Located about three blocks from the Capitol building, this was the perfect place to stay for a quick trip in for the legislative session. It's about as convenient of a location is there can be for anything in town. Less than half a mile from the freeway, and only a few blocks from the buildings that you are probably visiting while in town. They have parking that is included with the stay, a nice breakfast in the morning, and a simple, but effective workout facility located on the first floor. Check-in was simple and both of my interactions with the front desk were very pleasant. The rooms are spacious and appointed as you would expect. The beds were comfortable, and really, the only abnormal thing, at least for my room, was the fact that the bathroom was off of the main room, rather than the bedroom. Not a huge deal, but just a little different. The price was very reasonable, and I was able to check out late, which made for much less to think about during the day. All in all, this is a great spot and one I'll be visiting again next time I'm in town. read more

Town place suites are a bit lower on the Marriott main, really meant for extended stays, so I knew what to expect. I picked this hotel because of it's close proximity to the state capital which has we were visiting. The room was comfortable enough and clean enough. Everything was in good working order. I recently stayed here for a week for business at the Capitol. It has EVERYTHING you would ever want or need for your stay. Full kitchen, excellent and friendly staff, clean rooms, modern, quiet and comfortable. We used the work out facility, the laundry, etc. This is run by professionals and it shows. The location is convenient to EVERYTHING in Olympia. You can walk to the Capitol, downtown, the marina. We really enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it! read more

I was already checking out that morning, so I couldn't change rooms or anything. The hotel staff apologized but didn't seem as horrified or as upset as I would expect. I travel almost every week so I'm admittedly spoiled when it comes to hotel rooms. That said, I would not come back here. The main thing I want in a hotel room are comfortable beds and pillows. These were horrible. The staff was pleasant but it's like the owners tried to create more rooms than the building could handle, so the rooms are small and the bathrooms are ridiculously small with zero counter space. Cabinets are beat up. Not what I've grown to expect from Marriott as a Titanium Marriott customer. read more

The updated hotel is totally lovely - the room is small but I can do yoga in a spot if I move the ottoman out of the way. Well appointed for a long stay with a real fridge, dishwasher, garbage disposal and plates and silverware, this place almost has it all. The most disappointing part, and I'm not sure how many starts to dock for it because it affects perhaps the most important part of staying in a hotel, are the sheets. The scratchiest sheets I've ever encountered in a hotel. They woke me up when I moved! So close to greatness. At least they're replaceable and when they are, this place will be the place to stay in Olympia. read more

Our room was in very poor condition, especially given the price. We've never been so disappointed at a Towneplace Suites before. There were all kinds of issues in our room, from multiple burnt out lights and broken furniture to hairs on the floor. There was also some very poor planning, like the microwave being so low over the sink that you couldn't really use the sink, and no towel bars or hooks in the bathroom despite signs encouraging you to hang your towels for reuse. Positives were the location and staff, but we would not return. read more

The Hotel is in a great location, walking distance to downtown and ample parking as well. The Staff is very courteous and helpful. I first have to commend Rebecca Cattnach (Director of Sales), she helped my team and I out with our reservations and also helped in modifying and/or canceling some rooms due to unforeseen circumstances. Next I have to applaud Gabriela Gonzales (GM) and Gilary Rodriguez (Guest Services Rep). When my team and I checked in they where very professional and went out of their way to make our checkin very easy and made us feel at home. They even assisted me with my extra equipment that I had shipped in for work. The Rooms are spacious and I love the little kitchenettes which came in real helpful due to our hours of work and not wanting to go out to eat after a long day. Each room has a range cooktop, microwave, sink, medium size refrigerator, place settings for 4, dishwasher and utensils for cooking... if you're lucking enough you get a small stove with the range. The Beds are very comfortable with plenty of closet and dresser drawers space. The Bathroom are nice, some rooms just have a shower while others have a bath/shower. There is a small complementary Breakfast every morning with hardboiled eggs, cheeses, bagels, toast, waffle iron, oatmeal, dry cereals and fruit. There is always Hot coffee in the lobby. Pros: Great Location Friendly Staff Clean and comfortable rooms Nice complementary breakfast Easy access to I-5 Nice gym and I love that the washer & Dryers take Credit Card vs coins. Cons: Microwave above the sink makes it difficult to wash dishes No hooks in the bathroom to hang your towels No small table to eat at if you have more then one person. Our insurance company put us here when we experienced a flood. I can't believe how incredible the staff and stay was at such a stressful time of our lives. We had our young daughter with us and the first night we came back to the hotel after getting back to work and school, we found her favorite stuffed animal tucked into the bed waiting for her when she got home. We were in Olympia to celebrate our son's second birthday. We stayed here for just a night, but we hope to stay here again. Based on my search, this is a pretty budget-friendly place to stay but feels much higher class than your average budget friendly hotel. The whole place had a nice, clean and modern feel. There is no restaurant attached to it, but you get a gym and laundry room. In the room, we had a kitchen with a large refrigerator -- not the dinky 2' tall ones -- and a stove and dishwasher. There were even dishes and utensils. If you want, there is an option of borrowing small appliances, such as a blender, from the front desk. It definitely is a great option for saving money from eating out every day on vacation or really having as much of a home away from home as possible. They do offer some food for breakfast. There is cereal, yogurt, fruit, bagels and waffles (make your own). I must say I was impressed with their wafflemakers. The waffle came out perfectly! No sticking, no mess! There is free parking -- outdoor parking and a small covered parking under the building. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying here again. read more

Breakfast included in a exaggeration here. They only have about 5 breakfast options(white bread, white bagel) and they make only 2-3 available at any time. They aren't just bad at restocking as items run out during breakfast hours, they don't stock item at all. They should be audited by Marriott brand. When I asked them for oatmeal, they brought us two bags to our table like they were doing us a favor (and still not restocking the breakfast area). read more

The rooms are new and well designed, although there are no hooks in the bathroom and very little countertop space. I was glad I found a hairdryer placed unexpectedly in a bedroom's closet. The location is great, very close to the Capitol. One big disappointment was a breakfast. It closes at 9 am, which for me is early. Today is a Labor Day and it was no exception, and o Sat and Sun it is till 9.30. So all in all, when we showed up at 9.15 everything was cleaned and over. Leaving hungry. And angry. read more

We decided to take a quick trip to Olympia and wanted a place that was in a great location. We came across the TownePlace Suites. What a great place! The staff (especially Kayla) were beyond friendly. We were able to walk to all kinds of places. The capitol is super close. As is the historic district. The hotel itself is super clean, very modern (did they just remodel), has a lovely breakfast and free parking. Will certainly recommend this hotel to others and would definitely stay here again. read more

They were having water maintenance so no shower or toilet use from 8am to 3pm... really? And they have the audacity to charge us extra fees here and there. And they won't negotiate down those fees for you. And don't expect anything from their breakfast menu. They serve you frozen burritos. read more

Lovely stay here for a family reunion, three nights. Made use of the patio and grill for dinners. Staff friendly. Only drawback is that the rooms are all a bit different. What a nice spot! I loved my room on the 3rd floor with a modern kitchenette space, coffee maker, great glassware, and amenities. The bathroom was quite nice with a shower I could have sat in all day. The bed was fresh and cozy. The trend in the hotel business seems to be more show, and less go. This place fits that approach perfectly. We arrived late after several delays on the road. We were met with a place which had no obvious lobby, and where the only "entrance" sign took us on a very quick loop in and out of the small, full parking garage. When we finally gave up and parked in the main driveway -- there's no check-in parking to be found -- to check in and unload our technical gear, we found a new desk clerk being trained, and who had to be prompted at each keystroke. Meanwhile, an old codger/guest who couldn't figure out there were two ways through the parking area drove through the bushes next to us rather than wait a minute while we finished unloading. It took quite a bit of re-engineering to quiet some of the ambient noise sources built into our room ... In particular an always-on exhaust fan right over our bed. (I won't spoil the fun for other would-be problem solvers and tell you how we did that.). We also had to monkey with the not-quite-large-enough curtain to block out most -- but not all -- of the outside light. As noted elsewhere, the muslin sheets are not quite as rough as gunny sacks. But pretty close. Breakfast was utterly lackluster, and the coffee was dishwater weak. Especially annoying is Marriott's continued use of lots of disposable plates, cups, and virtually useless plastic eating utensils. Adding that much refuse to the landfill on a daily basis is shameless. Would we stay at a Towneplace again? Sure ... if it's more like the one in Missoula, Montana, and less like this one in Olympia. Otherwise, we see Hilton is stepping up their game with their newer Hampton Inn & Suites properties like the truly fantastic one in Bend, Oregon. read more

I stay here a lot. I love the rooms--generous kitchen, HUGE bathrooms, and lots of storage. The only drawback has nothing to do with the hotel or its staff. Well, kind of the hotel, and some of its weekend clientele. The interior walls are extremely well insulated, but the room door is not, so you can hear ALL the hallway noise. All of the entrance doors and hotel doors slam as a default option. And while this hotel is pricey, it doesn't seem to discourage inconsiderate people from slamming doors, cackling in the parking lot right outside folks' rooms, or yelling in the hallways at 11 pm. Not quite People of Walmart, but still surprising. Meanwhile, there could be a 10-person party yakking it up and doing keg-stands in the room next to you and you'd never know it. A small investment in door 'shushers' and some kind reminders to morons to be quiet in the hallways, and this place would be perfect. Bring your earplugs if you're staying here on a weekend. All of these complaints are actually minor, really. This is my favorite hotel in Olympia. read more

This hotel was the worse Marriott I have ever stayed in. There were no good channel selections on tv or family/kid friendly channels. This would have been fine, except renting was also not an option. There is also no swimming pool. Will never stay here again. read more

Absolutely amazing and helpful staff here! We came to Olympia to visit family, our one week of family vacay, and things took a bad turn when my 16 year old got the stomach flu! After driving from Portland to Olympia (following a night of being up with him) we realized we had accidentally booked a studio room versus a room with 2 beds. Both Maurice and Brie came to our much needed rescue!! They were able to find us a room that would help us keep our sick one comfortable, with a bed to sleep in versus a pull out sofa. I'm so grateful for their help, they didn't even blink an eye, they just got to work helping us and made our stay here great, despite the challenge we had :). Thank you SO much Maurice & Brie for going that extra mile! As a Gold member, I can say that Marriott is very fortunate to have you both as part of their staff team. read more

First time staying at this hotel. I was able to check in a little early and not get charged a fee. The front desk person said they upgraded my room but when I walked in my room it was exactly what I paid for so not sure what the "upgrade" was. The room is big, had a full kitchen with dishwasher, oven, stove and fridge. Living area w/ couch , 2 tv's and a comfy king bed. The view was of the parking lot but that didn't bother me much. Overall room was good and quiet.My only con was the wifi. I was told all I had to do was connect and accept terms. Wifi signal didn't make it to my room (1st floor) i kept trying to connect but it kept saying no internet connection. I called the front desk they told me to turn my phone off and on again - thought that was pretty dumb and not helpful at all. I did walk towards the lobby with my phone and then the internet started working but once I got to my room it was gone. Big disappointment for me since they offer "free wifi" but couldn't use the internet on my devices or Netflix in the room. I told the front desk in the morning, they apologized and let us take a few treats for the road. Nice gesture but I won't be back. read more
