Oh how the mighty fall. I remember when this was the place to shop. Nowadays, like in many communities across the country, malls built in the 80's are dying. It seems that most of Owensboro's economy is moving out to highway 54. Even some of the other business on south Frederica are closing. This mall hasn't closed yet, but this past summer, a news story came out about how the bank was going to foreclose on the owners as they were behind on payments. The mall is shaped like an "X" with different anchor stores on the ends. Well, a few anchor stores. The Sears closed down & moved out about a year ago. They've got a Macy's & JC Penny as the anchors. The Macy's home goods store closed down & Burkes Outlet took its place. They had a Ruby Tuesday's which also has an outside entrance which closed down a few years ago & became a "Show-Me's" which can be best described as a low rent Hooter's. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the deadest a mall can be, I'd say this is a 6. They've still got a bunch of name brand stores, but also many empty storefronts & off brand stores like "Hi Tech Accessories". I'd heard this place had went downhill, but I was surprised how so when I came to look around about 8 years after the last time I was here. Poor. Nothing there at all. No shopping. Mostly people using it for indoor exercise, which was good

Oh Towne Square Mall, you make me sad. I remember when you were the center of the Owensboro shopping scene and it was kind of special to shop at The Mall. It appears you are suffering the fate of many malls before you and are in decline. You don't look quite so stylish anymore. You even smell funny. Age (and a slow economy) catches up with all of us. Nevertheless, I am pleased to see that you are *not* mostly empty space. Your anchors remain -- JCP, Sears, Macy's -- though they are not what they used to be either. Other steadfast retailers: Roger's Jewelers, Kirklands, GNC, Hallmark, Claire's. It appears Aeropostale and American Eagle Outfitters are going strong. I'd bet Gamestop is too. Gone are Macy's home store, Noble Romans Pizza, and countless other apparel stores I remember. Towne Square, I cannot recommend you as THE place to shop anymore. Owensboro has changed and you have a lot more competition both in town and out of town. I hope your time will come again. read more

I feel really bad talking about the mall I grew up with, but it's just falling apart. Like stated in other reviews, this place used to be really booming. There are a bunch of empty spaces where our favorite stores used to be, which is very depressing. GameStop is down, so is FIY, and more that used to keep this junky building running. The only things that are good here are Macy's and JCPenny. I'm pretty sure that the JC Penny is going to shutting down soon. My friend and I have placed bets on how much longer it's going to last. There's barely anyone there and the clothes racks are basically empty. Give it 10 years, the entire building is going to be shut down. Who cares, we have the internet, I suppose. The only people you see around anymore is oldsters jogging around for exercise and rude preteens who cuss you out if you accidentally bump into them. read more

For Owensboro to be a pretty big place, our mall is terrible. There is absolutely nothing there to draw me in. I honestly cannot remember the last time I went inside the mall, much less the last time I actually purchased anything from any of the very few stores still open there. I may stop into Burke's once a year to see if I can find anything worth buying. I do purchase things online from The Children's Place & Bath & Body Works, but I do this to avoid going into the mall. It has pretty much just become a place for a few teenagers to hang out or a few elderly people to walk through to get their exercise. I sincerely hope one day this place can get some more, better stores & a few good restaurants & become a good mall. There are numerous empty spots in this mall where stores have closed down. The parking lot is almost always empty, so I can tell there's not a lot drawing anyone into this mall. Anytime I want to go to a mall, I will go out of town to Evansville. read more

For being a city with a sizable population I'm surprised to see the mall in this condition. I've seen some pretty dilapidated malls, this has to be top 3. The anchor stores look very dated, everything looks dated for the most part, a few of the stores look out of place due to being renovated such as Bath and Body Works. This mall is pretty sad these days. Not many stores left that have been around a while. You have Journeys, Kirkland's, bath and body works, Spencer's, Macy's, Great American cookie, another shoe store, and a few more new additions. It is an okay place to walk around, but sadly there is not much to see or do. I miss the days when this mall had a chick fil a in it, I feel like it was booming back then. Maybe they should try that again, because people naturally flock to those. Owensboro becoming the city that it is, should definitely have a better mall! Hopefully they will step it up soon, as this could be way better for the people and the city. read more

This mall needs some TLC it's not bad and there are at least some recognizable national tenants but if they don't watch it they will be nothing more then a bunch of local stores in there and it means your mall is dead. Seen it happen to mall in Nashville don't want to see happen to our one and only local mall. read more

Stores are very small to be coming from a big city, occupancy of the mall is low, so quite a bit is vacant. Clean though.
