This is a long post, but it's DEFINITELY worth the read. If you're thinking about getting your ears pierced, do NOT GO TO CLAIRE'S. In October, I decided to get my double piercings done at Claire's because I figured that using a piercing gun would be easier, less painful, and a quick procedure compared to how tattoo shops do it. Right? WRONG. Not only did the gun get stuck halfway through and my ears were firetruck red for days after, but the pain was bad enough so that I couldn't sleep on either side for a week. Furthermore, as Claire's admitted THEMSELVES, the earrings they use are of subpar quality and they've had a lot of issues with them falling out and with infection. Just 2 weeks after I got pierced at Claire's, my right earring fell out and my wound closed up overnight. A Claire's employee blamed it on really crappy, imported earrings and recommended that I burn the tip of a safety pin and re-open it myself, since they couldn't do anything to help me. I was so horrified that a so-called "professional" would recommend such a terrible solution that I left and never came back. As of yesterday, my old piercing was fully healed over, so I went to Town Hall Tattoo in the Wyoming Valley Mall to get it re-pierced, to check the other ear piercing to see if it was healed and aligned properly, and to get some high-quality jewelry instead of the "gold-plated" crappy posts I was wearing. Town Hall Tattoo came highly recommended by my friend, who had her cartilage pierced there and was really happy with the results. Now, the reason I didn't go to a professional tattoo shop in the first place is because I am scared of needles. I don't like needles ONE DAMN BIT, so going in to get my ears pierced with a needle made me very anxious. However, after I saw Ryan's piercing studio, I was put at ease. He is extraordinarily clean; I mean, everything was pristine. He went to great measures to make sure everything was beyond sanitary. However, he is not only extremely clean, but funny, extraordinarily knowledgeable, and creative. He looked at my ears and knew exactly where a good placement would be, and told me about what he was going to do in detail. His body jewelry was beautiful and very good quality, too. However, what impressed me the most was the actual piercing itself. I was prepared for a lot of pain and blood, like there was with the piercing gun at Claire's, but I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. I heard a pop, and after a few seconds of brief pain (more discomfort than actual pain), it was over. After a minute, the pain was completely gone, and my piercing looked BEAUTIFUL! He gave me lots of great advice, and even gave me free aftercare! That night, I was even able to sleep on my side without any discomfort, and very minimal swelling. I was so happy... and then I got really, really mad at myself that I let my ears anywhere NEAR a piercing gun and the China-made bacteria-traps that Claire's sells as earrings. I am beyond thrilled with my new piercings and I'm even coming back in today to get my third lobe piercings done! Ryan from Town Hall Tattoo is the BEST!!! read more

Wanna give a huge shout out to Adam P Fejes for doing amazing on my tattoo, this picture was from a few weeks ago. This is one of my favorites. I've been here more than a couple times and so far the one who did the best work was Adam. Not only did he do amazing work on me but he was very polite and funny. He was very friendly. Town Hall turns away business left and right and it's mind blowing to me that they just let money walk out of the door without a care in the world. I went there on Monday looking to buy new jewelry for my nose piercing. When they girl at the front asked if i needed help and i told her what i was looking for, she said she couldn't sell jewelry on monday, wednesday, and friday bc the piercer isn't there and he has the lock to the case. WHY? why wouldn't you want to sell what you have at all times no matter if the piercer is working or not? I understand the piercer knows the proper jewelry and sizing for different piercings but your staff should also be just as educated on all services you offer so they that can sell the merchandise as well. Another business town away... My step dad had an apt scheduled for a tattoo for a few weeks and was on his way to the apt. today. When he got there they never had his apt. scheduled and when he said the name of the artist, they had informed him that the artist had moved to a new shop. Instead of recommending an artist they had at the shop, or a different time to come back for an apt. they gave him the number of the artist who he has originally booked with. I guess that was kind of them, but as someone who is in the business industry i don't understand how you just constantly turn down sales as they walk in door. read more

DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE!! They stole our deposit and justified it by crossing out the name of the artist we had requested to tattoo us and put a completely different artists name in the place of the one we wanted. They never told us until the last minute. We canceled because that was NOT what we put a deposit for and they refused to give us our deposit back for THEIR mistake. Liars and thief! I usually love going to get my tattoos done at this shop, but I got a Halloween flash tattoo last year that ended up getting infected BAD. The situation was not their fault, but I went to the hospital for it due to severe sickness for weeks. I stopped by recently to ask for a quote price for a touch up, but instead I got an awful attitude from the younger receptionist, basically acting as if I made the whole thing up. I left with no pricing, and I felt as if I were treated like I am stupid. This was a horrible experience from a good tattoo shop, and it affected my opinion on them, unfortunately. The first thing I noticed was how clean the place was. The staff up front were very professional but still very cool and friendly. I got a tattoo and later a piercing and both the tattoo artist and piercer were amazing. Both of them were friendly and obviously very well trained. this is a good tattoo and piercing shop but i went to get my nose piercing changed and the lady at the front desk was very rude and gave me an attitude. my friend told me she went to go there to get her nose ring changed for $20, and then the lady told me she can't do that because i'm a minor and we have to use they're jewelry and it would be 40+. this girl was a bitch and i would definitely tell her to fuck off if i ever see her again. read more

This has to be the best looking tattoo shop I have ever seen. The decor is very rich in style. The lady in the front Dee (who is also one if the owners) is a pleasure to chat with and her husband Chris Longo, has a vast collection of tattoos from all over the world. While collecting there art work there knowledge and love grew, and I am very impressed with the amount of knowledge and talent that this shop has. read more

I had the worst experience here. I took my daughters boyfriend here last Sunday to get his ears pierced. Well by Wednesday even though he was using saline on the ear and making sure everything was tight he lost a diamond only the post and back remained. He called Ryan and was told to come down and he would take care of it. He took care of it alright he proceeded to tell him when we got there it was going to be 40.00. He told him he wasn't paying 40.00 so he said ok 20.00. So he came out to me and asked if I thought that was right. Now keep in mind over 130.00 was spent to get 2 ears pierced. That included the saline they insist you buy there for 12-13 dollars a can which cost 6 in a drug store. So I went up to Ryan and said he's not even paying 20.00 after I just spent all this (it was his birthday gift) Ryan said fine I'm not doing it at all and pulled the post out of his ear which left blood running down his ear and a bruised ear lobe. He then followed me out to the front of the store and told me that he paid 17.00 for these earrings now why would you readily admit that when you charge such an exuberant fee for a 10 minute process if that. I said ok pierce it for 20.00 then. He said "no now I'm charging you 40.00. He then asked me "lady where do you work. Now keep in mind he is also F-ing me upside down and other curses as well. This is not a shop in a building this is in a mall where any one could walk by and did hearing his filthy mouth and his disrespect. The only reason I took my daughters boyfriend there was. Because it was a Sunday and he was off because he works full time and that day worked for both of us. I and my family normally go to Electric City for everything and will continue to go there. So much for convenience but it was season learned. I would not go there for anything again very unprofessional in every way shape and form. read more

DO NOT GET A PIERCING HERE. I got my belly button pierced here a little over a year ago. Within the first six months of getting it done i made multiple visits to see him to make sure it was healing correctly. As the six months passed more of the bar piece of the jewelry began to stick out, to the point where very little was actually in the hole. He then told me my piercing was "shrinking" and switched the bar to a smaller size. As my piercing was "shrinking" i noticed a purple scar above where the top of the jewelry was and that it seemed to get bigger as time went on. I made stops at the shop in april and june to have him look at it, and he said it looked just fine. Three days ago, my piercing turned very red. The next day, it looked as if the the jewelry was coming out of my stomach. I then consulted a doctor and figured out that my body was rejecting the piercing. The problem with the piercer is that he should have recognized it a long time ago, as the signs were there!! I visited him and when showing him it, he said that i should have taken it out a long time ago, when for months prior to this he was telling me it looked normal!! I DO NOT recommend getting a piercing here. He was unable to offer me any explanation on why he didnt tell me this earlier. Wishing he would have so that i would have a tiny scar vs the scar the size of a dime i now have. read more

They wanted me to pay the tattoo minimum for a touchup because it was over 6 months after I got it. The artist neglected to tell me that there was a time limit before the touchup was no longer free. They didn't even ask what was needed before they told me that I'd be paying almost as much as the entire tattoo just for one small letter h. It is a nice tattoo, but other shops would be willing to do the touchup for free or very cheap. read more

Do not plan on going to this parlor unless you make six figures a year, because they charge $125 an hour. They quoted me $1000 for a 4x6 tattoo, and I didn't even get to talk to the artist I chose to do my piece nor see what had been drawn up for me from the visual references I had brought to the studio to draw from. They require you to give a $50 dollar deposit, which I understand, but if you need to cancel your appointment for whatever reason you lose your money entirely. There are other awesome shops in the valley and I would recommend going to them instead of this highly overpriced place. read more

I came here for my second tattoo, but it was my first time checking out the shop. Walking in it was very clean and inviting and they were able to fit my appointment in within the very next week. My tattoo was done by Johnnie, and it has amazing and clean line work. He was very professional but didn't talk a lot so it just would have been nice to get an update on how it was coming out every so often. Ok, so I called a month ago and asked if they pierced children. A regular lobe piercing. I didn't want it done with a piercing gun they are super unsanitary. So my husband and I brought our daughter in yesterday, she's 4. We were told it would cost $100, which I was willing to pay because our daughter is hard of hearing and I wanted the least risk of infection and someone who is trained highly in this field. Everything was going well till after the first piercing, she of course being a typical 4 year old, started crying. The piercer had a line of several people waiting. He excused himself to speak with his next customer and said to the man," I'll be w/ u soon ,if not it's going to get a lot more expensive in their." Implying that he was going to charge more because a 4 year old was taking a while to do. Needless to say he did apologize and we agreed to come back and have the other ear done on a later date. We paid $90 and left. Today I returned, the front desk proceeded to tell me that we needed an appointment because of her age. I said, " I was just here yesterday." She said, " she is the reason that younger people need appointments. " The piercer than came out and said he would take her. Needless to say she did not cooperate so we left. So here is the thing, you can be wonderful at your craft but if your customer service is awful, once from the piercer and once from the front desk it just makes the business mediocre or less. I have been a hairstylist for over 22 years and have never treated any customer, no matter how difficult , as poorly as we were treated. Children should not be taken here if they are not capable if dealing w/ them. So, I will rack it up to a learning experience, take a loss on my $90 and when she is older , much older, take my business somewhere else where customer service as well as expert work is what is offered. read more
