Carmel roll and coffee with a view of Lake Superior!
    Josh D.

Great coffee - better baked goods! My caramel roll was absolutely doused in caramel. Wouldn't have it any other way! Microwave in the space let me reheat it to the perfect temp twice (ha - I'm a slow eater). Cool that you can see the lake through the trees. I bet that patio is beautiful during the warmer months!

The bakery items we chose (raspberry danish and cinnamon twist) were very good. Disappointed to see when we came in that they didn't have a great selection of bakery items. We've heard a lot of good things about their caramel roll, which was completely out at 8am. The barista was nice. The inside of the cafe was super cute. The coffee was not my favorite, so I think I'd try something else if I came back.

Very nice little cafe conveniently located right off Hwy 61. Great northwoods decor and vibe. Service was good. Order an omelette. Everything was perfect, including the hashbrowns and bacon. They serve Duluth Company Coffee which was also excellent. The bakery items looked delicious, but trying to loose weight.

Servers were nice and prices were pretty affordable. The food was amazing! 10/10 would recommend the club sandwich. my only complaint was that the shop was a bit chilly and I had to keep my coat on while I ate. Overall very happy and would come here again!

Aimee and I stopped in for lunch after climbing Eagle Mountain, the highest point in MN. Aimee had the Reuben - it was delicious, came with pickles and chips. I had the grillen chicken sandwich spicy, with carmelized onions; also good. Great view of Lake Superior from the dining room, and the cafe' had a nice feel. We were there off-season, so it was quiet, as was the town. Such a pretty ride up, and Eagle Mountain was worth the climb. Drove by the iron ore processing plant, which brought up Gordon Lightfoots' "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald'. Given that it was late November and a storm was approaching, it was very apt. All in all, a good lunch; there are other options there we'd like to try before we go back.

Sweet little cafe in Tofte near Lutsen! One of the few cafe options in the area, so it's typically pretty busy for breakfast into lunch and you may catch a line and a wait. They offer some nice breakfast and lunch options in a casual setting. We waited about 15 minutes in line to order, but once in, our food was out to us in 10 minutes. Our table got the breakfast sandwich, Turkey club, and clam chowder - some of the bread was fresh baked which was lovely! The chips were too stale to enjoy. The gluten free cookie for dessert was delicious! There are a handful of indoor tables, and then some on the outdoor patio as well during the warmer months! Again, anticipate a wait for a table during the busy hours. One of your few options for cafe breakfast/lunch and a coffee nearby, and they do a pretty good job!

We've been coming to Coho for years and their pastries and food is consistently very good, however if ordering food don't plan on a quick trip, two days in a row the food took forever and the last day we waiting 50 min for a breakfast burrito.

Potato skillet and dos estilos omelette. So delicious!

Quaint little cafe in Lutsen, MN with a lot of character. We walked in at around 8:45am on a weekday and there was a line of about 7-8 people ahead of us. A testament to how popular the place was. The restaurant has places to sit and eat but the format is to order at the counter and take your table number for the servers to bring your food. It took some time to get through the line but once it was moving, it was smooth sailing. I ordered the poached egg potato skillet and my husband got the dos estilos omelette. Both were so delicious! We also split a cinnamon roll (not as sweet as traditional cinnamon rolls but still good) and we got coffees as well. The coffees weren't as sweet either but nothing a little sugar can't fix! Absolutely loved the food. It was better than expected and very comparable to food in the Twin Cities. The server who offered my daughter a high chair was very accommodating and kind. I'll definitely stop in again when I am in Lutsen ! Only docked a star for the slow moving line in the morning. However, the food came out quickly (within 10 mins after we ordered) so overall it was a great experience!

My husband and I stopped in to Cascade Restaurant 2 separate times during our weekend trip up to Lutsen. The restaurant was conveniently located 5 minutes from our lodging- Thomsonite Inn. When you first enter, you grab a menu, sit wherever is open, and order at the register which is a different set-up but worked well for them. Our 1st visit, I ordered the seafood chowder and fried chicken dinner which were both phenomenal. Every spoonful of the chowder was filled with clams and fish. The portion size of the extra crispy fried chicken fed me for 2 nights. I left there so satisfied! When we came back for breakfast, I had another delicious meal of the avocado toast with balsamic glaze. I would definitely come back here for the delicious food next time we road trip up North again.

I personally chose VEGGIE OMELETTE with home fries/sourdough bread. The plate was decently sized. This is a good breakfast option. The omelette wasn't too fancy, but had all that it needed. The home fries were super crispy & well seasoned. I also loved that they had a sourdough bread option. Everything was well made/decently priced and is a great quick sit-down breakfast option in town.

We decided to visit after a light lunch for some additional snacks on an early Tuesday afternoon and this place was not busy at all. I think there was only a single other party inside other than us - this is definitely more of a dinner and evening establishment. Cheese Curds ($12) - An order comes with a small pile of perfectly battered and fried cheese curds. The batter kind of sticks multiple curds together into clusters, but the glue comes only from the batter, not from the cheese. None of them leak out or are gooey at all. Instead, the interior is warmed through and only melted a bit, allowing the firm texture of the cheese curd to come through. It's even slightly squeaky from how fresh they are. They have a good light crisp on the exterior and great overall texture. The curds come with a side dip that's sweet, fruity, and slightly smoky. I'm usually fan of a fruity or acidic side to balance out how fatty the fried cheese is, but I don't think this one requires the sauce at all. (4/5) Bread ($2) - This is essentially an extra order of bread for the Voyageur Picnic Board. Luckily we were able to order these as a side. And they were totally not worth it. An order includes 5 slices of a small baguette-style bread that's really dense and chewy. It's served cold and tastes completely like dough conditioner - think cheap grocery store-style bread. It honestly is so strong of a taste that I don't believe that it's homemade at all - and if it's homemade, it's one of the worst homemade breads I've ever eaten. It's clearly not meant to be eaten by itself. I can't help but think we were dumb to visit specifically for the bread. Considering this is not on the actual menu and we had to special order it, I'm going to pretend this doesn't exist and not include it in my final rating. (1/5) Again, we don't drink at all, so I can't comment on the quality of the beer served at Voyageur Brewing Company. I did quite like the cheese curds, so I'll be leaving this as a 4* review.
