He was kind and explained everything to me. You can watch Netflix, Hulu, etc while waiting. You have your own dedicated TV. Dr. Villena saw me and put together a good plan for needed dental work. They have special technology to visualize bacteria attacking the teeth; the tech shows tooth health at each layer. Deering Dental is superior to a typical dental office. Very impressed. Flexible pricing with a discount for paying up front, in full. At the end, they gave me a welcome package. I needed to expedite my dental plan due to a filling from a (good) prior dentist coming out recently. I came in on June 9th for an evaluation. Velma--another hygienist--was thorough and nice. She and Dr. Pinto explained the urgency of my situation. They gave me specialized products to get my oral health back on track. Today, Dr. Pinto and Velma saved my wisdom tooth. His staff, on the other hand, is rife with unprofessional behavior. On my first visit, I waited 55 minutes just to be taken to the back. There was no effort to communicate a reason or extend an apology for the delay. There was only one other person in the waiting area, and he was there before me and was taken back only 10 or so minutes before I was. Upon being invited back, there was no thought as to directing me precisely where to go, as if I were supposed to know already which room was assigned to me. It took 45 minutes to do the X-rays. I have captive bead earrings, and the flummoxed the technicians for 40 minutes. I am incredulous that they have never had anyone with these essentially non-removable (casually, that is) earrings. I had to wait another 40 or so minutes before the dentist came to examine my mouth and X-rays and the hygienist to clean my teeth. All the while, I could hear technicians and hygienists gossiping in Spanish. (I know that it is a fact of life that people speak Spanish in public, but I still think it is unprofessional since they did not confine the Spanish only to their gossip but also to their discussions amongst themselves regarding my care. I'm an obligate Anglo-phone, and thus they as a result robbed me of full informed consent.) If their scheduling was realistic according to their ability to care for patients and if the technicians were more professional, I would be happy. As it is, they leave a lot to be desired.
