Wow... like a Costco for beer and wine... Organized and clean. Most prices pretty good or really good. Everything from day to day (affordable) stuff to high end (costly) treasures. Several tastings scattered about the aisles which is always nice ... trying new things. And download the app for extra discounts!

"Hairless Dog" NA BLACK ALE 0% alcohol near-beer by Finnegans Brew Co., Minneapolis MN., (90 calories) might be drinkable by those with nonfunctional olfactory systems. It's dark directionless flavor is preceded by an offensive odor, as if the follicle-challenged critter has been rolling in an aging mound of landscape debris at the dog park. The only relationship this beverage has with beer is the can. If you have house guests who have exhausted their welcome, serve them this.

High end ports

Incredible selection of port wines. All price points. Friendly customer service. Good online ordering.

1 star for the poor customer service by this location's manager, Lucio. Last week, I went to this Total Wine and requested a price match on the 2019 Duckhorn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. As proof of the price at the competing retailer (Safeway), I brought a photo of the shelf tag (attached to this review) and two receipts (which demonstrated that I purchased the wine at the advertised price from two different Safeway locations). The manager refused to honor Total Wine's price match guarantee (listed on the Total Wine website) on the grounds that I didn't have the actual shelf tag with me. When I asked Lucio if he expected me to steal it from Safeway, he replied that I should bring a printed ad showing the price. I told him that Safeway doesn't print an ad listing the price of every single bottle of wine. He ignored this point and repeatedly insisted that he couldn't match the price. I explained that the photo of the shelf tag and receipts were sufficient proof for the manager of the Ballston Total Wine to match the price, so why was he being inconsistent? I told Lucio that he was putting me in a catch-22 by demanding proof that doesn't exist (a printed ad) or is unattainable (stealing the shelf tag). He didn't respond to this point and insisted that his decision was final. I believe that Lucio was acting in bad faith and didn't want to match the price because Safeway was selling the exact same bottle of wine for $22.21 less. Other Total Wines honor the price match guarantee, so there's no need to support this location.

Le sigh. It's not bad. It is wine meets Big Box. I always end up here around holidays when I need some wine options for a diverse audience. I've got my likes (big Cabs like Hundred Acre Wraith, Kathryn Hall, or MacDonald) and I know that most folks won't appreciate it, so I chase after some...fruitier or sweeter wines. I joined their club / program...and I don't think I've ever saved a dime. This is not to say it is bad. I bet if I was a frequent shopper buying middle of the road - I'd probably save a few bucks here or there. I normally find myself unable to get a shop worker's attention so I just open my Vivino app so I know what I have at home, how many, and what I need for the occasion. Prices are...okay. Are you going to save more shopping around? Sure - convenience has a price. No, I am not going to find my Important Wines here, which is not to say you can't easily spend hundreds or thousands of dollars in a single run. Total Wine is that uneasy intersection among convenience, selection, value, and shopping experience. Hooch safely, my friends.

Awesome wine workshop! Although I've been to more wineries that I can count on my fingers and toes, I found the workshop really helpful and understand how to properly use my senses to smell, stir, and taste buds to understand the term "fruit-forward". I tasted 6 types of wine from dry to sweet including Bruts, Reds, Whites, Rose (which is not White Zinfradel!), and Port from different regions. I like how all of the wines were affordable ranging from $13 to $40 (Pino Noir Carneros). I bought a bought a bottle of the Alsace Brut from France. The instructor was friendly, knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. The wine guide listing the rating, reviews, and taste profiles of all the wines was really helpful and I kept it after the event. The best part about the tasting is that it was paired with food! It was interesting to learn that the salty sweet duo with a savory dish and a sweeter wine pair well together. It's no wonder that a deep red is drowned out by spicy food while a White complements and counterbalances spicy dishes. I tried some of these food and wine pairings that the instructor recommended at home and they really work! After the session, I was inspired to create my own cheese board with different types of wine and my friends loved it! Although the workshop was complementary as a Yelp Elite event, I'm planning on bringing my husband to the workshop and paying $20/person. So worth it and learned so much, highly recommend it. I bought plenty of bottles from Total Wine before the event and now know exactly what to look for!

Shopping at Total Wine is a total pleasure. I wish it wasn't alcohol but something healthier so you could buy with a clear conscious! It is spacious, very clean, staffed properly, and has all the variety a mediocre wine enthusiast would hope for. There is a small deli section and a significant section for novelty, accessories, drinkware, and tableware. The beer and cigar sections are equally well-stocked. I am not sure if they are open to special requests to order items, but staff seem very friendly and eager to help when you need it, rather than swarming you while browsing. Their recommendations and labels with descriptions are solid and not overwhelming. Do absolutely recommend.

I came in here today with just Same Adams on my mind. The fast selection of other products like Peligrino, wine of every flavor you could imagine, and of course cases and cases of beer definitely caught my attention! I had no idea that they sold beer by the keg either. Ti walked out with the 12 pack of Sam Came Summer Ale, a case of us light, and the case of Peligrino mineral water. I don't come to this store very often but I would consider that a good day's work! Like I mentioned, the place is enormous so I could have kept going! I love this place!

Owner is chill until you have an issue that's not your fault or his…read more I've shopped here regularly for a year or so out of convenience, picking up 2-3 vapes every week or so.. but after being sold a vape that had leaked during transit (the other two were fine) the owner belittled me and blamed me for the issue telling me I must have left it on the side or upside down, which was not the case, or the other two would have leaked while in my possession. Despite the owners temperament, I remained respectful and shrugged off his terrible assertions and I was provided a replacement vape but I left not wanting to return again and biting my tongue. I gave dude the benefit of the doubt, people have bad days, he'd been chill every other time I'm there, etc., so I kept going there. However, a few months following this one of the vapes in the last batch I picked up was dead on arrival, it did not have power or light up after opening the package and plugging it into multiple chargers did not change anything. The guy went on a rant about how he didn't have to refund me and he has no idea what I did with the vape once I left the store insinuating I damaged it, and wouldn't even let me talk. At this point in the conversation I'm never coming back and don't care what he does or says. I've spent thousands of dollars in this shop and have only had these two issues throughout my time shopping here and I did not appreciate the way I was treated either time. I remained respectful and was once again biting my tongue. When he gave me the replacement vape, he made me open it and rip it inside the store to make sure it worked. He then told me, "if I puff it like that it will break it too". I wasn't trying to actually hit it, I took a tiny test pull to make sure it fired ..so rich coming from this guy though since I've only had problems with 2 vapes in over a year, and those problems prevented me from puffing on them in the first place..pea brained logic, reasoning, and customer service motto of 'blame the customer no matter what, they're always wrong and they're the problem'. Dude talks down to people while acting arrogant when there's any type of issue while he sells trash delta8 carts and cheap Chinese glass that's been excessively marked up.

Very smooth transaction, clean, price is fair, manager is nice,…read more High collection of cigars, vapes, hookahs

I have to say that after burning a few of these cigars, I'm a fan…read more I came here right after my son was born so that I could pass out cigars to visitors and friends. At first, the selection was a bit intimidating as they have tons of the PG (Paul Garmirian) line but not much else. However, a quick trip down memory lane on what I enjoyed a few months back at J. Gilberts quickly reminded me that I thought the PG cigars were quite good. You do have a price range - you can get some smaller gauges for around $5 and keep going up in quality and depth to $35 on some. I recommend trying a sampler to get your feel for what you like or have the tobacconists recommend a few smokes based on your preferences. In my opinion, it's fairly priced for what you're getting and it only gets pricey when you start thinking of buying boxes. But if you can't afford to enjoy smoking your money, why are you in the shop to begin with?

I came in and asked the clerk help picking out a cigar for my father and gave them a price range…read moreand said that I recall from growing up that the cigars he always smoked had Spanish names, and I gave the example of "Romeo y Julieta" and "Cohiba" as two brands he liked. The clerk ignored me and showed me Davidoff. When I said I would rather stick to something I had seen him smoke before, the clerk laughed at me, said that was ridiculous and then pointed to a box of cigars and said, "well, these are Armenian, so you wouldn't be willing to buy one even though its a good cigar just because it was made by Armenian people?!?!?!" Apparently customer service in this store means showing the customer something they aren't interested in and then implying that they are a racist because they don't want it...
