It can get crowded as they're usually busy, but this is a great place to come if you're looking to relax. They have both hot and iced drinks with milk alternatives. The iced drinks come in medium (16oz) and large and the hot drinks come in small (12oz), medium and large. The banana cream pie latte was delicious. It tasted like caramel and bananas, paired well with the coffee, and was the perfect amount of sweet. The bumbleberry pie was okay too but the fruit and coffee combination wasn't my favorite. I'd definitely recommend coming here in the morning for coffee and browsing for books if you're in Duck, NC.

We also opted for the picture package and were excited to see all the shots when we got home. Super fun! This was my first time jet skiing so I was nervous at first as the jet ski throttle was very sensitive and I ended up jerking my passengers around until I got the hang of it. After a few minutes I got it and we had smooth skiing. There's a large area to drive around in and we were able to get some nice speed.

Obviously they were making more money off the longer rental, so mine for tossed out. They did offer a late evening time slot but when I advised I had a three year old and that time was past her bedtime, they said the best they could do was a refund. Try explaining that to an excited three year old that was expecting her first time out on a boat.

Pointed us toward different ones my kids might like and showed us the various price points. There is a huge selection of kites, but also lots of things to keep you or your children entertained. I truly felt all the prices were way more fair than some of the more well known shops around the area. We got a 51" butterfly kite that flew easily for less than forty bucks!! I enjoyed wandering around this toy store. I was looking for a family friendly game but I wasn't able to make a decision so I moved on to checking out the plethora of Melissa and Doug toys and the Create-a-Critter machine. I've always been a Melissa and Doug fan because I feel like they make quality, timeless toys. I like their wooden puzzles in particular but they offer offer lots of great toys. Anyone who likes Melissa and Doug will probably appreciate the diverse selection at OBX Toys. Create-a-Critter was new to me. Lucky for me there was a little boy making a bear so I got to witness a little bit of the creation process. Basically, Create-a-Critter is like Build-a-Bear. You pick the critter you want to make yours and then the staff help you use this big gumball-machine-looking-thing that fills the critter to make it a plush toy. Critters start at about $20 and then you can pick out outfits and such. In addition to selling toys, including hosting Create-a-Critter birthday parties, OBX Toys also has an engraving business. I saw some of their samples but didn't get a very close look. Also, I saw an advertisement that says they do gender reveal boxes which seems like a neat idea. I didn't interact with the staff while I was at the store but I saw them helping other customers and could see how kind, patient and helpful they are. The shop itself is very narrow, tightly-spaced and a little tough to navigate through. But it's still worth a look. Great selection of all kinds of toys, old and new and many different brands as well. I've managed to get some interesting deals on some must-have items. I even found an entire toy set I had when I was a kid, which are some of my favorite types of finds as they take me back to my childhood. The prices can sometimes be a bit steep, but if you're a serious collector or you're just a big kid at heart, then it's totally worth it! My favorites are the wrestling figures, there are so many to choose from and some you can't find anywhere else. Some awesome additions to the collection have been found here. However, some toys in the store are hanging on the shelf in a plastic bag, which makes it difficult to see what they are and to browse through as I have to take all of them off the rack one-by-one to get to the one I want to see. If there was an easier way to do that, it'd be great. I'm sure the other patrons don't appreciate me holding up traffic while I rifle through several dozen little baggies that are above my head, trying not to tear the plastic or knock everything off the wall while I am squeezed in the six-inch amount of floor space between the displays. I also like the Hot Wheels cars, the blind boxes, and they usually have some really cute stuff by the front door like scented candles with cool themes, plushies, and bright, colorful goodies that could lift anyone's spirit with their innocent and happy stylings. The elderly lady who co-owns the shop with her husband told my sister to get away from their store and began to close the door. When my sister told them that her son was in there, the husband came into the doorway and got in her face, blocking my nephew from getting out of the shop. He told my sister to "get out of here" and wouldn't move to let my nephew pass. They caused a huge scene by being rude and yelling at her when she hadn't even done anything wrong. That couple is constantly rude, NOT kid friendly even though its a toy store, and just all around mean to customers for no good reason. They need to give the store to someone who can actually run it right or close down!
