I was excited to come in and stock up on some wine for our Christmas and New Year celebrations. We called ahead looking for a specific item and the girl said they didn't carry it. However, the website said they did? So we decided to come in and double check... My husband asked the young man at the counter (near the entrance) about the item and before he could finish, the girl standing next to him rudely interrupts and says, "I already told you on the phone we don't have that!" We quickly picked up a few bottles of wine and now we're at the checkout and another rude girl just starts ringing everything up without even looking at us. She's like a robot and says absolutely nothing...no greeting, no happy holidays, not even a thank you when we leave...nothing. Just a frown. I dunno who trains these dummies, obviously noone or maybe another dummy. But I plan to take my business elsewhere and so should you, somewhere where I am treated with some kindness and respect. Have you ever been to Chick-fil-A? You will get better treatment at a drive-thru than this place. No need to put up with some grouchy, rude, unfriendly, rotten angry girls who are clearly in the wrong line of work! Put these dummies in the back stockroom and keep them away from customers! Never been to a total wine and more before, and only went here because the friends I went to dinner with needed to pick up an item on way home. This location is in the woodlands near mall. Big store, looks new with bright colors and decor. Huge bldg and seemed to have everything anyone needs for drinking and entertaining Plenty of parking in a shared lot and not sure why but when checking out there was only 1 cashier...although I saw 3-5 other workers roaming around and it was Sat approx 7-730pm They were not slam busy but there was 4-6 people waiting in line for the 1 cashier...we were not in a hurry so it didn't matter but cannot speak for others in line .. I feel a manager could've stepped up and jumped on a register to for a few mins to help the cashier as she did seem and appear frustrated or maybe in need of a break. Bought 3L of "Premium Select" Pacific Peak Sauvignon Blanc selling at a 20% discount below my usual. I'd never had Pacific Peak, but it sure did not taste like Premium Select, but more like "Primarily Sewage." I've had wine I did not like, but I've Never returned one. NEVER! Made a Dive into TW&S on the way back home 12/1. I had 2 things on my list (Volume Buys for Holiday Gifts) and a new Ice Cube Tray. THEN..... a friendly and knowledgeable young man named ALEC inquired if he could offer me samples of distilled spirits. He looked into my buggy... reached into his display table and produced 3 samples which were ALL WINNNERS. I bought 3 Additional Whiskys and an INCREDIBLE single malt from Georgia, USA.... Alec has Talent, Product Knowledge, Knows People and inspires confidence to follow his suggestions. IF he were my employee, I'd give him a TON of room to run so he'd make me look really, REALLY Good at my job. Ask for ALEC, answer his questions about your preferences... Take his Advice. They did not have what I was looking for, but they always carry a large selection of pretty much anything.

Easy to get in and grab what I needed and leave. I love that you can buy individual beers, ciders, and wines. I've been able to try many different varieties of beers, wines, and spirits because you can just grab one or two and pay just a few dollars. The staff were very nice and helpful when I had a question about building a six pack. There is not a flat price for this and you pay for the individual cost of the beers. Total Wine is my go to store for wine, beers, and spirits. I love that they have a rewards program, but it does take a while to build up points to put towards a reward. read more

I've recently gotten into collecting Champagne, particularly ones that come in presentation boxes (if available), and when I visit a city, I always make it a point to visit a TW&M location. When on my way to have lunch with a friend, I stopped by the Memorial location and happen to see a bottle that was on my list so I grabbed the opportunity to buy it. The mall where I was going to meet my friend had a TW&M location nearby (The Woodlands) and figured since I will be purchasing from that location as well, I would ask for temporary fridge space just for a couple of hours to store the one that I bought from Memorial and that The Woodlands team wouldn't mind -- or so I thought. I explained my predicament to the gentleman at the customer service booth and was instantly met with "I am not comfortable with having a paid item in my store." I acknowledged the response. I did ask a question that invoked a yes or a no response. From a customer standpoint, however, I would've expected at least a few questions or the response could've been delivered in a nicer way. Clearly, having asked that question I am aware of the associated risk of possibly mishandling my paid item while inside their store but I was confident that nothing will happen. Now I had a $300+ champagne bottle that sat in my rental. Any respectable wine connoisseur would understand the situation that I was in. read more

We have been going to Total Wine since it opened and we run a charity event and have spent $1000 per year on gifts for that event. I went to the store and went to check out with my EIN number so we could save on taxes for the charity and the cashier had to consult the manager. The first manager told me I had to fill out a form on line and when I asked her if she had any in store she said no. I told her that didn't make sense and then she went to a second manager who said he would get the form. Then he came to me and asked me for my EIN card which there is no such thing. They continued to give me the runaround and did not want to be bothered with helping a charity. Needless to say I walked out without buying a thing and will not return. The complacency and unwillingness to help customers was amazing to me. read more

Just had a questionable experience at this location. I attempted to purchase two different bottles of bourbon and was told I could only purchase one because they were both allocated and allocated bottles were limited to one per person. After checking several total wine stores in the area, including the corporate office, I was told the bottle I purchased was not allocated. Perhaps each store has the right to determine which bottles they consider allocated but this location should do a better job and post or display quantity limits on the shelf instead of placing a customer under surveillance while standing in line and then confronting them at the register. First they have a pretty great selection of craft beers wine and whiskey, but the customer service is absolutely ridiculous. I came in here with my girlfriend and my niece which I have full guardianship over/legal custody. I was rudely asked multiple times if I was her legal guardian instead of being POLITELY asked. I let the manager know over and over again yes I have full LEGAL guardianship over my niece. I understand that maybe your life is perfect and you've never have to go live with another family member but not everyone has that LUXURY. After repeatedly letting the manager know I was LEGAL guardian it took me telling her that she lived with me. Now why in the hell would I let a 10 year old drink? There were plenty of other people with kids there and I didn't hear them get asked ANY of the questions I was being asked. Absolutely rude manager. read more

I went in last night to take advantage of their tastings they offer on Fridays and Saturdays. Upon walking in I saw two people leaving with carts full of booze. I was wondering to myself, who are these people who leave a beer, wine and liquor store with carts overflowing. Typically when I buy wine, I pick out six bottles (to save the extra 10%) and I can carry them out. Well, upon entering, I quickly found out what all the fuss was about. I went to the tasting counter for wine and tried 5 of the 6-7 bottles and walked away with 3 of them. The lady working the counter was knowledgeable and poured enough wine for about 3-4 sips. Then I browsed the wine department and wow do they have a big selection. The prices are in line with HEB's, which is pretty darn good. I picked up three more bottles to get my 10% discount. Then I headed to the non-alcoholic section and again, Total Wine and More is blowing me away with their selection. About 15 different types of near beer. The normal grocery store has 2-3. So I got a couple of six packs that were new to me and two bottles of NA wine. Next, I move to the beer tasting section and they have two vendors set up and I try two beers from one and three from the other and walk away with two more six packs. Total Wine and More also had vendors sampling whiskey, vodka, and cider but I didn't sample those. Upon checking out I signed up for their rewards club with just an email address. Once you accumulate so many points you get $5 off. The selection is great, space is nice and open, stock is well organized and pricing is on point. My only negative is that my mom was looking for a specific bottle and was sent to customer service to request it. Once we arrived at customer service, an employee had to be paged, and he didn't smile or greet us. My mom told him what she was looking for and he told her to go online. She asked a couple more questions and again his response was, "go online". Everyone else we encountered was friendly and helpful though. read more

I would love this place more if they ever had staff to help you. While prices are good, I can never get help at this place in The Woodlands. Wa in today and needed assistance with Single Malt Scotch. No one around. Went to the front and asked a guy (manager?) for assistance...he told me someone would be there to assist. Nope. no one. waited a few more minutes. Nothing. WAY better than any Specs. Extremely organized, large selection, and visually pleasing to the eye. There are plenty of employees to assist, and there are several samples on the weekends. Additionally, there is a wine bar and a tasting classroom in the back. I was overwhelmed and shocked upon entering, as most liquor stores make you want to run in and out, but I found myself browsing like I would in a clothing store. Well done Total Wine!! Went to grand opening and I'm impressed with the selection and organization/layout of the store. I appreciated the written info. for each product, especially the serving suggestions/accompaniments/recipes. What impressed me most was finding my favorite and hard to find gin....Monkey 47! They even carry two sizes! They also had just about every bitters and vermouth you could ever need. PROS and CONS: PROS: Much better prices and selection than Specs and eons better than any of the mom and pop liquor stores. Why people shop those stores amazes me. Same price CC or cash unlike Specs gimmick. Highly organized isles and really helpful employees. CONS: Never more than two check out lines are open and quite often a long line at each one. Why even have the other check out stations just taking up space. Use that area for more stock or merchandise. The rewards program is a joke as you have to remember to bring in the printed coupon or have the email on your phone. You can't just give them your phone number on file to redeem your earned points and discount. And there is a catch, it expires in just 45 days. read more
