Sooooo Hennessy came out with their Very Special Cocktails!: Hennessy Berry (a cognac based berry mojito), Hennessy Rita (margarita-inspired) and Hennessy Ice Tea. Pennsylvania didn't carry them, so I drove out to this location specifically because they had them in stock. I placed my order through the app, and it was ready quickly. Once I got there, I decided to purchase even more bottles because they actually had plenty available. When you order on the app they bring it out to the car. The young lady who first helped me when I walked in (I didn't catch her name) was very friendly and engaging. When I picked up my orders, Brianna assisted me and she was also very pleasant and helpful. D'Elman was helpful as well. This is a very large, well stocked store, but what makes shopping easier in a place this size is how knowledgeable and helpful the staff usually are throughout the store. I was able to purchase all the bottles I wanted without any issue. Unfortunately, my checkout experience kind of ruined the ending for me. After my bottles were boxed up, I placed them back into my cart and moved the cart slightly away from the register area while preparing to pay. The cashier, Leslie, then said, "you have to pay for those," in a way that felt very accusatory almost like she thought I was about to walk out with a cart full of liquor. Considering I had over 30 bottles sitting there in plain sight at checkout, I found the comment unnecessary and honestly a little offensive. That interaction definitely left a bad final impression because your last point of contact matters. Leslie could've approached that differently. Overall though, the store itself was excellent, very well stocked, and the majority of the staff were friendly and professional. I would absolutely drive back here again for the selection alone. I went in expecting to find plenty of options and receive helpful guidance, but instead I found the entire shopping experience confusing, frustrating, and far less impressive than advertised. The shelves may look full at first glance, yet when I tried to compare products or find something specific, the organization made it difficult to understand what was actually available. Many items seemed repetitive, some sections were poorly labeled, and it was not easy to tell which products were in stock or where to find alternatives. For a business built around giving customers choices, Total Wine & More felt like one of the worst places to go when you actually need help choosing something. Rather than making the process easy, the store made it feel overwhelming and unnecessarily complicated. I spent more time walking back and forth between aisles than actually comparing wines, and there was very little useful information available to help narrow down the options. Prices and labels were not always easy to match with the bottles in front of them, which added to the confusion. I left with the impression that having a large building and rows of bottles does not automatically mean a store provides a good selection or a good customer experience. The customer service was the most disappointing part of the visit. It was difficult to get anyone's attention, and when I finally found an employee, the interaction felt rushed, uninterested, and dismissive. I asked a simple question about finding a particular type of wine and hoped for a recommendation, but the response I received was vague and unhelpful. Instead of walking me to the correct section or offering a few options based on what I was looking for, I was pointed in a general direction and left to figure everything out on my own. The employees I encountered did not seem interested in answering questions, and there was no sense that anyone cared whether customers were finding what they needed. Even basic courtesy seemed to be missing. No one greeted me, checked whether I needed assistance, or followed up after seeing me search through several aisles. A store this large should have knowledgeable staff available to assist people, especially customers who may not know much about wine and are relying on the store's employees for guidance. Instead, I felt like I was inconveniencing the staff simply by asking for help. The lack of patience, attention, and professionalism made the entire visit unpleasant and left me feeling ignored rather than valued. Overall, I would not recommend Total Wine & More to anyone looking for good service, clear choices, or a pleasant shopping experience. The store may advertise a wide variety of products, but that means very little when customers cannot easily find what they need and employees do not seem willing to help. A wine store should make customers feel comfortable asking questions, comparing options, and learning about products before making a purchase. This location did the opposite. The experience felt impersonal, disorganized, and frustrating from beginning to end. I would much rather shop at a smaller local wine store where the staff takes the time to listen, offer thoughtful recommendations, and treat customers with respect. Total Wine & More has the size and appearance of a major retailer, but the service did not match the image it tries to present. A customer should not have to chase down employees, struggle to understand the layout, and leave feeling that their business did not matter. I expected much better from such a well-known store. Based on my visit, it was one of the worst customer service experiences I have had at a wine store, and I do not plan to return. I would give it a zero star if I could. The place overall is great, but if you do not know exactly what you want and ask an employee for assistance they automatically push the "Spirits direct" which is the "made for TW&M brand" If a fiduciary sales person in finance did that they would lose their license and be banned from the business for life! I stopped in Total Wine on Friday morning and bought 3 bottles of Lillet Rose and 6 bottles of Bellinis (cost $120) which the cashier kindly put in a box for me. I then realized I also needed six 4 packs of Asbury Park beer. As I was paying for the beer, the cashier roughly opened the box with the Lillet and Bellinis and asked me how I had paid for them. I told her I bought them. At this point the manager came over and opened the box again-I asked her why she was looking in a box in my cart and she said she was checking to make sure I hadn't stolen the items!!! I don't think you will find a larger selection of Wine, Beer and the most popular spirits. Not much to offer on allocated spirits, prices are on what is available is mid to high based on the area. Beware of bottles with skus taped over with a new sku. Brought a bottle of rhum jm rum on sale for $88.99 thinking it was a great deal because it was $26 off original price. Got home, took the bottle out of the box and noticed bottle was not as advertised online instead it was the cheaper version that was $51.99. Called and asked if they can refund me the difference over the phone since I live an hour away from the store. At first the lady said yes but after a few minutes wait the manger came on the phone and said the price is correct and to return to the store if I don't want it. Went back today wanting to get the correct bottle but all they had was what I returned. What a waste of time and toll. And the people that work there are very unfriendly! read more

This store is huge! I was told that there is hundreds of thousands of bottles here. They have wines from practically every region of the world, all types of liquors, beers on the shelf and in a refrigerator, kegs in the refrigerator, scotch, tequila, bourbon, vodka, gin... you get it. The aisles are long and fully stocked. The service was great! Very helpful, and they knew their stuff. I spoke with two people, one from wine, named alex and the other guy, sorry I forgot your name, in beers. This place is very well laid out and looks more like a Wegmans but only alcohol! There is a room in the back for trainings and I'm told they usually also have tastings. Now I came in on Thanksgiving, and the lines at the register weren't very long but seemed to take very long. Given it's a holiday, they must have been short staffed at the register and perhaps not their seasoned employees?I'll come back during the week some time and see if that's improved. read more

I hosted a 2-hour private wine tasting social event for 19 people at Total Wine-Eatontown called 'Sip, Chat and Chew' on 5/6/2023, featuring an Italian wine theme. The tasting room had a nice atmosphere. Andre and Alex from Total Wine did a fabulous job explaining the wines, the various regions of Italy, and entertained and informed my guests. They were helpful in receiving and responding to questions. Presentation included a computer monitor display. I was able to bring in and set up refreshments to compliment the tasting. My friends enjoyed. Andre and Alex helped take pictures for our group and then helped individuals in our group find various wine selections and made recommendations following the tasting. I Bought a wine online and my husband picked it up at store. He should have checked the item before left. It turned out to be a different year than what I bought. Called and they just said you can return it if you don't want. Yeah I know that! But what a waste of time I have to drive there 25-30min one way and almost a hour to return and come back! Great store with a huge selection. However, they do make it a habit to show you where the item is you're looking for. Then, try to steer you towards a different item that they say "is better." Well, after this happened twice, I decided to Google the "better" bottle they were steering me towards. I never heard of it before. That's because both times the bottle they were steering me towards is only distributed by Total Wine. You can't get it anywhere else. I guess they get a bonus for selling more of their own stuff.
