We started things off with the fried green tomatoes--a true Southern delicacy and, let's be honest, acid reflux's favorite dance partner. Worth it? Absolutely. These were hot, crispy, and full of flavor. The kind of dish that would make Grandma nod in approval. No shortcuts, just done right. For the entrée, I went with the UBK Pasta--blackened chicken, sausage, and shrimp tossed with corkscrew pasta probably crafted in a cast iron skillet. Urban Bar & Kitchen continues to deliver where it matters most--on the plate. The meat was super dry and it was pulled so much as to be quite small and stringy. I find smoked chicken to be better when slightly larger chunks are part of the pulling process. Similarly, there was at least three instances of gristle so intense I had to spit it into my napkin. No offense to the pit master, but I think whoever was smoking this needed to take it off earlier and whoever was pulling it needed to check for inedible parts a bit more. None of this was enough to stop me from coming back for a second try at some point in the future. I will look to something else on the menu and update my review then.
