Track & Field Bar Hack: How to Win At Lawn Games With A Beer In Hand 1) Game lovers, assemble your league of champions: For maximum fun, go with a group of 6-10. To win, make sure everyone on your team knows how to play shuffleboard or bocce (pronounced bah-chee) - see #2 and House Rules at the end for details. 2) Know the rules of the game: Up your game by YouTubing it. For shuffleboard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPsqB3tY7hk. For bocce: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hhN6S-1urM. Crokinole, what's that? Also, since their courts are not regulation size, reading over their House Rules will help you win - and save your reputation. 3) Book your lane: Booking a lane will cost you $40/hour/group between 5 pm 'till midnight. On Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights, best to book ahead or wait at least 1-3 hours before you play. Pro-tip: All lanes are free after midnight and for walk-ins. 4) Look for the hidden entrance: Head west of College and Ossington, look for the black T&F logo and stairs leading down to seemingly nowhere. The mine-shaft, mega-basement is just under 5,000 sq ft and can hold 158 hipsters so come before 10 pm to avoid the queue. 5) Drinks and snacks: Beers on tap include Eephus Brown Ale, Oast House Barn Raiser, Beau's Lug Tread. Signature drinks include Versace Versace Versace, Quiet American, Negronis. Bar snacks include homemade jerky, wasabi peas, bits & bites, pretzels. Ordering Dominos pizza delivery is highly encouraged. No summer patio?, but why need one when you have the Astroturf? 6) Dance, dance: There's a dance floor, a live DJ playing modern indie, an ultra-modern bar, and a couch swing for all these mix of 20- and 30-somethings. Open seven days a week from 5 pm to 2 am at 860 College St. If I could, an overall 6/5 stars for Toronto's first ever lawn games bar. Brought to you by the owner of Montauk (Dustin Keating) and reminiscent of the hidden and much-loved Cold Tea, this New York-inspired bar is a game-changer -literally, merging cocktails and craft beer with shuffleboard and bocce. --- HOUSE RULES: @ http://www.trackandfieldbar.com/new-page-1/ and pasted here for convenience. BOCCE BALL Refill drink and hold in non-throwing hand. Form 2 teams of 2 or 4 players. One team tosses the small white ball - 'the pallino' - down the court. The same player tosses the first bocce ball. Teams alternate tossing bocce balls, trying to get closest to the pallino or knock the opponents' balls away. The closest team scores points for each ball closer than the opposing team's balls. The first team to 7 points wins! SHUFFLEBOARD Refill drink and form 2 teams of 2 or 4 players. Players use the cues to slide discs alternately starting with yellow. Players aim to push their own discs into the scoring area, or knock opponents' discs out of play (or into the 10-OFF area). Any disc that lands before the scoring triangle (neutral zone) is immediately removed from play. After all 8 discs have been played, discs in each scoring section of the triangle are added up to make a score. A scoring disc must NOT touch any lines within the scoring triangle. Each disc in the 10-OFF zone is -10 points (yes, you can get a negative score in shuffleboard!) The first team to reach 30 points wins! CROKINOLE Refill drink and form 2 teams of 2 or 4 players. Each team will have equal discs of different colours. To shoot, place the disc on the board at the 'starting line'. Each player will shoot discs only from within their particular quadrant of the board. The first player will try to shoot their disc into the centre '20' hole. If it successfully lands in the hole, the disc is removed and set aside to count as 20 points at the end of the round. If it does not land in the '20' hole, the next player must shoot at that opposing disc in an effort to knock it into the ditch. If a player does not hit the opposing player's disc, their disc is immediately removed and placed in the 'ditch'. Players alternate shooting their discs until all discs have been played. When all discs have been played, each disc in a scoring area is added up (any disc touching the lines separating each scoring area is counted at the lesser value). The difference of the count between players or teams is the score for that round. The first team to reach 100 points wins!

This place was dope. It would've been even doper if it had an actual running track inside haha. However, to compensate for that, they have a big space to play games - and not the usual pool and darts you see at a regular bar. Came here for the cocktails, stayed for the bocci ball. There was a decent amount of people during the random weekend afternoon that I came in, not too loud though, very chill environment...oh and the music! I loved whatever playlist they had going on - 2000s hip hop was giving me life!

These tables are simple but fun!!

This place was super fun!!! Love the vibe, drinks, and games. All three games were fun, including the table one. It was pretty easy to play the free lanes , we were able to put our names on the list a couple of times. Would definitely come back. Great place to chill and/or be active with a fun group of ppl!

This place is awesome. We came here for my birthday after going to a bar nearby for dinner. The place is quite spacious. And no, to answer your question there is no track to run your beer mile or alcohol fuelled marathon. (Run responsibly people!l) This place does have two lanes of people sized shuffle board lanes along with two lanes of mini-golf type carpet for this curling kinda game. How to play this carpet type of game: essentially you split into teams of two (blue and red). You begin the game by throwing the golf ball the other end. You then take turns in trying to get the ball as close to the golf ball as possible. You have to book your lanes in order to use them. It was pretty fun. But what about the drinks? They were good with the best names. I mean Versace Versace Versace and the Old Kayne. The bar definitely kept it One Hunnid with their unique glasses. The music overall was good as well. The one downside was that in the summer, it can get pretty stuffy in there. It wasn't too crowded on a Saturday night and was relatively easy to get drinks. Safe to say, I miss the Old Kanye. If you are looking for something different then this is the bar to go to.

Definitely something new and exciting to do in the city. The idea behind this place is pretty cool and the whole vibe of the place works very well. The place is pretty small, but big enough to not be crammed. There's a decent sized bar, a dance floor, several tables and standing tables and game pads/lawn pads for the bocce and shuffleboard games. You have to reserve your spot at a certain time, so arrive earlier in the night if playing a game on bocce/shuffleboard is on your mind! The drinks from the bar were really good. I tried several and the tender mixed them very well. Food can be ordered from outside, yup, you can call dominos and they will deliver. Around 1 am, the place got packed and the DJ was playing some solid beats. Place was bumping. Will definitely return!

    The game lanes

We stumbled upon this bar randomly and was surprised to see their game lanes at the entrance of the bar. "Is this really a bar?" We questioned ourselves. Good thing there's a full bar and many tables for us who are there to get intoxicated. The menu has the regular beer/hard liquor/cocktails. I tried their cocktail on the tap - nice tea, which actually tasted quite strong. We stayed to watch guests play a couple round of the games. They are all kinda similar to curling and seemed quite fun to play as a group. There's a line system going on and the bar gets busy after 11pm. It's a fun and hipster place that I might bring friends to in the future if we are looking for something different. :)

order the Versace Versace Versace and you will have be tipped by the bartender with a $100 bill artfully wrapped around your order

Great staff and you can order outside food, have it delivered. The games were overpriced but the music and ambiance made up for it.

This bottle shop has a unique variety of natural, organic, and biodynamic wines that may rotate depending on the season. The space also has a wine bar where you can try different wines by the glass or treat yourself in a wine flight or a whole bottle. The by the glass menu changes weekly where you get to have a chance to try new and exciting wines from different regions. I've been to Grape Witches several times but I was able to sit down at their wine bar this time and enjoy a wine flight (three 1oz pours featuring wines from Germany) and a glass of wine. Having the wine flight, I was able to find a new rose that I really enjoyed that I ended up getting a glass of it afterwards. Staff are extremely friendly, personable, and knowledgeable about wine where they can give you suggestions based on your preferences without being pretentious. You are also able to taste any wines you're interested in on the menu to see if you like them as well. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Grape Witches enjoying the delicious selections where I even found new favourites. Overall, a great new wine shop and bar at Waterworks Food Hall. If you love all things wine this is the place to go. They have unique bottles you can purchase and friendly staff to help you with selecting your wines. Will definitely be back to try other glasses of wine in the future!

The experience was a bit of a mixed bag. The staff seemed to be upselling throughout our visit, including recommending bottles that were above the budget we had shared. We also weren't informed about the corkage fee ahead of time, which came as an unwelcome surprise. Overall, it was an okay experience, but I wish there had been a bit more transparency and less sales pressure.

Yogurt drizzled throughout lends gentle tang and creaminess, while pomegranate seeds punctuate each bite with bursts of tart sweetness. Tamarind-date drizzle and coriander chutney tie everything together into an addictive interplay of sweet, sour, earthy, herbaceous, and savory notes. The Crudo contrasts the former with mellow acidity, mint, dill and fish roe to elevate the thinly sliced snapper, and if looks can kill, they can certainly enamorate. The highlight was the Roast Chicken though, remaining juicy and tender throughout. Coated in a fragrant, earthy spice blend that upgrades rather than masks the chicken's natural umami. The apple slaw on the side adds a refreshing dimension, but I would've preferred more acidity among the mix of apples, onion, tomato, cucumber and cilantro. However, the accompanying sauce redeemed the dish, enriched with chicken drippings, yogurt and spices that's reminiscent of a lighter, savory butter chicken gravy. Finally, the short ribs are braised until the meat slips freely off the bone, deeply aromatic and laden with fat that easily melts on the palate. Its mild seasoning forces focus onto the meat, with some vegetable components bulking out the broth underneath. So if next time something's bugging you, come to Ladybug to relax.

However place fell apart with the food - the shrimp came with 5 medium sized shrimp with the tails, legs and shells on and were under seasoned. The artichokes were mediocre (loved the sauce they came with). Worst of all was the "Ontario peaches" with the burrata were totally canned peaches - could've even been dole brand! This place has amazing potential with the location and vibe - but the food just was not it. Small portions and the price didn't match what was served. The service was friendly but nothing too crazy. Our server was great at helping us pick our wine, he mentioned that their wines are all on the dry side which is perfect for me, I'm not one for sweet wines. We also had two of their small plates the mussels and the burrata. The mussels tasted great with the sauce, a little garlicky which I prefer. The combination of the peach and mint went really well with the burrata. Light and easy to eat. The patio at night is one of the highlights. The only small complaint was it did take a while to get our wine after we ordered it and a little while to get our check. Otherwise cute spot.

They have some non-alcoholic beers too which is nice. Inside has that cool vintage hipster Berlin feel to it. No cover, no lineups, just a nice local neighbourhood bar near the bridge and a bunch of other autoshops. Was walking back from an art gallery and we just literally stumbled upon it and sat down for a catch up drink. I feel like Toronto needs more places like this. Quiet neighborhood bars with a nice selection of music, quality cocktails, not too expensive, no lines ups. Nice slightly mature place for people to catch up and have a drink without having to venture heavily into the Dundas West bar scene where it's way more hectic. Probably fits like 20 people so it's nice and intimate. Kind of reminds me of some of the bottle shops in Montreal where you can either drink it there and vibe or take it to the park right next to it. Place has some character to it. Would like to see it have a good solid run in Toronto's independent bar scene and be supported by the neighborhood. Next time I'm back I'll try out the cocktail menu and see if that's fire too.
