We have been a long-term client (almost 20 years). Unfortunately, the agency is not what is used to be. They have placed candidates without the appropriate level of experience, which has created some challenges. They seem to source candidates by relying on 3rd party cites, and have now very light vetting. They have also interfaced with us in a way that lacked not only polish, but a true lack of professionalism, a lack of empathy, and quite frankly, a lack of competence. read more

This agency changed my life! I am currently on my second job placement by Town + Country Resources, and wholeheartedly recommend it for both job seekers and families alike. I will be writing as a job seeker: First off, the quality of the job advertisements and the prospective families is unmatched. Salaries range from $30+ per hour to six figures and really run the gamut when it comes to position types (nanny, house manager, family assistant, etc.). Plus, the amount of jobs listed on any given week is substantial. Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, the staff is amazing in so many ways, most of all in regard to their attentiveness and assistance. We hired a nanny during Covid so it was an especially challenging time, from finding the right person for us to navigating the complexities and sensitivities around the pandemic. T&C held our hand through the process, showed us several candidates that met our criteria, and supported us in asking the hard questions and in making a thoughtful offer. I would dock half a star because it is quite expensive. In my mind, it was worth it to have gotten our nanny (she's a perfect fit) -- but I am sure there are many families who would not be able to afford the services. We have sourced two nannies through Town + Country now. We loved our first one and already love our new nanny. Super safe and super qualified. They seem to be able to get great candidates, and I really value all the vetting that they already did before they submitted candidates to us for review. References already interviewed, background checks done, qualifications matched to our requirements, etc. The second time around, I tried simultaneously sourcing candidates through a bay area mom's group to make sure I did my due diligence and just ended up wasting tons of time and stress. I hope not to need a third nanny but if I do need any other help around the house, T+C is my plan. read more

What is the point of offering temporary nanny jobs when they require you to have references of families that you have worked with for at least a year? I've been a paid childcare provider for the past 3.5-4 years and all while I was attending college. My school schedule changes every semester (3-4 months) and thus, I can only work with a family for that extended amount of time. I am unable to commit long-term and the families I've worked with were understanding of that. I filled out an application/interest form online and Kate called me back and left a voicemail for me to reach out to her and talk about my experience. When I returned the call, she was not there and they had me speak to her partner, Ally. Ally then referred me to Melissa from the temporary jobs department who ultimately turned me down due to my inability to provide references of families that I worked with for at least a year. To me, it seems that they prefer quantity over quality. I may not have worked with a family for a long-period of time but have a lot of experiences with multiple families who can vouch for me and yet they didn't even bother to speak to my references to see for themselves. This company is guilty of false advertisement. What is the purpose of temporary work then? Families' schedules changes and so does the nannies. I have yet to find a nanny agency that actually cares about nannies as without them, they are unable to maintain their business. I am so disappointed in you, T&C. Many fellow nannies have mentioned your agency and how they were able to find great work and yet your screening process is utter bullshit. To each their own. It would have been very different if they didn't see me qualified enough after reviewing my experience and references (which would be understandable because I have much less years of experience than the nannies I've encountered) but they turned me down for simply not having the type of references they're looking for. read more

I thought they were good however when I was put in a position with a family that I'm sure are not typical of their clients. This family lives in a rent controlled apartment. Even though the parent's are both Dr's they have neglected their home and in my opinion put their children in an environment that hadn't been attended to in 15 yrs. It was shocking when the client said a uniform was required. I saw past it all because I knew how grateful and happy the kids were. I took the job even though i hated working in these dirty awful conditions. I told the family I would do the job with an extra 5 an hour. She said great. I said good I spent a couple hours researching products to make the house better and I need you to invest in this for us to work together. She said great ....im on board. While I haven't used T&C for 6 years, and I believe they tried their best, I encountered the following: 1. Excellent live in nanny who quickly proved to have issues with: a. addicted to prescription medications for which she lacked prescriptions. Let herself run out and was utter mess when I arrived home. Her behavior and competency proved to vary widely even when on medications. b. low self image: slept-around a lot. In our house. 2. Temporary sitter - came home to weeping child locked out of house by the nanny. The temp. continued to harangue me, as I attempted to calm down child, telling me in a very injured way that my 4 year old "interrupted her" too much. She wouldn't stop complaining which wasn't helping the child to calm down so finally I told her she needed to leave immediately and we'd settle up later. 3. Nanny employed through them was called with offer to take a different full-time position by same agency after partial refund period had expired and while she still lived with us and worked for us. Nanny was very happy live-in so she'd not contacted them. 4. Other nannies were temps, some quite competent, some less so but didn't fare as badly as the first 2 above. The net net is you have to do your own thorough checking. It is tough to be a perfect nanny agency. You'll create some perfect connections and some will not work out. The obligation to ensure the person is right fit and doing what's needed is up to the parent. read more

I'm very disappointed with Town & Country. I've tried using them as a nanny several times & they had an excuse each time. The first time, they told me I don't have enough experience despite 10+ years working with kids. I have 24 child development units as well. Another time they told me I live too far from their clients - then do not advertise you have clients in San Jose/south bay. Another time they said they need live in nannies. They are LIARS. I was (and still am) more than qualified for the jobs listed on their site. The most recent experience is when one of the owners reached out to me for a position in their offices as a recruiter. Based on my profile they felt I'd be a great candidate. I had a phone interview & two days later told they decided to go with other people with more recent office experience. I think that I don't have a bachelor's degree & live in Gilroy is being used against me based on her reaction on the phone. All were clearly stated on my profile & resume. If these are qualities you want, then why did you contact me? I have yet to meet a family who thinks it's bad I have child development units & was a preschool teacher. If anything, parents like those qualities. And if where I live is a concern, I have never been late for any job & usually commute long distances for jobs. Get your act together T&C. read more

They have a decent candidate pool. When selecting a nanny they become very aggressive about starting them quickly in order for them to get paid 18% for full time or over 30% for part time. Very sales oriented a la pay me now. Very pushy & uncomfortable. Then they charge you without notice or invoice. They will take commission on a full year salary even when your nanny might not even make it to a year due to their own personal circumstances. They placed a great nanny with us full time, although she did smoke. After 10 months she left us to move out of the country. I am stuck paying T&C a full commisison (almost $7000) with no refund, have no help and am forced to start the process over after less than a year. I wouldn't recommend using them until all other resources are exhausted. read more

I signed up at Town & Country back in August. When I went in, I filled out a HUGE stack of papers, and then interviewed with a woman to talk about specifics... And then, that was it! Well, for the most part. After a brief waiting period, in which Town and Country did EVERYTHING for me, I had five interviews.. I loved how the company was with me every step of the way, following up with interviews, sending me directions and confirmations and specifics on each family I interviewed with. And all of this is FREE to the nanny!! I ended up finding a great family who I have been with since September. I highly recommend Town & Country Resources to anyone seeking a nanny, or a nanny position. They have always been extremely responsive in finding the highest quality candidiates to accommodate our specific needs. Even in times when a housekeeper does not end up being a good fit or decides to move on, the Town & Country team is at the ready to find a suitable replacement in an efficient and timely manner. Given that my mother has full-time live-in caregivers because of her medical condition, the household employee that we hire needs to work in coordination with both my mother and the caregiver, and the T & C staff is sensitive to locating part-time employees who are able satisfy this requirement of the job.
