The fish and chips were awesome!
Alan C.

I've been here to buy things from their store before, but never to eat. I'm glad I finally did. Lilian, the lady who runs the place is such a sweet person. The ladies who work there are also very nice. I've heard so many good things, I knew that I had to have the fish and chips. I ordered the two pieces of fish and chips with mushy peas, and a ginger beer. Wow! The fish was breaded perfectly, wonderfully crunchy, flaky and tender in the middle, and not soggy or greasy at all. The chips were steak fries! Crunchy on the outside, and tender on the inside, with a real British malt vinegar. I finally got to try mushy peas, and they were wonderful! They taste so much better than regular peas. The ginger beer was also a British ginger beer, and it had a bit of a spicy kick to it, as it has real ginger in it. This ain't no Canada dry Ginger ale... Even though it says "beer", it was non-alcoholic, but it definitely got my attention. I loved everything about the meal. Next time, I would only get one piece of fish instead of two, as it was so delicious, but it was a lot of food. The price was very reasonable. Before I left, I shopped in their store again. They have British frozen and regular goods, sauces, jams, and a good selection of candies. Prices in the store *are* a bit expensive, but everything is imported I got a white chocolate milky bar. And some smarties, which are much better than M&Ms. You cannot get either in the USA. I also got some *REAL* Cadbury chocolate. The stuff that they call Cadbury that is made in the USA, is actually made by Hershey's. There is absolutely no comparison. I will definitely be back. Thank you!

An expiration date of almost a year ago

Never again. I would definitely give this store zero stars if I could. I went in there to buy a few things and realized that everything I was getting was expired. When I spoke to the woman who I think is the owner about the fact the mince pies I wanted to get were a month past the best by date she stated "oh that's the sell by date It's fine." I'd rather not eat expired pork sausages or Mr Kipling pies that expired a year ago either

Honestly the best fish n chips I've had outside of the UK. I'm a huge fish n chips fan and was skeptical but now I'm a believer. The owner is the sweetest little British lady and she cooked it herself and said she's "very particular about the way she cooks her fish n chips" when I took the cashier "I'm very particular about my fish n chips. Highly recommended!

Took a spontaneous trip out to North Highlands to try this little, British restaurant. It t also runs as a grocery store of various, British, imported goods. Let's start from the beginning... The parking for Touch of Britian is fairly easy to access and there was plenty of parking on a Saturday at lunch time (11:30 am) Upon entering, there's the grocery part. I really love the selection. There was plenty of products I hadn't seen since I lived in Newton Aycliffe. It was nice to reminisce. There was digestives, teas, weetabix, crisps, candies & chocolates, frozen meat pies and bangers. Everything is very expensive though. I wanted an iron Bru but it was about $7 or $8 for one. The restaurant itself is clean, cute and quaint tea time vibes. We ordered the fish n chips with mushy peas and bread and butter. The fish had the best crispy batter I've ever had here in in the u.s. You could do asmr with that batter! Crispy and crunchy. There was steak fries, so not quite like the chips back in England but still good with all the condiments ; salt & vinegar. The mushy peas was delicious. Service was attentive, the waitresses were friendly, and we enjoyed our experience overall. We left with a bag of frozen roasties,& yorkshire pudding after a browse in their shop, I can't wait to make a Sunday roast!

2 piece fish and chips with baked beans and a side of buttered bread.

A charming little market and eatery. Good British food and lovely atmosphere, very homey feel. I ordered the fish and chips meal with the baked beans as a side, which also came with some buttered bread. Filled me up and was very satisfying! Highly recommend for lunch if you are in the North Highlands area.

These people were very very kind and friendly. More than that, I had the BEST fish & chips I've ever had in Northern California. I'm so thankful there is a REAL tea shop near me. It's just like the ones in the UK. Very authentic in decor. They also know the best way to pose you with the Queen who resides there .

The food was hot and delicious. The tea was authentic. I enjoyed my meal and had the best, buttery crumpet of my life! The space was very pink, and looked outdated. They also had a grocery area from which I happily bought Cadbury chocolate. I would go back for the food.

We learned more about British cuisine than our 3 trips to London on this hidden gem. It's not cheap but you come here for the experience. The pastie is the best one we've tasted. The fish and chips was better than what we had in London.

Sometimes this spells out trouble because I want to order the whole menu instead of a sensible amount of food. On my latest visit I ordered takeout and got the Tom Kha Soup with tofu ($13.50), Green Curry with tofu ($13.50), Kao Soy ($13.50), House Chow Fun with tofu ($13.50), Thai Tea ($4.50), and Thai Iced Coffee ($4.50). It was a lot of food, but I've learned House of Thai Rice & Noodle is best enjoyed family style where you get to enjoy a few things. The pricing is very reasonable for the portions and the flavor on the dishes is so good! I don't know what they do with their Chow Fun, but the noodles were so flavorful, soft and fluffy and didn't need any extra sauce. The Tom Kha soup is a comfort food for me and this is always a great option. I forgot to order rice with my curry, but eating it like a soup is equally satisfying. The Kao Soy was flavorful and the noodles were great with the broth and toppings. I've dined in and gotten take out and both are great experiences. The team here is so friendly and welcoming. When I order takeout, I typically order at the restaurant and wait and they always have me sit at a table and offer water or another drink while I wait. I do love dining in because the dishes are at their freshest and it makes for better photos. The dining are has plenty of seats and it comfortable. The plaza also has plenty of parking, but the spots nearest to the restaurant tend to fill up. If you're thinking about stopping here, try it, you won't be disappointed!

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience at Four Season Market in Sacramento, CA was upsetting…read moreand honestly concerning as a parent. I purchased clearance food items that I later realized -- without even opening them -- were clearly not fresh and not safe to eat. This is especially serious to me because I have children, and I rely on stores to sell food that is safe for families. What makes this worse is that I was told in the store that these products were "safe" and that employees buy them themselves. When I returned to request a refund, one associate initially said it would be accepted. However, the same employee who originally reassured me suddenly refused, became visibly upset, and told me "it's the law" that they cannot take the items back. That statement is misleading -- stores cannot avoid responsibility for selling food that is not safe for consumption. On top of that, during the same visit I was overcharged for other items compared to the posted prices, which added to my frustration and concern about how this business operates. This was not just poor customer service -- it raises serious concerns about food safety and consumer rights. I strongly recommend that others carefully inspect any items before purchasing here and double-check prices at checkout.

Hands down the best carnicería and market in the Sacramento/North Highlands area!…read moreI live in Roseville, about a 15-minute drive away, but it's absolutely worth the trip. I first visited after seeing a social media post recommending this place, and I'm so glad I did. It's always nice to try something new and walk away with such a great experience. This is a small, local meat and grocery market that truly delivers quality and service. Inside it looks like traditional Mexican markets with a variety of things to see and smell. I noticed they also serve food, but this time I came just to shop for Mexican grocery essentials--and they have a little bit of everything. The butcher was excellent: friendly, skilled, and professional. I really like that they don't sell pre-marinated meat; instead, they marinate it fresh on the spot upon request. The prices are fair for a small local business, and honestly, I'd rather spend my money here than at big chain stores that don't appreciate their customers the same way. When checking out, a kind gentleman (possibly the owner) greeted us warmly and even offered a free pint of salsa as a thank-you gift. That small gesture of kindness really stood out--it makes you want to return, not for the free stuff, but for the genuine appreciation and great service they provide. The salsa tasted amazing!! I highly recommend giving this place a try. On my next visit, I plan to check out their "pan" (Mexican pastries) and the restaurant side, which also looked amazing!
