I called the office in December to make an appointment in January, I asked specifically if they were in network and was told yes. They charged the insurance, they get paid $4000 for 2 filling and removal of one crown and make a replacement. I got a root canal I had to pay for $2000 out of pocket and now a week later no call on the crown installation. I have to call for that. read more

The staff here is like rly and patient. They are busy for sure but once you get into the chair they take their time and walk you through what is happening and why. The dentist that was scheduled to handle my extraction had some valid medical concerns and we decided to delay treatment because of them .. Beware! I have been going to Towncare for years. They were recently purchased by another company but kept same name. These were the changes they made and the reason why. Before you could have your cleaning and check up done on the same appointment. Now you got to have 2 appts for each service. The reason behind this change is so they can make money. I've never had any issues and I been seen by the same dentist who left after Towncare was purchase by the other company. The hygienist who I've know for years told me she had to upswell because she had to meet a sales quote each month. Something she din't have to do before. I meet with the Asian Dr here at homestead. He says I need to replace a filling. I always had my 6 month appointments regularly, I floss, use brush twice using Sonic care and I've never ever had to pay or do extra things. The dr asks me how many times do you brush? I said twice he answers me back and says you need to brush 3 X. The American Dental Association recommends brushing your teeth twice a day! Lia, liar!!!! A month later i show up for my scheduled cleaning that is covered by my insurance. They tell me the appointment was for the filling not the cleaning and that they cannot do my cleaning because there's no hygienist available. I must wait another month. I refuse to replace my filling. A month later, I come in for the cleaning this time the hygienist tells me she has to do a deep cleaning because I went past my six months! Now I have to pay $125 because she has to put an antibiotic. See where this is going! Money, money, and more money! So I switched, new dentist tells me your filling doesn't need to be replaced and that my teeth look great! Glad I switched to a more honest dentist who's not going to rip me off! I am terrified of dentists. TERRIFIED. But they were very understanding of my fears, very patient, and made sure I was as comfortable as possible for my root canal and deep cleaning. I had a great dentist, however I was asked to pay upfront for a deep cleaning of which they had to put antibiotics for each tooth when finished my bill was extremely high. I paid as they cleaned my teeth. Each time with the appointment at first there was one set of x-rays. Then on the next appointment they had to do another I asked why did I not just do an x-ray again? This went on for just Money, Money. Then I got my Insurance and now I see that they are paying my insurance and also myself where I paid upfront for the procedures. I went again and did my replacement of my broken tooth and two fillings. I spoke to the manager that day and she assured me that yes she would send me a credit for what my insurance has done. This started in May I have not been re imbrued to this day It is the end of June I have been calling to see what would be done concerning my Credit. Nothing in fact she told me the check is in the mail. This is not what I expected with this company. Very unprofessional. No one would call back to assist me concerning the matter. I've gone here a couple times and they always get me for the antibiotics and other stuff. I end up spending a lot more for a cleaning. You think I learn the first time, second time and third time. My fiancé also came here and something similar happened. I feel like the tech gets some commission on these antibiotics. I am absolutely disgusted with this office. After arriving for my appointment the door indicates to knock and wait so my temperature can be taken and escorted into the office. I continue to wait outside the door for the next 20 minutes. Frustrated but trying to be patient as they look like they are busy. I finally enter the office to be told they had been waving to me to come in. (Apparently no one could be bothered to get me, as the sign indicated) I proceeded to sit down and wait until I was called. After 5 to 10 minutes I was then told that I would not be seen because I was standing outside the office and not inside the office when the dental hygienist came to get me. I am beyond upset with this office and the waste of my time and blatant disregard for other people. Do not get me started on the $10 "PPE charge" they apply to EVERY patient. Thought I should make everyone aware of a situation I just went through. I have been going to Towncare Dental for quite some time. I needed to have work done and they gave me an estimate of $170 - I have good insurance. I spoke to the treatment coordinator told her that I needed to have nitrous oxide so they told me it would be an additional $150 which I agreed to. I booked a 2 hour appointment to have the work done and took the afternoon off from work because my appointment was at 1pm. I arrived at 12:55 and waited for over half an hour before I asked if the dentist knew I was there. The the treatment coordinator came out and told me that it would be $550. When I asked why I was told because what my insurance pays for had changed. I told her that I had only gotten my insurance in August and it was the same insurance that I had when she gave me the initial estimate. She said she had no control over it. I promptly called my insurance company and gave the representative the codes for the work I was having done from the initial estimate. Turns out the work was covered a 100% as they are a contracted dentist. In addition they pay 75% of the contracted rate for nitrous oxide. Then when I asked to speak to the treatment coordinator, I was told she was busy. The office manager refused to speak to my dental insurance representative and then told me the dentist could no longer take me as it was now 1:45pm and he had another patient. Towncare Dental are thieves, i will not be going back and intend to have my insurance company let me know how much I should have paid for the work I had before. Horrible experience and never got to see a dentist. Completely unaccommodating to new patients. Online appointment reservations and registration does not work. Made a reservation and it was changed to the following day as well as filled out the entire registration questionnaire only for it not to save in the system. I was handed a clipboard with a bunch of papers as if it were 1985! Office manager clearly didn't want to be working that day and wasn't very well caring. Decent place with nice staff. Be prepared to wait. Also, be careful about receiving services that may not be needed. I was told that I needed several services that insurance didn't cover. After paying well over $1,000 over the course of several visits, I moved to a different city. I thought I would need to continue these services. The new dentist stated that there was nothing needed but a general cleaning. After sharing my history of receiving prior services that were expensive, she pulled my X-rays and showed them to me, going over them thoroughly until I was convinced all is well. **UPDATED** I left a negative review 3 days ago questioning the Dr's diagnosis of so many cavities (see below). The next business day I received a call from Ritzi. She was concerned with my Yelp review. There is no way they could have known that this review was left by me, Lucy H******, since my last appt in their office was in 2012. I asked Ritzi where she saw my review. She confirmed Yelp. I asked her how she got my phone number, she said they looked in my chart. I asked and she confirmed that she searched "Lucy" in the first name and "H" in the last name and searched for the person that matched in their computer system. Towncare is now hunting down reviewers and calling them based on who they think is the correct patient. The worst part about this, they don't see anything wrong with their actions. Neither Ritzi nor her supervisor (with whom I also spoke) are clinicians and both told me they reviewed my chart with the DDS. They tell me he stands by his diagnosis. Great. However, I stand by my review. I'll add one positive note: my DDS has a good "chair-side" manner. Previous Review: I was told I had 9 cavities that needed to be filled. I have since moved and my new dental office says I need 3. Wtf, Towncare. I think you're due for an audit. read more

This place reminds me of a soup kitchen...Several doctors on staff serving the lovely ratchet masses of people in homestead. Avoid...I originally had to come here from my regular dentist in Key Largo to get my remaining wisdom teeth pulled. After I got them pulled I thought I would just make this place my regular dentist & drive from Key Largo every six months for regular cleaning/check ups. Here's how it went... I was 20 mins early for my appt, thought maybe it would help them out. My appt time came & went. I sat in the waiting room for nearly 45 mins before finally getting called back. They ask me if I've been having any problems. Even though I have been having sensitivity on 1 of my back teeth I tell them no. I figure that if there's anything really wrong then they will find it. But they tell me I'm good to go. Lady takes X-rays, doc comes in & looks in my mouth for about 30 secs & says I'm good to go...wtf. I ask the lady if I'm going to get a cleaning & she replies oh those are usually scheduled separately. In my 25 years of going to the dentist an appt every 6 months means a cleaning & examination for cavities...Not just a 30 sec glance in your mouth. I was so furious & mad about the visit that I wanted to get home so quickly I got a speeding ticket. So then I have to schedule another appointment & wait a month to get a cleaning which was what I thought the 6 month "check up" included. Couple weeks later I call up my old dentist in key largo that I haven't seen in over a year to get a cleaning. I go to my old dentist & they actually took pictures & showed me 3 problem areas on my teeth where old fillings had chipped or worn away...now I will go write them their 5 star review & never ever try to wander away again. read more

The reviews that say this office is all about their money is TRUE! Don't book any appointments at this office. They add-on procedures to your treatment plan to increase revenue of which are not covered by your insurance. Their treatment plans are not patient friendly at all-- you can barely read/understand them and the lady that explains them is super vague. She told me my cleaning would be $74.20. When I got the checkout counter, I was told I have to pay $141... half of my initial amount! Turns out they added more codes than just my cleaning, plus my deductible. Of course I was expecting to pay my deductible, but the additional codes were a surprise to me. To top things off-- As I was looking at my bill I noticed that they sneakily changed my cleaning type, having me pay more out-of-pocket. This place is a complete SCAM!!! Had the hygienist told me about all these additional add-ons, I would've said no and went to another office because when I walked in, I specifically told her I was only there for the cleaning and I didn't not want to pay for anything additional. I ended up paying the $141 because after going back and forth with the clueless employee that was checking me out, I got frustrated, paid and left. It was when I got home that I notice the code AND price for my cleaning had changed compared to what was on my treatment plan and NO ONE said anything to me about it!!!! No transparency with patients!!! Save yourself the headache! In addition to all this.... you have to pay a $10 "PPE" fee because of COVID. Mind you... dentist/hygienist wore PPE prior to COVID so I don't see why they are making us pay $10!!! And again, they didn't tell me about the PPE fee when I was making my appointment over the phone. I learned about it when I got to my appointment. read more

This place is a one stop shop for your teeth. Not only do they have Dentist's and hygenists, they even have orthodontists and a couple surgeons on hand if you need your wisdom teeth out or any other surgical procedure. Everyone has been very nice and courteous I just wish they would do a better job keeping you on schedule. Sometimes you have to wait quite a long time for your appointment. But I have to say so far so good. I will be getting my teeth whitened pretty soon and will adjust my review based on the job they do. read more

Stay away! This place only cares about taking your money. Deceitful and unethical! Staff does not inform patients of additional cost for services they're providing to then hit you with a surprise inflated bill at the end of the visit. A maintenance cleaning that should've cost me around 100 was brought up to almost 300 because the hygienist thought it was ok to administer 4 antibiotics ($40.00 each) without disclosing the additional cost it would be. She blamed the fact that It was my responsibility to ask..mind you, she sneakily mentioned the antibiotics as she had her hand and equipment in my mouth in the middle of the cleaning. No transparency what so ever. That's just the beginning. It was brought to my attention by my insurance that they had charged me for a cavity gloss ( which I did not request!) when it was 100% covered by my insurance..TWICE! Gets better...my wife was quoted a price for her wisdom tooth removal to only learn by our insurance company that they had once again up-coded (marked up price) for their services. Had a toothache and made an appointment for the next week yet the pain got worse and they were able to see me right away the next morning. Turned out to be an abscess. The first Dr I saw was very nice and started me on antibiotics and something for pain. That same afternoon I saw the oral surgeon and he was just as nice and calming. I was petrified of having to be sedated ( don't like going under) but everything went so smoothly and so fast. Had to get the tooth removed but woke up with no pain and feeling so much better. We dealt with 2 different dentists since it's both my husband and I plus our 10 year old that gets seen there. Very unprofessional "business" that puts money over client care I found this place after moving to Homestead. I was experiencing pain and needed an appointment before my insurance lapsed on 9/30/15. Another local dentist canceled my appointment the day of so I called this place. They could not get me in until 10/1/15, the day after my insurance lapsed but assured me they have plans to accommodate the uninsured and that the initial evaluation is only $39. I went in, pretty & clean office but long wait and not so friendly staff. They did the X-rays and evaluation and sent me directly to the finance person who quoted me a huge bill for the services they recommended (root canal and crown, $1400 with the "25% discount") I went home, registered in a dental plan that had them as one of two local options for primary dentist, called back to update my insurance info (which she confirmed they accepted) and schedule the procedure. This was on 10/6/15; they told me 12/15/15 was the soonest they could schedule the root canal. I was shocked and disappointed but figured if that was the soonest I'd take it. She even recommended taking ibuprofen in the meantime for pain management. On 12/15/15, I showed up ready for my procedure, only to be told they did not have my insurance information, which I was able to call their bluff on and provide. They apologized for the mix up and sent me back to wait, only to call me back up to tell me they do not accept that insurance. Once again, I explained that they are listed as my primary dentist and had confirmed they accepted this 2 months ago. That's when they tell me that the primary dentist accepts this BUT the in-house specialist does not.... Wow so you all deal with dental procedures, billing, insurance, etc EVERY DAY, have a finance person in office (actually 2!) and could not have clarified this at some point during my 2 1/2 month wait?? They knew what procedures I needed, they knew my insurance situation, and yet no one ever mentioned "oh by the way, even though it's the same office, this appointment will be with the specialist so call and make sure your insurance covers this prior to your appointment." It's a well-known insurance plan so they really should have been familiar with it anyways as I highly doubt I'm the first person to have it and need to see the specialist. There is one nice lady at the front desk area who did extend herself and try to help out and offered that I could still see the specialist for $69. She also offered some suggestions for establishing a payment plan, though she clearly ASSUMED that I am having some hardship, when in actuality I have a Masters degree and work in the healthcare field for a small company which does not offer dental benefits. I payed, saw him for all of 5 minutes, for him to tell me the exact thing I'd been told 2 1/2 months before: looks like you need a root canal.... Uhhhh duh! At this point, I was beyond furious. I explained the situation to him, he said that while its routine for him to do his own evaluation prior to scheduling the procedure, it was ridiculous they had me wait so long for an appointment as they have openings every day, especially for a short evaluation. He assured me they could get me in within the week for the actual procedure. (Yeah now that you know I'll be having to pay that huge bill, make it convenient for me, thanks!) Needless to say, I will be taking my business elsewhere and will go through my insurance to find a specialist who covers this procedure. Moral of this long story is unless you are insured with good dental insurance (and triple check that with their office before wasting time on an appointment) stay away from this place and their false claims to care about their clients: they are all about money! (I also witnessed them turn away a client who had a referral for them in hand from their general dentistry office "next door" because they did not accept her type of Medicaid, which they discussed with no concern for her confidentiality as I could clearly hear this from across the waiting room. So please TownCare Dental, please invest in some training in HIPAA, ethics, client care training so that you may uphold the Hippocratic oath your doctors are sworn to and provide actual care for your clients, even if that is by referring them elsewhere (not to your partner next door) so they may get the treatment they need without falling for your money making schemes!) read more

LIARS & THEIVES !! Do yourself a favor and go someplace else! I just needed two wisdom teeth pulled. They could never give me a straight answer about the costs. Finally, after they verified my insurance, they explained I would have to pay a $204 co-pay. I paid the $204 on the spot. 6 MONTHS LATER, I get a bill saying I owed another $300, after they hit up my insurance. I felt they were deceitful as far as the costs. Dr. Poner, the specialist, assured me I could still use the crown he made a hole in after my root canal got infected. He did the reconstructive root canal and I go back to Dr. Ruiz who claims I need an expensive new crown. When I told him what Dr. Posner said he half listened and left the room. Some lady came to tell me my copay would be close to $800 and to schedule when I wanted and I could leave. I told her I want the permanent filling and glue because Posner only put temporary glue on it. She had to get Ruiz to do it and I waited forever. If I didn't ask, they would have sent me home with a temporary filling. I agree with the reviews. They only want your money. The other painful thing that happened to me is that when Posner did the root canal he had my mouth open too wide and I got a muscle pulled on the right side of my jaw. It's been weeks and it still hurts when I open my mouth to speak or eat. I get a painful cramp and it really sucks. Dumb doctor. Ugh. read more

Those working on your teeth make no attempt to hide their disdain for you and I have had several women be downright rude to me. The doctor I see - I assume he is Ruiz, though he did not introduce himself - was also rude. The women flirt with the doctor in front of you and ignore you. During my most recent visit last month I arrived before my appointment time and waited for almost an hour before the doctor could see me. I will most definitely be taking my business elsewhere. If you must go here, try to get an appointment with Gina for your cleaning. She is the best there is and I will be sad to no longer see her. I had the best cleaning and filling experience! That sounds silly but it's true. The doctor was so patient with my concerns. He recommended removing and refilling an old filling that on the x-ray showed cavities underneath. I was hesitant because I hadn't had any pain but since my insurance covered I went ahead with it and I'm so glad I did. The cavity was bigger than expected and growing. He saved me from having a root-canal! I felt no pain and the recovery time was really quick. I'm so grateful and trust them completely. The least I could do is write a great review. They are a big Fraud!! This is one of the worst places you can go to. They told me I need a deep cleaning and they gave me an initial quote but after the cleaning they wanted to charge me more due to the used of antibiotics. After 3 months I was supposed to go back and do a $120 follow up, no cover by insurance and apply more antibiotics to spend a lot more money. The cleaning only took 45 minutes, when other doctors normally take two 1 hour sessions to do the deep cleaning. After a month my gums where still bleeding, so I went to a another dentist to ask. After the examination the dentist was confused as I was still with stones in my gums which after a month of a deep cleaning is unusual, and was also surprised in the used of antibiotics as under my not sever condition was unnecessary. This is fraud, they charged for a procedure that was never conduct, and they overcharges by the unnecessary used of antibiotics. DON'T GO to this places of thief's, they don't care about your health and have zero customer service!!! read more
