I stumbled upon Absolutely Outer Banks a handful of years ago and I was impressed with the selection of locally made arts and crafts. Ever since, this is my go to spot for legitimate and tasteful Outer Banks souvenirs. In addition to locally made items they also have some vintage items and even some new items for sale. One item that this store specializes in is really cool resin windows that are unique and exude happiness. Absolutely Outer Banks has artwork in all mediums and in all price points. They have jewelry, wood signs, candles, prints, glass work, textiles, metal work, etc.  On my most recent visit I enjoyed looking at a vintage pin ball machine and eyeing up the beautiful array of Fiestaware. There is plenty of opportunity for ooohhhing and ahhhing.  The owner is super friendly so that adds to the overall great experience. Absolutely Outer Banks is centrally located in Kitty Hawk in the former spot of a bank.

I have visited all of the locations including most recently, the Duck store. Like the flagship store in Jarvisburg and the other locations, the Duck location is a multi-level maze of little rooms full of fun stuff. When I was a kid I remember The Cotton Gin having lots of boring cotton stuff - bedspreads, runners, placemats, towels and such. As an adult, I appreciate all of the nice quality cotton products they carry and I love shopping the other merchandise they carry. The Cotton Gin carries a fun variety of stuff from clothing, housewares, ornaments, home decor, souvenirs, jewelry and such. I went to parrots bay and framers daughter earlier in the week (which btw are the same place, like they sell thee EXACT same thing and I mean everything is the same) but I digress; they put a white sizing sticker on EVERYTHING!!! hated it and didn't buy anything because it grossed me out. While Grays did have size stickers on some of their shirts I'd say probably about 50% or more didn't have a sticker. Therefore, I absolutely loved this store! Last June, on our anniversary, my hubby and I slipped down to the beach and stopped in, it's been over 50 years now. We bought six items of clothing, and I'm super pleased with all of them. The sweats for me (lovely willow color with a zippered crop top) look great on me, they're soft and wash well. I've worn the black cropped knit sweater many times, it really dresses me up. The hubster got three sweat shirts, and they all fit REALLY well. Not too snug, not too baggy. They look good, feel good, and wash well. We've planned a little day trip to the coast to add more of these quality clothes to our wardrobe.

Staff were helpful, it was close to close so we were able to browse all around without too many people inside. I found tons of pool and ocean floaties, shades, umbrellas, boogie boards, bathing suits, towels, snorkels, etc. You name it, they probably have it. Additionally they have tons of memorabilia for you in the form of loads of coffee mugs, magnets, stickers, key chains and more. Lots and lots of clothing for adults and kids inside as well. This is a really cute little bookstore we found while exploring Kitty Hawk on our recent trip. It's…read morerare to find these days! The kids and I picked out a few things for our beach reading. The store itself is REALLY cramped - very crowded. I kept knocking into shelves and stuff. Kind of wish there were more spaces to sit and browse, relax, read - it's more of a get what you want and get out kind of vibe. Plus, I found it kind of hard to find things I was looking for. Several authors I follow I couldn't find in their sections. Maybe they have a different niche than what I'm typically drawn to - but there was a nice selection of books in the kids section including a decent showing in teen fiction. Staff was super friendly. Oh, and there was no bathroom. Part of why we had to leave is my little one needed to go, so we had to cut our browsing time short.

She was kind enough to process our order and ship it safely and securely to us. Again, all before they opened for the season! We were so very pleased with our purchases and the kind service. This continued today when Fran realized that they had charged us twice for our order, something I hadn't realized. She had issued a refund as soon as she learned about this and emailed me the receipt. Again, what an exceptional level of Customer service. The business has been slow for the past few months, but it is picking back up. The jewelry store and the Donuts On A Stick are owned by the same man. I have meet him before, but I did not see him today. Today Lisa was the employee in charge. The dog in the picture is the real boss. The service here is always excellent from when I have been here. The merchandise here is lovely and I almost bought something for myself. I might do aquire something here one day, but I will have to give it some thought. I am sure we will be back here before we leave next Sunday or Saturday. Until then, this place is one of my favorite stores in Duck North Carolina.

The woman who met us was super kind and gave us lots of great local recommendations and helped us through the choices at sign in! Jonny, Charlie and Drake were champs! All SUPER kind and patient with our questions and taught us a lot about how higher altitude hang gliding works. We were also interested in they were eager to share their knowledge! The actual ride up, in the sky and descent, could not have been more smooth and professional and comfortable, and one of a kind lifetime experience! It really is like being a bird! We were so glad we had purchased the two View video option because it just let us relive the experience!!!! I cannot recommend this experience and their people more! Treat yourself-it IS worth it!!

Duck's Cottage is a coffee and book shop located in the waterfront shops in Duck, NC. They also accept tap to pay, but enact a % charge on all credit transactions. The ambiance inside can be described as rustic and quaint. It's really cute if you're looking to read and chill. It can get crowded as they're usually busy, but this is a great place to come if you're looking to relax. They have both hot and iced drinks with milk alternatives. The iced drinks come in medium (16oz) and large and the hot drinks come in small (12oz), medium and large. The banana cream pie latte was delicious. It tasted like caramel and bananas, paired well with the coffee, and was the perfect amount of sweet. The bumbleberry pie was okay too but the fruit and coffee combination wasn't my favorite. I'd definitely recommend coming here in the morning for coffee and browsing for books if you're in Duck, NC.
