I've been shopping at Total wine for years on and off and recently have been purchasing quite a bit of champagne wine and prosecco. My fiance and I came in the Springfield location 2 days ago and had the pleasure of meeting Marcus and Kat. It was late and the store was close to being closed for the evening but Marcus and Cat took their time to make sure that my fiance and I were educated on the best and most popular champagnes and wines for the new year. I cannot thank them enough. They went above and beyond what a normal store employee/ manager would do. I've ran big box / brick and mortar stores on the west coast for years and this is the type of customer service that I give and I expect all of my employees to give. Marcus and Cat, you guys are rock stars and corporate should definitely recognize this review. I know that myself as a territorial manager always look at my reviews for all of my stores and reward my employees accordingly for their hard work and dedication to Great customer service ! It's always fun to venture in here. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Of course me being me, I am always on the hunt for the newest beers, wine, & ciders I encounter. They have a nice selection, however, the one in landmark is much bigger; Their Cider section is an end cap so it doesn't carry alot of each item. Great place to buy all different kinds of beer and wine. If you are looking for a special brand of beer that you can't find in your local supermarket this is the place to go. They have micro brews from all over the country and wine from all over the world. Great place to buy if you are having a get together and need large quantities and a good selection. Try the Landmark location if you can't find what you're looking for here. They seem to have a few more brews and larger quantities(just in case somethings out of stock). Either or, they have pretty much the same beers. I love this place because of it's next to none beer selection in the area. They have a ton of different options. Same goes for wine and champagne also! I wish Total Wine would carry more glassware and accessories etc.. With a store that has such a wide range of beers to choose from, you'd think they follow through with this end of it since all of the vendors offer the glasses. Edit.... Make that 5 stars. A rep from Total Wine called me today and was very concerned with my complaint and apologized. This is a VERY CLASSY MOVE for a company to do . I really admire a company that is mindful of the customer's experience and goes above and beyond to track you down and make things right. I truly appreciate the effort. To be honest, I would have never went back to any Total Wine after my last experience, but this has changed my mind completely. I would say I am certain I will return to a Total Wine location in the future. They do have an huge selection of great products. I am happy I can go back knowing they care about the customers. I popped into Total Wine in Springfield, VA for a quick second to pick up a six pack of beer and some seltzer. I found what I wanted fast and went to pay. I saw that the register closest to the exit was open so I walked right up. The register was next to what I assumed was a manager kiosk. There were three men there counting cash, going over invoices and looking busy. I said hello and put my products up on the conveyor belt right in front of the cashier. The cashier did not greet me or say anything to me and didn't even look at me. She aloud asked to one or maybe all three of the managers: "How do you say unprofessional in Spanish?". She then tried to pronounce the word a number of ways and kept asking: "How do you say unprofessional in Spanish?". The manager did not really answer, but for a few hard to hear mutters. When she rung the items up, she then stood there, saying nothing to me or looking at me. I asked: "Can I swipe my card?". She said yes, and turned her back to me. She was still in a moronic back and forth with the managers how to say: "How do you say unprofessional in Spanish?". When my card was approved she put my receipt in my bag and completely turned her back to me to ignore me entirely. She did not hand me my bags, they were left in the bagging area below the register where she once stood. I was stunned at the rudeness of the cashier and the utter indifference of the management only feet away in how a customer was just treated. I did not give one bit of rudeness to anyone there and did not deserve the treatment I received. I would not go back and I would tell anyone else the same. There are plenty of other options to get the products Total Beverage sells within a mile of that place all of which treat their customers better, appreciate your business and even have better prices. I've been to several Total Wines and by far this one is the worse. The place is a mess, there are empty boxes everywhere and the beer isle is a wreck. The singles isle is limited to other stores. What is there supposed to be there is really picked over. Over half of the selection is empty, the rest is a jumbled mess so you can't find anything. I'm not from the area so maybe this is the best craft selection in the area so I can't give you a better choice but why patronize this place? read more

Shittayyy. I am a loyal customer of the McLean store where I have ordered special release brews online/ picked up within hours. Because I did not see the latest series at the McLean location, I ordered online from the Springfield store and drove to Springfield from Arlington. The employees did not call to say I could only pick up one bottle per customer (had I known this I would have taken my business elsewhere). I drove to the Springfield location after having paid $13 online for a 6-pack, only to leave with 2 bottles (thanks to a friend who was with me). The employees did not review the order and I had to remind them that I was charged for a 6-pack. The transaction had to be refunded and I was only charged $1 for 2 bottles of beer because of a system glitch. I would have happily paid the $13 to receive what I had originally placed in my online shopping cart, which is what I've done in the past at McLean. I ended up going to Westover Beer Market to purchase 4 individual bottles of the same series (for a heftier price) without any remarks from the staff. I intended to give my money to Total Wine when I hit "submit" and drove out to Springfield but they didn't want it. The policy at Springfield seems ridiculous especially when you guys are losing out due to a system issue (again, I only paid $1 for two bottles of the brew... WTH). I'll stay in McLean. read more

Went to TW to pick up some "Bugs Juice" for a coworkers house warming gift. Needless to say that they had the Bugs Juice (actual name) and many other random wine bottles. Customer service at this fine establishment were good and wines plentiful so why am I not giving this place 5 stars. For one it is in the cut, if you do not know that phrase look it up and number two it is in Virginia in VA everything is separated if you want wine you go here, if you want liquor you go to the ABC if you want beer you go somewhere else Aaahhhh. That is an automatic deduction I want my Johnny 3 Legs, Smirnoff mojito, and Don Julio all in one spot is that too hard to ask. Great selection and store hours. I have to give a MAJOR shout out to Dylan, who really went above and beyond to help me find a not-so-popular wine I was looking for. It was late last night and the wine was in stock per their website, but hadn't been shelved yet, so I couldn't find it. He went through the trouble of checking several boxes above, then went on the floor physically to check the bottom back stock. He persisted until he was able to get me the bottles I wanted - I really appreciated his persistence as he was patient with me and was determined to provide great customer service. I have been shopping at his location for a couple of years now. For the most part the staff is great. They have a nice selection of beer (I am a beer guy not a wine guy) and it is close to the house. They have beer on tap now so you can pick up a growler, or just shop the shelves. They also have a keg fridge that is usually stocked with a nice selection including Delirium Tremens. My only issue is the price of beer now. I grabbed seven bottles a few days ago (three were 22oz bottles) and it was $49! read more

So I placed an online order for pickup at the wrong location...they could not honor the order since it was at a different store, but the manager ran around the store and picked up the 6 bottles we were getting in the order in under 3 minutes to accommodate us. The saga of bad customer service continued when we went to return the keg. We were greeted once again by a rude employee at the customer service desk. We were told we needed "3 receipts" to return the keg. Apparently, the fact that we had the credit card receipt, the keg was clearly marked as theirs AND the girl remembered us from being there 2 days before was not good enough. Not to mention we were never given these 3 magical receipts. Finally a manager came over and gestured and grunted towards the checkout line which we took to mean we could go through and get our money back for returning our keg. I had a great experience shopping at Total Wine in Springfield, VA. Chris helped me to choose wines for a tasting in my home. I brought in my menus and specified that I wanted only white wines. Chris met the challenge of matching wines with sweet and savory appetizers. He helped me calculate the number of bottles I'd need, guided me to options within my budget and offered tips on how to orchestrate the tasting. Due to his expertise, I hosted my first wine tasting for 30 happy guests! I also discovered several new wines and will be back to buy more. read more

Also, there's an older guy that works there, he's got a white beard, seems to have an attitude toward the younger crowd. Very Meh. Having been in four or five different Total Wine locations in different states, I can say that they all have impressive selections of beer and wine, so Springfield Total Wine does, too. That's why they get two stars. But the rest of the experience must include good service and a well-stocked store; and it did not. I've got to say, this was the most cluttered, unfriendly, and poorly organized Total Wine I've seen. So I'm in there trying to find Port City Tidings, a delicious local holiday beer. The Alexandria store was out of it and referred me to Springfield. While Alexandria's holiday brews were stocked all in one area, Springfield's holiday selections seemed to be all over the store at random. Some are mixed among the regular beer, some are piled in various corners. I walked the store for twenty minutes and still could not tell you if they have Port City Tidings. I didn't manage to spot any Port City beer at all, and you'd think a hometown brand would be displayed well, or at least easy to spot. I was willing to move on and get one of my other favorite holiday selections I'd tried from the other location, and I couldn't even find those! not even in the Seasonal area. And we're talking about very common brands that I'd just bought from a different Total Wine. The final straw for me was that at least four different employees were pushing carts around and stocking shelves--I was having to constantly get out of their way--and they never asked if I was finding everything okay or even said Excuse Me as they pushed past. Having to step aside for these carts so much without a word from the employees made me feel like I was in their way. Anyone who's worked retail will tell you that's unwelcoming and bad for business. So I'd had enough and decided to leave. Set my basket down, made eye contact with the cashier to see if she'd break the trend and say hello (she did not), and I just walked out beerless. What a bummer! I'd been hoping to pick up a lot of holiday beer to share with friends this weekend, and now I've simply learned that I'm better off avoiding this particular Total Wine. I will say that the Alexandria (Little RIver Turnpike) store was a million times more helpful and well-stocked, so I recommend going there instead. read more

(although I will go out on a limb and say their humidors have displayed less than desirable products as of late) if you want a beer they don't have presently, you can order it. This is a wine lovers paradise, well for me it is . They got so many wines, obviously but my favorite has to be the Oak Grove Cabernet! They also have a nice cigar selection of your a cigar kinds of person. And what's also good is that they have so many kinds of beer from different countries which I haven't tried yet but in time will. read more

Being new to the area, this was the place we bought wine for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We have a large family so get togethers are large and we buy quite a lot of wine. A couple of nights ago I went to get some sulfite free wine. When I asked about it I was put in my place. "There is no such thing as sulfite free wines" I was told. I felt like such an idiot. I guess I should have said "no added sulfites wine." So, although we have been there quite often, our business is going elsewhere. Perhaps Whole Foods, where they have organic "no sulfites added wine." At least there I am not an idiot. read more
