    Our cute little room
    William L.

This is my second time here in three weeks. It SHOULD be my last, and am glad for two reasons. First is that my dear mother will no longer be living in this town (I'm moving her to assisted living much closer to me), and second...I'm still not a fan of this spot to begin with. I give it THREE stars this go round because I have a suite this time rather than a room. It's bigger, less plain and I also had a more gracious check in experience. Girl behind the desk was equally as efficient but also took a little more time to explain amenities and features. This last bit was thoughtful. In her narrative, she included part about putting room key in slot next to the door to activate lighting in the kitchen and dining areas. Also, since we were on 2nd floor this time, there was better water pressure for the shower. Our suite had a regular tub instead of a standalone shower; curtain and liner kept water from going all over creation. Still, however, extremely chintzy with bath amenities. One lousy, small bar of harsh soap, and two tiny vials of shampoo and conditioner (one of each). C'mon Marriott; get with the program! Why don't you have big bottles of liquid body wash, shampoo and conditioner on the wall in there? Other less than stellar thing about this place remains breakfast. Last time I thought it was lacking. This time it outright STUNK! Still only two hot items...One was Canadian turkey bacon; other was a prefab breakfast sandwich. The latter was a low quality English muffin holing one slice of said breakfast meat with a small slice of cheese and a little egg disc. Not an egg puck: a slender little disc of egg product. Queen Bee made do with Cheerios, OJ and coffee. I had my coffee, OJ and some baconoid. Should the following appears blustery, then I should apologize right now. Having done that, I am totally AGHAST that the management here has/have the NERVE to charge me $180 for a room, then offer their so-called free breakfast as an amenity. It's an abysmal aberration!!!! These people using the Marriott name fall way short of meeting what at least ONCE was the gold standard in the hospitality industry. Yes, it's an industry...does that mean I default to industrial grade breakfast??? JW himself, I believe, would roll over in his grave if he were aware of the subpar slop served so lazily to lethargic lodgers expecting better bounty from the Marriott minions. BLECH!!!!!!!!

Huge cockroach in the hotel room's kitchen
    M Q.

We arrived at this hotel on 1/13/23 evening and upon getting into bed on our 3rd floor room, we saw a huge cockroach crawling on the kitchen counter. We took photos and killed it. After calling the front desk, they asked my family to come down with our belongings to give us a new room. We were then sent to the 4th floor and after trying to use the new room key a few times, we heard a man in the room yell, "wrong room!" We went back to the front desk where they apologized for giving us an occupied room. We then went back up to the 4th floor to our new room. Turning down the sheets, there was a cockroach crawling on a PILLOW!! We took videos and photos of this too. When we called the front desk yet again, they said we could cancel our reservation (we couldn't - we were with another Marriott member who was already asleep on the 1st floor and who had driven us, AND it was past midnight by then!), or we could get a 30% discount. I took the discount. They said that was the most they could give me. We did not open our bags and left them in the car because we were so worried about bringing any cockroaches home with us. It was a terrible night of fitful sleep. Took showers in the morning and made sure to shake off any clothes we had with us and rushed out early in the morning. Needless to say, I was disgusted by this hotel, and their lack of truthfulness (telling me after the first room with a cockroach that they have never had a problem with the bugs). I've never stayed at a Marriott (or any other hotel!) that had this problem.

The lamp shades were all stained, the chair at the desk was completely torn, the lamps were rusted the windows and draperies were filthy. The toilet seat was not attached properly. The shower was not cleaned and falling apart. The carpeting throughout the room was stained and smelled of cigarette smoke. Also , as we walked down the hall , there were people smoking in their rooms and the fumes were quite pungent. I have attached a few pictures of the room for you. When walking to my car, there were homeless people standing right in front of the hotel, right by the front desk, and nobody from the front desk asked them to leave. This occurred both nights that we stayed. There were also cigarette butts all over the property. The day that we were to check out there was a knock at my door at nine thirty telling us that it's time to leave. We told the gentleman that we were packing up and getting ready to go. I left the room shortly after to get a cup of coffee and my key did not work upon returning to my room. I thought that my stay did not end until 11 o'clock a.m. But, to make matters even worse again at 1045 a.m. as though I was in a prison camp, I get another knock at the door demanding that I leave my room and that my stay was complete, this time I was not as receptive. After I packed up my car, I went to the front desk asking to speak to the manager where I was told that he would not be in until Monday the following day. That is when he handed me this little piece of paper with this information that I am writing to you. I explained to him everything that I'm explaining to you and he had little if any interest in any of my concerns whatsoever. I am a travel agent and my family has owned and operated a travel agency for over fifty years in Miami Beach , Florida , and in all of my years traveling , I have never encountered a property as disgusting and repulsive as yours. You can be sure that I will spread the news about my trip to all of my friends , family and business acquaintances about my experience at your resort.

He charged me $15 to check in early although my room was ready and he didn't explain anything like pool hours, breakfast etc. I even tried to lighten the encounter because it was so quiet and awkward I said, "I last stayed here in August and remember you checking me in, how are you"? he looked at me like I had 3 heads and said "Ohh". Then went silent again. He handed me my keys and that was all out of him. I then had to ask pool hours, laundry room level, breakfast time and when is checkout etc. I'm a Guest Service Supervisor in Las Vegas and would have pulled this front desk clerk aside if I overheard this encounter. There were 2 other employees in the area just looking at us but didn't say anything. Then to top it off my room was so gross and skeevy. There were black hairs on my white comforter, stains on the brown couch, hair on the shower walls and the shower pressure was so bad I noticed black mold on the ceiling in the shower and on the ceiling outside the bathroom door. I documented photos as well. Really gross! I went to bed feeling so grossed out and couldn't wait to leave this place. I usually stay at a Hilton by this Leesburg; Florida location didn't offer many options. I'm definitely never staying at this location ever again. Yuck!!!!

I say that because it was not dirty, but on stepping into our room we were greeted with a strong musty odor that assaulted my allergies. I called the front desk and they quickly switched us to another room. The new one had a dehumidifier running. The towels were like cardboard, the shower water got nice and hot, and the complimentary breakfast was enough (waffles, scrambled and hard-boiled eggs, bacon, bread, mini muffins, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, apple and orange juice, dry cereals, and grits). We booked online for $159 for a Saturday night. I saw the rate $11 cheaper a few days before our trip. But couldn't change the reservation. When we checked out, we got charged the lower rate. But we already had been billed for the higher rate. So, I will have to dispute the charges with the credit card company. Would we stay here again? Yes, probably. It's not worth the price but I guess we are paying for the location.

We used 15,000 hard earned Wyndham Rewards points for this one night stay. What a waste of points that was!! This hotel should be rated half a star. If I were paying cash, it would not be worth more than $35 per night. There were so many issues with this hotel that there isn't enough time, or space, to list them all. It is obvious that the Wyndham corporation does not inspect their properties. They should be ashamed to have their name associated with this piece of junk. It has made me question them as a corporation after this experience. As a travel agent, I will never recommend any Wyndham property to my clients. Overall, the property is run down and filthy. The lobby was our first impression and we both walked away with a sinking feeling after checking in. The paint and wall coverings were peeling. The floor was dirty. The lobby was old and worn with a dingy appearance. There was a nearly empty vending machine and a worn out couch near the check in desk. Sadly, it was downhill after that. We got into a rickety elevator to the third floor. As we walked down the hall to our room, the carpet was dirty and worn, and had a bad odor. The hallway walls were scuffed and in need of a new painting. There was another empty vending machine by the elevator. Our room was disgusting. When we opened the door, a horrendous odor wafted through the air. The smell never went away, it was noxious. We both felt nauseous, but it was late at night and there was nowhere else to go. The bathroom was dirty. I doubt it was cleaned as there were long, dark hairs in the shower. The walls had peeling paint and scuff marks. The mattress was worn out and lumpy. The phone charging station next to the bed did not work. I would recommend avoiding this hotel, as well as any of the Wyndham brand hotels, as it is clear that they do not inspect their properties.

Honestly the only reason I stayed here was because this is all there was and I had been driving for more than 12 hours. I should have followed my instincts when I pulled in the parking lot and there were guys drinking liquor out of bags sitting on the ground and groups of shady characters smoking marijuana. There was no where else for me to go. It was late and it was dark and I needed a safe place to stay. This was not it. After checking in (the girl at the desk was pleasant) I headed to my room. First off things are not well lit and it is not clear where the stairs are, at least not at night. Once I drove around the building twice I headed to my room. Once inside I pulled a heavy desk in front of the door. I relaxed (the bed was comfortable)and went to sleep a bit late. At 3:57am there was a loud banging on my door. I sat up thinking that i was dreaming. I picked up the room phone (which was sticky) to see if maybe the hotel sent someone up. The phone did not work. Then there was more pounding. I got up and looked out and there were two men 25ish who immediately apologized. I did believe it was an honest mistake but still felt I should notify the front desk. I used my personal phone to call multiple times and received no answer. About 30 minutes later as I was relaxed enough to go back to sleep it happened AGAIN! I looked out the curtain to see another man, much larger and a bit older. He also apologized. Again I tried several times to call the front desk with no answer. Not having a clue what was happening and no one to contact to ensure I was safe I had to call the police. Because I couldn't reach anyone at the desk I wanted to get out of that sketchy place! They did send 3 officers to walk me to my car at 5am. I continued to call and someone finally answered at 6:04am. It was obvious they were asleep. I was told she would contact a manager after 9am. My guess is the manger was right there asleep in the bed! Anyway no one ever called me but I did call them. I was told that they had reviewed the security tapes and saw all I had said. The answer was that them men knocking on the door were energy workers who where doing repairs after the storm. I believe that. What is really bothersome though is that there is supposed to be someone at the desk 24/7. No one was there! That along with a phone that did not work is unacceptable. Choice hotels really needs to decide if this is the type of place their brand represents. This whole stay had the potential to go very wrong! I feel like I am piling on but also don't expect a "clean" room, not if you know what clean is. There is crud all along the edges of the carpet and around the base of the bed and the headboards. I had made a decision as soon as I went into the bathroom that would not be showering. The bath towels are stiff and grayish white. There were two 1/2 bottles of hotel shampoo in the counter and no soap. Edited to add: I told my mother that I would have felt safer in a dark back corner of a truck stop parking lot with all my car doors unlocked!!!! No offense to any truckers out there!
