Got a call from attendant at hotel prior to our arrival. He noticed that we had requested high floor as our preference. He informed us that the elevator at the property was being serviced and that it will not be available upon our arrival. He asked if we still wanted high floor per our previous request. We were given the opportunity to change our request so we did not have to carry our luggages multiple flight of stairs. That was very considerate of him and praise him for providing guest great customer service! He also asked if we needed anything else prior to our arrival. We asked for extra pillows and towels. Upon our arrival, extra pillows and towels were already in the room when we arrived. Knowing our Marriott status, he also offered our choice of points or food in the market. Also provided us 2 bottles of water w energy bar. Thank you late night attendant for welcoming us upon our very late check in and making our rest day experience pleasant. read more

The rooms are small and cramped, and the air conditioning is too cold and noisy. The dishwasher sounds like a plane is taking off in the room, and the sofa's pull-out bed barely has room to be used. There was a broken hairdryer in the room that was promptly replaced by another broken hairdryer delivered by the front desk. There weren't enough pillows, and the television was as old as dirt, with poor reception. The walls were paper-thin, and we could hear everything going on next door and beyond. The rooms require an update, as they seem to have not been updated in a "decade or two". However, the front desk counterperson was pleasant, helpful, and eager to please. What impressed me more than anything was the call received before our arrival by a woman asking what we thought we might require upon arrival. All in all, it's the little things that count to me, and as long as I see an effort to please, I'm going to offer a fairly respectable review. read more

Fairly nice set up a bit outside of town. The floors are pretty thin, can hear people from upstairs pretty easy. Had a particularly noisy upstairs neighbor and I went to the office to ask if they could switch my rooms. Sal, the front desk worker, was straight with me and said there's a lot of kids throughout the hotel and that my next room may not be better, but that he'd go talk to the room above and I didn't hear a peep the rest of the night. Shout out to Sal for being super chill and awesome throughout my stay. read more

If you are a light sleeper, this hotel is close to the freeway and you will not want a room on the freeway side. I had booked a "Mountain View" room but got a freeway side room. Trucks traveling on the freeway were loud because of a roadway material change. read more

Great road trip hotel. Many of the conveniences of home. Very clean. A serviceable breakfast too. This is in the least sketchy part of Gallup, and you can choose from a few chain restaurants in the parking lot: Dennys, Dickey's BBQ, Subway. Or, you can do as we did and watch the sunset and the passing trains while enjoying a beverage and meal you bring in and prepare in your kitchen. We will return anytime we are in the area. read more

The absolute best hotel staff I've ever met. Heather, Ken, John, and so many other wonderful people took such great care of us during our 10 day stay. The rooms are clean and spacious, the gym is solid, the laundry room is nice, and it's all very pet friendly. The only ding is the breakfast is subpar, but that's a fault of Marriott corporate I'm guessing, since their cook and team want to add more options. But again, what makes this hotel terrific is the staff. The manager Heather even has a project called Hez' Hounds to rescue and rehome stray and abandoned dogs in Gallups. So I was looking for a nice hotel but all 39 hotels in Gallup are essentially the same. This one and all the rest in the area are very, very, VERY pet friendly. The room is nice and clean, the beds seem slightly smaller than average for some reason. The service here is OK...the coffee sucks, the complimentary breakfast REALLY sucks. The OJ is basically watered down lemonade and the attendee was in no rush to change it out. The fitness area has the basics and is clean, ventilated and the remote control works. (No music channels though) all in all I probably would not stay here again but it wasn't horrible. 3 stars read more

What a pleasant surprise! After a long day of travel, we found I-40E closed in Grants so we had to find a room - ha! All hotels were booked. So an hour back West we found a vacancy here. Easy and fast check-in, grabbed a couple frozen dinners, and headed up to the [per-friendly] room. Wow! Fully stocked kitchen with and a fridge (not a dorm fridge!) I got to eat my tv dinner on a real plate, with a real fork, at a real table! Comfy bed, clean bathroom. Nice breakfast (waffles w blueberry and strawberry compote, cheese omlets, sausage, muffins, bagels, and English muffins, cereal, oatmeal, and tons of fixins for everything) Ready to start another day of driving East! read more

Fully stocked comp breakfast 6AM to 9AM each weekday. Extremely clean linens, floors, and kitchen. I stay here 2 nights per week. It is ez on, ez off from I-40. In the Summer during the high traffic season, I can still get a parking spot at this property, which is important for me conducting important work, out in the field. If you want quiet, stay in Window Rock or Chinle, away from I-40. read more

This is a roadside hotel. The best part was the welcoming staff. Salvador checked us in at 10 pm on a Friday night. He was so lovely! We were so tired yet managed to have a short chat with him. And he shared stories of his time living in our home state. The room was a drabby, stuffy suite. We didn't use the kitchenette. The room had a stuffy or odd unfresh smell. But it was fine for 12 hr stay. The breakfast with the waffles was fun for my son and I to make. I like those waffles most of my family doesn't. There's also lots of coffee, bananas, yogurt milk, concentrated juice station, sausage, oatmeal, and fried eggs. The young lady watching over the breakfast was kind when I asked for a few things that were out. The hotel rooms aren't fancy and beds aren't comfy. But it's just a passing through experience. The rooms aren't sound proof. You can hear cars zooming along the highway and the occupants on the floor above walking around. But it was a place to sleep, wash and eat a quick breakfast. Of note, my teen slept on the pull out couch. My husband helped him make it up and they discovered a half full bottle of Fireball cinnamon whisky in it. Yikes! We tossed it out. read more

Him: This city is in the middle of nowhere and for some reason has 4 Denny's... but that's besides the point. This place was a mask naxi's heaven. If you're afraid of "the virus", then you should feel safe here. I barely exited my room... the door hadn't even closed... we were at one end of the hallway. The hotel employee was down the hallway, across the lobby, and partially down the next hall and her eagle eye caught me being a little too jovial for her liking, so she yelled down the hall, screeching at me to wear my mask. We were the only 2 people there. The lobby was empty and the entire hallway was dead. Gotta be careful that the "no people there" were all safe. The hallways are narrow so you need to be careful if you load up the cart and try to maneuver into the room without hitting the opposite wall. We stayed inside the room most of the time because people were just plain weird there. Even the Walmart was weird. I don't know why I'm giving it 2 stars instead of one. I guess I feel sorry for these people who live their lives like this. read more

Set your expectations low... there are delightful people who work here, but there are a lot of things that don't happen. The rooms are moderately comfortable, expect a lot of noise in any room, due to the interstate being right next door. The pool has been shut down since at least November of 2022. The gym is adequate. The requests for extras or service of room is lacking. Don't expect rooms to be serviced in a timely fashion or with any requested intervals. The team seems to be overworked and understaffed. Do not expect Marriott quality service, as this is a franchised location, and sadly the quality of service does not match the brand quality. Expect to have to ask for what you want, and often times, don't expect to get the follow through. I've asked a couple of times to borrow their vacuum, so I can vacuum my own room, after the room had been serviced. That being said, the team individually are great! Breakfast hospitality has been good, the maintenance guy is great. They have had a lot of turnover in the past six to seven months, so they seem to be trying still to get their stuff together. There's heart with some there, but it's a team that struggles to embody the principles of Marriott hospitality. So coming here, set your expectations low, so as to not be disappointed. read more

Be aware the nightstands are not secure to the wall!!! The nightstand fell on my 10 month old who is 24 lbs. and is a crawler. She suffered a head injury. The nightstand I would estimate is over 200 lbs and landed right my baby little body and head. I notified management of the incident immediately and they did not care. I had to ask to for an incident report instead of them being proactive about it. The first question out of the hotel manager was "how was the tv"??? Ru kidding me?!?!? She was more concern about the tv. I said it was the nightstand that fell on the baby. She didn't ask how my baby was. If you have kids, toddlers or crawlers do not stay at this hotel because the furniture are not secure. The furniture are heavy and can easily tip over. read more

My #1 criteria for a hotel is how quiet it is. This place is right next to the freeway and situated such that there is no quiet side. Other than that, the place is fine. Very new with nice finishes. Small bathroom, compact room but nice seating area and desk. Kitchenette with fridge, microwave and dishes nice for a prolonged stay but a waste for one night. When all is said and done, you'll do just fine here but, I'll find a quieter place next time. read more

I stayed last night August 9th and used my Marriott Rewards Points and was upgraded to a one bedroom suite. I was told at checkin that I would be able to have a 4pm check out since I'm Titanium Elite and spend 200 plus nights a year in hotels. I was interrupted well on a Zoom call by housekeeping 3 times followed by a phone call from the front desk telling me I had to be out by 3pm. I told here that I had laundry in the washer and it wouldn't be done until after 3pm but the lady told me I had to be out so they could clean the room for new guest at 3pm. I also went to use the silverware and found it rusted together and stuck to the plastic tray. I showed it to the front desk person she said I'll have the manger call you and she never did. I will never stay here and will tell everyone who will listen what a horrible hotel this is. read more

It was awful. I was traveling with my wife and three kids (3 months, 2 years, and 6 years old) across the country and stayed here on 08.05.22. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night for ten minutes and woke everyone up. My kids were up for two hours and my six year old now prays to God every night that our house will not burn down. Our 8 hour drive the following morning was not fun to say the least. The front desk lady at the hotel said the alarm was coming from the laundry room and was a malfunction. The firemen on scene were there for five minutes to make sure nothing was wrong. Later, the GM would try and say that it was a guest smoking in their room. Either way, Marriott refused to take any responsibility for the problem. When i stay at a hotel I pay for safe and comfortable place to spend the night. I did not get either of these things. Unfortunately, Marriott corporate tried to twist this issue into something about me wanting to turn fire alarms off (which makes no sense). I simply want a refund for a night gone horribly wrong, either due to a faulty fire alarm or a shotty Marriott guest. Either way, Marriott needs to learn a thing or two about customer service. Me and mine will be not be staying with Marriott again, not that they care. read more

Exceeded all expectations. Not only are they pet friendly, we were able to take our large dog with us. Our room was equipped with a kitchen (and a dish washer!) and a massive combined closet/pantry. Place was clean and comfortable. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

Sorry but this failed the number one criteria for a hotel - me being able to sleep. Both my husband and I were barely able to get a couple hours of poor sleep. Gallup is a hellhole and I think all the hotels are equally as bad. You can hear both loud highway traffic noise and train noise ALL NIGHT LONG. The walls are paper thin and you can hear people walk by your room too. We were in a room right next to the breakfast area on the first floor and we could hear the front desk area all night too. Anyone talking out there like we were standing out there. Additionally, there were no bath towels in our room. The sheets were plastic-y and not very breathable. The window unit is very loud but still not loud enough to drown out the noise, just another thing to mess up your sleep. I think I'm about done with staying at Marriotts, they are all built like crap now, but the price keeps going up. Breakfast was okay, you get a decent variety of both cold and hot foods, but nothing too outstanding. Finding the hotel was slightly tricky if you're not approaching from the highway, as the signage is very subtle and it's a bit hidden behind other hotels and businesses. read more

Manager was nowhere to be found. Very unprofessional and disappointing after driving 14 hours. Give this place a hard pass. read more

This is a comfortable hotel with mini-suites that have a micro kitchen, medium fridge, small stove top, dishwasher, sink for the long stay needs and comfortable, clean beds. The breakfast is on par with other like hotels hot breakfast with the exception that they don't put large quantities out at once so you get fresh food when you want it. read more

Excellent customer service! Nice clean room, comfy bed, netflix ! (why don't all hotels have this? a real no brainer). I originally booked a room at Springhill Suites in Gallup but they were so awful at check-in I rebooked at TownePlace Suites- and was so happy with my stay here! Totally different owner/management: all Marriotts are not equal! This one TownePlace was great. Everything looks new and clean. Micro, fridge, stovetop and nice clean laundry room. We are traveling cross country (2mos) so I have been in A LOT of hotels recently. Unfortunately I can't talk about the breakfast as I slept thru it, but lots of options nearby. The only thing I would say is a couple of more towels please. Would def recommend. read more

Nicely set up rooms with a large, home-size microwave and fridge. Plenty of storage. Very well lit parking lot. The only negative so far is that finding the driveway from the road was difficult. There was no street sign that we saw. You have to turn into the Dickey's restaurant lot and go behind the restaurant to get to the hotel. Very pet friendly and only $10 per pet per night is very reasonable. read more

So the Towneplace suites in Gallup, NM won't refund my stay and here's why; I checked in at 6:27 am Sunday morning expecting to stay throughout the night as I was told by the individual who checked me in. We established this "assumption" by him offering me breakfast that morning and the next. I had just got to Gallup after a grueling 70 hour work week traveling across the country to stay in a place I thought was going to treat me well. I was visited by a housekeeper after 1 pm asking me when I was going to be out. I was told by said housekeeper that my room was put in the system as a "day use" room by me and that I had up until noon to checkout. This caught me off guard. Again, I was under the assumption that I was staying throughout the night. I went down to the front desk and asked them about what had transpired. They informed me that the individual who checked me in was new and didn't know protocol. Not my fault. I had some sleep but I was still tired so in a frustrated rage I was being insistent on a refund because I was charged the night I thought I was gonna stay. I was charged for the day use which is a normal nights stay AND they were going to charge me for Sunday night as well. I wasn't told this as the time I checked in.... The manager at the desk told me that if I vacated the premises with my belongings immediately I would not be charged again. I left with my belongings and went about my day trying to block that charge and file a complaint with Marriott. I got a response from the General Manager, Vivian, informing me that Marriott (corporate) understands what's going on and will not be giving me a refund. They didn't follow up with my side of the story so corporate only has their side of said story. I am out $180 because of a SEVERE LACK of communication and I wanted to share my story because I felt I was abused by their construct. This also lets me get it off my chest.
