From a person born and raised in NY, Tower Bridge is to London as the Brooklyn Bridge is to NYC, and something that I feel should absolutely not be missed (as a tourist or local). After a long drive from Stansted Airport this was such an exciting icon for us to see on our way to our flat. We were lucky enough to be staying close by so we also walked over the bridge and enjoyed the views from the park. You can also visit the museum here which we skipped. We were fortunate to visit here on a rare sunny day and had purchased our tickets on line ahead of our visit. We walked right in, were greeted and scanned in ahead of the small line of customers. There is an option to use the elevator up or climb 100+ stairs to the walkways, we chose to use the stairs. The stairs aren't too bad but can be exhausting if you're not used to the workout. The walkways are fun and one has a glass bottom that no one wanted to walk on, including us. It was an easy walk around, some informative posters along the way with photos and helpful employees to answer any questions. The entrance fee also comes with a steam room ticket, we chose to skip this and head onto other sights. Overall Tower Bridge is a a must as this is iconic to London and watching the draw bridge raise for the boats is also a sight to see. The Uber Boat is about a 15 minute walk away and makes visiting the Tower Bridge very affordable and easier than a taxi. Definitely plan an hour here at most and enjoy! read more

Absolutely iconic. You can see it from miles away and instantly know where you are. The Tower Bridge allows pedestrians to cross over the Thames River and is located in the heart of the city's action. On the south side of the bridge, you'll find The Shard (go to the top - it's awesome!), Borough Market (a foodie's dream), Potters Field Park, the Globe Theater and more. On the north side of the bridge, you'll encounter the Tower of London Museum (where they keep the crown jewels and also the best tour I've ever gone on), the Sky Garden, Coppa Club (a cute cafe along the river that has mini igloos for diners), and more. Construction for this bridge started in 1886 and was finished in 1894. Don't confuse it with the London Bridge -- that one is a few blocks away! read more

A must visit when in London. I imagine there must be tons of tower bridges in London, but this one is magnificent and spans the Thames. We walked up to it , from the north banks of the Thames, while it was bathed in the late afternoon sun. It was a sight to behold. Makes you slow down your steps, and take in the sight. We stopped to take it all in.. the ferries cruising up and down the shimmering Thames and this magnificent structure. The area around the bridge is well developed to help us tourists enjoy our time here. There are restaurants, a Tesco express (7-11), pop up bar, street food and coffee shops. Come , sit a little, rest your legs and take in the breeze. We walked over to the South bank for a late dinner, and caught the sunset as we crossed back to the north bank. Stunning views with the London skyline in the backdrop. and of course, we waited till it was dark enough for the bridge to get lit. read more

Tower Bridge is one of my favorite London Landmark! Every time I come to London, I always stopped by to see it. Today, my friend encouraged me to go up and see the walkways at the top of the towers. Wow! They are so amazing and they have some cool views! We liked taking pictures on the see through floor and using the mirror on the ceiling. We almost didn't stop for this attraction. I'd brought it up to my husband since we skipped Tower Bridge on our first visit, but he seemed less than enthused when I mentioned it, so I didn't expect that we'd get to visit. He actually suggested paying the money and going in to explore. We had just walked the length of the bridge, and I figured we'd move on to another spot after that, but he surprised me by heading toward the front door. It could've been the fact that it was freezing with a biting wind that day, but whatever it was, I was happy to get a chance to see the innards. We had just purchased our tickets and were heading to the elevator when we were approached by an employee, who asked if we'd be interested in a free tour. Anybody who knows me knows that I love me a tour - guided, audio, free, you name it - so of course I jumped on that offer. My husband was a bit slower to accept (I think he thought we'd be with a large group of tourists, and he was probably a bit cynical about the "free" part), but went along with it for my sake. Turns out it was a private tour, with the sweetest girl you'd ever want to know. Our guide was named Anna, and she was so much fun to talk to. I asked a ton of questions and only stumped her on one. She perfectly balanced being our personal tour guide while giving us space to view exhibits at our own pace. If we ever had a question, she was nearby and ready to answer. She took us through the inside of the Tower, pointing out interesting bits of the building itself and of the city of London. She was funny and engaging and made it easy to absorb all the history we were exposed to, between her talks and the placards scattered throughout the Tower. It really is quite fascinating hearing about the history of the Tower and the surrounding areas. I loved seeing the old photos and getting the reference points of where things are in relation to where we were standing. Anna even got most of my nerdy-nerd-girl references those times when I had a freak-out moment based on something I'd read or watched. My favorite part of the tour was by far the glass bridges. My husband is not a fan of heights, so I know it wasn't easy for him to walk over the bridges, or to sit with me (or lie down with me) on one while taking pictures, so I give him props for his intestinal fortitude. It's quite spectacular seeing the city flow by right under your feet. This is a great place to visit and learn about London's history. And if you can get a tour, you should absolutely ask for Anna. read more

I am fascinated by Tower Bridge. Since the first time I visited London, something about this bridge captivated me and I can't shake the fact that it is my favorite thing there. The beauty of the colors from the gray, white, and blue while it stands in all its grandeur on the Thames River. If you get the chance to visit this unbelievable city full of history, make sure you check out the Tower Bridge. It is also located right next to the Tower of London. You can take great pictures with the bridge in the background by the Tower of London area, and the closer you walk towards the bridge you can have closer shots and also of you walking under it. They have an experience where you can pay and walk over the top of the bridge as well which is quite cool. This last time it was on my list of things to do, however, the weather had other plans for me. If you have better weather than me, I would highly suggest that if you aren't scared of heights. read more

One of the most photographed bridges. Because everyone thinks it's London Bridge. Technically everyone is right - it's in London and it's a bridge. :) and the actual London bridge is pretty boring looking and unimpressive. Whereas Tower Bridge is striking and majestic. It was raining the day I came here and freezing cold. I love glass floors. There's one inside Tower Bridge but admission is 9 pounds. Either I was too cheap to pay, too wet, or figured there would be too much water on the glass panels to get good photos. Whatever the reason I didn't go inside. So I'll have to go again the next time I visit. read more

Tower Bridge, close to the Tower of London, goes across the River Thames, albeit it can be confused with London Bridge, it is possibly even equally as iconic, connecting Tower Hamlets on the north, to Southwark on the south. It opened 124 years ago in the late 1800s and is Grade I listed. The bridge does get really busy, as people do tend to walk along it at all hours of the day whether its locals using the bridge for their daily commute, or tourists wanting to get a glimpse of London. At night especially the bridge is vibrant, it's big and bold and does stand out and it is rather cool, much so it's even been copied to an extent being the basis of a similar bridge in Suzhou, China. The exhibition area could have been a lot clearer and better overall, but still, this really does make the River Thames that little bit better, it is a beautiful building being truly Victorian, to the point I'd even say people confuse it with London Bridge because of how big, bold and victorian it is, it's possibly even more impressive than London Bridge to that extent. 4* - An impressive and iconic landmark one must see while in the capital of England. read more

Always thought this was London Bridge as it's always featured in films, but in actuality it's called the Tower Bridge. Yup, took me coming to London to figure that one out. This is probably the most beautiful bridge I've ever seen. No joke. It's not very long, and you can probably walk it back and forth within 10-15 minutes, you really want to take it in and enjoy it. I'm always surprised what us humans can accomplish at times, but this is one monument that I really enjoyed seeing. Well worth it. read more

Well now this is a cool bridge. Who ever designed this mixed housing with suspension with beauty. I only walked over it, but they do offer a tour so I might have to think about that the next time I come. There was a bridge guy who kept people moving on one end not allowing you to take a picture. Do not fret. You can get awesome shots in the middle and throughout or even on the other end. So don't face the wrath of bridge patrol, just keep walking and get your picture 30 seconds later with no fear and joy. read more

As part of our "London Pass" package, I was excited to check out the Tower Bridge, especially because this was one of the attractions that had fast track entry for London Pass holders, so we got to skip the long line and go straight to the front. You take a large elevator up to the top of the bridge and can walk across each side of the bridge. Both have glass floors, so you can look down on the traffic and water below you (a little freaky if you are scared of heights). One of the sides also has a mirror ceiling, making it easier to get the perfect selfie of you high above the traffic below. There are some great pictures and descriptive text throughout the bridge, giving you great background on how the bridge became what it is today. I highly recommend checking this out! read more

Who doesn't love a bridge that looks like a giant toy? It's one of my favorite landmarks in the city, and makes a great background for your selfies and Instagram pics, day or night; it looks far more impressive at night, however. It's just a short walk away from London Bridge Station, and surrounded by dozens of restaurants, cafes, and bars on both sides of the bank, so you won't be at a loss for places to eat after tuckering yourself out taking all those pictures. They're not cheap, though, so keep that in mind. On the north bank, you also have the Tower of London, a popular tourist attraction; which, depending on when you're visiting, may already be open to receiving tourists again, post-pandemic frenzy. On that side of the bank is also where the cluster of tall & impressive buildings is located, so if you time it right and visit during the evening hours, you'll have the perfect backdrop to gaze at while enjoying a rest on the other side of the river; and yes, it offers the perfect backdrop for selfies. The way I like to get the most out of my days when in this area is to start my walk from the London Eye near Waterloo Station on the opposite side of the bank around early to mid-afternoon, do some sight-seeing along the way, (trust me, there is a LOT to see), stop by the Tate Modern and maybe grab a drink at the Swan Pub next to the Globe Theatre, grab a cheap bite at Borough Market, window shop at the many stores along the way, grab a slightly-more-expensive bite at one of the swankier restaurants looking out at Tower Bridge, and rest on the steps of the bank while gazing out as the bridge and the city come alive with vibrant lights, giving it all a far different look and feel than one experiences in the daytime. Don't worry, as overwhelming as all that sounded, there's no way you can get lost, as long as you continue to follow the river and don't deviate too far from the bank. And should you decide not to stop anywhere along the way, the entire walk from one end to the other shouldn't take you longer than half an hour; 40 minutes, if you're a "stroller" like me. From there, it's a hop-skip-and-a-step to London Bridge Station, which can get you to just about anywhere you need to go. So, would I recommend visiting Tower Bridge on your trip to London? Yes. The Tower Bridge is just a short walk from the Tower of London. Since we got into London a little late and many of the museums and touristy things close around 4 or 5 we hurriedly made our way over to the Tower Bridge. The bridge is well maintained and brilliantly painted in a bright blue color and gold on the outside. It's actually really nicely decorated. The bridge is a working bridge so hundreds or even thousands of cars pass over it every day and sometimes the bridge goes up to let boats pass. We used the London pass to get in and skipped the line and take the elevator up to the main floor. There are informational signs and interactive media all over the place and staff available for commentary. In both towers there are sections cut in the floor made of glass where you can gaze down at the cars below or whatever else may be passing by. Everyone seemed to want to lay down on the floor and take a photo. It wasn't overly crowded at all anyway in either of the towers which helped us to enjoy the experience more. We were able to get almost a full panoramic view of downtown London and all the key sites. I wasn't overly impressed though by the whole experience. Granted it's a big touristy thing as well as historical, but I just didn't have my socks knocked off. Someone noted to get the London pass. Really make your choice wisely with the London Pass because we got the 3 day pass with the Oystercard and I will say the Oystercard (transportation card for the London transportation system) was one of the best parts. A lot of the museums have odd hours or short hours or aren't open on certain days or are far away from downtown where you have to take a train which takes time out of the day. So unless you plan your day just right, you might not be able to get to more than 5-8 places in a day. London Pass has hundreds of locations but you really probably won't make it to at least half of them and the pass itself is somewhat expensive. Maybe pick the places that you want to see and see how much financially it costs to go to those sites. Plus, most of the art & history museums are free in London. read more

I, like all Americans mistook this bridge for London Bridge. Although I never got to see the London Bridge, I was quite happy to imagine this as its more famous counterpart. Since I saw it at night, its charm was greater because of being lit up. The place is very photo-friendly so all you photo-hogs will love it! The walk along the bridge is very scenic and pleasant, we were also blessed with good weather which is rare in London, I hear. Alot of tourists, runners, lovers strolling past you cuddling and taking pictures. There are restaurants and small bakeries/cafes where you can rest and grub at. Definitely a must see if you are visiting London. P.s: Its also very close to the Borough market area which is London's biggest food market. read more

Tower Bridge =/= London Bridge London Bridge isn't much. Tower Bridge is the largest landmark bridge in London. It's right between City Hall and Tower of London. The sight is a must on your bucket list. The view is spectacular. It's better from afar than actually on it. Maybe because there were construction going . It's also worth seeing at night. Great piece of design and architecture. I'm not sure if it's worth the £10 to visit the engine room and exhibition. Not many people were doing the tour. read more

The most beautiful bridge in London is a site in the day time and right next to the Tower of London. The Shard is also close by along with bars, pubs and restaurants on either end of the bridge. Remember, this is NOT London bridge. :) In the evening time though, Tower Bridge is lit up with lights and is absolutely gorgeous! Another majestic, beautiful and representative structure of London and one of the more iconic ones for sure! There are few bridges in the world that are more iconic and picturesque than Tower Bridge. What's great is that leading up to the bridge there are so many great spots along the Thames to take photos of it so don't forget to not only get shots when you're close to or on the bridge, but also take advantage of those far away shots on the north and south sides of it. On the day we walked the bridge, we decided to walk from Millennium Bridge to Tower Bridge and it presented us with many photos opportunities as we got closer and closer. In addition, the Shard and Tower of London are not too far off, so there is plenty to see around the bridge too. Also, do expect plenty of tourist foot traffic along the way as this is one of the more popular attractions to see in London so don't be surprised at how many people are walking along the Thames of both sides of the bridge. read more

Let's move to Europe and try to fix my flashbacks about the Tower Bridge. I have been couple times in London and weather was soooo terrible! Very rainy. But I found only one sunny day to have a long walk around city center. The tower bridge is very significant place: huge history, beautiful and at the same time massive construction and nice view around. You can choose the best way for you how to explore this spot: walk around, bike trip, bus tour, helicopter flight, boat tour, etc. I preferred just walk around and eat some ice cream :). The bridge is open every day from 10 am to 5-30 pm. Don't forget to check a bridge lift time and make a fantastic video of it. read more

Although the Tower Bridge is stunning to look at from the outside, you should definitely do the experience. To get to the top, you can either wait for the elevator or take the stairs. I decided to take the stairs to get a little workout in lol It was only about a couple minute walk up but I wouldn't recommend it if you get tired fast When you get to the top, you can sit down and watch a video that describes the designing and building of the Tower Bridge. Next, you start the walk across. The walk has signs and pictures of the history of the bridge and how it stands today. The coolest part, besides the view of the city, is the glass floor. You can see straight down which was cool. Some people were scared but trust me, it's completely safe. When you finish the bridge, head to the railings by the road which is a nice picture spot to take of you and the bridge. read more

It's surely a must-do and an impressive sight every time, never gets old. We didn't walk on it or took a closer look this year, just enjoyed the sight of it and took some photos. Another must see while in London. Actually it is one of those things that you can't avoid but seeing while in London. My first night in the city I decided to take a walk around the area near my hotel and I ended up here. Tower Bridge at night definitely has a different vibe than during the busy rush of the day. Almost a serenity to it when most of the people are turning in for the night. During the day, however, is a different story. This bridge is nonstop busy. Another London Pass jump the line site which gets you to the top much faster. Once at the top they ask that you sit and watch a short video about the history of the bridge itself. After the video it is like a do as you please tour. From the room that you watched the video in you make your way across a walkway to the other tower. Along the way you are free to take in the skyline of London from all angles. But, and I am sure lots of people say this, look down. If not, you will trip over people. Part of the walkway is glass. Having a glass walkway is a fun touch, but also a bit of a hazard. In our selfie cultured world loads of people will lay on the walkway and take a selfie of themselves while making it look like they are suspended in air over the bridge and water. Me, no, I didn't take one. I was one of those fools that videoed myself walking over the glass walkway. Another thing to note about these walkways, if you expect to cross while the bridge is up, forget it, you can't, there will be people surrounding the glass portion and you will have to wait. Let it be noted that there are two walkways adjoining the two towers, but for some reason when I was there, you could only use the one to cross between towers. But also note, that if you are smart, that does not mean the other walkway is out of service, just closed on the one side. Use your noggin, make your way to the other side and come down the other walkway. Less people, but photo possibilities. Once to the other side make your way downward while taking in the history of the bridge some more. Once outside follow the arrows to the engine rooms that work the bridge. You can see how the bridge use to work back in the time of manual labor and visit the gift shop. Great experience and one, if you are keeping track of time, that doesn't take too long to traverse. read more
