This is the go to hotel when you're traveling on this side, but it is so rundown. I really wish that they would make some updates! The walls and crevices are very clearly worn, but the little things that matters such as strong water pressure in the shower and clean sheets are still there. I really enjoyed that this hotel has a mini kitchenette and a full-size fridge. It helps a lot when you're traveling so you can buy groceries, or cook if that's what you want to do. The only grip I had about the room was the fact that every time I turned the TV off, I had to log back into my Netflix account again. Obviously a first World problem, but kind of annoying. There is only one elevator for three stories, and sometimes that was a drag, especially because our group of 15 people got back at the same time every day, and sometimes a lot of other people were arriving around the same time as well. Breakfast was delicious, and they had a perfect assortment of items to choose from, from hot foods, a waffle station, oatmeal, fresh fruit, and breads. Beware of fleas! This is the Stafford, VA location. Stayed in room with double beds with my family and saw small dots that were jumping! Yep, fleas! Brought to front desk attention and even showed them the fleas in room - most inept staff and management. We ended up leaving for another hotel and expected an immediate refund since charge was posted to credit card. No return calls from management despite being told we would get a call back. Finally saw refund post after calling Marriott corporate. Basic expectation was for management to hear concerns and not hide from them, make it right for the customer by promptly refunding their payment and do a more thorough job on cleaning and inspecting. These things are not hard and require attentiveness and accountability. read more

Three stars for the great customer service. The gentleman at checkin was extremely courteous, respectful, and knowledgeable. The hotel is clean for the most part. Nothing special about the rooms, but again, at least it is clean. The rooms are dated but what can you expect from a budget hotel. I primarily stay here and the Fairfield Hotel next door because I'm a Marriott rewards member. The gym definitely needs to be expanded. Management, please visit the gym at the Courtyard hotel in Woodbridge and take notes. read more

Location: This one's a little off the beaten path. There's not much around the hotel but that is a relief from the traffic-filled highways between DC and Fredricksburg. In fact, we chose this hotel to get some relief from the hustle and bustle of the DC area. Ambience:  The hotel is about as middle-of-the-road as you get. There's nothing spectacular about the hotel but I would expect that for this product under the Marriott brand. It was overall clean, organized and consistent. Sometimes that's just what a customer needs; it's what we needed. Staff:  The staff was very efficient and helpful. Check-in was a breeze. We spent about 5 minutes at the front desk where everything was already prepared. We had a pet and they made that a breeze as well. We had one form to sign and were given a little magnetic to keep on the door. The staff at the front desk also gave us some good suggestions for local restaurants. It's always nice to have people knowledgable about the local area. Room:  The room was an in pretty good condition. The main room had some pretty standard furniture including a sofa, desk with chair and hutch with the TV. There was a small stove and oven with a standard sized refrigerator. There was also a dishwasher available. There were some basic dishes, kitchen materials and a separate trash can. The bedroom is pretty standard. The bed was comfortable and clean as was the bathroom. Although the hotel is newish, the cleaning staff does a great job in keeping the rooms immaculate. Overall: This is one of the workhorse Marriott brand hotels. You're going to get a good, solid product at this location. There's nothing spectacular about the location or the room. The staff make all the difference in keeping this a nice experience. I would definitely recommend this location if you're just looking for a good stopover that isn't in caught up in the busyness of DC or Fredricksburg. read more

For a TownePlace Suites, I got a little more than I bargained for. I stayed here for about 10 nights. Overall, the rooms are spacious, stocked with a kitchen and a sofa. Coin operated laundry with supplies and quarters available at the front desk. Free WiFi which worked pretty flawlessly. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate available in the lobby 24/7 with a basket of free candy at the front desk. I'm stuck at 4 stars for the following reasons: - I had to return to the front desk after checking in very late because my keys didn't work. That's always frustrating, and even more so when you're tired and you have to haul your luggage. - The gym is too small. More than 2 people and it becomes uncomfortable. One bench. One weight rack. Four cardio machines. That's it. - Housekeeping wasn't the greatest. - The breakfast did not change once, but at least it's free. read more

TownePlace Suites are usually pretty basic as far as the Marriott lineup goes but this particular one was above average. The front desk lady was super friendly and helpful. We felt welcomed immediately upon check-in. Hubby really enjoyed the coffee/tea station in the lobby without having to go in the dining area. Breakfast was great! I was surprised they had hot food (neatly fried eggs and pork sausage patties!) and it wasn't crowded at all on Memorial Day. They have an outside pool too but we didn't have time to go. Room was modern and clean but I wish there could have been a full length mirror. The toilet paper dispenser was also hard to get to. Here is the only con of the stay: so check out is listed at 11am, which we planned for. However, very unexpectedly, someone (probably the maid) entered our room at 10:20am and we had to shout multiple times that we weren't ready for her to close the door. This was pretty rude as we still had 40 min on the clock to be in our room... Also, the location was not great as it was still a 40-min drive to the wedding venue at the vineyard supposedly nearby. read more

Christopher Ware, the manager at this facility, made this the absolutely worst experience I have ever had at a Marriott! Because I used my elite member bonvoy points to book a stay for my son, who was supposed to start a class In The area on June 17. He tried to charge me more than what I paid for the actual room in incidental fees. When I told him that is an excessive amount, his reply is you can just add more to your credit card and then and only then will he give me a key for my son's visit. When calling the Marriott binvoy customer service number, the customer service person that called herself helping me, said she has never heard of those kind of fees being charged either. Then she tried to find me another hotel near by, but hung up on me and never called me back! And you know you're not going to speak to the same representative when you call them. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! COULDN't EVEN GET IN THE ROOM WITHOUT BEING HIJACKED AT THE FRONT DESK BY THE FRONT OFFICE MANAGER, CHRISTOPHER WARE!!!! read more

Not a great property! The beds are a full size and they are very uncomfortable! The front desk was not friendly and they didn't bother to welcome a Platinum guest. The rooms are dated and dirty, the entrance has dog droppings. Suggest they not allow people to have their dogs do their business in the front door! About the only good thing I can say about this place is the front desk staff was super nice. The hotel manager, though, was not a say to work with. The bed was lumpy, saggy, and needed to be replaced. The walls were dirty and the bathtub - although clearly painted white to look newer - was obviously old and worn, with dirt and crud showing in crevices around the base. A couple of days after leaving, I called the hotel to inquire about picking up my dog bed that I mistakenly left behind. I was placed on hold and eventually told there was no dog bed in lost and found. I asked for a manager to call me back. That never happened. The following day I called back again and was able to reach the manager at that time. She told me she was "just about to call me" because a new maid mistakenly threw my dog's bed away. She also stated it was "the first time that ever happened." I agreed to be reimbursed by check after her assurances a check would be put in the mail the next day. Since I was local (only an hour's drive away, I fully expected to have a check in the mail and over to me within three or four days. After posting an honest 3 star review with Marriott, Including the fact that they threw my dog bed away, the manager emailed me to "remind" me she was reimbursing me. She seemed to be indicating my review was unfair in some way because I agreed to be recompensed. After not receiving the check in the mail I reach back out and found out the check was not sent the next day like the manager said. Ultimately, I ended up leaving the country for an extended period of time with no reimbursement. I reached out to the manager to ask if she would cancel the check and put a credit on my credit card and she refused. She seemed almost gleeful in her response that I asked for a check so that's what I'm getting. I even reached out to Marriott corporate who told me there was nothing they could do. So this review is a one star because not only did they fail to return phone calls after knowing they messed up, the manager was petty, the bed was horrendous, and the property in general is in need of a drastic makeover. read more

Front desk really nice and helpful and as a Marriott rewards member I get a free item. The rooms aren't fancy as they are extended stay by very comfortable. It's like a little studio apartment. So far no complaints and really enjoyed the check in process with the mobile app. Walked in, showed ID, and got my keys and now scoping the room. Clean and cozy but I miss home lol. read more

No hot water, not the best way to start the day. Lady at the front desk was pleasant and apologetic. However I'm sorry is not an appropriate response. When someone checks in to a national chain hotel there is a certain level of expectation. Simply saying I'm sorry isn't enough. As a good will gesture offer some points or something. I'm not looking for something for nothing, but when expected goods and services are not delivered some sort of compensation should at least be offered. read more

Nice little hotel located conveniently near the MCB Quantico. Rooms are semi large (not as big as residence inn, but u get similar setting, kitchen, living room, dining table). Free breakfast, small shop, and nice lady at front welcoming you "home". The only negatives are the location which prevents any outdoor jogging (unless you wanna run on Jefferson Davis...no sidewalk there), and very very thin wall - I know exactly what my next door did last night, and where are they going tomorrow. I've always trusted the Marriott brand and this brand-new Fairfield is stunning. Clean modern design, very welcoming. I have returned to active traveling for work after a few years and it appears to me that the Fairfield brand has become the new Courtyard -- which has priced itself out of the business traveller market while reducing amenities. Stafford VA is well-served by this Fairfield and if you have a choice, make it this one. read more

I stayed here for my work for a whole month and I was very satisfied. I was located on the 3rd floor so it was nice and quiet. Never heard any loud noises or dogs barking (not that it would bother me cuz I have one) and missed so much while I was away. The bed was comfortable and the little kitchen was convenient when I got tired of eating out all the time. They also have a nice continental breakfast set up and always free coffee and tea. I also liked their laundry room they had which is right across from their exercise room so I'd get on the elliptical while my clothes were in the wash. The ladies working in the front desk were always cordial and friendly which was always nice. It's conveniently located near restaurants and stores. This was the first time I had to stay in a hotel for a long time and I must say I'm very happy I chose this place. I would definitely stay here again. read more

I booked this using reward points and was very clear I needed it to sleep 6. I even called the hotel to confirm this would happen the clerk told me yes for a $10 upcharge. I was told there are 5 - 2BR suites in the hotel and when I was calling none had been requested so this would be no problem. Upon arrival I was greeted and told my room was all ready extra pillows & towels. I asked for confirmation on 2BR suite and they were SHOCKED at my request. It would be an extra $40 a night etc. As I began to call my office to get the name of the girl from my notes I heard from my friend that they wouldn't need to stay with me. So I let it go. I get to the room it has ONE queen bed and a pull out (this is NOTHING close to what I thought I was booking) when you pull out the sofa bed the queen practically touches the sofa bed! This room is by far the SMALLEST I've ever stayed in for a Marriott property including in NYC despite the fact that it has a kitchenette. At bed time I pull out the sofa make the bed and realize I have no pillows for the sofa bed (but remember the room was prepared with extra pillows & towels like my MR Gold profile requests). My 11yo calls the front desk and asks for more pillows to be brought up. She's told that there is only 1 clerk working so I will have to come get them! GREAT leave an 11, 9 & 6 yo in the room and to go get the pillows my room supposedly already had? Now I'm about to get in the shower and to my surprise I do not have a dry towel! My 3 children showered last night and each used one! I'm in the travel business, I know the rule is 1 extra towel for a standard room of 2 people. So where are those extra towels - yep, you guessed it with the extra pillows that I didn't get! But I can go to the front desk & get them cause there is only one clerk working! SURE, leave my 3 sleeping children at 4:45 AM to go get the extra towels my MR Gold account told them I wanted?!?? My kitchenette does not have an oven for me to reheat the 2 dinners I brought (in foil pans so using the microwave to do that is out of the question)! This is a non smoking property but you can sit right at the front door & smoke so all of us non smokers have to walk through the cloud of smoke to enter the hotel. But you must walk your dog outback- I told the clerks at the desk - change that rule... smoke out back, walk the dogs out on the front grass! read more

I had just stayed at another TownePlace Suites at a different location, when I checked in here. Stafford's appeared brand new, had nice hardwood floors and carpeting, a great room design, a nice new pool, and a nice "backyard" to walk your dog. I recommend it. read more

We were looking for a hotel for a nine night stay and since it seemed so clean and well kept from the outside we decided to stop in. We had not booked in advance but Amanda was able to accommodate us within notice and get us a room. The rooms are very nice with a kitchen, fridge, AC, desks and spacious walkways, cabinets, and closets. The breakfast is nice with waffles, fruit, cereal, sandwiches, and oatmeal. We would recommend this place to everybody looking for a hotel within the area. As Stafford goes, this hotel is top of its competitors in terms of friendliness, cleanliness and ease of access. I'm sure they meet every standard set for them by Mariott. When I come to town, which is often, I choose to stay here if available. The staff is fantastic and they always go the extra mile to assist when asked. In my last stay, they took the time to book my airport return van and ensure it arrived early for my departure. The rooms are of good quality and I've never had any complaints. read more

I am a Marriott rewards member [for now] and Stayed at this hotel for my Wedding Anniversary weekend on November 4, 2017. We Get to the room and found A Round Turd [ as in a piece of feces, as in Doo-Doo, as in something that comes out of a butt] in the Sheets under the blanket hidden at the foot of the Bed Along with several brown streaks of stains around the turd! 1st, response after being in utter shock was to grab a piece of tissue and pick the turd up to place in the trash. In addition, I noticed that the turd was super hard so it had to have been there for quite a while. Nevertheless, I brought this to the attention of the front desk and they simply said they would get the manager to call me later regarding the issue. Okay. Fine. Moved on. The next week came, The manager by the name of SABINE MULLIN calls me and introduces herself. She says to me: "So, I understand that you wanted me to give you a call?" Me: No, I just shared with your employee the details of my stay and he said that you would call. Sabine: Well, yes that's why I'm calling. Me: okay, I found feces in my sheets. Sabine: So, You are accusing us of putting it there? You have no proof! I have checked my records and no animal has been in that room for a very long time. Me: pardon me? Ma'am, I didn't do a DNA test to determine whether or not it was human feces or animal feces.....Long story short....She NEVER Apologized over the phone for my experience, she essentially blamed me for finding it, and DID NOT grant me a refund or any other incentive. ...This was the most disrespectful phone call I have ever received from a "professional "....Her name is Sabine Mullin. ...please don't support her business, I was discriminated against and was not treated with honor. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I was traveling with a dog (this hotel does allow pets) and we were a few hours ahead of schedule for our 3:00pm check-in. They allowed us an early check-in so I didn't have to try to find somewhere dog friendly to waste a few hours. The room was clean, well stocked and comfortable. Andrena greeted myself and my dog by name everytime we walked into the lobby and worked tirelessly to keep the breakfast bar clean and well supplied during a very busy weekend. I recently stayed at the TownePlace Suites with my husband and 2 children. I was not sure what to expect and since we were staying for 2 weeks, I was apprehensive. The hotel was clean and well decorated. I was concerned since I have experienced hotels that allow animals can sometimes deteriorate quickly. This is not the case here. The staff is super-friendly and overly accomodating (Andrena and Kiki are awesome). They have several size rooms to choose from, and the free breakfast in the morning is easy and clean (Connie does a great job!). The pool is not huge but keeps kids happy and they have noodles already in the pool for them. The workout room and laundry room were well kept also. Overall, we had a terrific experience here. I had to hug Andrena at the front desk when I left, she had been so sweet to us. read more
