This is an older muni course (maybe 100 years old) but renovated within the last 25 years to make it PGA Tour sanctioned, so tournaments could be played here. Very rare for a muni course to be given these specs. So now this ain't your basic muni course anymore, it is now more premium...in greenkeeping, in price and demand to play. This was my first time playing on SF soil and I play almost weekly. I've played a few spots in Monterey, Half Moon Bay and this course has visually the same terrain, with coastal wet mornings and cypress trees all over. Now this course has no ocean views, but Lake Merced is visible from a few holes. I was enamored with the cypress tree lined fairways and the beautifully maintained grass all over. Now with all this high level groundskeeping, though beautiful is also where all the challenge is here. Because this course is fairly flat, they're using the cut of the grass to be the challenge or the penalty. The rough cuts here are borderline insane. A good challenge for a pro/near scratch golfer but very penalizing and difficult for an average to high handicapper. A 3 inch rough doesn't sound too bad, but it is long enough that if your ball touches this rough it will 1) be hard to find, unless you are on top of it; 2) lose any roll/distance as once in this rough, the ball will catch and stop, giving you a longer distance for your next shot; 3) it is hard to make a connection in this rough so that next shot will usually not be flush/ideal. So the basic gist of this place is 'stay away from the rough'. But for an average golfer that is just so improbable. Even a nice shot to a green that may miss just by a couple of feet could easily find this rough. And to be that close and to have a very difficult shot as a result, is just too much for me to swallow. Just took the fun out of the game...for me. So a tad too difficult for me, also pricier than what I could do on a weekly basis. $150 to walk on a weekend. My regular golf buds and I usually play much performance friendly courses for about $70ish. So this is definitely more of a special occasion type place. I still want to come back someday and see how I fare now that I know how things roll...or more accurately how they don't. read more

Recently had the pleasure of finding my way to playing Harding Park after about 15 years, and it was an enjoyable round. The facility itself is gorgeous. From the driving range to the clubhouse, the place looks in immaculate condition. Everyone from the starters to the pro shop were all great and friendly. The had a drink cart rolling around, and the drinks were fairly priced, around $10 for a high noon. The course itself is quite challenging. First time playing here in awhile, so not knowing the layout, I still happened score a 79 which is a good score considering I didn't know to play it. The views from certain holes is breathtaking. Lake Merced, never looked so pretty. It's one of those courses where it challenges you with it's dog legs and tight fairways. It's a fun experience if you love to shape the golf ball. Driver was used on most holes, but after playing it 3 wood or 3 hybrid off the tee is the smarter play. Pace of play was a bit slow, but that's normal for most public courses in the Bay Area. I think the main issue I have is the greens. Not in the best of shape, inconsistent speeds, definitely on the slower side, and honestly I expected better for the price point of a round. Luckily, I was able to find a discounted tee time via GolfNow, which made it somewhat golf affordable, especially for a TPC course. Without it though, I think the full price point (bay area resident rate) versus the quality of greens makes this a course that I won't play often but will soak it in whenever I do get a chance to play it. read more

Our favorite 18 hole muni course is here. We've been playing Harding off & on since hubby retired a decade or more ago. Before the pandemic it was easy to secure tee time. But post pandemic it's a challenge as both residents and non residents want to play here. A staffer in the pro shop says it's because Harding is the poor man Pebble Beach. You can book seven days out without incurring the $15 advance booking fee. The fairways used to be wider until it was reconfigured into a championship golf course. Most of us locals are in agreement we never play well at Harding. Too much rough. No matter. It's beautiful and we're fortunate we can enjoy it in our backyard. On Tuesdays & Thursdays you start on hole 10 first instead of hole 1. After a round of golf we typically head to the Cypress Grill onsite for a cold draft beer and some grub. read more

Came here to play the 9 hole course the other day. The experience was great, although definitely expensive (even with the SF resident card)! The course is stunning and the facilities are very well maintained. The driving range is on brand as well - very well maintained but expensive. I'll be back to try the 18 hole course soon! read more

I love this place. I'm pretty new to the game but frequently play Fleming 9 for practice. I'm a high handicapper (29) and feel the pace of play is quite manageable. The people that come here typically keep it moving. Weekends are always popping and with the season winding down, good luck getting a tee time. The greens are fast in the morning because I think these guys are cutting it every single day. The roughs are actually rough and the trees are diabolical! Think of that Robin Williams clip. The course and the staff are always nice and welcoming. I enjoy coming here and will definitely be back. read more

The grounds are well-maintained, and the people are always friendly. There's ample parking, and it's a great place to be. Love coming here to the driving range. They have the Top Tracer technology installed so you can track your day at the range. The Fleming 9 hole is also really great. I chose to walk it and was fine, but you can rent a cart if you like. If you are able to get an SF resident card, then I would highly recommend it so you can get a discounted price when playing the course. read more

Played Fleming 9 twice in September and both times we pretty good. Both in sunny weather and another in the usual SF fog gloom. If you're looking to get in a quick 9, Fleming is great. Pace of play is always decent and I ended up finishing in about 2-2.5 hours. The putting area is nice but kinda wished there were holes vs the pegs. The chipping area was nice and challenging to give a preview of the greens. Everyone was nice and courteous too while chipping. The fairways were nice and the rough not too bad. Always bad for me on the first hole as I got into trouble with two trees. But if you can keep clear you shouldn't be too frustrated. The fairways were held nicely and didn't have any problems with it. The pro shop was awesome and the memorabilia and souvenirs were the best. Melin brand hats with TPC Harding on it?! Heck yeah! Bought me my first Melin hat there and a great looking divot tool with the iconic 1925 logo. I love fixing ball marks/pitch marks. As a long time SF resident TPC will always be an option to play. read more

We had lunch out here which is nice because the view is a golf course and the food is always pretty decent. I had the French Dip Sandwich-$25.00 comes with 1 side, I chose coldslaw, other choices are fries or fruit. I had a Bare Bottle Hazy IPA-$10.00. Wife had the 1/2 cup of soup, claw chowder, and a chicken salad sandwich- $ 22.00 and my son had the Tuna Salad Sandwich-$22.00. For dessert which has limited choices- we selected the Banana Bread which comes warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream- $9.00 Waitress Kiah was nice and efficient. Good dining experience. read more

It's a good course. But players don't fix ball marks, fill divots or properly rake sand. Even worse, the rangers didn't police the course today. A couple of groups snuck onto the back nine, bringing play to a snail's pace, and dashing my hopes of finishing 18 (after teeing off at 1:20 pm). It's been over a year since I've played this course. The main reason is that it's hard to get a tee time and I'm not paying an extra $50 (per player) to book in advance. I did manage to get a time and was disappointed. For what they're charging, this should be the best course in the city but it isn't. Presidio is nicer and half the price. The greens at Harding have never been fast, but now they're even slower. Probably a 7 on the stimpmeter at most. Sharp Park has faster greens. read more

The space is beautifully kept, the people are always very nice/friendly. Parking is ample, and there's just a good feeling to being there. Extremely well kept, great design, challenging course, friendly staff, great food at the restaurant, and even the range is top notch -- best range I've been to! Some say it's expensive but I have an SF golf resident card so I get a good discount, well worth the investment. Every friend I bring here ends up loving it and wanting to come back. Even my wife loved it! And she is new to golf. It does get cold here, bring a sweater or wear a long sleeve shirt. Maybe even a beanie and neck warmer. read more

This place is now mediocre at best. It used to be SO much better. Remember the days of the President's Cup? Not in that kind of condition anymore. Camper vans and trash riddled along the street now add to the experience for unsuspecting visitors. The sorry ass starter giving attitude is an absolute abomination. You work at a golf course for Pete's sake you grumpy, miserable human being, and are the face of an institution. The least you can do is be friendly to the patrons paying your check. I just finished playing in the 2021 SF City Tournament and was so shocked in the playing conditions from the last time I played in 1995. In 95' the greens rolled about 5 on the stimp-meter and now are rolling around a 10. The tees and fairways are perfectly manicured and the Cypress Trees are healthy and trimmed. The pace of play back in 95' was 6 hours but our pace was only 4 1/2 hours and we got warned on #10 to speed up. I appreciated the push because slow play is ruining golf. The only bad issue, and I assume it is temporary issue, was the hard packed sand traps. Maybe the pandemic caused a white sand shortage. At least the 2 bunkers I was in didn't have any fried egg lies. I did read some reviews before I wrote this one and the top 2 complaints were about the rude staff and the cost of the green fees. I spoke to 3 different workers in the Club House and they all were very polite and helpful. I'm guessing the green fees are high because the City of San Francisco renovated the entire place including a new clubhouse, driving range and parking lot. I've been a caddy for the last 34 years. The first 13 years at Cypress Point and the last 21 years at Pebble Beach. In my opinion Harding Park is a world class golf course and the playing conditions are similar to Pebble Beach and Cypress Pt. If you're coming to SF and want to play where the PGA Pro's play you should play here at least once. read more

Not a fan of the 18 but if you want a quick 9 hole Harding park isn't too bad and also inexpensive.

Over rated and over priced for residents and SF guest. I've played other TPC courses and this is a dump in comparison. Grass clippings everywhere from the mowers, geese poop throughout the course, as well as garbage. Their golf ambassador/marshals don't bother picking it up. Beautiful layout and they did a great job on improving the course from the original but it came at a price which affects golfers. Unicorns are a sunny days but most of the time it's cold, damp and windy. The only way they make this course challenging is growing the rough out to 3-4in (This covers the entire course) and they've reduced the fairways to 25-30y. GL finding your ball! read more

We played on a Tuesday morning in mid-September. Got our tee-time a month out. When we had to change the date, the pro shop were helpful, but noted you only get 1 opportunity to change a tee-time, so be aware. Staff were all friendly in the pro shop, and the starter Lee was fun to chat with. We started our round on the back 9 (not sure why), but finishing via 9 or 18 was fine by us--both are nice holes. Course was in decent shape, but a lot of maintenance crews were out and about. The rough is unpleasant. Challenging, for sure, so read up on your golf tips before you arrive. Greens were very fun, and some real doozies in the mix. Only negative? Awful pricey to pay if you're not a local. $250+ to walk 18. A storied course and fun to play, but yikes. Cheers! RS read more

Wow, what an overpriced and ordinary experience. The only attribute that makes this course worth playing, is knowing the pros have played on the same course and having some sort of connection to great golfers. Outside of that, it's not worth the green free. With a $200 green fee, one would think you would receive complimentary range balls, but that's not the case here. The best part, was when I was informed it's highly recommended we walk, based on the amazing fairways on the course. When in actuality, it's highly frowned upon to ride in a cart, so there wasn't much of a choice. Both employees working upfront, wouldn't take no for an answer. Only when an individual in our party shared he had recent hip replacement surgery, was he granted a cart. Regardless, I was happy to get out on the course, and enjoy a nice walk and some stellar fairways. Well, see the pics below for the amazing condition these fairways were in. Lastly, while the snack bar was open, the service was lackluster at best. With the sign reading, ask about our special, I gladly obliged. Clubhouse Staff are excellent, super nice and friendly. Both the Harding and the Fleming 9 course are very well maintained as expected from a TPC branded course. Might be a rip off if you don't have a SF resident golf card, but otherwise great value. One of the Marshalls named Malcolm is sorta moody/emotional but the others are friendly. Gripes first: Paid $150 Bay Area resident rate (not SF resident card) for riding on weekend morning. They're pretty strict here needing you to check in at least 20 min prior to tee time and also check at the beginning to make sure you've paid. Apparently someone in our group's card didn't go through the first time and the starter forced us all to go back to the pro shop to figure out whose card it was and made a big deal about it instead of making a simple call to figure out who exactly in our group had the issue. There's only 4 people in a foursome, shouldn't be difficult to figure it out. Course condition was uninspiring today with barely passable greens and only ok fairway conditions. The rough was definitely tall and you need to club up or 2 if you find yourself in it. For the money, I expected a lot better condition. You can get the same vibe for cheaper if you play Sharp Park in Pacifica. Golf carts are cart path only and lock you out if you enter any restricted areas - there was a gravel path we entered and it locked us out forcing one of us to spend a whole 2 minutes pushing (more like coaxing) the cart 6 feet back to the regular path. Seemed a bit excessive considering the fairways weren't even in conditions worthy of $150. Additionally, on many holes you can hear bullets richocheting from a nearby gun range which was just plain annoying when guns are firing mid-swing for a course of this money. Also on the holes next to the driving range, several balls can be found on the course meaning you need to watch your head for any stray range balls while swinging. This is the only course I've ever seen range balls fail to be caught by the range netting. Pros: Fun playing in such thick rough to test your game. Carts have nice seats with bolsters. Lots of good views all around of Lake Merced, cypress trees, and Olympic Club. Also helps I scored one of my lowest rounds here. Was nice to check off the bucket list, but the attitude of marshals and starter, green conditions, and nearby gun range makes it not worth the money. Seems like you can get the same vibes for much cheaper playing the Fleming 9 if you're okay playing a 9 hole par-3 course. read more

I was lucky enough to jump on with the fiancé at the Fleming nine hole at TPC Harding Park the day after Christmas. Tough scores in the end for a par 30 ( 6-par3s & 3-par4s) but we enjoyed the beautiful Monterey cypresses, plush green fairways, and the manicured rolling greens. Staff quickly retrieved range balls when the ball machine jammed....Appreciate their swiftness. One of the best artificial driving ranges I've ever been to in decades. Starters at each first tee and bev cart running around.....Spectacular public course for the city of San Francisco and can't wait to play the full 18 next time. The greens and fairways are in great shape only because the entire golf course of cart path only. The place is super busy but the place is nice for a municipal course in a major city. Lake on the course which looks great and then Bart and homeless in another view. We are older so it was tiring to get in and out of the golf cart to find our balls in the fairways for each shot otherwise I like this place. read more

Played Harding a couple weeks ago, the first week the City opened it's courses. The course is great shape and the rough was really thick. The course still had all the grand stands up since the PGA championship was originally supposed take place in May and with likely be played without fans in August. Pros: *Layout-not a long course but very challenging. Aster designed course which means small greens. Fairways were narrow and rough is really thick *Greens-in great shape. The probably punched the greens since the course saw no action for 1.5 months. *Pace of play-players were set out in pairs *PGA Championship ready *Price-a little high, also with the PGA coming the price is high, but I played the Bay Area price so reasonable. Was super excited to play this course for the first time yesterday. Was super disappointed with the mats at the driving range first off not a level one there most of them sloped down hill and more contour then the putting greens on the course. So we started our 18 hole round in the back as I guess they do that on Tuesdays and Thursdays FYI no biggie first impressions of the course were good specially for a muni. As we got more into the course there are probably 3 holes that parallel the perimeters fence. Well along those fences are full blown homeless encampments broken down RV's and trash all along them. I get that there is a legit homeless problem in SF right now and this is just another reminder. Anyways continued to play the round and besides that the back had good play and beautiful views of Olympic CC and lake Merced. Finished walking the back in 2 hours 20 mins as play was a little slow. Still probably one of the nicest days that area had seen all year so I didn't mind. After finishing 1 and walking to 2 the group behind us over shot the 1 green and hit one of the players in our group with out calling fore or saying sorry and we were in plain sight and 50 yards away. Whatever shrugged it off and kept playing our game. As we finished with six and were walking to 7 the same group did it AGAIN over shot their green and came with in 10 feet of hitting us. No fore no sorry. When he walked up were asked him WTH and dude that looked like he was in his pajamas literally said he wasn't even that close. We reminded him that this was the second time he did this and then he blamed it on our pace of play. At no point during our round were we ever told we were playing slow by the Marshalls and it was a slow day for everyone. Even the group in front of us ended their round early because of it. I literally thought we were going to end up on one of those instagram accounts as a video of a brawl on the course. We shrugged it off tho and finished our play. I will say I was pretty upset and almost wanted to leave myself. Another thing I didn't like on the front is that the 9 hole course is mixed into the front 9 and there were a lot of balls flying around. I literally have PTSD from it now j/k. But be on your toes and be ready to cover your head. Will I play here again ..... probably not or would have to be the first group out. read more

If you got the SF golf card this place is golden. Nicest course I have played at the price, hands down. I've heard from others that, unless you want a real challenge, don't play this when PGA events will be coming up. Wasn't a problem when we played and actually the course is on the easy side if you're like me and miss the fairway 70% of the time. Why? No dense forest surrounding it like a lot of the courses I play. Tall boys are $11 if you like to imbibe. Not cheap, but when the beverage person comes around to hand you a beer it's worth it. Food at the clubhouse is also not cheap but it's solid. Unless you're pretty good I wouldn't recommend getting a cart here. With their cart path only rule, it was more trouble than it was worth, running back and forth to grab clubs. All in all super fun and worth the price, especially with the golf card. read more

The course was good, but the employee was not. My friend and I finished a course and we went the range, which we were not aware of was apparently closed. (This was around 4:00PM) The machines which we later realized sold balls to hit was covered with doors so we didn't know where to get the balls. We walked around and saw an open door in the shed behind the range with baskets and scoops in it so we thought we could take and hit a couple of balls before we left. An employee in sunglasses saw us and came over and randomly started yelling and bashing at us, calling us stealers and telling us to leave. He verbally accused us of something we weren't trying to do, and I tried talking to him about the situation, but he didn't listen. He continued to yell at us to get out. We decided to leave to deescalate the situation, and on the car we saw that same employee looking at our car laughing to his colleague as we were leaving. I also want to say that both my friend and I there were minors. I hope Harding you can take this seriously. read more

I took a client here hoping for a pleasant round of golf. We had a tee time, and showed up to the clubhouse about 10 minutes before. After waiting for the pro shop workers to finish a a long conversation with the person in front of us (which is fine), we checked in and headed to the first hole. After confusing signage (read: none whatsoever), we arrived at the first hole for the Fleming 9 hole. We were "greeted" by the course marshal, who rudely advised us since we were 2 minutes late for our tee time--not an exaggeration, literally 2 minutes--we were to meet up with the people we were paired with, who he had apparently let hit before their tee-time, and were already on the green. So, we skipped the first hole, which ended up halting our pace of play, as we waited 10/15 min each time for the next 8 holes due to being close behind the group in front of us. Later, this "marshal" drove around the course and scolded us disrespectfully for "not having all four wheels of the cart on the path" (we had parked slightly off to allow another cart to pass, so two wheels were on the grass). This is clearly unacceptable, especially since the course itself is not that well maintained, and multiple areas of the cart path have extremely unsafe rises in the asphalt due to tree roots. I have been to many, many courses which allow carts off-path and have been better maintained. Not to mention functioning fine without this extraneous position. Overall, this marshal ruined the experience, and I will never be coming back here. Treating paying customers as suspects is unacceptable and frankly embarrassing for this course. The price is extremely high ($55/person for 9 holes, a cart is $18 per person...), especially if you are not even able to play an entire 9 holes due to the rude and unknowledgeable marshal. Stay far away, there are many courses around the Bay Area better maintained and where they treat you with respect. read more

I've been lucky enough to play a few of the TPC courses recently. While this course is a beauty and extremely well maintained it's not a challenge. I think the advanced golfer will find it to be a nice track but will be leaving wanting a challenge. With that said, I'd like to point out that the staff is the friendliest I've ever met and I'm talking about everyone from the bag drop guys to the waiters. They really treat you like a king that's out there battling to break 100 on the weekend. Also the tuna melt is an absolute gem. Top 5 tuna melt for sure. read more

TPC Harding Park is an ABSOLUTELY AMZING golf course! My finance and I got to play at noon on a Wednesday afternoon and we literally did not once wait at any of the holes and we were able to finish in 4.5 hours (the guys we were paired up were a little slow). The greens were rolling so true, it was almost unbelievable. The tee boxes were well maintained, trimmed, and leveled. The bunkers were nicely raked and well balanced. The fairways were in great shape and there weren't too many divots. This course deserves all 5 stars except the non-resident rate at this course is so unbelievably expensive! I'll be back and I can't wait to be back but I won't be happy paying the non-resident rates again! read more
