TW&M is huge. It's a big box chain, and that's not so bad because it allows them to have almost anything you'd want. The selection of wine, beer, and spirits here is top notch. The frequent tastings near the entrance are great, and the people pouring are usually pretty great. My only gripe is if you ever ask an employee for suggestions, you'll almost always be pushed toward a Winery Direct label which is their house brand. This isn't all bad and there are lots of great options, but it's definitely buyer beware especially in the spirits area. If you think "Gee, I've never heard of this brand!" you're probably right because no one else sells it. That being said, if you're looking for something specific the employees are pretty knowledgeable and will help you out as much as they can. Total Wine and More is really the only big liquor/spirits store that is left in midtown Tucson, so if you like big chains, this is the place for you. The store itself is very clean and they do offer some perks if you join their rewards club. The club is definitely not worth it for the coupons/discounts, but they do offer some free wine and beer tasting classes to their members, which can help you develop your tasting ability. The one thing to warm you about with this store is that they probably don't check their craft beer selection often enough because we have gotten expired beer there in the past. This place is a joke. I walked around their store for about 10 minutes looking or what I needed. No one said anything about wearing a mask. When I got to the register, with a pretty expensive bottle of whiskey, they refused to ring me up. Keep in mind, I was talking with an employee about bourbon, and she didn't mention it either. They did offer to get me a mask, but at this point, it's either about control, or it's just symbolic. It's no longer about safety. Our governor in Arizona has rescinded all mask mandates! They have the right to require whatever they want, just as I have the right to go to a locally owned liquor store. They probably need my business more anyway. I just learned something amazing about Total Wine's coupons. Much like those at Bed Bath and Beyond, Total Wine's coupons don't actually expire. They may have dates printed on them, but the barcode numbers never change in their system. So if you get a coupon in the mail or find one online, it is probably still good! I'm uploading an expired coupon that I just used. I didn't even have to print the coupon, I showed it to the cashier on my iPhone and she accepted it! Really, this place has a great selection of wines, beers, and other beverages. I like this place a lot better than BevMo. Total Wine = Totally Awesome! The staff is friendly and helpful which is always such a great thing to encounter. There are wine tastings on the weekends (which are free). Then if you enjoy one of the wines, they will provide you with a coupon for that particular wine. Another bonus is that the wine tastings are generally informative. You are able to learn about the variety of wines (there were eight wines to taste today) and chat with the other customers that are tasting. Today I learned about an Australian wine from another customer, which led to me deciding to purchase a bottle. Things I love- such an awesome selection, descriptions of the wines (super helpful!) and very reasonable prices. So reasonable that I left with two excellent bottles for a mere $17.43. Being from Utah, I'm constantly shocked by how much alcohol you can fit into one building - at a fairly decent price. Total Wine is never a disappointment, and it's always fun to browse whether it's for 20 minutes or over an hour. My most recent stop in sent me straight to the beers - I needed my La Folie (New Belgium) fix, and behold!!! Total Wine served me well with my beer version of a soulmate. This beer is harder to find than I'd like it to be, but Total Wine became my shining star. One word- Overwhelming! This place is so huge it is easy to get lost in this store and find yourself wandering out hours later dehydrated and disoriented. In order to avoid this however, find a staff person and they will tell you everything you need to know about everything you want to know, and if they can't, they will find someone who can! I came during Christmas time and was searching for Gluhwein (a sweet German red wine) and the staff lady I asked led me straight to it- saved a bunch of time. After she led me to it she told me how simple it was to make yourself in case they are ever out (which happens a lot during the Holidays). She gave me the recipe and I was in and out of there in a matter of minutes. I highly recommend this place for everything you normally buy and everything you don't. read more

Walked in on a weekday morning before my flight back to Seattle. With the high taxes on privatized liquor in Seattle and two free check in bags on SW, why not fill up your luggage with booze from AZ and bring it back to Seattle? The folks at Total Wine are always helpful and nice (booze brings everyone closer together). We hunted down a guy on the tractor and had him bring down a case of Lillet Blanc and another of The Knott, and he was happy to oblige. There's no discount on hard liquor in bulk but there is on wines. And after ingesting a case of the Knott, discounts wouldn't matter anyway. The layout of this store is like any other Total Wines I've been to and the stuff is pretty much the same, except there might be a better selection of alcohol from a certain region just from the fact the store is located in that region. it's just a liquor supermarket but it's expensive. the only thing that's good (maybe) is their website. too many items are out of stock, quite a few of their European products are junk that Europeans themselves do not want to drink, and if you want to buy something more expensive it's locked up (they tell me they have a theft problem). If you need something from the locked closet the staff make you understand that it's a major inconvenience and generally, it's under-staffed with poorly trained workers who can be very rude (as others on here have also noticed). I found that a smaller family run liquor store not too far from them (Plaza liquor). they are better at sourcing (total wine just tell you they are out), more knowledgeable, and you get personal service and friendly advice if you ask for it. I've shopped at Total Wine for several years at the Park Place location, always going in alone. I never had an issue with the store and they had a good selection of my beer and spirits of choice. Last night I met my mother for dinner and afterwards she realized she needed to stock up on Perrier water, so we bopped over to Total Wine. We perused the store with no issues and leisurely went up to the checkout counter to buy the water. I was standing next to and talking with my mother the whole time. During the transaction, the cashier completely ignored me and turned to my mother and said "Are you mom?" We both instantly froze and had baffled looks on our faces. Before I could say something about this, my mother interjected and said "Why did you ask me that?" She proceeded to explain that people under 21 have to be with a parent or guardian. This is the most insulted I've ever felt at a store. I'm a local businessman who's *far* north of 21, so much so that I'm at the stage where I welcome getting carded. But instead of being carded or asked my age (which is also a silly policy, considering that most every store and restaurant that sells liquor lets younger people in, especially if they're with someone clearly older), I was completely disrespected and treated as if I were a child. We did not complete our transaction and as a frequent customer who purchases expensive spirits from Total Wine, I will never be back. I complained to both the shift manager and store manager after this incident occurred and was treated very rudely, even though they admitted I was wronged by their cashier. Clearly a toxic store culture who treats their clientele like criminals. You'll see more instances of this in other Yelp reviews of the Oracle store. There's plenty of other places to purchase spirits in Tucson where you're not treated like dirt. Avoid Total Wine at all costs. read more

This store has highly illogical and unreasonable requirements to purchase items. I was in there the other day with my friend (she is under 21 and I am not). We were trying to purchase glasses for a present (no alcohol whatsoever). Apparently the policy goes if not everyone in your party is 21+, o thing can be bought. There are always plenty of staff walking around to answer any question you might have regarding any of their products, and everyone I've ever talked to has been exceedingly friendly. Naturally, my personal go-to aisle contains their extensive collection of the finest boxed wine one can buy. Total wine isn't quite as extensively curated as a place like Plaza Liquor, but their options are limitless. They often have booze tastings, which has proven to be the best sales strategy of all time - I've definitely gotten pretty buzzed on tequila and walked out with $200 of alcohol. No regrets. They also offer a huge selection of alcohol and bar-tending accessories and accouterments (glasses, ice trays, bar tools, etc.) that make excellent gifts for your imbibing loved ones. What I love about TW: When you need something specific, this place has it. And, if you need recommendations, the staff is super knowledgeable. I needed a vodka that would mix well in a punch without overwhelming and the recommendation given by the staff member was spot. on. I got tons of raves about the punch. What I dont love about TW: When you need a staff member, they are NOWHERE to be found. I was recently in to find a whiskey for a party and thought I'd meander over to the beer section to see if they'd had a cool porter I'd heard about. I couldn't find it. I couldn't find an employee to assist. I went up to the front desk where TWO people were behind the customer service area and both ignored me. I literally started to say something and they both scattered like rats. I then asked a cashier for help. She spoke into her little earbud thing asking for assistance in aisle XYZ. I went to aisle XYZ. I waited in aisle XYZ for about 10 minutes before I finally just left. Left the bottles of whiskey I was intending to purchase. Left the store. Not sure I'll ever return. One of my law school graduation gifts was a $200 Total Wine gift card. I honestly don't know what was more exciting-- graduating or having a shopping spree at Total Wine. I decided I wanted to use my gift card to stock my home bar with the basics--tequila, vodka, gin, rum, and some liqueurs. I don't often buy liquor, so I decided to go with brands I knew-- Kettle One, Bombay Sapphire, etc. One of the Total Wine folks on the floor asked me if I needed any help. I told him my mission was stocking my home bar. He then recommended some brands that he thought were better than the ones I picked out, not to mention cheaper. He took time to show me where his recommendations were and why he liked them. Not only was it great that he was super helpful, but how often do you go shopping and the sales person actually helps you to try and save money? Thanks to his recommendations, I had plenty left over to also grab several bottles of wine, and peruse the craft beer aisle for some single servings I had been wanting to try. The store itself has a great selection, and is a pretty good size. Also, I went to this location a second time, and the customer service was great again. My only wish is that they would display the Arizona wines more prominently, especially considering Tucson's proximity to the Southern Arizona winemakers. They are tucked in the last row towards the back of the store, where they are literally gathering dust. read more

This review is for the growler station only. You would think that a place focused on quality beer would understand the common man doesnt have bar quality sanitizing equipment at home. That's asking way too much of total wine. When you bring your used growler back, they will not replace it with a new one. Instead it only gets a quick rinse under the tap before new beer goes in. That's gross. Replacing the growler is common practice and I won't be going back for growlers until they change. read more

While the selection of beers at Total Wine seems pretty excellent on the surface, you should be wary of what you are actually picking up. What might look like a fresh new collaboration or seasonal could be several seasons old, because they don't seem to rotate their selection...ever. Granted, a place called Total Wine should specialize more in wine, but if they are going to try and pander to beer lovers, they need to get it together. Another big problem with this store is their terrible customer service. On multiple occasions I have been told an item is either in stock and not yet in the system (so I can't purchase it until later) or that it is there, but no sales associate can seem to locate it in back stock. Just this weekend I attended a party at which the host graciously provided a keg from Total Wine. It was given to him with the wrong type of tap, and furthermore the proper tap was not even available from the store, leaving the host of the event with a pretty unfortunate situation on his hands. Fortunately, better stores in the Tucson area had the appropriate tap ready, but it is fully unacceptable to sell a keg of beer without the right equipment to get it out of said keg. If you know exactly what you want and where to find it in the store, by all means, shop here. Otherwise, spend your money at local Tucson liquor stores where the selection will be matched with much better customer service and reasonable prices. read more

Whatever that can get you drunk can be found under this one roof... Indeed, I have never in my life seen such massive quantity, variety, and quality of booze within four walls. And I went to the University of Arizona. The comments posted in other reviews here are pretty much spot on. The place has an impressive selection of predominately wine and spirits. They also devote some shelf space to beer. To top it all off, they also decent-sized humidor filled with the expected brands of cigars. I went in with purchasing a wine from an Arizona vineyard in mind. There wasn't a huge selection as I thought there would have been, but they could be attributed to the fact that there simply aren't that many wine vineyards in this state. The funny thing is that it's located in the odds and ends area of wines, next to wines from New York and Hebrew-made stuff. I was fairly amazed how crowded the place was at 9:45 in the morning on a Friday. There were around a dozen or so patrons, some with freaking shopping carts. I thought to myself that there are a lot of drunks in Tucson. Then I realized that I was there, too. The prices are extremely reasonable (I think of Total Wine as the Wal-Mart of alcohol in terms of their purchasing power), and the service is both helpful and friendly. As just mentioned, Total Wine is a total chain. I'm pointing this out because I feel like I'm cheating on the many great local establishments, like Plaza Liquor, in favor of the younger, more attractive model with her many temptations and plentiful endowments. read more

Total Wine is my enemy. I must not step foot into this place, lest I be tempted to buy... well, everything. This is a building that feels enormous, because it is. There is liquor on every aisle. I feel like a kid at Toys-R-Us walking in. An entire section devoted to absinthe? Evil and sinful! And man it's a big collection. A rum aisle... a tequilla aisle... massive amounts of wine, beer, mixers, chasers, mini bottles, snacks, beverages, and stuff I'm not even sure about. Browsing Total Wine is endless. My liver trembles when I get close to the store. There are often decent specials on many brands, and there is also sugar-free drink mixes if you are watching your figure or are diabetic (thus you can guzzle all that booze and not worry about gaining weight. We have been there several times. As you know, the selection is great. What terrible is their customer service. If you know what you're looking for, no problem. Heaven forbid you have a question, or ask if they have fresher beer in the back. We were there today. My dad was looking for fresh beer. He went to customer service, and asked an older, not so gentleman named, Paul. He could barely look away from his computer to help him. He would sigh, like it was just so inconvenient for him to help a customer. He kept sighing and acting like he wished we would just go away. My dad made the comment that "they always have an attitude here, but Paul is one of the worst." He looked as if he could barely contain Rolling his eyes. Really? We are customers. Leaps and bounds better than Bevmo. Once you shop here you will never waste your money at a grocery store again for liquor. Great prices and selection for everything. Oh and the staff make you feel like they are one of your close friends. Ask them anything, ANYTHING, they know about EVERYTHING. I regularly pick up the bottles that have specific staff members' pictures next to them and have never had a bad one. I will tell you right now get a bottle of Summum vodka and Rivata D'Asti Moscato. These are two of the many recomendations that have been worth while and most of all didn't break the bank. Now don't confuse staff picks with Total Wine picks. I strongly suspect Total Wine gets more money selling some stuff over others. When you see a big Total Wine written endorsement on a specific product I wouldn't always go with it. Go to the ones with specific staff pictures next to them, or better yet just pick a bottle of something that looks good and ask a staff what they think. The cigar collection here is great too and the prices are about the same as any smoke shop, but if you have the time you will find better deals online. read more
