I always have a really good experience at this Total Wine location. The staff is usually helpful depending on who you get, and the selection is great, especially with how much their THC beverage options keep expanding. It is a solid place to stop whether you know exactly what you want or need some guidance, since a lot of the employees are knowledgeable and willing to help. They also do tastings from time to time, which can be fun if you are there with friends. The last time I went, I needed help picking out a tequila and the worker walked me through the basics and gave me a few options. I ended up going with his recommendation and it was a big hit at the party. I also come here specifically for THC drinks since they have a huge variety. Pricing is a little high, but that seems pretty standard everywhere for this kind of stuff, so it is not surprising. I have had a couple moments where workers at the tasting stations came off a bit off putting, but that has been outweighed by the other staff who are much more engaged and helpful. If you are looking for a place with a wide selection and people who can help you choose, this is definitely worth checking out. read more

Last week, 9/15/2022 I went into the Roseville location looking for Clase Azul Mezcal Guerrero [Teal bottle]. I asked one of the gentlemen if they had it, as they were I the process of moving things around he looked on his PDA and told me that they would receive a case the next day, Friday, cool, so I confirmed with him that the shipment was the Clase Azul Mezcal Guerrero, he said yes. Good, yay... HOOHOO I'm finally going to get Clase Azul Mezcal Guerrero. So Saturday I decide to look online to see if it's in so I can buy and then go pickup, well Total wine does not allow you to purchase "Premium" spirits online, so I call, I was told that the Clase Azul Mezcal Guerrero did not come in but they did receive a case of the Clase Azul Mezcal Durango [Black bottle], not really what I wanted but I said OK, and asked why can't I purchase online, I was told " because it's a premium item the instore count is low and it would not be fair to other customers in the store who wanted it", I said, but if you're in the store you can just grab it... So I decide to just go into the store, I find someone to help me, he disappears, I wait 10 minutes and I never see him again, I see the person I saw on Thursday, he says the Clase Azul Mezcal Guerrero is in, he disappears. So as I'm leaving I see a young woman working a kiosk, she said she saw me standing and asks if she can help, I explain it all to her, she looks on the PDA and tells me, the Clase Azul Mezcal Guerrero is out of stock everywhere, production was halted because of the pandemic, no telling when it will start up again. She said they DID NOT have the Clase Azul Mezcal Durango instore, but she would be happy to locate a bottle for me, and personally hold it for me, I respectfully declined because at that point I was really holding back what I wanted to say and I just wanted to get out of the store. Then on to way to the door another sales rep told me that they had other Mezcal that I could choose from, I ignored him and walked out. As I was driving home I realized why they don't sell the premium spirits online, it's because they don't have it and they want you to buy the celebrity sponsored stuff they have, stuff nobody really wants, at I don't want it. I'm not sure who decided that humans needed a grocery-like liquor store. I want to shake that person's hand because it makes things so much easier. You have actual aisles with labels so that you can more easily find what you need. Whether it's wine or spirits, you can browse the sections that interest you, without having to wander about the entire store looking for a particular item. The staff are friendly and are quick to answer questions. There are, on occasion, tastings at different locations, too. If you're of legal drinking age, you can sip samples of some of their offerings. Another great thing about Total Wine & More is that their prices are highly competitive and reasonable. read more

I was in town last week for Christmas and my husband and I stopped in to get some local Minnesota beer. We are both white and in our mid-late 30's. As we were approaching the check out area there was a commotion in one of the lanes. A group of about 6 Asian customers of varying age (late 20s-early 50s) was trying to check out and the cashier had summoned an additional manager to come over. The female manager was shouting at this group that she needed to see every person's ID as it was company policy. She was also shouting that this was "NOT PROFILING". The customers looked confused and upset but were producing their IDs for check. As my husband and I checked out, neither of us were asked for ID. There are signs everywhere stating their policy of checking every person's ID; in addition to the shouting manager. After looking at a few reviews here it appears this is not the first time this store has chosen to selectively enforce this policy. I don't live in the area anymore but typically try to make a stop here when I am in town. I will definitely be going elsewhere for future trips. read more

This place is awesome! I don't care if it's a chain. Booze emporium. The first time I went to a Total Wine in AZ, my mouth was agape and my mind in overdrive. I'd never seen such a huge selection combined with cheap prices before. I wanted to go Leaving Las Vegas style up and down their aisles. Brought a friend from work here and he was equally dumbfounded. I think Jenny A knows what I am talking about, as well. My only complaint? Not much in the way of cold beer. I am splitting hairs. Paid $6.99 for a six pack of Sweet Child of Vine and $7.99 for a bottle of Toasted Head the last time I was there. Kendall Jackson goes for $8.49. These are not sale prices, but everyday prices. I've been waiting for the one to open in Bloomington/Edina, but due to a licensing battle at the city level, the store has been sitting around, waiting to open since December, 2013. Flash forward to today in Roseville. The Total Wine & More sent out an email blast to locals, including businesses. I'm a sap for anything free, and they're offering a free bottle opener the first few days of opening. So my friend, Jack F. and I decided to check it out after lunch (not Chinese food for once). Total Wine & More lives up to its name. The place is huge! A very big selection, and it's very competitive. Jack and I priced items we both knew, and you can save a good deal of money. The prices are even better than with some of the warehouse chains. This place could be dangerous for us since it's close to work. So, I usually visit this Total Wine & More once/twice a month and never had an issue until today My gf who turned 21 last October and we entered the store at 5:45 pm( 15 minutes before closing and we came to get a sweet wine which I knew where exactly to get it ) and we picked up the bottle we wanted and headed over to the register The guy behind the counter asked for both my gf's and my ID and I asked why he needed my gf's ID when I buy and I'm an adult, ( no hair left in my head lol ) he said it was a company policy Funny enough, I was at this store buying a bottle of vodka in February for my b-day with a female friend of mine ( Caucasian ) nobody asked for her ID, only mine ( lol) And my gf got her permit recently, so she got the paper permit for now, not the physical card and she tried to show it to him on her phone but the guy said no and asked a female ( supervisor ? ) to come over and she insisted that my gf had to show a physical ID card, no paper (( lol)) or they can't sell us a bottle of wine. Which makes me wonder did that cashier and the supervisor make up a policy in their own mind to decline us the sale because my gf was black? Where was that policy when I was there with a Caucasian female friend in February? Im surprised they didn't accuse her of carrying a false ID LOL In conclusion, I believe we were denied the sale because of my gf's skin color and I'll bring it up every time someone speaks about you guys. This was my first experience in one if these and I've been around them for years. I had to go here because Minnesota doesn't sell cold beer in it's had stations. This location hardly does as well given the size of its location and its offerings. The aisles were easily laid out and the signage was great. More than that was the positive vibe from the staff member that helped me. Actually, the two previous ones were super as well and didn't hesitate to assist me. I hope the other locations I visit share a similar kindness. The prices were good and they offer a point system. The point system honestly seems a little weak. You have to spend $500 to get $5 back. That is the 5,000 point goal...$5. My local chain in Houston gives more back for its program and even gives instant discounts on everyday purchases. However, this stop was one of my best ones and I suggest anyone give total wine a go. I got my high gravity stout (beer), my liquor, my alcoholic seltzer's, and mixers all there. read more

Gotta say this is only about one of their 'policies'. I stopped to get a 6 pack of something for my wife. Took me quite a while to find it but all was good. Then went to check out. Their 'policy' requires, I guess, that they see everyone's ID. I'm old, I'm crotchety and I don't care for policies that are simply, in my estimation, ridiculous. I'm over 70 years old and quite visibly old enough to make a purchase. Unfortunately, I did not. The target of liquor stores to me. Whenever, however so often I go to total wine, I have to walk up and down every aisle of the store to make sure I'm not missing something new or seasonal. It's ridiculous, lol. They are a few dollars cheaper than most other liquor stores. They carry A LOT of everything (as in wine, spirits, beer, etc.). I love that I can find something new to try every visit without feeling like I spending a lot. They have a huge section of single beers & ciders where you can build your own pack. It's amazing. Maybe more expensive but I'd rather by just 1 bottle to see if I like it before investing in a 6 pack. It's a nice way to sample many drinks to see what you like. I especially love and get excited to see the fall/autumn seasonal beers & ciders. In the past I feel like this section was a lot easier to shop, they changed some things around & I'm not quite used to it just yet (probably because I don't know anything about beer). They recently introduced a rewards program which is nice! Earn rewards/coupons for money off on future purchases. The staff are almost always nice and helpful and usually easy to find. I love that each store post "staff favorites/picks" with little reviews. It's nice to see that sometimes the cheap stuff is actually good. They offer one hour pick up, which is very convenient when you don't want to have to run through the store looking for things. The only bogus thing is their rewards program You get 10 points for every dollar spent and when you hit 5000 points, you get 5 dollars off, wtf! That's ridiculous!!! Normally I don't do this, but since it has become a trend I feel the need. This store absolutely is the worst TW I have ever been in!! Online you can see products with the designation that there may be some in store but you cannot order it online. Fine, I call the store and speak to someone and they confirm they have 2 bottles on the shelf, it is a discontinued product line, and they cannot hold one for me until I get there. I hang up, get in the car and drive down, and can't find it anywhere. I ask for help and explain I just talked to whoever answers the phone and they told me they had 2 on the shelf. Nice enough guy, asks 'Dennis' (manager) who is walking by about it and he quickly responds 'it's a lottery item'. I'm then told I have to spend $5K to be a premiere club member to then possibly be able to win the rights to buy it. Nothing states this online, and I asked why it's even on the site if that's the case?! I reiterate that someone 1) confirmed they had it, and 2) there were 'two bottles on the shelf' that were available if I show up. So then I asked who lied, and why I wasn't able to get one since it was becoming very clear they actually did have them in the back...to which I got little response. Now, I can really only speak to their spirits and sake selection, since those are usually the only forms of booze I gravitate towards . **How is Total Wine & More = Liquor Boy** : * both have that same minimalist liquor store look, very similar to how Costco has their liquor laid out. * both have a very wide selection of booze to choose from, definitely more than most stores * both cheaper than the majority of other liquor stores * in terms of liquor and sake, both have many of the bigger-name, more well known brands...not so much the rare, single barrel stuff (with bourbon: Beam, Four Roses, Booker's, Makers, etc). To be clear, nothing's wrong with that, and Total Wine & More and Liquor Boy again have them for cheaper than I've seen elsewhere. **How is Total Wine & More (not) = Liquor Boy?** : + Total Wine has a larger scotch, vodka, tequila, gin, overall whiskey, craft beer, and wine selection. Like...huge. And a much larger cold section. + Total Wine might actually be a little bit cheaper for some things. They had Glenlivet 12 year single-malt scotch for $22, which is the cheapest I've seen - In terms of bourbon, I think Liquor Boy has a slightly better variety. Total Wine carries a lot of the Jim Beam and Jack Daniels options, but I'd rather they had less of those and more variety of other brands + Total Wine has very nicely situated sampling areas! They were featuring five Italian wines to sample, all at very reasonable prices and very tasty. There was also a beer sampling going on. However, I heard they only offer samples like that on certain days. - My biggest issue with Total Wine was its sad, sad sake selection. Like, REALLY sad, as in I think maybe Big Top Liquor has a better selection than they do (not to diss Big Top, I love Big Top). Basically consisted of various types of Hakutsuru, Geikkeikan, Sho Chiku Bai, and Ozeki with some other so-so brands. The prices were also not any cheaper than anywhere else or what one would expect. Although, there was one sake from Kyoto that looked interesting. Liquor Boy's selection is way more varied/impressive, and even more so, Surdyk's or North Loop Wine & Spirits. + Total Wine is open til 10pm Monday - Saturday (stupid Sundays!) Total Wine & More is a fantastic new liquor store addition to the Twin Cities, and I can't wait to slowly work my way through their scotch, gin, vodka, and bourbon selections! read more

Sold me a product with a dangerous defect and did nothing even after I brought it to a manager's attention. Riptide IPA by Lake Superior brewery must have gone through a second fermentation process on the store shelves. Each can in the 6-pack exploded when I pulled it from the plastic carrier, causing extensive damage to the floor and walls of my house. Thank God my two kids under age 3 weren't in the room. I'm certain any of those exploding cans could have seriously injured a small person. I called the store immediately after it happened and a manager took my name and number. Supposedly, another manager was supposed to call me back, but it's been 48 hours now and no one followed up. This product should be recalled as it is defective and unsafe. My husband and I love and support local breweries and feel Lake Superior needs to know. We'll have to reach out to them ourselves as their vendor (Total Wine and More) is totally negligent. I'm also super bummed that I paid $11 for undrinkable product and was not offered any return or refund. On a tangential point, It should also be noted that a significant portion of the local/ craft beer at Total Wine and More Roseville is at or beyond the expiration date. I intended to spend over $50 selecting a variety pack as a gift for my beer-lover husband. I ended up unloading much of my shopping cart before checking out when I realized it was all old beer. I don't know how you wouldn't like this place. Best prices on wine, beer, and spirits. Even lower prices than Costco, which is pretty low. But the quality and all premium brands are in store. The store is large, full of mostly wine, several isles of spirits, and a wide array of imported beers, etc. Even if you're going for the wine/spirits it's fun to just look at the beer selection because it's so big and sells single beer bottles/cans so it's a perfect for impulse purchases. Great staff too, I think they even have classes held at this location towards the back of the store. read more

I usually love love love this store but lately I've noticed half the staff at the Roseville wearing their masks below their noses when approaching me or behind the register. Also, the last 2 times I went they didn't check my ID. Not the worst thing in the world from my perspective as the shopper, but it's concerning for their team and could get them into trouble. I go here relatively frequently because they have what I want in stock at a good price. Employees are helpful but pushy. Made the mistake of coming in with my wife who is a disabled vet and she forgot her wallet (condition related). Had to leave and come back to make my purchase due to the group ID policy. It was also fairly rudely explained. I understand the need of the company to protect itself legally but this doesn't seem to be the standard across liquor stores. Total Wine & More is totally awesome! We are rarely in Roseville and I'd been carrying around a gift card for a year, and then while Xmas shopping we decided to finally check it out. Totally impressed. The place is huge and clean and well organized and even seems a bit classy. Total Wine is definitely a place to find (exotic) things you've never tried, or never even heard of! Plus all the (domestic) basics as well. They really do seem to have everything. Including an entire section of minis -- great for on-the-go drinking, sneaky drinking, or as in my case, weird liquors that you don't need a huge bottle of for baking (booze cakes, hell yeah). They also offer tastings, which is exciting. And if you don't drink alcohol and/or are for some reason in search of non-alcoholic beverages at a liquor store, Total Wine has you covered there as well. I picked up some fancy tea bags and delicious Blood Orange soda in addition to our adult beverage haul. The customer service is worth noting as well. The employees were totally knowledgeable and friendly. I overheard one guy answering questions about Moscatos and it was clear he knew both his product knowledge and their inventory. And another guy walked us to specific aisles while we were looking for booze cake booze, instead of just pointing us in the general direction. The one thing I can't totally be sure about is whether or not Total Wine has great prices. I don't do the liquor store runs in my household so I don't really know what things cost. The coworker that gave me the gift card said he doesn't think they offer any savings. But most of the reviews I read said that this is wholesale pricing. So I have no verdict. Yeah we dropped a big chunk o' change on our trip, but we also got wines, beers, liquors, mixed-drinks-in-a-can, and the aforementioned non-alcoholic items. I wasn't expecting it to be cheap. Total Wine is da bomb!! They have the widest selection of beer/wine/spirits i've ever seen PERIOD. They have just about every type of beverage you can imagine. It can be difficult to find the 'type' over beverage you wants. For example, I had to wonder for a while in order to find the Chardonnay section, but once i found it I was set. The beverages are organized alphabetically so if you remember your alphabet or need to sing it to yourself quietly you can figure it out. I've heard faves about the staff there, but I've never had any experience with them. But i also go in looking my a certain wine and then leave, otherwise I shop for hours and break the bank with all the wine i'm buying. I enjoy going to Total Wine & More because of their expansive selection and knowledgeable staff, but I unfortunately did not experience either during my latest visit. I was looking for a 1.75L of New Amsterdam Peach Vodka and a 750ML of Evan Williams Peach Whiskey (love me some peach!). Upon being unable to find either one, I approached a sales associate near the vodka section and asked if they could help. While they did share with me that some items may simply be out of stock or discontinued (as is the case with the peach whiskey), they would go check in their inventory. 15 minutes passed and I did not see this individual return nor did they or anyone else who works at the store approach to offer additional assistance while I stood in the same spot awaiting information. I was disappointed, as I went in with the intention of purchasing these items. After the time passed, I went to the sparkling wine section to find some peach wine (told y'all I love me some peach) and, *gasp*, the individual who originally had asked how they could help was in the aisle next to it. They had simply moved on and had not said a word! This left a negative impression of their customer service skills, as it was clearly more important to attend to shelving than close the information loop with a customer. Upon seeing that, I simply grabbed the two remaining items on my list, paid, and left.
