I think their selection is " so so" in terms of what they can give you. They are just a small neighborhood store. Liquor stores have a 20 to 30 per cent markup on products which is how they have stayed in business so long while customers either buy their products or choose to go purchase beer some place else. The people there are not the friendliest people on earth. I suspect this is a family business trying to make a decent living. I also assume ( perhaps I am wrong) some underlying issues of the girl working there. I gave you a dollar. I gave you 75 cents. Why did you just rub my three quarters together and say " Now it is enough" when the dollar bill was placed on the counter? I could not hand you the dollar because you kept " touching and rubbing ( not trying to be vulgar) the three quarters " waiting" for my dollar which was right there in front of you! My arms are not ten feet long. WTF were you waiting for honey? An invitation to take the Washington from me? I had enough and yes I have paid with change and credit alike but who on earth even cares of petty things like this? I left the place forever scratching my head after leaving the store wondering what happened. I did not wish to say this. I bet the person writing this, as well as the one reading this " wants to be someplace else at this time." Am I right? The girl who works there works very hard! It is hard work serving the public! However, I suspect she wants to be away from her family or the store itself or both. She is a nice lady but at times she is a bit intense with myself and others. If they want a new customers then they will advertise wine tastes or work with the other stores to have wine tastings and burritos in the summer since there are no benches or any place to really hold such a thing, but, it just feels very " barren" when I go in there as its a small store with so much stuff on that counter. I did not see the dusty wine bottles. I did not buy wine. Therefore, I cannot ascertain one way or another the condition of their wine products but they do have quite a bit of wine for a small store that sits because Elgin simply is not the north shore. The guys up front saw me looking through the craft brews and launched into telling me all about some different breweries and making recommendations. I told them about a couple of beers I have been specifically hunting for & they gave me their opinions on them, plus told me about beers with similar tastes that they thought were better. She offered a selection of cheese and charcuterie to BYO cheese board. This is nice if you want to come in and cork a bottle or want to snack while you attend a tasting. We recently had a private birthday party here for my mom and sister. They allowed us to bring in our own food, and they did a wine tasting experience for each guest. We started with a nice and light rose and worked our way up to a bold cab. Every guest got to go at their own pace, and she was patient enough to re-explain each tasting the different guests wanted. Everyone raved about it! Don't hesitate to stop by this shop and stay a while. They are always eager to help you try something new!

It's not enormous, and it's sort of spread out over about six different shelves in the back, but I appreciate that they're going for a bit smaller and less known breweries here. Two big things to note: Most of their smaller bottles are already separated into eaches, so you can mix and match to your heart's content. They are priced separately as well, but if you create your own six-pack, you get 15% off the total. AND another 50c off if you bring your own cardboard carrier in. The other thing worth noting: At least on the bombers we were looking at, many of the prices were either the same or lower than that Big Box Liquor Store With Two Locations Nearby. So after our visit here, I happily walked out with a bottle of limited release Backwoods Monster from Big Muddy Brewing, for $2 less than it was at the BBLSWTLN.
