So get this... I stop in at the Sarasota TW to pick up a bottle of Diplomatico rum (fantastic, if you want to try something a little different) and there is a little placard: "$10 off any two bottles of Diplomatico." They had both the 750 and 1L bottles so, of course, I picked up 2 bottles of the 1L size @ $42. I check out and the total came to about $90, which didn't seem right. The woman at the till -- who, incidentally was talkative and super nice -- called the manager when I asked about the $10 discount. He didn't adjust the tab! His excuse "Oh, that's only valid on the 750s." I'm from the Midwest and not very confrontational, so I bid them both a Happy Day! and was on my way. It's fun when you get to shop for your favorite spirits, beer or wine. Whatever type of booze you're looking for is available here; whiskey, tequila, cognac, liquor, rum, vodka, and much more. I was in the market for a bottle of rum to be given as a Christmas gift. I knew the rum section would be huge. One of the associates steered me to aisle 5 and there I found the exact rum I was looking for, Diplomatico Rum Reserva Exclusiva. This is not your well drink rum, this is something special. This is an aged rum from Venezuela. The tasting notes said it would be a complex blend with aromas of fruit cake, cocoa and spices such as cinnamon, clove and dried ginger. Beautiful baked banana flavor with notes of fudge, toffee and vanilla oak, mingling well into gingerbread and orange zest. Voted spirit of the year 2018 from Wine Enthusiast. After reading that, I was sold. Total Wine & More is a wonderful store to do some holiday shopping. I hope my friend shares some of this rum with me. It sounds amazing. Cheers! read more

Great selection but overpriced. "Specials" does not work at the register. Several items was charged at full price! Very happy with the vast selection here! I'm a sucker for ciders but struggle to find variety at the grocery store. Here they have a well stocked section with a great variety of brands and flavors. My mom also found a fabulous selection of canned cocktails, her go-to, and my aunt picked out several flavored rums to try. This location seemed bigger than other Total Wines I've been to, and is also conveniently located next to a Sprouts so you could easily pair some snacks with some great beverages between the two stores. read more

Always a great stop for anything wine, whiskey and all in between. On my most recent visit I discovered the small spirits section that is larger than an airplane bottle but smaller than a full size and it is a great way to sample some spirits that you are not sure you want in your home bar rotation or that you want to add to a specific drink for a party! Ordered 7 cases of wine in February needing them for May. Order placed with Assistant Manager. Was assured that was plenty of time to order. No one calls when expected March delivery is not met. We call mid-April to check on shipment status. Assistant Manager Shannon tells us shipment delayed expect April 21. Okay, we wait. Date comes and goes, NO ONE calls to tell us anything. I call on 4-24 and ask for Shannon. She is at corporate all week, I'm told by Trent. He tells me calmly that delivery not expected until end of July! I cancelled order he said okay he could do that! I went in to buy a nice bottle of Pinot Noir,I was directed to a wine calle LLoyd at 52.00 a bottle.The staff has a spectacular add on sign in front of the wine so i made the purchase.Got it home let it breath and it was far from spectacular and was compatible to a cheap 10-20 dollar bottle.Shame on totla wine for pushing high priced wines that SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Appreciate the fact that you can find good craft beers here that stores like ABC don't carry. Way more!! I always purchase those little one-serving bottles of Brut Champagne for when you need a little for a specialty drink versus opening a whole bottle. Their Rum section is off the charts!! The employees are helpful but not overly nice. So this is where ALL the wine (and beer and liquor) is in Sarasota! The first time I walked in here with my Dad I think my jaw hit the floor. This store is HUGE (well, to me it is; I'm used to small NYC stores). Luckily, everything is organized incredibly well--by variety and region. And, if you look a little overwhelmed, there are employees who will be more than happy to assist you in selecting a wine. We were debating on what Prosecco to get and received a couple reviews of bottles we were considering. The customer service here is two snaps up in Z formation! I think the prices are pretty decent too. If it's an obscure craft beer you're looking for, well, you're in luck. I didn't even get through perusing the aisles before my parents were prodding me to get going. I could have easily spent an hour in here. If you can't find what you're looking for here, well, I think you have bigger problems. read more

Total Wine is perhaps the best wine shop in Sarasota and surely one of my favorite ones. It boasts a large and pleasant space with a huge repertoire of wines, domestic and foreign, quite reasonable prices. You can find real gems, very difficult to achieve in other wineries in the areal. In addition, the staff is very professional and ready to assist with due diligence. Best of all is that there is a very well put together, beautiful space for tastings within the shop also conducts periodic tastings, sommelier courses and workshops for those really interested in the wine world. They have an extensive selection of kegs and their cigar humidor is superior. I love this place. read more

I did not enjoy John's sparkling wine class tonight 11/11/2022. There were 10 sparkling wines to taste . My husband an I were not served for 5 of them. When we asked politely, the helper ( Adam) had an attitude, finally served my husband dropping wine around his glass, and then kept forgetting to serve us. He even said "will you keep doing all night ? " The attitude was very unprofessional and he was forgetting deliberately. Even when I went in front of the class to finally get one of the wines, I was first turned down. I had to insist. I hope you do not keep such employees at your store. My husband and I are good customers of this store for years. As a French woman from Bordeaux, I was exited to learn about Champagne and other Sparkling wines in the world. We were very disappointed and did not feel like buying anything on our way out. This place has an amazing wine selection and carries wines from Napa and Sonoma I have never been able to get regularly without a wine club before. The beer selection is also awesome. There's a huge section for bottles as well as make your own 6 pack. The owners have done a great job educating themselves on wines and really have some special reds to try. read more

Thousands of wines and a section of high end, hard to find. All labeled nicely with helpful information and a very helpful staff. Every booze you can imagine that includes your everyday to your very unique and hard to find. I buy a bourbon Ive never had every time I come. If I could give Total Wine location less than one star, I would. Poor management, poor situational intelligence and skills. Called ahead to get a stock check of a certain wine. There were only two left so I let the associate know I would be there in 20 minutes to buy it if she could kindly hold it for me. She said that was possible, took down my information and told me I could pick it up at guest service where it will be held. In the time that I drove to the store the manager, Daniel sold both bottles. I'm not sure if this is store policy or lack of communication, but regardless - how do you sell a bottle of wine you're holding for a guest who is driving quite a ways for this wine? Before I moved to Florida my husband I shopped here every time we visited. The prices are very reasonable. Now that we live in the area I notice that the inventory in the store is not very well maintained. In addition, I find it odd that the last few times I have shopped there, the employees in shirts and ties are outside collecting shopping carts while the help inside is not always busy but, at the same time not very helpful. You can't beat this place for everything you need in the alcohol department. You will find everything you need. Every time i travel from Canada i love to stop into these locations because I find things that can't be found in Canada but overall you find great service. You find ratings on different products which can help you distinguish because the variety is so big. You can also see staff suggestions which is nice because you know its been tested. The beer selections is also very good and you can find many many choices. Overall it's a friendly place with choice that will make your head spin before you even start sampling what you've bought. I like the location and selection. That's about it. Customer Service at this location is AWFUL. Cashiers always look miserable and are not friendly. I would rather take my business to the University location where they atleast acknowledge your presence.
