Don't worry honey my husband who this actually happened two is almost 70 he's never stolen anything and the color of his skin doesn't rub off. Get some training in customer service. After you have worked your way through all the refs, the whites, the roses, the sparkling wines, the fortified wines, and the champagnes, you then can hit the beers and ciders before finally working your way through the spirits. If you are in a hurry, make sure you know what you want to buy and where to find it before entering. Then head directly to your desired item, grab it and head for the cashier. Do not be waylaid by the deep discounts or novelty items in display. Do not be tempted by that $120 bottle of wine that is on sale for $80 or six for $400. You should be able to find what you want here, or at least a good substitute. read more

This place is huge! We had a lovely bottle of wine at dinner out recently and wanted to find it for some home enjoyment, which we did (find the bottle and have some home enjoyment). I like how all the Cabs are together, and all Malbecs are together, but after that I got a little lost. I was also looking for ANY bottle of Seven Hills from Washington state. Since I couldn't figure out the organization, asking the customer service person was easiest (there were three of them standing talking to each other in the customer service area). I did have to interrupt their strategy session on how to organize the store. When I asked for Seven Hills from Washington state, the response was "You must mean Columbia Crest" with a heavy emphasis on the word "must." Well, no, I mean Seven Hills Winery, with a heavy emphasis on "no." My customer service rep then hopped right to the computer and pulled up five other names with Seven in it. Good try, but no. I didn't want any cheap knockoffs; only the real thing. I thanked her for her time and found the hubby in the beer section, which is also extensive. I came into the store with and old friend, and when it came time to check out my buddy just so happened to forget his wallet in the truck, and both the gentleman and whoever the bosses name was were clearly being prejudice towards him because of his skin tone. While walking out of the store as well we both noticed a mother with her daughter who was clearly underage walking out with multiple bottles of alcohol. I don't ever see myself shopping here again if people are going to be visibly prejudice towards people like that, and to add that I was the one purchasing with a valid ID and whatever the managers name was refused to sell to me and tried accusing my ID as being fake. wish I could leave less than one star, I had a TERRIBLE experience here. I NEVER write reviews but I strongly felt compelled to after what i experienced today. I came in with my boyfriend & my friends (who all showed up later on their own). everyone is clearly over 21 if you had asked for IDs, and my boyfriend had to leave the store to take care of something (the employees saw him leave & never asked to check his ID BTW). while I was being rung up, the store manager proceeded to come up to my friends behind me who were checking out, and deny them to purchase their items. He claimed he needed to see my boyfriend's ID, who had left the store, in order to complete their purchases. He said my friends came in with my boyfriend (WRONG. because I entered the store with just me & him and we walked around for 20 minutes waiting for my friends to show up and nobody said anything). My friends ended up leaving without buying anything because the cashiers wouldn't let them. Meanwhile they let me buy my stuff (??? make it make sense. I was the one who originally came in with my bf so at least ask me but they never once did). My friends left with nothing, upset of course. This manager had glasses and seemed to make it his mission to catch us doing something wrong. He followed us from the get go so it was obvious, despite us browsing for half an hour for drinks. They also didn't check IDs when handing out free samples of alcohol. They probably should if they're going to be so uptight about IDs in general. read more

Moments ranging from running in to grab our favorite wine for that Scandal episode, to picking out various different wine and spirits for that first time we hosted Christmas Day dinner in our new home. The store at first can be overwhelming and over-stimulating. Sometimes it is hard to find an associate to help you locate an item, but when you do, they're usually very helpful and can hone in on what you're searching for. They have great prices and are in fact cheaper than grabbing something from Target across the street. It's rare that you find what you're looking for less than you can get it at Total Wine; unless there's a sale, even then the price is usually just a few cents less than TW. They've got as good or better of a selection than anywhere else around. Just about every wine, champagne, beer, and liquor you might want. They can also do orders for you if they have the ability to order / stock what you're looking for. If you can swing a car trip just for your drinking pleasures or can plan it for your way home, it's worth coming here to save the extra $. Trappist beer, brewed by Trappist monks in Monastery brewhouses, from different religious orders that have existed across Europe since the Middle Ages. Tonight tho, I filled up my growlers. Count Hopula brewed at SanTan Brewing Co. Phoenix, is an American Double, Imperial IPA with a 7.50% ABV. Boasting a deep red, nutty color with loud Simcoe hop bitterness balanced with an eternal roasted malt, Count Hopula Blood Red IPA certainly bites and will turn you into a zombie hophead. Not all that crazy over this one. Ebenezer Ale, BridgePort Brewing Co. Portland Oregon. Winter Warmer with a 6.40% ABV. Pours a deep ruby-tinged copper, mostly clear. A malty nose, spice and caramel sweetness, hint of alcohol, floral hops in the background. Not bad, but not spectacular as winter warmers go but a good sipper. A lot of work. Mind you, I've recently relocated from Houston where shopping at Specs flagship store was my normal stomping ground. But. To have ENTIRE aisle of Pinot Noirs, NOT organized by region (Old World / New World) and further subdivided (NZ, Australia, Cali, Oregon) dooms anyone who does not know the NAME of the wine! Similarly, a huge selection of Bordeaux, NOT subdivided by Appellation. Pomerol? Margaux? Sorry, you have to know the name of the bottle. Signage is terrible. And woe to the person who asks for help. They are either a) uninformed - or b) condescending ('there ARE no Pinots from Washington') You get my point. I HAD thought that laying in a huge stock of wine for the upcoming holidays would be a fun experience. Joyous, even. Instead it was just immensely frustrating. It's nice to know that when you are assigned to bring wine to a friends dinner party and you aren't much of a fine wine appreciator you can go here ask for a bottle you may have tried 3 or more months ago and actually find it. Then show up with a palettable bottle or two and knock the socks off your buddies that know you more for drinking beers or whiskey. All with a little help from a member of the total Wine team. It's also much to my suprise a great place for other drinkables to be found and tried. So a 34 and a 38 walk into Total wine & more....No one offers to help...we stand around and research different kinds of vodka for about an hour. We were good, can research on our own but still odd... Then we go to check out and I (the 34 year old) don't have my ID but the 38 year old does. There is signage saying if you look under 30.., expect to show ID. Fine. We don't look under 30 so the person buying the alcohol having an ID should be sufficient. If not.., signage needs to be posted CLEARLY in the front of the store so we don't waste our time there. I would NOT have walked in. They tell us we have to wait 24 hours to buy alcohol from them and "there's signage all over the door explaining their policy" Not true. We looked. How about just deliver your message kindly and apologize for the inconvenience and tell your customers you will work on more clear signs of the rules The clerk said "its like a bar, everyone needs an ID" Then why not ID on the way in?? Ended up great - we found Lucky Liquors down the street (on yelp!) and were given awesome service with a smile and knowledgeable staff. This is like a fun person's Toys R' Us. I drink a lot of Tequila in the sense that I will capitalize it just so that I can make it sound far more distinguished than what it actually is. It's Vodka of Mexicans. I capitalized Vodka, because Vodka is the Rum of Russians. I also capitalize Rum, because it's the wine of Pirates. Wine, being Fren...Ital...Argen...wine is too much of a harlot to actually pick a region. No capital. I digress. But as a prevalent Tequila drinker, I can attest to this store constantly having fun, up to date, and quality Tequila and Mezcals. They have such a legit selection of Tequila and Mezcals, that I can't help be a glutton for pain when I see uncultured degenerates reaching for Jose Cuervo and Patron. I gotta' say something. I gotta' help. It's like seeing someone roofie a drink. It is your moral obligation to go over there, let that person know that the creep they are with is trying to roofie them, and then hope that you just built up enough brownie points to go home with them and bang. There are so many other better tasting and higher quality products for equivalent prices, which the staff at Total Wine will totally help you with. You just have to pry one of them away from the beer, wine, and bourbon sections cuz' any customer that hangs out in the Tequila section is a waiting deaf ear ready to kick a solid word of advice right into the dirt. I learned this the hard way by explaining to some loser with a billion questions about Tequila. Shouldn't have opened my mouth, but it was nice to talk about something of interest and to try and guide this person toward an enhanced buzz. Talked regions, soil compositions, aging processes, barreling options, harvesting methods, how to sip it - you name it. And he went with one of my suggestions even. I felt like a legit salesperson. Ya'll hiring, Total Wine? Ya'll get commission? My aspirations of being a top liquor rep vanished as quickly as it had formed. Dude said thank you, picked up the bottle, and decided to give me a little advice of his own. Apparently the best way to enjoy it, is to mix it with Squirt. Oh, yeah? Is it?
