To start, I just want to say how kind and patient Marci was with my Winnie. She truly loves her career and is very passionate about it. Winnie is a rescue with some traumatic past, thus she doesn't easily trust strangers and is reactive with other dogs and most humans. Marci took her time with meeting Winnie, making sure she is comfortable and happy. During grooming, her movements were soft and gentle and she was very patient with Winnie when she whined and / or moved around. Okay, now to grooming part. I brought Winnie in hoping to get her the sheep poodle cut (小羊）which is big in Asia but not so much here. Marci analyzed all the photos I sent her, explained her thought process and did her best to reciprocate. I think she did a great job! Winnie looked so cute and I was really happy! I went with this groomer just because I really needed grooming for my 4 month old "Shorkie" (Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix). I was so pleasantly surprised as Marcie was a very lovely lady who was just all smiles and my puppy just loved her! She gave us a tour of her grooming shop and it was just a very clean, well organized area and it felt comfortable for me and my puppy. I also came with my gorgeous god daughter and she loved the place. She felt very comfortable and liked Marcie right away. Marcie explained what her plan for Archie and told us she will text us when Archie is ready to be picked up. We came back and Archie was so cute in his new hair cut and smelled so good. My 4 month old puppy Winston got groomed for the first time today. It was important to me to find someone who would be patient and gentle since the grooming process is new to him. Marci did just that and is incredibly sweet. She is very knowledgeable and did an amazing job. She made sure we were on the same page about his cut before she started. I can't say enough about how pleased I am with Marci and Toy House Dogs. I've had my little schnoodle Roxie for six years and have been through a lot of groomers! I came to accept that Roxie would just look weird and choppy, growing out too long, getting mats then having to shave her down. The dogs love her and we trust our dogs in her capable hands. We drive here from Benicia to Walnut Creek. The closer places just didn't have the right vibe for us, or I didn't see as skilled for the particular haircuts we want. (Look, I don't want to go to a place where it looks like their haircuts were just done by me during the pandemic.) Ladies, have you been to a hair salon and a fantastic stylist will be like "The photo of what you want your hair to be...it won't turn out like that because that photo shows a lot of hair in the front, but you don't have that right now, we could work towards that"? Without knowing any better (first time dog owner), I had been taking my dog to a place where I would drop her off in the morning and be called for a pick up five or six hours later. Never set foot on the inside. I would bring the dog, someone would open the door a quarter of the way, and snatch my dog away with me yelling "ears not too long please" (all I had time to say before they closed the door again). They would do an adequate job, but my doggie always looked different and never quite right. Then my friend who has a dog the same breed as mine told me about Marci, and I knew then that there was much more to the world of grooming. Marci listened, understood the look I wanted for my Havanese doggie (I like her soft hair short, and her pretty face round), and did an excellent job. Marci is the sweetest lady, and I completely trust her with my dogs. I'm just disappointed that she didn't trim the legs/feet on both of my dogs. I expected and paid for a full body trim, unfortunately the legs and feet were not touched. I never expect a perfect trim, especially since my littlest one doesn't like being trimmed. Im just kinda confused as to why my other dog didn't get her legs or feet trimmed either. She is nervous, but will let you trim her. I'm not good at trimming my dogs, so I'm slowly trimming their legs and feet a little each day. Very disappointed since I really liked/trusted Marci, but I don't have time to pay full price and then to come home and trim the legs and feet myself. read more
