Carmel roll and coffee with a view of Lake Superior!
    Josh D.

Great coffee - better baked goods! My caramel roll was absolutely doused in caramel. Wouldn't have it any other way! Microwave in the space let me reheat it to the perfect temp twice (ha - I'm a slow eater). Cool that you can see the lake through the trees. I bet that patio is beautiful during the warmer months!

The bakery items we chose (raspberry danish and cinnamon twist) were very good. Disappointed to see when we came in that they didn't have a great selection of bakery items. We've heard a lot of good things about their caramel roll, which was completely out at 8am. The barista was nice. The inside of the cafe was super cute. The coffee was not my favorite, so I think I'd try something else if I came back.

Very nice little cafe conveniently located right off Hwy 61. Great northwoods decor and vibe. Service was good. Order an omelette. Everything was perfect, including the hashbrowns and bacon. They serve Duluth Company Coffee which was also excellent. The bakery items looked delicious, but trying to loose weight.

Servers were nice and prices were pretty affordable. The food was amazing! 10/10 would recommend the club sandwich. my only complaint was that the shop was a bit chilly and I had to keep my coat on while I ate. Overall very happy and would come here again!

Aimee and I stopped in for lunch after climbing Eagle Mountain, the highest point in MN. Aimee had the Reuben - it was delicious, came with pickles and chips. I had the grillen chicken sandwich spicy, with carmelized onions; also good. Great view of Lake Superior from the dining room, and the cafe' had a nice feel. We were there off-season, so it was quiet, as was the town. Such a pretty ride up, and Eagle Mountain was worth the climb. Drove by the iron ore processing plant, which brought up Gordon Lightfoots' "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald'. Given that it was late November and a storm was approaching, it was very apt. All in all, a good lunch; there are other options there we'd like to try before we go back.

Sweet little cafe in Tofte near Lutsen! One of the few cafe options in the area, so it's typically pretty busy for breakfast into lunch and you may catch a line and a wait. They offer some nice breakfast and lunch options in a casual setting. We waited about 15 minutes in line to order, but once in, our food was out to us in 10 minutes. Our table got the breakfast sandwich, Turkey club, and clam chowder - some of the bread was fresh baked which was lovely! The chips were too stale to enjoy. The gluten free cookie for dessert was delicious! There are a handful of indoor tables, and then some on the outdoor patio as well during the warmer months! Again, anticipate a wait for a table during the busy hours. One of your few options for cafe breakfast/lunch and a coffee nearby, and they do a pretty good job!

We've been coming to Coho for years and their pastries and food is consistently very good, however if ordering food don't plan on a quick trip, two days in a row the food took forever and the last day we waiting 50 min for a breakfast burrito.

Potato skillet and dos estilos omelette. So delicious!

Quaint little cafe in Lutsen, MN with a lot of character. We walked in at around 8:45am on a weekday and there was a line of about 7-8 people ahead of us. A testament to how popular the place was. The restaurant has places to sit and eat but the format is to order at the counter and take your table number for the servers to bring your food. It took some time to get through the line but once it was moving, it was smooth sailing. I ordered the poached egg potato skillet and my husband got the dos estilos omelette. Both were so delicious! We also split a cinnamon roll (not as sweet as traditional cinnamon rolls but still good) and we got coffees as well. The coffees weren't as sweet either but nothing a little sugar can't fix! Absolutely loved the food. It was better than expected and very comparable to food in the Twin Cities. The server who offered my daughter a high chair was very accommodating and kind. I'll definitely stop in again when I am in Lutsen ! Only docked a star for the slow moving line in the morning. However, the food came out quickly (within 10 mins after we ordered) so overall it was a great experience!

They have coffee mugs of locals hung on the walls, vintage photos and news clippings, and incredible northern decor. We came in on a Monday afternoon in fall and ordered: - biscuits and gravy: my husband LOVED this - omelette with hash browns: delicious and crispy I expected bigger portions for the price, so was a bit disappointed in that as we were ready for a filling hearty brunch! The service was funny - our server must have been bored and really wanted to chat us up, which we didn't mind. I'd love to see this place more busy and more folks to know about it! We were the only ones in at that time. They also sell some convenience store items like OTC meds, non perishables, dry goods, etc. They also carry some local products and tourist goods. Right around the time we were considering leaving, the owner walked by and told us we had to stand in a line against a wall in order to be seated for breakfast. (Other than her directions, nothing indicated us to do so) After sitting down and receiving our water and coffee (coffee that was nearly $5 and never refilled) we ordered our food. Pancakes and a breakfast burrito, each around $16. When the food arrived we received what appeared to be a tiny gas station burrito and four smaller pancakes with a little tub of lukewarm syrup. We both left hungry. I understand food and material goods can cost more in less populous places, but either portions should have been larger, or the price should be lower. Prices might be more reasonable for lunch, but for breakfast I highly suggest you go somewhere else! We had just gotten breakfast in Two Harbors the day before at Ruby's Cafe and ordered similar items. Coffee was better and refilled more often. The prices were lower and the portions were much larger, filling the entire plate and our stomachs. As someone who has driven across the US, this is one of very few local restaurants that I regret spending any money at.

There was even a tray of donuts called "Chet's Best" (I learned that is the name of the proprietor's father - and mine too). I chose the Skizzle (basically fried dough dipped in sugar) and a Cinnamon pull-apart. The Skizzle definitely was a contender for one of the best donuts I have ever tasted.
