The Hilltop Wegman's has a few things going for it. I can tell you that they have a very good wine section, even including a few organic (no added sulfites) vinos. Wegman's also has excellent meat and seafood sections. The bakery is impressive. And one thing they have improved since we first shopped here five years ago is that they have toned down the blasting music that used to make us want to get fast out of Wegman's. The hot foods section used to be pretty good, but now it has shriveled down to next to nothing, The take-home pre-prepared meals, while very good in quality, are exorbitant. Plan on spending $16-$18 for a simple meal, which is as much as you would pay in a restaurant for the same stuff. While they have an abundance of self-check stations, Wegman's doesn't let you get cash back, like you can at Safeway. The self-check stations can be persnickety. Today, I encountered one machine claiming I had put an unchecked item in the bagging item before I had even started scanning my stuff. Yikes! But what I really don't like is how Wegman's does bagging. The Virginia legislature in 2022 passed a law allowing grocery stores to collect from customers 5¢ for each plastic bag used. Wegman's has completely done away with plastic bags, yet Wegman's but takes advantage of that law to charge 5¢ for each paper bag. I can finally say ... this is my favorite grocery store !! Starting with pharmacy, prices are unbeatable in comparison to all pharmacies near. Staff is always friendly and has often given me "emergency refills " of my dog's controlled medications when I've forgotten to call in advance. Their cafe ... no words .. from having a bar.. to coffee .. SUSHI? Perfect place to study with a large seating selection. As for groceries.. Always go to Wegmans, both this location & the one in Fairfax. Nothing beats their amazing selection of products! Zero argument there. We frequent Wegmans for a regular shopping as well as those items that others may consider a specialty but for us are part of every day life given our backgrounds, cultures, palates, and upbringing. They have such a wonderful variety & selection in every department; the bakery, deli, seafood, meat, frozen food, produce, health & wellness, dietary, home goods, wine, household, seasonal & the eatery with the self-serve, the sit down spots, or the restaurants. Wegmans ROCKS & if you can't find what you're looking for here then that's a surprise. I want to note that we recently went for a COVID-19 era shopping trip & I was thoroughly impressed with the sanitary measures in place. From the wipes at the front door, to the checkout line where there are spaces marked on the floor to keep you 6 feet apart & only letting one person go to a register at a time, to the self check out where there's a dedicated employee just to wipe down & sanitize every single surface that could've possibly been touched by the customer before you. I had The Gathering Catering package at work last month. I normally don't care for a pinwheel, but Wegman's pinwheel with Caesar salad was delicious!! This location is always out of items despite workers everywhere in the aisles with big boxes blocking shoppers. The produce staff are rude... don't bother asking them where anything is because they get annoyed and just say "if we have any it's probably over there" and seriously just points to the ceilings. Same with the sushi staff... just always in a bad mood! 50% of the time my fresh produce is spoiled at the bottom and I need to carefully read expiration dates on EVERYTHING because there are a lot of expired items in this store. I absolutely adore Wegmans! I grew up in California and we did not have Wegmans when I was growing up, so when I came to the East Coast and eventually stumbled on the supermarket chain called Wegmans, I was truly amazed! Wegmans is not only a giant supermarket, but it has some excellent fresh food selections as well. To say I'm obsessed with their sushi bar would be an understatement. And I really love their pre-made bowls, salads, etc. I always find exactly what I'm looking for at this particular Wegmans location. The food is excellent and always so fresh! They're well-stocked and have exactly what I need every time I visit. Service is great, the parking is plentiful and located in an outdoor lot right outside the store, and it's just a nice and convenient location. I always find joy in shopping at Wegmans, and shopping at this particular Wegmans was one of the activities I looked forward to the most in the early days of the pandemic. The store is clean and I just absolutely love the ambiance. I think it's worth driving 25 minutes out of my way to go to this Wegmans and I look forward to continuing to visit for years to come! read more

I couldn't find the right pie crusts for what I wanted to make. Everything I found was deep dish. I was told about Wegmans at my job one day so I made the trek there to see if they had what I needed and lucky for me they did. They carried the regular pie crusts for my chocolate pies. This made me happy. After I found my prize I went to look around. A pub with TV's in a grocery store? Wow. That's cool. I saw the deli and meat/fish department. Looked good. Store looked clean and organized and easy check out and friendly cashier. I'll have to go back another and load up on some fish and few other meats. I love some Wegmans. You will too. I've never been a bad one and I've also shopped them in NY, MD & PA. This one has to top all the others. The beer selection is awesome. The wine selection also. Don't come shopping on an empty stomach here or you'll empty your wallet and wear out your plastic too. LOL They have a restaurant that I need to try. I've eaten off the buffet tables a few times and the selections are fantastic. The free parking lot is huge and always packed even in the so call slow times. Some folks say the prices are high but for the quality, I don't think so. You can shop the Wegmans brand without noticing a slip in the quality to for lower prices. There are some Wegmans branded stuff better than the national brands, just like Trader Joe's brands. I could keep writing superlatives but you get the drift. You've read the other reviews. I went to Wegmans because of their gluten free selection. In particular: Gluten Free Egg Noodles. We're making a Gluten Free Kugle for someone with an allergy and I think they're just about the only place that you can find Manichevitz (sp?) Gluten Free Egg Noodles. Also, they have a HUGE Gluten Free Selection outside of that. It's basically a whole aisle. AND they have a little British section too AND they have a WHOLE refrigerator full of impossible meat. And yes, I look for niche products sometimes and wegmans has them. Why the four stars. I think they could really up the ante on their prepared foods. Wegmans is life changing. Other grocery stores have got NOTHING on this place. It's a grocery mega store where you can find your typical selection of food and snacks but in addition it also offers a huge selection of organic and freshly made services such as pizza, sushi, deli car, and a bakery. These put together make it so worth coming out here. Wegman's branded items are pretty cheap, check them out. This place is huge like Costco size huge. I wouldn't recommend buying your typical unhealthy snacks here because they are a bit expensive. Enter the store and then turn left, this is the jackpot. Healthy doesn't mean boring, they have a huge selection of cookies, brownies, muffins, pastries....they're a bit expensive but taste amazing and are made with more natural ingredients. I came here specifically for the deli bar, they cut the meat however you like and this is the place to go if you need quick, fresh, & delicious met for sandwiches or catering. Hooked on Wegmans! They've got everything here! It's basically the definition to one-stop shopping. Fom bonsai trees to Venus fly traps... From Sushi to amazing smelling sugar scrubs, Wegmans' got it all! BP and I went to this brand new location openings weekend with my parents. I was glad to see large parking lots with wide spaces and the Wegmans staff corralling unused carts so that they didn't end up hitting parked cars. The staff was so nice despite the store being chaotic Sunday night at 8:00 pm. My parents loved walking through all the spacious aisles and how everything was organized the same as other locations making items easy to find. I could not stop taking pictures:) BP and I came especially for the sushi. I liked how the trays were organized: Raw, Cooked, and Vegetarian. BP and I stuck to the cooked and bought a few. My favorite was the shrimp tempura but I also liked the lump crab with the Wegmans equivalent of Yum Yum sauce drizzled on top. So delicious! read more

I must admit I do not understand what all the noise is about Wegmans. It is a huge supermarket to be sure. But size here does not equate to quality. Outside of a few items I find here that I cannot find in other markets (and the same is true of them), it is rather an ordinary grocery store. I do like the fact that Wegmans has a very nice olive bar and stocks Healthy Choice Tomato Basil Soup (other stores stopped stocking this variety about two years ago) as well as a nice selection of Indian cuisine frozen dinners. Other than that, I'll stick to Target, Giant and Whole Foods. Wegmans' salad bar was hugely disappointing, with limp greens and a small assortment of toppings. We've tried Wegmans Pub on two occasions. It is a novelty to find a sit-down restaurant in a supermarket. The food is OK, but not worth the noise and crowded seating. So I'm in my 30's which means not only do I write reviews about grocery stores, but I actually update my reviews about grocery stores...because I just have SO MANY FEELINGS about going grocery shopping. When we last left off, I was 3 years younger and spawn-less so I was mostly impressed with Wegmans Wing Bar which was a life saver during those Super Bowl Sunday potlucks. Nowadays, I'm really impressed with how awesomely baby friendly the store is. As soon as you enter a hen pops out of a hen house over the bread aisle yelling "Cock-a-doodle-doo!" And if you are in the meat section, they have a giant train set that goes round and round and round. In fact whenever my daughter goes to any grocery store (not just Wegmans) she looks up and yells "Choo! Choo" and waits for the train to come around and is always sadly disappointed when it doesn't show. They also have a little play area in the in-store cafe which is pretty cool too (albeit a little run down and dirty). The aisles are wide and their selection of produce and goodies is mind blowing. Every time I walk around the aisles, daughter in tow. I breathe a sigh of relief. I pretend the tropical fruit I'm putting in my cart is from a Hawaiian roadside stand and not just some giant chain store in the suburbs. It's almost like a mini vacation! Their organic and natural food selection is wide and varied so I never have to make extra stops at special grocery stores which is what I usually have to do when I'm closer into the city. I'm absolutely addicted to their sourdough bread which doesn't have any extra additives like most other brands. And I dare you to find me a better guacamole! Prices are comparable if you have a Wegmans card and don't forget to buy their organic chocolate chip cookies in the bakery aisle before you leave. Feedback for the Wegmans Management Team to address. The pizza team was visibly unconcerned the night of 16 Dec 2022 between 1820-1900hrs. I walked up to the pizza counter and stood there in plain sight without being greeted, purposeful lack of eye contact. Pizza took 20 min more than stated. During pick up someone eventually addressed the woman whom was there prior to me. After that interaction the pizza team member walked away and totally ignore me until I waved them back. This isn't how any customer service team should operate. Resolution: Greet people (acknowledge their presence) and if busy, let them know you'll be with them soon. Wegman's is a new supermarket that finally opened in the old golf course area. I really love this place for the size (huge!) and also how well managed it is. In addition, Wegman's just has so many components---there are the normal supermarket parts like fruits and veggies and other food, but they also feature other things like a sushi bar, buffet with seasonal food, a pub, and spaces to just sit down and eat. Wegman's also has a good vision for being green, promoting the use of recyclable bags, and also likes to sell organic products; one of my favorite organic foods is their freshly squeezed orange juice---give it a try if you have time. Really happy to have this place open, and I continue to visit it regularly, whether it is for a snack or lunch or even just meeting with a friend. read more

COVID-19 review: I used to go to Wegmans twice a week pre-Covid. Yes, just take my money, Wegmans! ...until March 2020 rolled around... I went once early in the pandemic and it was a sh#tshow. They just let everyone into the store at once without a care in the world, even when guidance was out about limiting people in the store. Because I memorized the store layout, grabbing groceries that I need (or what was left) was quick. But then the line weaved around the store... Around people trying to grab groceries from the shelves. There were "stay 6ft apart" markers but people had to pass you within 6ft to grab the milk and whatnot. Again, they welcomed everyone in all at once. It made it seem they only cared about making money and not the safety of its shoppers. I stopped going until I caved in June and July... What a mistake. There were definitely less people and everyone wore a mask but the bakery (I think the bread section too) had fresh baked items in their old display UNCOVERED or OPEN bags. As much as I love the bread and baked goods, you can charge $0.01 and I wouldn't even purchase it because of the potential COVID germs that those things are collecting. I enjoy Wegmans very much. My visits have mainly been for lunch, and I haven't seriously shopped here. The prices are on the higher end, when compared to other grocery stores. I mean, who really comes to Wegmans to get cheaper prices? The staff doesn't interact with customers that much, but they will be happy to answer a question if you need it. The cashiers are friendly and professional. There is adequate parking for this size store. However, parking can be limited because they are always packed with customers. The produce is very fresh and is of good quality. They carry most of your mainstream brands of goods that you'd find at other stores. They also carry goods that you might not find at other large chain grocery stores. I like the additional variety they have added. Sometimes I come across a product I'm interested in trying out. I LOVE their food line! I warn you that is can get pricey. The food is priced per pound. There are so many delicious options to choose from, my take-out tray ends up costing more than expected. I enjoy the diverse food options offered. Whatever you're in the mood to eat, you can probably find it at Wegmans. They offer everything from pizza and made-to-order sandwiches, to sushi and Indian cuisine. The bakery sales delicious cookies and pastries, if you want a dessert after your meal. You can take your food to go, or you can sit at either a booth or table in the lounge area to enjoy your meal. There is also a Pub that serves food and alcoholic beverages. Wegmans is located not that far from our house in Alexandria. The store has its own huge parking lot, so you always find a parking space for your car. I focused on the organic part of the store and found exactly what I needed. They have organic beef and chicken, cottage cheese and eggs. This is a good grocery store I recently found out about. I love their cheese trays for wine. It's compact and very tasty. I was impressed of their deli and international food section. Although, they do not have many kind of international food, you still can find something for your family. For me, the store is definitely worth a trip back. read more

I hate to punish my local Wegmans for this decision since it was a corporate decision but I'm giving Wegmans 1 star until they bring back the old pizza recipe. The new recipe is the worst pizza I've ever had. It looks bad, it tastes bad, it's smaller, and the dough is usually raw in the middle and burnt on the edges. It's a complete disaster. Why did you ruin something that wasn't broken Wegmans? I stayed loyal when you took away the seafood sub that I loved. I tried Wegman's meals 2go for the first time last night and well...it didn't go too well. I used the app to place my order for two pizzas and wings. Once I entered the order, I had trouble entering my payment information. After several attempts, I called the Wegman's line to ask if orders were still available and if there was another way to pay for my order. The guy on the other end explained the app was the only way to pay for the order and that it was known for being "glitchy". He informed me to continue trying to enter the payment information. I tried once more and it finally accepted my payment. Next, I received the confirmation of the order. Approximately 20 minutes later, I got a call from the same Wegman's guy asking if the order had arrived. It was before the estimated time so I informed him the order had not arrived. He explained the Door Dash switched drivers and the order was en route. Great, so I thought. After 10 minutes, the delivery didn't arrive. I called back Wegman's and spoke to the same guy to inform him. I was told that he would contact the Door Dash driver and call me back. He did call back to say that Wegman's was refunding my money because the order couldn't be delivered. He apologized several times for the mix-up. Bottom line, I can't say I'm too impressed with Wegman's meals 2go and Door Dash. Perhaps I'll try it again when I can pick it up. read more
