Scheduling an online appointment was super easy with appointments available the next day (Sunday). I didn't even need to wait that long. My expectations for furnace repairs is always a little high and I was a bit worried about how much an emergency response repair would be. They got our furnace going by replacing a capacitor but they charged $500, which is a joke. The only positive thing I can say is that they were available on short notice, which lives up to the word "emergency" in their name. I'd suggest only using them when no one else is available. read more

Furnace didn't turned on. Called ER plumbing and heating. They were very responsive and sent someone over in an hour. The person said the motherboard of my furnace is fried and it's impossible to get one at this time. He recommended a new unit and quoted me $5500. I happened to have a warranty on the house due to recent purchase. So, called my warranty and they sent another technician out to diagnose. They were able to fix it within an hour costed me $125. The pump was the thing that was wrong. Not the circuit board. read more

We called last Thursday (2/26), based on a friend's recommendation. Needed someone to come out and fix kitchen faucet, downstairs toilet, upstairs shower head. Was told someone would come on Monday, 3/2/15, between 9:00 and 11:00 am. On Friday I came home to a voice mail message saying I needed to call a guy named Chris, who was trying to 'work this in.' I called Friday at 5:00 and left a detailed message (that we were scheduled). Never heard back. And no one showed up today. So I called the main number and a guy answered, who interrupted me three times. And when I said I didn't want to do business with them because of all this, he said 'okay.' A nice gentleman named Ray walked me through steps to turn the unit back on after we had cleaned out a blocked vent. He was patient and had nothing to gain from helping me. Ray told me it would be $125 service call Which would be applied to the repair. He charge me $250.00 to simply change out the $45 thermostat! Tells you one price then when he's done with the job charges whatever he wants without first discussing it with you! Total rip-off! Don't trust him!!! read more

I was referred to ER from someone in the house renovation business, as my attempts to find my own plumber were comically bad. Much of my review is based on the extreme difference between dealing with ER versus other plumbing businesses. I had issues with my heating (gas, forced hot water) last winter, which was also the first winter I lived in my home. I had multiple parties out to look at it for multiple problems. I was given a laundry list of issues, especially by one local business, much of which to me seemed like extraneous services and repairs; i.e. things that weren't going to directly fix my problems. My absolute biggest problem with that particular business, other than their inability to actually fix anything, was their refusal to breakdown costs as it pertained to each element of the job. They flat out denied to tell me what a part cost or how much/how long the labor was on anything. Enter Ray, after a summer off from my heating headaches, but still with a bum boiler, Ray was able to diagnose the issues as being much deeper than just a broken part here, or a "dirty" part there. He was able to explain to me what was wrong, while also giving some priority to the list, so that I was able to make sure I had the most egregious issues fixed. The cost was reasonable and straightforward, so much so that I went ahead and had him fix everything while he was there. While it was still a good amount of money, I wanted the confidence in heading into the winter that my heating system was running well. I waited a couple of weeks to post this, being that I was gun shy from so many failed attempts to have my stupid boiler fixed, but I'm happy to report it's running SO much better than before and I'm very confident in it going forward. I'll likely save the money I spent in the first year based on how much more efficient the system is now. read more

Water heater at my rental property sprung a leak late sunday night, forcing me to shut off the hot water to the 2nd floor. All I got was an answering service at Gems that tried to schedule an appointment in a 4-hour window on Monday mid-morning to late afternoon to diagnose (not fix) the problem for a minimum charge. I called ER Plumbing first thing Monday morning, and he gave me a 2-hour window in which he would show up to replace the water heater. Gave me the price over the phone, agreed to call me 30-minutes before he showed up, and showed up on time at 9:45 Monday morning. Replaced the water heater while I waited. When I tested the water on the 2nd floor, my tenant told me he had been having problems with flow in his sink. I opened and closed the valve, but that didn't help and it caused the valve to leak. I asked if they could take a look at the sink, and it took his helper all of 3 minutes to solve that problem while he finished cleaning up downstairs. Final price? Exactly what he quoted me over the phone. read more
