Thin NY style pizza at this landmark pizzeria in Key Largo. Had takeout pizza from here in the past and decided to give the restaurant a chance for a dine-in experience. Traditional Italian theme inside and a casual outside patio with picnic table seating. At the far side of the dining room, there were large coolers, which I think was a self-serve concept of craft beer and soda, but not sure. The server seemed pleasant and eager to provide us with a good meal. We ordered a pepperoni & onion pizza with a large chicken caesar salad. The salad was ready within five minutes and had plump chunks of chicken and a massive portion of lettuce and croutons which was appreciated. The pizza came out ten minutes later and looked fantastic. Lightly charred crust and mid-spiced pepperoni made me smile with each bite. The long lived pizzeria had decent customer reviews on Yelp and I can concur. The bathroom was an ultra tiny boring relic and in need of a facelift and an overflowing garbage can. read more

We Had the medium cheese pizza. The crust is nice and thin but some slices were too crisp and cracker-like while others bent easily while the folded tip drooped. I'm not sure if the issue is inconsistent thickness or inconsistent oven temperature. The gluten development was ok. The sauce was ok though I would prefer it more zesty/acidic. The server was rude to my mother for no reason. She ordered a gyro and she corrected her for her pronunciation. Instead of letting her know they didn't serve fries she was condescending and told her if she saw fries on the menu she'd give them to her for free. I thought she was joking at first then all our food was served except for my mother's. She waited several minutes before checking on it to say " is something missing ?" With my mother clearly sitting there with NO food in-front of her. She " checked with the kitchen " and told us it's on the grill as we watched them start it after she talked to them. The gyro was served after everyone was done with all their meals and extremely over cooked. I felt as if she intentionally didn't put my mother's food in or it's a rare coincidence it happened to the person she belittled on the menu items and pronunciation. At the end she handed the bill to my mother (which I thought was also a weird gesture, mind you her husband was there too) , not thanking us for coming in or anything of regular nature to a customer. AFTER my mother gave her the card and she ran it she came back and said she took the garlic knots off since she had to wait for her food and walked away. Do not apologize for anything. I'm actually mad at myself for not sticking up for my mother and saying something myself because it was entirely unprofessional and embarrassing for my mother. We won't be returning on our remaining week here, we will not recommend neither. The food was mid at most except the garlic knots they were actually phenomenal. Visiting in town with the grandkids and of course they love pizza. So we head over to Tower of Pizza. I can't eat tomatoes due to my allergies but I am sure I could find something. That something was salad because the waitress said the pasta dish I wanted was going to take a long time to cook. She continued to tell us everything else we ordered was pre-made. My grandson couldn't even order a Stromboli without the green peppers because it's pre-made. We found tiny pieces of tin foil in his food. It needed fresh herbs and spices. My grand daughter liked her cheese pizza but it has no fresh herbs or spices. We also ordered the garlic nots which were small and most of them were really good. Lots of garlic. This spot is your typical mom & pop pizza shop. Good pizza at a decent price. A great place to stop when you're in the upper keys to get a bite to eat. Pizza was thin and juicy just like I like it. Wonderful place to grab a pie! We were staying about a block away at a Marriott property. So convenient everyone loved the cheese with Alfredo sauce! I think they checked all the boxes as far as quality, customer service, and the 5 stars for the speed of the food. I had eaten here many years ago and decided to revisit on a date night. The service was excellent, food portions were substantial, ambience was ok. We had the garlic knots for an appetizer and an average side for starters, lettuce, a 1/2 slice of tomato, etc. I thought that was chintzy, a half (thin) slice, c'mon. The garlic knots were crispy and delicious, but very small. I ordered the baked ziti in meat sauce with a side of sausage, 2 pieces. The ziti was topped with a very large amount of mozzarella, but the pasta was way overcooked. The meat sauce was like chopped meatloaf/meatball pieces, mostly bread, little hamburg. The sauce was extremely salty. My girlfriend ordered the Chicken Parmesan. It had a very large portion of spaghetti, generously topped with mozzarella. The chicken was a joke. Rather than serving a chicken breast, they used about 5 pieces of chicken tenders that had the texture of Chicken McNuggets. Again, the dish was overloaded with salt. We stopped here for dinner and it had a nice atmosphere and very friendly staff! There's an outdoor seating in front of the restaurant! There were four of us and each couple order a small pizza (cause we couldn't agreed on the toppings) it was plenty with leftovers too! I also had the Greek salad for one (it was large enough for two to share) The first pizza was with sausage and half mushrooms, the other pizza was half pepperoni and half veggies! This location has been around since 1975, and I don't believe they have changed any of the exterior and interior since then. It gives it a very homie feel. They have long tables outside and a two people seater tables inside. The service was quick, I just didn't like that the lady who assisted us seemed annoyed and always rushed. She would constantly repeat that they were crazy busy, but I still don't believe there was any need for her hostility. The pizza was delicious! Can't complain at all!!!! I have been in or around the Keys since the mid-to-late 80's, graduated high school down here, etc. and yet until now, I have never actually been to Tower of Pizza. I have eaten the pizza a couple of times via delivery, but never myself been to the storefront nor directly ordered pizza... it was always at a friend's house or something like that. Let's face it, the place is iconic for those that have lived in the Keys for a while... It stands out, is one of the oldest (if not THE oldest) pizza places in the Keys, and they do a decent job with the food. My mother and I walked in there on a Thursday evening, having sort of tooled around the island a little bit looking for something to eat that we felt would be satisfying... We even stopped at one or two places to look inside and turned around and walked out again, because it just didn't feel "right" to us. Finally we pulled into Tower of Pizza, and walking in we knew we were good to go, just from the atmosphere. We were directed over to a table looking out through the window, so that was a good thing. Water was brought out as we went over the menu and figured out what we would like. Eventually we decided on a large pizza with some modifications to suit our tastes (as far as we are concerned jalapenos should go on every pizza!) The pizza came out, and it was a good pizza. A little soggy in the middle, so a lesson was learned with their pizza not to order too many ingredients on a pie, or else the center doesn't quite get cooked through, but still a good pizza. Of course it was too much for the two of us, so half of it went home in a box, but that was good too. Cold pizza (or re-heated in my mom's case) is still good pizza! For a late night "I need food" place in the Keys, Tower of Pizza is definitely worth the stop. read more
