Hands down the best carnicería and market in the Sacramento/North Highlands area! I live in Roseville, about a 15-minute drive away, but it's absolutely worth the trip. I first visited after seeing a social media post recommending this place, and I'm so glad I did. It's always nice to try something new and walk away with such a great experience. This is a small, local meat and grocery market that truly delivers quality and service. Inside it looks like traditional Mexican markets with a variety of things to see and smell. I noticed they also serve food, but this time I came just to shop for Mexican grocery essentials--and they have a little bit of everything. The butcher was excellent: friendly, skilled, and professional. I really like that they don't sell pre-marinated meat; instead, they marinate it fresh on the spot upon request. The prices are fair for a small local business, and honestly, I'd rather spend my money here than at big chain stores that don't appreciate their customers the same way. When checking out, a kind gentleman (possibly the owner) greeted us warmly and even offered a free pint of salsa as a thank-you gift. That small gesture of kindness really stood out--it makes you want to return, not for the free stuff, but for the genuine appreciation and great service they provide. The salsa tasted amazing!! From Sacramento to San francisco, this place has THE BEST prepared marinade on meat for BBQ. Although if you do not speak fluent Spanish, the treatment is different. They do have tortillas, lemons, drinks, and other items you can pick up to complete your shopping. * If you ask for extra marinade, it will be added as you requested, in the bag, and re- weighed with a new price tag. read more

I had a horrible first experience a this store. Most of my family comes here and they rave about the meat being good. Well they might be right about that but they have horrible service. The store itself is super small and they layout of the stores is not specious. When my family and I were done shopping heading to the register , we encountered on of the employees coming towards us, so we stopped to let her by. Another girl who seems to work there popped up in front of us ans started talking to this girl, literally gossiping in front of my family and I. I got upset because it was rude to just start talking in front of us when we are trying to check out and having 2 small kids. Anways I past right bu them because I don't have time to wait on their gossip. I did bring it to the attention of the light skinned colored eyed girl on the counter, and instead of apologizing she said "well she was trying to get ably with the trays". She totally defended her , ans I explained no I get that but it's rude to stop and start talking to someone else who also works there. I'm sure there is a better time , and especially a better place to discuss whatever is so important, not right in front of paying customers. When I asked the girl at the register what her name was she asked why and said she's just an employee. She didn't want to own up or acknowledge that her co workers are in the wrong, but just proceeded to argue and continued the bad unprofessional service. I won't be returning I don't care how good the meat is, service is #1 for me. There are plenty of Mexican makers, markets that are also far more organized and with better service than this one. It's sad because I just moved and I was excited to shop here. I hope the owner looks into this and helps his employees offer better service. Tuve una primera experiencia horrible en esta tienda. La mayor parte de mi familia viene aquí y les gusta la carne dicen que es muy buena. Bueno, puede que tengan razón en eso, pero tienen un servicio horrible. La tienda en sí es muy pequeña y el diseño de las tiendas no es espacioso. Cuando mi familia y yo terminamos de comprar y nos dirigimos a la caja registradora, nos encontramos con una de las empleadas que venían hacia nosotros con charolas, así que nos detuvimos para dejarla pasar. Otra chica que parece trabajar allí apareció frente a nosotros de un lado y comenzó a hablar con la otra. Literalmente chismorreando frente a mi familia y de mi. Me enojé porque fue de mala educación comenzar a hablar frente a nosotros cuando estamos tratando de pasar a good agar y pues tenemos 2 niños pequeños. De todos modos, pasé por un lado de ellas porque no tengo tiempo para esperar que terminen sus chismes. Le comenté a la chica de piel clara y ojos de color en el mostrador, y en lugar de disculparse dijo "bueno, estaba tratando de pasar con las bandejas". Ella la defendió totalmente, y le expliqué que yo lo entiendo, pero es de mala educación parar y empezar a hablar con otra persona que también trabaja allí en frente de los clientes. Estoy segura de que hay un mejor momento y, sobre todo, un mejor lugar para platicar sobre lo que es tan importante, no justo frente a los clientes que pagan. Cuando le pregunté a la chica de la caja registradora cómo se llamaba, ella preguntó que porque y dijo que solo era una empleada. No quería confesar ni reconocer que sus compañeros de trabajo estaban equivocados, sino que simplemente procedió a discutir y continuó con el mal servicio poco profesional. No volveré, no me importa lo buena que sea la carne, el servicio es el número uno para mí. Hay muchas cranicerias mexicanas y mercados mucho más organizados y con mejor servicio que este. Love this place! GREAT meat counter and a wide variety of grocery items. Also non food items. However, I wish they would carry another brand of bread items,as Bimbo is it. No wheat or sourdough. Plenty of flour and corn tortillas in wide variety of brands . A great little cafe which serves menudo to order ....the owners ... brothers are awesome,as are the employees whom are super nice. Nephew bought His mom and me his uncle lunch at the taquierria inside the meat market. I had three asada tacos, His mom had giant burrito. Nephew had pork tacos and a giant beef quesadilla. It was all excellent. The beef was seasoned perfectly and was street taco type served with lime and radish. Hot sauce for taco was perfect spicy hot. I could have eaten three more tacos. Sister couldn't finish burrito and nephew couldn't finish quesadilla, so they got boxes for later. This is not super inexpensive, but you get quality Mexican food here. Next time I will try something else and a couple tacos. Flour tortillas for quesadilla and burrito were both fried a little semi crispy and they wouldn't give me a bite. They sell food and meat for Mexicans here and also piñatas and candy from mexico. I have tried the butterflied skirt steak preperado here before and it is awesome. cooks in about 4 to five minutes on high heat bbq. About 9.00 bucks a pound but worth every cent. So don't overlook this little market and lunchroom, it is authentic Mexican in North Highlands Cali. The young lady behind the counter is very nice and will explain what you are buying.
