What can I say?? Everything was above 5 stars. We went in the first time after our visit to John Pennekamp as it is across the street. Javier's service was excellent. We had Hog Fish plate and Shrimp Rosada. Amazing! And the kids had a variety of items and loved them all. Then we returned on Saturday (Jennifer was our amazing sever) on our way home with our daughter and son in law who had another amazing meal. Hands down the best meals we ate in the Keys both times. This time we ate Hog Fish plate, Hog Fish Sandwich, Grouper sandwich and Coconut Shrimp. Can't wait to go back! On your way in or out of the Keys you have to stop! read more

They prepared our fish three different ways, so everyone got to try something different, and every version was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. This is one of our favorite places to eat down here and come back every time. I would give it a 4.5. Menu is very extensive so there is something for everyone. Lobster is their speciality but tonight we both had lobster and had to use a knife to really saw through the meat. It was quite tough. Still very flavorful. The shrimp and scallops with the meal were delish and cooked perfectly though. To pay that much, it was just a little disappointing. Service was good. The banana bread to start is soo good! Finally decided to have an early dinner at one of the iconic restaurants in the upper keys. The backyard is large with plenty of fans to keep you comfortable as you dine. Tables are spaced well and there are plenty of island decorations. The food is island inspired with many lobster and seafood selections. Just like other local restaurants, they cook your catch. There are plenty of selections for not seafood eaters. We went earlier and for a bit had the backyard for ourselves so the service was fine. They have Apple Pay and sell gift certificates. read more

Started our experience with spicy grilled octopus which was tender with a delicious sweet and spicy glaze. We had the whole fried hog fish, kids shrimp entree and fried coconut yellow fish sandwich. The hogfish was amazing, takes a bit of work to avoid bones. The coconut yellowfish sandwich drew my attention with lingonberry jam, and almond slivers on a Kaiser roll. We were out here visiting a friend, we're from Southern California. This was in the middle of our week being out there. So had been to a few other places. Our friend said this was a popular spot , so we were looking forward to it especially since other places we've gone to in the keys have been alright leading up to this. Sat outside of course and did enjoy the atmosphere the place had, laid back and still a good amount of people where it didn't feel chaotic, but still enjoyable to be dining around other people. But just like most places we've been to before in the Keys, that our friend has been taking us to. The food here was alright. Got the lobster Mac and cheese , and while the presentation was fun to look at. The taste felt a bit underwhelming. Of course there being 4 adults, and our baby. We tried each other's food, and nothing really stood out at least for myself, as to make much about. Guess the experience and being there with friends and family was more enjoyable than the food. Not that the food was bad, just expected a little more out of it. Great meal! Dinner at the Lazy Lobster was the best meal of our trip! My husband, son and I all ordered lobster, but 3 variations and all were delicious! The bread they brought out was outstanding! My husband had a margarita with a Grand Marnier floater that he said was great! Our waitress was very attentive and explained the subtle differences in the sauces for the dishes I was looking at selecting. Extremely helpful and friendly, I think her name was Elise (from Belize)! We were seated on the patio, which was really nicely done to create a beautiful, but relaxed atmosphere. I'm so glad we were on the patio, because we enjoyed being briefly visited by Stormy, a very intelligent cat, who has made herself a regular there! She's a great addition and made us feel like regulars! We stopped by the next morning on our way out of town to leave my leftovers for her at their door. My favorite appetizer is the Lazy Conch.. this is a must have! If you like lobster, you'll love it here.. if you're not a lobster fan, there are still plenty of options to make you love it here. From the soups, to the apps, mains, and dessert (say YES to the key lime pie here!), everything is delicious. The server can also help you customize or go off menu if needed - they're great with accommodating dietary needs (like gluten free) and/or preferences. Kids meals? On a recent visit to Key Largo our group of seven stopped here for lunch our first day. We all had something different, I had the fish sandwich, and We were all very happy with our meal. We Because we were so happy with our lunch we went back for dinner a couple of days later. The service was very good, our server recognized us from our lunch visit. I had the Whole Fried Yellow Tail Snapper and baked potato. The fish was excellent, nicely fried and a nice size. I also had an Old Fashioned and it was excellent as well. We were hunting down a great Lobster Roll as we were visiting the Key Largo area. The Lazy Lobster hit absolutely every point we were looking for! This was out first time in Key Largo and this was our best find yet! The Lazy Lobster is a locally owned restaurant and when you walk in you feel like family! The staff were all super friendly and even took time to offer recommendations for places to see while we were in town. They had a great tiki bar with outside searing but since it was 90 and we are from Pennsylvania we sat inside so we did not melt:) The food is AMAZING!! My husband and I both had the Chef's Choice "Seafood Louie Louie" which had lobster tail, shrimp, scallops, clams, muscles, and the catch of the day in a garlic cream sauce over pasta!! I have never had a seafood dish this good!!! The red sangria was the perfect drink for our dinner. Next time we will save room for desert! If you are in Key Largo... Following her recommendation, we started with the Jalapeño Lobster Bites. Unfortunately, they were overcooked and rubbery, so that dish was a miss. But things quickly turned around with the Oysters Moscow--fresh oysters topped with horseradish cream sauce and red and black caviar. They were large, juicy, and incredibly fresh, with the horseradish cream adding a rich, fragrant kick. A definite standout. For our main course, we went with the grilled octopus, also recommended by our waitress--and it was excellent. The octopus was perfectly cooked and served in a generous portion. Our server Javier was amazing. He was kind and fast and gave great recommendations. We shared the jalapeño lobster poppers, escargot and lobster mac 'n cheese. The escargot was a unique presentation in a small raised dish with a blanket of cheese covering it. The mac 'n cheese was served over a full butterflied lobster. FIVE STARS!!!!! Definitely a five star experience in Key Largo. We were Greeted And seated Warmly, and quickly by the host staff. We got to choose our seating and Tanner. Our server was extremely kind. Polite. Helpful, and efficient. The food was utterly delicious. We had the lobster Palm Springs that had artichokes, hearts of palm, shrimp, and scallops in a garlic butter, wine sauce. The conch fritters were delicious as were the calamari appetizer. After so many years coming to the Keys, this was our first visit to The Lazy Lobster and I can't believe we waited this long! As soon as we sat down, they welcomed us with a delicious warm banana bread. We came in as a family of 6, and our waiter, Javier, was incredible. Patient, attentive, and spot-on with his recommendations. He even split our entrée for us since it was shareable, which made dining so easy. For starters, we ordered the Kaboom Shrimp, about five generously sized shrimp with a touch of coleslaw. Absolutely delicious. The homemade mozzarella sticks with marinara were some of the best we've ever had perfectly cheesy and not greasy at all. For mains, the Lobster Matecumbe was shared between two. Such a perfect shareable plate served over linguini. The lobster was tender and perfectly cooked. The tomato-caper sauce was so flavorful and they even brought us extra sauce on the side. The sauce would also be perfect to add to a toasty baguette. We also tried the Lobster Thermidor, rich and creamy, and the sauce paired perfectly with white rice. Beyond the food, every staff member we interacted with was friendly and clearly worked well as a team. Toward the end, the manager stopped by to ask how everything was which shows they genuinely care. If you're in the Keys, don't wait years like we did , go now. You won't regret it! We wanted to like this place after hearing about it from the locals. It was our last night in the Keys and this place kinda was just "mehh" not bad but not good either. The pros: the ambience was the best part of our night. The stuffed shrimp was the best plate from our table. We ordered 2 dozen raw to start the meal, sadly they were not flavorful or shucked cleanly-This was almost the end of our dinner at that point. Our waitress, while friendly, didn't know her menu, never brought water, or even ask about refills of our drinks. When we asked what kind of oysters did they have, she said "just regular oysters" and didn't know anything about type.
