Appointment was an hour and a half late. Understand emergencies happen, but have the decency to tell the patient if this is the case. And staff shouldn't lie and say they are on time if it's already 30 minutes late. Nurse was rude when this was pointed out. Front office checked me in as wrong patient, confirmed I was checked in correctly still have not received refund for incorrect copay (required to pay 2x). Doc was fine, not particularly thorough but not short either. I guess if you have a major injury they would be fine otherwise I'd recommend another practice. read more

I was very disappointed with how this office operates. It felt like the team did not truly care about their patients. We came in for a broken ankle, but it was treated as if it were not a serious issue. An MRI was necessary for the next step in treatment, yet the request was not submitted to the insurance in a timely manner. We had to repeatedly follow up and push the office just to get the request sent. In the meantime, we were left waiting in pain without proper support or protection while waiting for the MRI to be scheduled and completed. Even after the MRI was completed and the report was sent to the doctor's office the next day, no one contacted us to schedule a follow-up appointment or begin treatment. Isn't the office supposed to monitor this and follow up with patients to move treatment forward? Overall, this was a very frustrating and upsetting experience. read more

If you want to meet a doctor who cares more about money than treating patients, try this place. I visited Dr. Kartalian in June to seek help for my ankle pain. After a simple consultation and X-ray, I was diagnosed with the need for an ankle brace and physical therapy. Due to my busy schedule, I purchased the ankle brace first and wore it for a few days, but my ankle hurt even more than before, and I developed a large blister near my inner ankle bone. After wearing it twice, I had to stop using it. When I called the office to request a return, I was told that returns were not possible for used products. I accepted this and didn't argue further. However, I felt extremely unfair when I received the bill. An ankle brace that can be bought on Amazon for $33 was billed at $300, and despite paying an $80 copay at the office visit, I still had to cover an additional $110. In total, I ended up paying $190 plus the insurance-covered amount. To sum up, I paid $680 in total and ended up with more ankle pain. No matter how capitalistic the society is, a doctor's primary job is to treat patients, not to be a merchant. read more

Horrible patient relations. I called to inquire about a bill and had to leave a message on the billing line but never got a call back. Called again this time I was able to speak to someone that took a message but again never got a return call. Meanwhile I'm getting multiple messages about a due bill. My final call I was informed that since I had not been seen in 3 years that they can bill me as a new patient again without even letting me know this ahead of time. This is simply unacceptable and outrageous business practice. Also they overcharge for wrist brace. I asked the front desk what the cost was and her reply was "I don't know". I hate to even give it one star. Dr. Reeves did not discuss any options with me, although the medical notes from the appointment claim that he did; his notes say my knees were not "tender" or numb in any areas which they are, he never even asked - after nearly 25 years of chronic low back and leg pain I typically don't react visibly to "tender" or even most pain during an exam; and he gave me full injections of a steroid into each knee after I informed him to do 1/2 in each because I have a history of cardiac side effects from steroids!! The side effects were not just cardiac related today and I pray they start subsiding. I am infuriated that he completely ignored my direction even after stating that he would reduce the amount!!! I even repeated it to the tech that came in to set up the room for the injections before he went to get Dr. Reeves to do the injections. He did not appear to know anything about my history, other than what he read on a recent X-ray report, which shows much less than the MRI imaging and report from 2022 that I provided. There is quite a difference between them: May 2022 MRI of Right Knee: " IMPRESSION(S): 1. Complex tear of the medial meniscus with displaced meniscal fragment into the posterior intercondylar notch. 2. Tricompartmental osteoarthritis and chondromalacia, grade 4 at the patellofemoral compartment. 3. Cystic structure in the intercondylar tibial eminence may represent an intraosseous ganglion. May 2022 X-ray of both knees: " FINDINGS: AP, PA and lateral radiographs of the right knee were obtained while weightbearing. A sunrise view of the right knee was also obtained. Comparison views of the left knee are included in the study. Right knee: No acute fracture or dislocation is identified. There is at least moderate patellofemoral compartment osteoarthritis. Milder medial and lateral compartment osteoarthritis is noted. No joint effusion is seen. Meniscal tear is and the cystic structure in the intercondylar tibial eminence are better evaluated on MRI. Left knee: Mild medial compartment osteoarthritis is seen." April 2024 X-ray of both knees - Ordered by my spine pain management physician after I felt and heard a large and painful pop in my left knee (my good knee up until then). " Bilateral knees: Mild tricompartmental osteoarthritis in both knees, with patellofemoral predominance. Mild joint effusions. No acute fracture or dislocation. No active joint erosion." In November of 2023, an X-ray report from the same location even said there was mild spurring in both knees, which wasn't even mentioned in the most recent report: " FINDINGS: Tricompartmental osteoarthritis with marginal spurring in both knees, with patellofemoral compartment predominance. Mild soft tissue swelling. No soft tissue gas. No acute fracture or dislocation." It's clear that X-rays do not get the full picture of what is going on in your knees, just as the same was true for all of the issues in my spine, yet he did not seem it necessary to have further imaging of my knees done, such as a CT. Dr. Reeves also didn't warn me that steroids would cause a drastic spike in my blood glucose, which I was unaware of having been diagnosed as a diabetic just in the last year. His other treatment plan that I allegedly agreed to - I was told and then given a referral - was to go to p/t 2-3 times a week to strengthen my legs - he did not test my leg strength during the exam, which do not need strengthening - my leg strength is what has carried me through nearly 25 years of lower back problems being restricted with bending at the waist. The other problem with p/t is that I am currently in an SLE flare, so it is simply not an option right now. Needless to say, I have canceled my follow-up appointment and sent a message to Dr. Reeves regarding my experience. read more

Dr. Paddeter is wonderful and the Centreville location runs very efficiently. However, Reston and Fairfax is run horrifically, specifically with Dr. Kim and his extremely rude assistant Jasmine. After being told I would get an injection on my first visit with Dr. Kim, he came in and had me explain what was supposed to be in my chart. Everything was wrong, and even included that I was using IV drugs. I asked if he was going to get my injections ready and he said "oh no, this is a consultation"......I became frustrated and asked why this could not have been a telehealth call and why I was told previously I would be getting the injection that day. He said "because back issues are more expensive". 5 minutes after I left his office, my insurance approved the shot. He could have sent it in for approval rather than having me take off work to come in and walk him through what my chart should say. During this visit he also told me that my two herniated discs are "in my head" and that my "brain is preventing me from healing." He also told me that I am more likely to need surgery on my injury because my dad had the same injury.....however, I only have this injury because I was in a horrible car accident 4 months ago. Not sure how genetics plays a part in me potentially needing surgery. His assistant Jasmine has a horrible attitude when I was leaving and was visibly annoyed as I set up my follow up appointment. I called their offices to see if I could speak to another doctor and they called me back during work hours to speak. I am a teacher and I do not have any time during the day where I can call someone back, let alone go to the restroom. Then when you call back after hours, you're leaving a message with a call center. Each time I have called this call center it is not relayed to the office like I was told it would be. I came in today for my injection and was told that she cancelled the appointment and that I would not be getting my injection. Her voicemail did not indicate that she had cancelled it, and no one else called to tell me they cancelled. When I demanded to speak to Dr Kim, he refused to see me. Needless to say, I'm in pain, I'm furious, and if you are referred to Dr Kim, please request Dr. Agrwal. Her and her assistant called me back almost immediately to resolve the issue. They are squeezing me in today to see her. And come To find out, Dr Kim was going to give me the wrong injection. Please do not go to Dr. Kim. Don't give yourself the headache and stress of being disrespected by someone who is supposed to be treating you. read more

I went in for a frozen shoulder, and saw Dr. Miller. They enforced mask which I'm fine with that but they don't have masks to accommodate their clients. Every time I come in to see the Dr., I have to wait at least 15 minutes or so. Im always on time or 10 minutes early why can't the doctor be as well? That's bad time management in my opinion. My time is as valuable as theirs. They need to respect it too. The physical therapy I was in seems to be a joke. I was expecting mostly massage done to my shoulder but instead only received 10 minutes of massage for my first visit. Most of the other 50 minutes of the session were just exercises or stretches. All of which I can to do at home. I can save myself a lot of money just by doing all their suggestions at home. The second session, I was able to get 10 more minutes of massage for a total of 20 minutes. I decided to go to another massage therapy. Rose Hanah Massage. She gave me a 30 minute massage focusing on the shoulder and neck and OMg it worked wonders. My pain was less and I was able to move my shoulder a lot more. So the two one-hour at Town Center only gave me 10-15% relief whereas Rose's one half hour session gave me 60-70% relief. I'm not going back to Town Center. read more

My husband was 'given' a set of wrist braces last week at the Centreville office to try and help his hand and wrist pain. After a few hours one of the braces was digging a hole in his skin. We called and were told to bring it back, if it was defective then they would replace it. Today we returned to the office, my husband explained the situation, front desk staff asked for the name of the nurse that gave him the braces. How could he know the name of someone he saw once for a few minutes. They said they would try and find a nurse from Dr. Miller's office. My husband was in the office for an hour and it appeared that they made no attempt to find someone to help him with the braces. The front office staff leaves a lot to be desired. read more

My family and I have been patients at TCO for several years and have seen multiple doctors. All of the doctors have been excellent. I recently underwent spinal surgery with Dr. Pateder. Pateder is extremely knowledgeable, listens, explains things well, and treats his patients with respect. From my initial consultation, through surgery, and the recovery process, Dr. Pateder did an excellent job. The Physical Therapy staff in Centerville is also excellent. I, Ashok Jain, am writing this review regarding service provided by Dr. Miller at Town Center Orthopaedic Associates centreville location on Oct. 01'2021. We (My wife- Anjul Jain & I) went in for an injection shot in my wife's forehand. To our surprise Dr. Miller provided the service without wearing mask and gloves. We were surprised & shocked to see this approach/attitude of Dr.at a facility where use of mask & gloves is enforced & was a requirement as per CDC guidelines at that time due to COVID-19 conditions. On the top of it we were billed incorrectly. Since then we are trying to get this issue addressed/resolved so that such situation does not arise again but adding to our frustration & shock it has not been addressed so far though They have been contacted number of times. Every time either I got voice mail or was transferred from one person to another with a promise that someone will call me back ASAP. In the process names I can recollect having spoken to are 1. Nancy( very nice person), 2. Marleen (I understand she is no more at this location), 3. Jacky & 4.Rick It is really surprising to note the callous attitude/approach & their model of operation neglecting/overlooking CDC guidelines and not caring for safety of patient and visitors. It certainly is unprofessional approach ignoring professional ethics. It calls for a serious introspection to make required changes. I have had really good experiences with this practice. I am very active and have over the years had sports related injuries to various body parts and TCOA has been good for me. Pre-Covid their wait times could be a little long but the physicians, PA's, and radiology have been excellent. Ive seen Drs. Carter, Miller and Pateder and have liked them all. They listen to my goals and do a good job of helping me understand the nature of injuries and the plan of action for treatment and recovery. read more

BILLING IS A SCAM. After knee replacement, the doctor tells you to come for POST OP visits, and each visit is billed to you. Unnecessary payments are being asked from you. When I called them, they had the audacity to tell me - "Google it" and you will learn that all surgeries have some 30 day warranty period - RIDICULOUS. After that it is billed. As I broke my finger during a pandemic, I was worried about frequent medical treatments. First off, and many of us are thinking of it: The TCO Centerville office has great COVID precautions in place (plexiglass, check in, distancing in waiting room seating, masks, hand washing requirements, and cleaning) and make you feel very comfortable during your visits and like they have thought things through and have a system for the protection of patients and staff. Very reassuring. Patients in waiting room all followed protocols. All staff were helpful, professional and caring. All appointments were timely (within 10 minutes of appointment time) and it was easy to schedule my necessary follow ups. Dr. Miller, his assistants, the nurses and the radiology specialist are warm, patient-focused, professional, knowledgeable and caring. Answered all my questions and took my concerns seriously. Would recommend this team of medical professionals to anyone. I originally came without a referral bc the only ER referral was not in my insurance plan, but I feel glad and lucky to have found this care team. Dr Pateder did a Khyphoplasty on a fractured vertabrae. He had to stop several times because I was in so much pain. Cement got on this major nerve and I have been suffering for 5 years(pain meds getting slowly stronger after each year). I have now maxed out on pain meds. I was told by a neuro spine surgeon and Johns Hopkins Ortho Dr that the cement could not be removed. As I was leaving the first room to enter into the room where the Khypho would be done the nurse handed me several pages of fine print to sign, standing in the hall. I had my son waiting in the first room with a loud, severely Autistic child. I should have refused to sign. Of course papers said I would not hold Dr accountable for any adverse effects. This has ruined my life. read more

I saw Dr. Reeves for left knew pain. His staff is terrible. I made several calls to his staff and never received a return call. After my 1st visit he said there was a problem with my MCL. Then after 2 more office visits, Dr. Reeves recommended lubricant injections under the knee cap because he said I knee Arthritis. His staff explained that that insurance approval for the gel injections would take time. After one month, I received a letter from my insurance company stating that the gel request was declined. I called my insurance company, and they explained that the requester (Office staff) answered the request form questions incorrectly. I then called Dr. Reeves staff three times to explain why the request was declined and that they needed to resubmit a second request and to answer the form questions correctly. All I got was Crickets! No return calls. After one month from the insurance denial, I called my insurance to see if the doctor submitted a send request. Nothing! I went to see a send doctor and learned that my injury and pain was from a Grade 2 sprain to my MCL and not Arthritis. So I wasted three months of my time at Town Center Orthopedics. read more

I recently broke my right leg (tibial plateau fracture). I am very active with running, hiking, kayaking, and am a professional pilot. Therefore, I wanted to seek the best surgeon I could find to get me back on track. I found that with Dr. Abbas Naqvi. Dr Naqvi did a fantastic job with the surgical repair of my leg. He is a caring and brilliant surgeon. He is very easy to talk to and listens well. Additionally, one of my other physicians looked at my post surgical X-ray and stated that Dr. Naqvi was "an artist" and wanted his information so that he could refer other patients to him. I could not agree more based on the incredibly good results I am getting in PT. The office staff is also excellent and all of my questions and calls were addressed in the same day. After those replacements, I called Dr. Reeves' office frequently with questions concerning drugs, itching, pain, etc. I spoke with his two PAs at various times, Ryan and Nick. Both were extremely helpful and returned by calls and emails quickly. In one instance, Dr. Reeves called me personally. I have had over 15 office visits with Dr. Reeves. I have never felt rushed. He is understanding and patiently answers all my questions. My lengthy experience with Dr. Reeves and his PAs at the Centreville office has been excellent. read more

I have been on a journey of trying to find a source of my lower back/ groin pain for over 7 months now. I went through so many diagnostic tests and back injections and nothing seemed to work. Finally I decided to seek a second opinion. I scheduled an appointment with a neurosurgeon who recommended that I see a hip specialist since no one even looked at my hip. The office that my neurosurgeon recommended had pretty bad reviews so I did my own search and Town Center Orthopedics seem to have a lot of great reviews. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Reeves. I went in for an appointment and after waiting for Dr. Reeves in a room for over 30 min, he finally came in. He saw me for 5 minutes, told me I needed MRI and left. Once I got back with MRI results; he saw me for 3 minutes this time around after I waited in the room for 45 minutes just to find out that he can't help me. I see two other physicians at that practice and their service, on time and bed side manner are wonderful. Dr. Reeves not so much. read more

Called to make an appointment after doing MRI for left hip pain. The diagnosis was clear its a labrum tear and impingement. I was recommended this facility as it was supposed to be the best for this issue. During a scheduling call, I read the diagnosis to the scheduler and was asked which office I wanted to come. I said Ashburn because of where my friends did all the treatments. The scheduler explained that the consultation is $400. Came to the office today, the receptionist said that its not $400 for the consultation, it's a deposit only and there may be other charges depending on the visit! I was seen by Dr. Reeves. He spent 3 minutes with me and told me my diagnosis back after seeing MRI and reading the report that I brought. He said that he doesn't do this type of procedure and I need to see Dr. Miyamoto. I dont know why I was even scheduled to see this doctor! I was under the impression I am going to see the surgeon who does labrum tear. As I was explained by the billing specialist of Dr. Reeves, all the schedulers are top notch. If so, then why was I directed to the wrong doctor after specifying what I am coming in with? The end result is $500 for 3 minutes and all I got was read my diagnosis back to me. Billing is not helpful, not only they could not apply the "deposit" to Dr. Miyamoto, I ended up owing money for what I already knew to begin with. One of the worst experiences I have had at a doctor's office. I saw Dr. Bhatia, who was not only late to the appointment, but did not provide the level of interest and empathy towards my chronic pain that I had expected from a pain management physician. Very surprising given his website bio that describes his complete understanding of the emotional and physical toll chronic pain can have on people. Unfortunately, however, empathy cannot be taught or learned. Dr Bhatia left the room in the middle of my asking a question, insisting that my appointment was over, as I challenged his unwillingness to provide alternative treatments to me. This was after he spent less than 5 MINUTES with me, and did not even perform a physical exam. The medical assistant then proceeded to clean the room, while I was still sitting shocked in the room, and proceeded to laugh about it outside of the room with others. I decided follow up with the operations manager who seemed completely disinterested and did not follow up that week, despite promising to. Perhaps if you called your patients back as promised, they would not be forced to follow up with you multiple times. I'm not sure why doctors feel patients do not have the right to challenge their lack of empathy and substandard care, without accusing the patient of being unreasonable. Perhaps you should consider your website statement, "He [Dr Bhatia] stresses on the importance of educating his patients about their medical ailments and treating them with the same integrity and honesty if the roles were reversed." I can't imagine the doctor or his staff would wish to be treated this way if the roles were reversed. I have filed a complaint with the VA Medical Board as I do not believe medical professionals should be allowed to treat people with this level of disinterest. read more

This review is for the Centreville office. I had a frozen shoulder problem and needed physical therapy for twenty sessions. My experience was amazing. The environment was very friendly and the team received me like a family member. They tried to build a positive relationship with their patients. Every time they would greet and ask how I was feeling. Gabby, Chris, Melissa, and another gentleman whose name I forgot, were awesome therapists. Their assistant were very helpful, too. Each session they would spend a great amount of time to massage the area which was in pain. Any time I felt pain they would apologize, and make sure I could tolerate it. They tried to get to know me and we had lively dialogue during each treatment. I highly recommend this team for physical therapy. read more

POOR TIME MANAGEMENT! I had a 2:15 appt with Dr.Miller and I called in advance to make sure he was on time and was told that he was. I arrive at 2:15 and am told he is running 20 minutes late. One hour later, I have not been seen. If I didn't like Dr.Miller so much, I would never have come back here. This is his second appointment that has been horribly late. Skip to post surgical appointment... And again I have to wait 45 minutes not for Dr. Miller to see me but just his surgical assistant. He came in for about 30 seconds didn't even look at my surgical wound, then turned around and went home for the day. This was about 12:30 in the afternoon. 4.5 stars for the actual surgical procedure though! read more

I cannot express how amazing these orthopaedists are. I have seen three ortho's here and have received star treatment. I received an excellent wrist surgery- my recovery is almost done! Dr. Miller was so comforting prior and following the surgery, anyone with surgery-angst would do well to have him as your surgeon. I also see TCO for my physical therapy for my foot (I know, I am a mess). The receptionist is the NICEST person, as well. She will always make you feel welcome whether it is your first or tenth time visiting. read more

After breaking my ankle badly, I started physical therapy with no mobility and lots of discomfort. Chris was more than great to work with through my recovery. He was very informative and never made me feel silly when I asked a ton of questions. The progress has been incredible and even my doctor is amazed at the work we've done at PT. I was initially told by the surgeon that I would have really bad arthritis for the rest of my life due to the severity of my break. At my last appointment only 14 weeks after, he said the work Chris did with me probably eliminated that! I am incredibly grateful. The whole staff at Town Center was great to work with. Scheduling was easy, I was always welcomed with a smile and friendly greeting, and there was plenty of assistance as I went through my appointment. I would refer anyone there. read more
