I am leaving a five star review because my interactions with Rimma have been great, so I do not want to hurt their business rating. We hired a nanny, Mimi (also goes by Mary Beth) for one day per week. Over the course of just a few months, Mimi took multiple days off, was then absent for an extended period, and resigned abruptly via text message with zero notice, claiming she had an ongoing family emergency to tend to. After Mimi's resignation, the agency shared that she had expressed concerns about working with our family. I honestly took the feedback hard and it sent me to a dark place, as I didn't know this nanny I TRUSTED was judging me and my home so harshly when I'm just trying to do the best I can as a postpartum working mom. For what it's worth, much of the feedback seemed to be rooted in misunderstandings and in some cases, reflected basic responsibilities that were explicitly outlined in our nanny agreement. And none of those concerns had ever been raised directly despite months of her being sweet and warm to our faces. Again, I do not blame the agency. While I can't recommend our experience with this particular nanny, I can say that Rimma handled a very difficult situation with professionalism and compassion, which is why I'm choosing to leave the agency a five-star review. Rimma followed up with us thoughtfully and took our concerns seriously, and worked quickly to ensure we had a fantastic temporary nanny in place so our family wasn't left without childcare. read more

Our family worked with SPN to find a nanny in early 2022. SPN was able to present us with several highly qualified nanny candidates, and we were able to hire a nanny who has truly become part of our family. The hiring process was efficient and SPN remained communicative throughout. Beyond the process of hiring a full-time nanny, we have been very happy with the additional "post-hiring" support from SPN - including the opportunity to have a backup nanny (if our regular nanny is out) and helping us figure out nitty gritty details such as payroll, nanny contract, etc. We would highly recommend SPN to other families! read more

I offered other times I could be available and never heard from them again. I even matched their price points. I don't have time to chase them down to give them $100 an hour. Searching for childcare is hard enough - I had tried multiple routes but was unsatisfied with the results. Finally, our pediatrician recommended Stanford Park Nannies (SPN), and what I learned convinced me to go with them. 1. they've been in business in the Bay area for at least a couple decades, establishing a strong network. 2. they focus only on nannies (rather than in-home chefs as well for instance), so they truly know nannies. 3. the nannies they work with are vetted and selected - only recommending nannies that have followed through on a multitude of background screening checks (the comprehensiveness of these checks are unbeatable and practically not reproducible if one was independently doing all these checks). 4. Maggie, who is the Placement Director at SPN, spent time understanding my needs and schedule (which was rather irregular), helped me to understand the market in the area, then filtering for nannies who could potentially work out, saving me a ton of wasted effort. And of note, I've spoken with 3 SPN employees, who have struck me as skillful communicators. The nannies SPN introduced me to were truly on a different level in terms of responsibility and professionalism than I had encountered previously through many other sources. We were really impressed with our chosen nanny, who has worked with out family for a year. All in our family really appreciate her, and our daughter adores her. Even so, times may come up for the employer/employee relationship that can be challenging to navigate especially for first-time parents, and Maggie at SPN was there for us - responding to our needs and ultimately playing an important role in helping to make the experience of having a nanny in our family a satisfying one for us all. We had the pleasure of working with SPN and with Rimma when we were looking for a nanny for my newborn. This was our second kid and we had toddler also at home due to daycare being closed down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As you can imagine, not having a nanny was extremely stressful as managing two very small, dependent kids while also managing work was very hard for me and my partner. We had been looking for a nanny for few months on our own, found one who didn't turn out to be good fit and quit, and were exhausted. We had also tried using an agency (that was cheaper than SPN) but they were unable to find a nanny even after 5 months, stating COVID as the reason. When we reached out to Rimma and SPN, we were at our ropes' end. Rimma helped us get to well defined but not prescriptive job description for the nanny, worked along side us to guide us through the interview process, sent resumes that met our defined needs, arranged prompt interviews for candidates we liked and checked in on us to explore different options (such as temp nanny) as we navigated the full-time nanny search process with her. We hired our full time nanny almost 4 years ago through SPN and couldn't be happier. The interview process was so streamlined because SPN took care of all screening and matching us with the right candidates. Daryl, one of the co-owners, personally helped us throughout our search. She continues to respond to my questions 4 years later to support complicated issues such as best practices for raises, market conditions for compensation, and traveling with nanny. SPN has by far the best nanny pool in the area, many of the nannies who have temped or interviewed with us only take placements through SPN. Recently we began using the SPN temp program and I couldn't be more impressed with the caliber of nannies sent to us. I consider my 2 boys under 3 years old to be a handful, but each temp nanny has immediately engaged both of them and had no trouble getting them down for naps, following their routine, and operating with little direction. They have run errands like grocery shopping, laundry, and even driving the kids. I have full faith SPN will only send impeccably qualified and screened temp nannies, which has not been my experience with care.com's work in-home coverage. We are going on two years (this August) with our nanny and couldn't be happier. I'm sure it's not easy selecting a nanny for many families but we hit the jackpot when Daryl introduced us to the first and only nanny we interviewed. She's amazing and was a perfect fit for our family. My sons adore her and we love her. She will be going on maternity leave soon and we were very concerned about finding a temp. I called and spoke with Maggie who almost immediately found us someone. She hasn't started yet and we only had a phone interview so far but she sounds great. I'll have to update this with our experience later. I know it's not easy to trust a stranger with your family and not every nanny will fit your family just right but I didn't have time filter through care.com any longer (terrible response time and mediocre options... at least when I was looking) and was referred to SPN by a friend. Daryl at Stanford Park Nannies was helping us to find a full time nanny in summer 2013. We had a real bad experience overall. All the candidates she recommended were below average. We tried one of her candidates for a trial period and she was disinterested and was mean to my daughter. I overheard her yelling at my daughter on the first day. My daughter is 3 years old now and still remembers her unpleasant experience with her. This agency claims that they have the best nannies in the area. They put a good show but there is absolutely no substance in their work. Overall it was a waste of time and money to engage them. I don't recommend this agency to anyone who cares about the quality of the nanny. I ended up finding a wonderful and caring nanny through PAMP and my toddler and my baby love her. read more

We used SPN to find a night nurse for our new baby. I didn't realize how early you have to book baby nurses (4-6 months in advance!) so didn't start looking until about 2 months out. Daryl presented two candidates within a week and we hired one of them. We were thrilled with our baby nurse. She is knowledgable, confident, very gentle with our baby, and always on time. Which is exactly what her SPN references said. Our nurse also speaks highly of SPN, which is another vote of confidence for them as an agency. She says Daryl and staff are very thorough in checking references and tracking down every job she's worked on to find out how it went. We are going to use SPN to find a long-term nanny for our son. Yes, there are fees, but this is a critical decision. You will lose more in worry and lost productivity by trying to economize on this decision. read more

I'm really happy to be working with Stanford Park Nannies. I'm a nanny and I've been with their agency for a little over 6 months. I primarily work with Maggie, but all of the women who work at SPN are incredibly helpful and communicative. The initial interviewing process was thorough, they asked important questions, and really got to know me as a childcare provider. I felt a lot more at ease, after having interviewed with them, because I better understood what an asset working with an agency could be. There's such a warmth in every interaction and I feel very heard. They're a great sounding board, they help you manage your expectations, and they're really on top of things. It seems like they pay attention to both the client's needs and the nanny's needs and try to find a comfortable balance. As a nanny, I've worked for families outside of an agency and found that things like figuring out fair pricing, creating healthy boundaries, and generally knowing how things are typically done can get a little murky. If I had any concerns or tough conversations needed to be had, I would have a hard time knowing how to start the conversation and knowing what was and wasn't fair. SPN really provides you with a very current understanding of what should be expected of nannies and of employers and in a way they empower you by coaching you through it all. Having someone who understands how to present you and your strong suits to families, and who has really done their homework on you beforehand is really helpful. When I started to interview with families, they gave me great feedback and it felt like I had my own personal interviewing-cheerleaders! They reminded me to be patient and now I nanny for an awesome family and have more on-call nannying than I sometimes know what to do with. The relationship between nannies and the families they work with is a fairly intimate one and I think the fact that Stanford Park Nannies treats it as such is really honestly refreshing. I worked with four different nanny staffing agencies on two different occasions to identify a full-time nanny for my 8-month old son. I would rate Stanford Park Nannies very highly. +Great flow of very qualified candidates +All candidates were prepared to pay taxes (something we weren't able to find on candidates we surfaced through our own networks and through PAMP) +Great vetting process with thorough pre-interviewing, Trustline, private investigation, and detailed references +Had a good understanding of what we were seeking and did not waste our time with those that weren't a fit. In fact, after hearing feedback on one candidate interview, Daryl canceled the following candidate because she did not think the person would be a match based on feedback we were giving her. +Ability to quickly identify relevant interim/temp nannies as well As I was nearing the end of my search and trying to decide between two great candidates, I felt Daryl was a great partner in making the decision. Even though one of the candidates had come via another agency, she knew the nanny well and so was able to help me think through who would be the best personality fit with our family. I really felt like she wanted us to make the best choice for us and was not trying to sell me on her candidate in particular which would have garnered her a fee. In the end we did select the SP Nannies candidate, but she did not push us one way or the other. At the very end, she delighted us by giving us a discount. We had misfired on our previous nanny (not referred by SP Nannies) which had cost us quite a lot of money and in order to help alleviate some of that pain, she discounted our final bill. I've used Stanford Park Nannies for long-term and temporary placements to care for my two children over many years. I have been completely impressed with every nanny they've sent and currently have a SPN nanny who was placed a year and a half ago who cares for my toddler. She is amazing, warm, careful, conscientious. Last weekend a new nanny came for four hours so that I could spend time with my eldest child. She was an incredibly intelligent, caring person. I have never seen my son more sad to see a nanny leave! He hugged her three times. He never does that. SPN always sends such wonderful people. If you are looking for an agency to hire a professional & certified nanny, please don't engage with SPN. Not sure if you have noted all the reviews on yelp, most positive reviews are only from Nannies & not families. We had a good consultation with Maggie in what we were looking for in a nanny ( experienced in toddler care, certified, energetic). SPN does not really work on getting you the right fit for your requirements, they look for folks who are available to do the job when you need them. Providing a wrong fit for the family & not ensuring that it matches with your requirements can be very time consuming because you make the time to interview them & invest in trials where either the nanny is not interested or the nanny has not met the requirements. All nannies they sent to us were also on care.com so, if you have the time to search for a nanny in care.com, please don't waste your money:) Here are the 3 nanny trials we had, 1.The nanny that was presented to us had just moved from Seattle & she had no drivers license for CA, she was not interested in the job it still intervshe was also available on care.com to hire & barely had 3 years of childcare experience that to with some known families. When she came in for a trial, she did not say a word l, did not talk to my son, did not know any nursery rhymes & we wasted our time & money on this trial. 2. On another trial, nanny was good but was not a toddler/infant experienced & she wanted to discipline my son on day one & was not able to put him to sleep. My son cried so hard like he was loosing breadth which goes to show that the nanny did not know how to console him or take care of him while he was crying. She was yawning on day 2 of our trial & was completely laid back, had no energy whatsoever. 3. The third trial was epic, the nanny was an oncall nanny & had absolutely no experience in toddlers, could not bath, sing a nursery rhyme, did not know how to change diapers etc. or was not willing to, we ended up doing most of the work ourselves so it was really not a trial Our requirement was very simple but they were not able to find a good fit. We were presented with 8-9 candidates & we rejected most of them, it just goes to show how much the candidates fit into our requirements & the service that was provided to find the right fit in the right budget. I would have been happy if they would have told me upfront that they don't have any nannies that are certified, energetic or have toddler care specialization. So be aware that this is not the place to find the right fit for your family. Throughout the Maggie was very responsive & professional but did not have any quality candidates that she had promised to present. We ultimately found a good nanny through another agency within a week & with just one trial. My experience was bad with SPN & I want to make sure you are not wasting your time because kids are precious & we want them to be under professional care. read more

My situation is very unique (I needed someone to work full time but only for about six months). Maggie was so accommodating, prompt and helpful! I chose them based on feedback from my parents' club, where far more people complained about the other local agency than SPN. We were happy with our experience. However, I'm also not looking to economize on childcare and am uncomfortable choosing someone random off something like craigslist (sorry, but sourcing a nanny off somewhere where people are posting naked pics is just not for me.) Night Nannies: We used SPN to find a night nanny to help with our newborn. They sent us six candidates for interviews. One was a definite no, three were maybes, and two we thought were great. SPN gives you written references from interviews they do with past families, but I was wary of the potential spin, so I called several references for both of our top candidates myself. They were glowing. We hired one of the candidates and she worked out beautifully. She was totally knowledgeable and flexible. She listened to how we wanted to do things, but was also willing to offer advice and guidance on things that we, as new first-time parents, were a little wary of. She was instrumental in telling us when we needed to start increasing the amount of food our baby ate, when he needed to be swaddled, how to minimize spitting up, how to bathe him safely, etc. We use her sometimes for daytime hours still, since we liked her so much. Full-time day nannies: We also called SPN for a full-time nanny when I was getting ready to go back to work. Again, we received a number of what appeared on paper to be very qualified candidates. I would say there were 8-10 people we were willing to interview, and that was after sorting through to find people specifically with infant experience and a child-development background. We did not progress to interviewing, since I decided not to go back to work. Part-time Day Nannies: I also checked with them about part-time nannies, and there the choices were definitely much more limited (just a few candidates over the space of several weeks) and not as qualified. You're probably better off working through your network, though it doesn't hurt to try the agencies. As far as the fees, you pay an application fee to sign up. It's somewhere around $150-250. If you don't find a candidate that works for you, you don't pay anything else. If you do find someone, yes, it's expensive. It's like executive recruiting -- they get a cut, somewhere in the range of 10-20%, depending on the type of service and length of time you are engaging the nanny. However, for that, you get someone who is background checked, Trustline registered, CPR certified, and has a clean CA drivers' license. They also state what the fees are up front, so I'm unclear why someone would be shocked when they actually find a candidate. One other thing to be aware of is that you need to look for your nanny in advance in order to get the best candidates. If you do it last minute, your choices won't be as good. For the night nanny, plan on 4-6 months in advance (they book early) -- we nailed ours down by Thanksgiving for a March baby. For a daytime nanny, start about 2 months before you need someone. If you don't do this, I could see how you'd end up with slim pickings. read more

Background: We originally went out on our own and through recommendations, hired a night nurse to care for our twins. The night before coming home from the hospital, the night nurse we had originally hired, flaked! We called SPN the next morning. Daryl was extremely responsive and thorough. She found us a night nurse within a few hours and we met with the nurse the next day. Our night nurse has been perfect! Lessons learned: 1. We didn't have to waste more of our time to hunt for a new night nurse. 2. All of SPN's night nurses/nannies and pre-screened and have undergone scrutinous background checks. 3. Daryl's innate sense for fitting nurses/nannies with families is a win-win. And yes, it is very hard to find great help, especially in the Bay Area and especially a night nurse for twins. I'm extremely upset with this agency. I'm current working and I will need to find another family soon since my boss will not work anymore. I never try to find a family trough an agency. This was the first time. After 3 weeks that I had my interview I finally call them to see if they will contact the current family that I'm working with because we will leave for a trip. I call them and ask for my situation they said that they would call me back. After 3 hours Meggie call me and she sad that they could not help me to find a job. She said that they called 2 references and one of them did not match with the Kids ages that I filled up the application and also the year that I started and that I finished. I try to ask her to help me to fix the dates. I'm almost sure that I put the wrong age of the kids that I used to take care 5 years ago. I try to explain to her that when I filled up the application I did not gave my best. I was in a hurry and the chances that I probably made the wrong math with the kids ages is HUGE. she did not accept ! She hang up the phone on me. She actually made me cry. She was extremely rude!!! She treated very bad just like if I was a lier or something like that. I do have prof. of all my jobs and I did not deserve to be treated like that!!! After 3 weeks of my interview???? Why she did not tell me before that they could not help me ???? I contact them ... She knew that was my first time looking for a job trought an agency. They suppose to explain to the candidate to be careful about the dates and ages. Honestly, I have been taking care of kids for 10 years. I was a teacher. We can make mistakes with dates and ages. I try to call her back to see if she could be more clear with me ... I said That it was probably a misunderstanding. Maybe the family that I used to work made a mistake ... she had 8 nannies during 16 years. I found SPN to be extremely professional. I had an initial meeting with Daryl. She listened to what I was looking for in a nanny. They have a nice process for letting you know about possible candidates, they arrange the visits, and they support your decision process. I'm super picky about babysitters and Daryl very supportively sent candidate after candidate when I didn't find what I was looking for. In fact she called me from her vacation to talk through one candidate I was considering. I felt guilty that I was being so picky, but Daryl was right there with me every step, assuring me that we would find the right fit. The candidates they sent were experienced and highly recommended by previous employers, just not the exact personality I was looking for. Daryl was always reachable by phone and was kind and easy to talk to. She's a smart lady, very professional. Eventually we found a SPN who has been with us 18 months, we're very happy. Here's a testament to how professional Daryl is - the nanny we found had been working for a friend (who found originally her through SPN) so we didn't actually find her directly through the agency. So even though Daryl had been working with us for a month and we didn't end up paying the placement fee, she was genuinely happy for us and gracious and professional. I used Stanford Park Nannies when I moved into the area last year. We were looking for a full time nanny to take care of our seven and three year old. At Stanford Park Nannies, I had a positive experience with the entire nanny hiring process from interviews to making an offer. I have medical issues and my son has some special needs. They were compassionate and understanding and easy to work with. I am super happy with the nanny I found and would use Stanford Park Nannies again. I'd happily suggest them to someone looking for a nanny agency as well. If there were room for improvement, I would wish for what my nanny agency did in seattle which was to give nannies and parents the same parenting style quiz and match nannies with families who had the same parenting style. This review is so overdue! Everyone at Stanford park nannies is so helpful and a joy to work with! I reached out to the agency for an interview in January of 2016, and was scheduled for March. I met with Maggie (she was so warm, and welcoming), she went over everything with me, how the process worked, what to expect, and how best to go about the next steps. Once I was selected after the interview, I started receiving calls and emails from both Maggie and Daryl if they thought I would be interested in a job posting. I met with multiple families for interviews and went on multiple working interviews as well. I let Maggie and Daryl know which families were great, but not the right fit and they made sure to help me with that. When I found the right family- I let Daryl know and the rest was history! I have now been working for the family for almost 7 months and it is incredible. I could not be more happy with the help and service from Daryl, Maggie, and the rest of the staff at Stanford Park Nannies! They also follow up and check in from time to time.
