read more

This place has a great selection of drinks and kegs. I love the fact that they have barrels of the kegs which went perfect with my kegarator and beer dispenser. I make the best micheladas so this is going to taste better on tap. Shout out to CJ who helped me select a few great tequilas. I am happy that they price match brick and mortar stores because I had to pick up 12 clase azuls and a few other bottles to fix up my bar at my house. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. I have my perfect bar for my house and can't wait to enjoy drinking with my friends and enjoy the vibe. There's nothing like some liquid courage and being around people with good vibes where you can laugh and have a good time. I've been patroning Total wine and more since I found it up in San Francisco in 2019. Consistently the best selection of spirits I've ever seen, especially if you're a whiskey and rum lover. I joke that this place is this Disneyland for your liver! It's been a long waot to get a total wine in Los Angeles, it finally happened.... No thanks to the government permits and nonsense. I am thankful that it is here, and so far the staff has been just fine for me. They're new and still training, so give them a break.
