This is a Super good small town spot. We've been here a couple times and have been very pleased each time. It's a real small town feeling. The OWNER, Robert, treats you very well. Ambiance: Home town old school feeling Parking: A lot on the side of the building. Plenty parking. Food: Cooked to order and so delicious. Today we got breakfast Togo. It was still hot and fresh when we got home. I asked Robert if the biscuits were good and he said, "yes," He was right. He offered coffee, as well. When I visit my family in Centerville this is always the place I navigate to first. It's a place from simpler times, perhaps, but that's not a bad thing in this day and age. The young ladies who serve you are polite, the food is on your table as that first cup of coffee is halfway gone. And the eggs are perfect... the yolks blending into the hash-browns... oh-so-nice. In all honesty, I have not tried too many items on their menu, but the basics are done right. And those square biscuits are so soft and tender. They might be a bit different than others I've had (Duluth Rexall Grill, Duluth, GA are the best... anywhere..) but biscuits are like snowflakes. They are all different yet can all be perfect in their own way. Like the folks who eat at the Town Cafe I suppose. read more

My son and I spent weekend nearby and wanted some breakfast. We found this place by chance and it was great! Pancakes the size of hubcaps, blueberries were plentiful. A local establishment where folks know one another. Great find and we will be back again when in the area. read more

I live in Houston but I come down here often and me and my cousins go there to eat it's a great place the gentleman who serves us is always very very friendly food is hot and good and it's just a great atmosphere it reminds me of something out of my favorite TV show The Andy Griffith show and I mean that in a good way because it's a small town and everyone knows each other but for outsiders like myself they still make me feel right at home and I will eat there every time I come down here to see my cousins and my mom.. keep up the great work read more

We went to one place but it was closed so we turned around to get back on the main road and happened on this place. I am so happy we did. We were too late for breakfast but lunch was fine. I ordered the patty melt with American cheese and my husband ordered the grilled cheese. We both ordered onion rings. The owner/chef buys the biggest onions and hand batters them. They were amazing! The beef patty in my sandwich was hand formed and perfectly cooked. Our server, Alene, is super friendly and very attentive. Next time we're in Texas I'm coming back for more! read more

Centerville is exactly two hours between Dallas and where we live in Houston. It's an ideal halfway spot for toddler parents to grab a meal, gas up the car, change the kiddos, or whatever. Town Cafe is the best place to stop! The food is awesome and fresh. The onion rings are among the best I've ever had. They have a great daily special and then prices are low. I tell everyone traveling on 45 to stop in Centerville at Town Cafe and grab a bite. They're super nice people and open every day from 7-8, perfect for travelers. read more

Food wasn't that great. Probably won't go back. Fried chicken tenders were tough, mashed potatoes tasted instant and had no flavor and what I think was peach cobbler was closer to bread pudding with some pieces of peach in it. read more

Well. Finally when passing thru Centerville, TX I was here when this place was open. LOL. I love stopping at these local places that are away from the Big Touristy Places on the highway. Biscuits n Sausage Gravy was good. Small place but friendly folks here. Will definitely be stopping back in if time allows on the next trip. read more

Hands-down the best place to eat in Centerville! We've been here for breakfast and lunch several times, and have never been disappointed. The pancakes are excellent, and the breakfast hash is really satisfying. If you're there for lunch, the patty-melt and onion rings are the way to go. Hand-battered, sweet onions make all the difference. The folks there are always nice, and it's a good value to boot. read more

We've been enjoying the food since the smoking policy changed, however the Sunday buffet was sad today. The fried chicken breast was decent, but the sides were disappointing: French fries, pinto beans, corn and two kinds of gravy. Oh, and the worst excuse for dumplings that I have ever seen. The food used to be really good here but they always want to close and go home and run everybody off. They act like it's a big inconvenience when customers walk in the door. The bitch in the kitchen is always yelling we are closed don't answer the phone. If you catch them and they want to work try the hamburger steak it used to be pretty good. I had the club sandwiche which was good but hard to screw one up. Side order of grits was instant and bland. Husband has eggs over easy, hash browns, fried pork chop and bisque. He said it was good nothing special. Places is clean but main dinning area is for SMOKERS. The atmosphere is depressing and stagnant. You can tell that no one enjoys working here. The locals don't have much of a choice and keep coming back. For me it's a one-and-done. I wish them the best and pray the employees can find some since of joy in this depressing work environment. read more

My family and I stopped in on our way south for vacation on 6/10/16 ~9AM.We would have gone to a nicer looking restaurant off the road but they looked closed. We ordered basic breakfast and opted to sit in the front -Smoking- dining hall. My kids noticed a waterbug next to our table, totally gross. Waitress was not friendly but brought what we needed. We ate and left. Food-grits were bland, sausage patty was cold. Pancakes were warm enough. Never again. If you're on the road around here just keep going till you hit a Bucee's or McDonalds or something. You know, someplace with standards. read more

Stopped in at about 1:00 on a Wednesday. The buffet was dried up and gross looking, so maybe getting there before noon would solve that problem. By the time we arrived, one of the two meat offerings was out - they still had sausage and sauerkraut, but were out of meatloaf. Because of the state of the buffet, we ordered off the menu - I got the chicken fried steak and my husband got the two grilled pork chops. The sign says the chicken fried steak is their specialty. I could tell it was hand breaded, but that's all I can say for it. It was in serious need of seasoning. The waitress - who seemed stressed but was not rude - warned him that the pork chops were small and boneless. She wasn't lying! But he found them to be bland as well. Both entrees came with choice of potato, Texas toast, and a trip to the salad bar for just under $10. The salad bar was paltry...not because of the time of day...they just don't offer much. I passed, but my husband had seconds on the English pea salad...must've been ok! As for decor...it's a dive frequented by locals and we're pretty tolerant of sagging ceiling tiles and shabby decor if the food is great. What killed it...one of those locals lit up a cigarette. I had forgotten what second hand smoke tastes like! We left immediately and probably won't be back. Downtown Centerville seems to be struggling...it could use a cute diner. This ain't it! read more
