In terms of course layout, maintenance, and general quality, Totteridge is nicer than a municipal course. That said, the course charges resort-course green fees that I believe are too high for what's offered here. As of now, the weekend green fees is roughly $90, and I feel like $60-70 is more on par for what it should be. The course itself is challenging, but fair. There aren't any greens that are impossible, and there are several yards of rough on each side of the fairways before you get into serious hazards (meaning the average golfer has a little room to miss before being penalized, which I like). And the grounds crew does a nice job keeping the fairways and greens in good condition (though par 3 tee boxes could be improved). Overall, I'd come back and play again every once and I while, but I wouldn't make it a home course because it's a bit overpriced in my eyes. read more

Fun but challenging links style course. Greens are super fast and tricky but the course is in overall great condition. Fantastic range facilities, chipping green, and even a short par 3 practice hole for wedge work. Great for play and practice. read more

Very solid course. Lots of elevation change, a few creeks here and there, and well kept with fast greens. The course plays relatively tough, but if you know which side of the fairway to lean towards the course becomes much easier. I can no longer recommend this course to friends. I have played here 2-3 every year for the last 10 years. I probably play 12-15 different courses a year. The layout is nice with nice greens. Clubhouse staff is very nice. But when you start charging $85 a round you need to be in that upper tier in terms of quality. It is just not there for that price. For that price there are many resort courses that have amazing features and beautiful clubhouses for after round drinks and meals. This has none of that. Bunkers were not rolled over for Saturday play either. Inconsistent with the amount and quality of sand. Some traps have rocky sand and other traps barely had sand at all. This a $65 weekend course. Maybe they are going private again and just trying to price out the public. read more

We had a great time here. The course is challenging and was in decent shape for April. The bunkers weren't in any kind of shape though, it was nearly impossible to hit a good shot out of them. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I just wish it was a little closer to the city. I can see why they had to make it a public course. We'll definitely be back throughout the summer. I highly recommend making the drive out east for a round. read more

NOT CLOSED Open to the Public It was $35 to play this course on Tuesday with a Giant Hot Dog and a coke included in the price. The greens are some of the fastest public course greens i have played. It is a links style course with few trees and much heather so hit your drives straight. The course is about 20 to 25 minutes east on 22 from the turnpike in monroeville. Huge practice green and chipping area with sand trap. One of the better Dollar per hole courses i've played. read more

Totteridge was designed by Rees Jones and was originally opened as a private club. It has now opened to the public within the last few years and is managed by Foresight Golf. I have been wanting to play this course for a few years, as I usually enjoy Rees Jones designs, but live in Florida. I go back to PA several days a month to assist in elder-care matters with my parents. I got the chance to play the course on 6/29/15 after several days and a few inches of rain. Since my parents live 40 miles from the course, I called to ask about availability to play and was encouraged to come out. When I got out there, all of the staff were friendly and welcoming and they had a $39 rate for Monday that included a soft drink and hot dog at the turn. Rates run from $39-$57 and they do have senior rates (60-69) and super senior rates for golfers over 70. I played the course solo as the group getting ready to approach the first tee asked me to go ahead of them, and played the 18 holes from the Blue Tees which measure 6,659 yards. There are five sets of tees ranging from 5,307 yards to 7,154 yards. Course and slope ratings run from 66.4/122 to 75.8/139 for men and 72.4/129 to 79.1/143 for women. I teed off about 1:15PM and was finished at 5:08PM on a day that seemed pretty busy as there were a lot of cars in the parking lot. While I waited on a few shots on the group in front of me, I was just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery and elevation changes. While I had never played the course before, I did have a Sky Caddie with me to help me with distances and hazards. I only remember two blind shots on the course as the rest of the course featured elevation changes and the holes and landing areas were mostly visible from the tees and approach shots. The greens were in excellent shape and putted very true and steady. Teeing areas seemed a little spongy since there had been so much rain in the several days ahead of play. In spite of the large amount of water, the course seemed to drain well enough that workers were out there mowing and working on the tees and fairways. I also noticed that tee shots still bounced in fairways in spite of the extensive amount of rain the course had received in the prior couple days. According to the staff person I talked to, there are 80 traps on the course and many of them had been washed out or looked like they were being allowed to grow over. This did create a little confusion as I was unsure if some of the traps were washed out, were ground under repair, or what. I played everything down. The staffer I talked to indicated that they were reducing the number of traps from 80 to 30 something because of the extensive maintenance required and I believe to reduce costs. With the exception of the condition of the traps, Totteridge's only disadvantage is that it is literally located in the middle of farm country and not well marked to get there. It is 3.6 miles south of Route 22 on Hannastown Road and easy to find. I really enjoyed the course in spite of the course being so soggy and can't wait to go back and play it again when the course is dry. read more

Great potential but obviously financially distressed. Very interesting and challenging design with massive elevation changes and stunning views. Bunkers in total disrepair and greens in need of proper care. Staff friendly. Currently overpriced. Played today and was very impressed! This is a top notch layout and a very fair challenge. Elevation changes, fast greens, plush fairways, and a great price of 39.00 including the cart make this is a must play in Western PA. Free Hot dog and soda was a nice touch. read more
