Homemade pies. If you can't find something, that's on you!
    Karen B.

I LOVE local diners, especially Mom & Pop places and this was no exception, except that it was grandma, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter (Kendall is 3). I ordered the BBQ cheese burger and it came with 2 onion rings on it and homemade sourdough bread! That bread is awesome! I love sourdough bread and make my own, but her's was off the charts. Fries are frozen, but still excellent and the BBQ sauce was too. My son (age 14) ate two servings of the homemade mac & cheese. He LOVES mac & cheese and tried to eat his little sister's as well, but she wasn't having any of sharing. My husband had the patty melt on a marbled rye and he ate it all as well. We all enjoyed ice cream cones that rival DQ and came with our meals. Don't even get me started on the pie! If you can't find something, that's on you because they most definitely have something for everyone. We were driving through - not locals. Two young ladies at a nearby gas station said we couldn't go wrong and they knew what they were talking about. Haley (our server) and her daughter, Kendall (age 3) are fantastic. We couldn't have asked for better service and we will definitely be back when we are driving through town in the future! P.S. Yes, I read the reviews talking about the need for remodeling, but we were there for food, so it didn't bother us. Saw no signs of dirt or bugs, but it is not a new building. Was clean and great food.

Monday Night Prime Rib Sandwich special $11.99
    Jeff B.

Stopped in Monday night for the prime rib sandwich special. For $11.99, you really can't beat it. I had french fries as the side. The waitress also brought me some horseradish, which I feel is a must with prime rib. As you can see from the picture, it's quite a bit of food and I was hungry after a day of prairie chicken hunting.

Such a nice old fashioned style small town diner where it seemed that the waitress knew almost every customer and they knew her.

Colby, Kansas, March 2026…read more The small restaurant has 10 tables. It It sits on the corner of an antique strip mall. Pretty basic inside the restaurant. The salad bar is located right next to the one and only bathroom. The menu has many sandwiches to choose from. It has fewer entree selections. The waitress was new the night we went. She was nice and extremely helpful. She was an older lady, and I only say that for clarification of the other waitress who had long black hair with ponytail. Tried to get her attention a few times, and even though the restaurant is extremely small, she passed by as if though she did not see us. We ordered the chicken fried steak and the fried chicken. Both came with an ice cream size scoop of mashed potatoes and corn. The potatoes and chicken were covered in a white gravy. The chicken was hot and tender. The mashed potatoes were flavorless as was the gravy. The meals are also accompanied with a roll. Butter is in individual packets on the table. The chicken fried steak was thick and had little breading. It would have been better if it was a thinner pounded steak with more breading as that was more traditional to my liking. When they bring your check, it comes with a warm chocolate chip cookie. Cute idea! The ambience was odd and not welcoming. The location was rather depressing. The food was OK. I would give this place overall 3.5 stars.

Visually, it's a great spot--beautiful inside and out, an amazing patio, lots of TVs, and an impressive bar with 48 beers on tap plus beer flights. Unfortunately, during our visit, both the food and service fell short. We started with the pork belly bites. They were okay, but the texture wasn't what we're used to--we typically prefer them cooked a bit more. We also ordered the crab cakes, which came as three large pieces on a bed of lettuce (basically a big house salad). After a few bites, we realized they were ice cold. We let the bartender know and they were sent back, but they came out ice cold again. To their credit, they removed the item from our bill, which we appreciated. We then ordered a burger. The patty was very thick and had potential, but the fries were ice cold. Service slowed at this point--it took a long time to get ketchup or any follow-up. We noticed staff eating in a booth behind us while two employees behind the bar appeared busy, which was disappointing. The beer selection is excellent, but my Dirty Shirley tasted off. I switched to a Tito's and Sprite, but it still didn't taste right--likely flat soda that hadn't been changed. Overall, the patio and beer selection are highlights, but the execution on food and service missed the mark on this visit. Based on this experience, I'd give it 2 stars. Glad I didn't order the steak, as I think I would have been disappointed. -- Foodie99

We didn't come because of bathroom ratings, but those reviewers that mentioned the poor bathrooms understated conditions: There was not toilet paper or paper towels. Not good. I had the prime rib sandwich with tater tots. As I said, the tater tots were good. But the prime rib sandwich was much too spicy for my tastes. I ate it anyway because I was hungry. It did have Sriracha sauce so I probably should've avoided it. I love prime rib, but this was just OK. Not a super generous portion, and not something I would order again. My sister had the shrimp taco special and did like them. Shrimp were fried. My dad had a small burger and tater tots and did enjoy it. If you're in Oakley passing through as we were, I would skip this place and go with Sonic for food. Of course the owners / proprietors can't control this, but there was a loud and profane group of 4 young men at the bar (at 1:30 PM, we were there for lunch) who used the F word every third word. That situation normal for many bars. I'm sure. I'm just saying this isn't a place I would bring small children. Two of five stars because of the friendly service.
