I have used Totem Pole 2x and have been 100% satisfied with their service and skill. I had a pair of boots that needed re-heeling which they did well and in a timely fashion. I am hard on my shoes/boots and many months later these boots with their new heels are holding up well. I also had another pair of boots stretched to hopefully fit my feet better... so much better! This is an old-school shoe repair shop; no split focus on the retail side of shoes!!! I wear Birkenstock sandals and he's authorized by the factory to perform this work. As well as the re-soleing, I need to have a lift inserted into one side. He's done this twice for me with excellent results. But my last repair outshone his previous work - this was inserting a lift into a heavy duty Birkenstock sandal built with a Vibram hiking boot sole. Sufice it to say this was very complicated re-construction work done excellently. A couple of caveats however - he runs a cash only business and repair times can run long. But the high quality craftsmanship you receive more than make up for these minor inconveniences. Ivan gets 5 out of 5 stars! read more

They eventually reached out but only because of my initial review. They fixed another pair at no cost since the pair that lasted an hour was already outgrown by my young son. I moved a week after they fixed the second pair over an hour away, and amidst moving, their very limited hours, and the wait time, I'll admit it took me a very long time to be able to pick them up. They were diligent about getting them to me and eventually had someone stay later so I could make it in time. That effort is why I give 4 stars. However, hours in the service industry being "bank hours" make it impossible for the standard 9-5 to get there in time. If that's you, there may be a better location. If you work retail or odd hours, the work is good and they are very sweet--this may be just your spot as long as the hours work for you. read more

This well established shoe repair shop does an excellent job. The young man who is the cobbler there repaired and put a new sole on my husbands favorite boots. Got a topy rubber sole from Totem Pole put on a new pair of Wolverine 1000 Mile leather-soled boots in Spring 2016. I was satisfied with the work and it served its purpose for about 50 wears so far in all kinds of weather. The topy at the tip of the boots are now starting to delaminate, so I'll be dropping by to see if they can add a drop of adhesive. Also I gave them a pair of kid Birkenstock sandals that my child destroyed a large chunk of cork sole by dragging her feet. The owner was able to do a really clean job to fuse a new piece of rubber to save this pair. Prices were reasonable and conveniently located in my neighborhood. read more

Stopped in and asked about getting a seat cover seam restitched, only 12 inches long. Quoted $30 plus tax and a 3 day wait. Wow, $30 for a few minutes work? Decided to try another shop, stopped at Cascade shoe repair on mill plain. The young man said stitch it right then for $10. It literally took 2 minutes total. Would not return to totem. read more

This is strictly my opinion and experience with Totem Shoe Repair. I have a pair of Dan Post Albuquerque steel toe boots. I've worn the soles out to the point they need repaired. After a google search and reading reviews I decided to go with Totem Shoe Repair sense their reviews were good. On Monday morning 9/21/2020 I brought my boots in. The gentleman was friendly and came up with an solution to fix my boot and showed me the tread that he would be using. I agreed and told him I'd pick them up next Monday. Monday morning 9/28/2020 I was about to leave the house when I get a message saying my boots would be ready at 16:30. I asked how come and was informed he was just started on my boots. A tad frustrated sense I was thinking I would be picking up boots that morning. Sense that time frame wouldn't work for me, i let him know id be in Friday to pick them. I go Friday afternoon to pick them up and to my surprise the soles were completely different than what we had discussed. He said the other one wouldn't work. I would've appreciated a phone call letting me know sensei was not a fan of the soles that were chosen. I paid the $100 and took my boots home. Later that evening I put them on and immediately saw something was not right. The sole on one the boots was much wider and gave the boot a clown shoe look to it. Upon further inspection I found the nails on the heel were not set in all the way so you would here them when you walked. One nail was set crooked and sticking out to the point it would scrape up hard wood floors. They are closed on the weekend so I waited until Monday, and first thing Monday morning I went to see how we could fix the sole. He acknowledged it was off and tried to sand it down. While that did help a bit it was not fixed. He said there was nothing else he could do. So with no other options and extremely frustrated I left the boots sense I would not be wearing them. The service was friendly enough, it's the craftsmanship I have an issue with. Now I'm out the money and a pair of boots I would not wear. The fella seemed nice, it's very disappointing that the boots are ruined though. This is my experience with this shop. He seems to have good reviews so I believe he must do some good work.
