Runnings was the best, but when I was in Country Max I noticed they had bulk cat litter for 33¢ a pound. So I started buying that from there. During the Winter months I noticed they were low on product and didn't have any bags for customer use to put the litter in. At the front desk, the clerk paged someone as to where the bags were and she said to give me bird seed bags instead because they were out. They never have bags for the litter. Last month, I called to find out when there shipment of bulk litter would be in. "Thursday", I was told. I went Friday morning and they didn't have any. "But I was told your shipment would be in yesterday. Are you telling me you sold it all?" "Oh, are fork lift got stuck so we used it for traction under the tires." "Did it work?", I asked. "No, hee hee", she giggled. This month, another Friday, another phone call to make sure they had the bulk litter in stock ("Yes"), I drove there to refill my bird seed bags only to find the barrel it's kept in, empty. To the front desk, "Where's the bulk cat litter so are suppose to have?" "Are fork lift broke a hydraulic hose and we used it all to absorb all the fluid that leaked out of it." Well with that I went to Walmart and bought their brand of cat litter. Yes I paid more, but I know when I run low again, I'm sure Walmart won't be pulling product off the shelves to keep their bald tired fork lift trucks moving that are puking hydraulic fluid, if they have any.

This was not a minor issue -- it was a dangerous, life-threatening failure directly tied to the unit they serviced. We were notified of the incident on Monday and I contacted the company that same day and was told we would hear back. By Tuesday morning, there had been no follow-up, so we physically went to the business to speak with the owner. The response was dismissive. We were told he hadn't spoken with his business partner yet and that "they had trucks and pallets to unload" -- apparently a heater exploding in an occupied home is not a top priority. We even offered to have them come out and inspect the heater themselves, and they declined and wanted nothing to do with it. When we calmly asked that they contact their insurance company to begin the claims process, we were told it "wasn't their problem" and were hung up on. You would think hiring a licensed contractor would prevent something like this, but clearly that was not the case. Instead of urgency, accountability, or concern for safety, we were met with excuses and disregard. I will be pursuing this matter further. If this is how they handle a life-threatening failure directly tied to their own work, that should be a serious red flag for anyone else considering utilizing their services.

He eats a special kind of kibble that I buy at a specialty store here in Boise. Ok, it's not like special special, but it's a better kind for him vs the ones you'd get at like a Walmart. This brand is definitely not available at stores like that, grocery stores etc. Country Max had the brand, but not the kind I needed for little Alfred. I did however!!! find some other things for him. First I'll start with the store and its layout. It's definitely one of those homey type farm type stores. It has all kinds of things for animals, outdoor things for humans, plants, trees, all the stuff. I guess it's like a Home Depot but thankfully not a big box store that's corporately owned/operated. I know of 2 locations in that area of NY. Not sure if that's the only two, but if so, that gives you an idea that it's not an annoying mainstream store. You'd think...smaller, privately owned and operated store...prices must be higher. Not even. I was genuinely shocked at how much I didn't spend there haha. My little Alfred (he's a yorkie) loves loves loves bully sticks! Sure, some times he acts stuck up and I'll give him one, he will chew it for a min and come right up to me expecting another lol I used to give him bully sticks when he was a tiny baby bc they're good for their teeth and he was a ... well, he was a difficult little puppy lol. Bully sticks were a GOD. SEND. Give him one and he was occupied for hours. So now...he loves them and he's super spoiled and acts super spoiled especially when he knows I have a bunch of them haha! Having my mom check there regularly when she's in the area haha! Back to the store. Nice layout. Perfectly lit, very clean. Everything is nicely displayed. There really is no problems finding anything. They have a fish section in the back. Made me happy to see. So many stores growing up always had them...like the big box stores haha! They obviously...no longer ... don't haha. So when you go into a nice little store like this, it's cool to see they still exist. Prices again throughout are very reasonable. They even have bulk treats for dogs. My little man loves these doggie cheezits. They have them. Random info, but it's the little things that make me happy haha. Staff is very very friendly. I was asked a couple times if I needed help. Rarely see that anymore or you go into a store (like Apple for example) and have 30 people ask you if you need help back to back. Glad this store exists. I've been in the past. I went here years ago with my last yorkie and they carried the food he was eating at the time. They have a great selection of dog foods. Some, forgive me for repeating myself, some you won't find at big box stores. Foods that are actually better for your pups....if you're a kibble person. My puppy was sitting still for a long enough period of time but "Santa" was getting all the pictures for her phone instead. Pretty bummed about it tbh, this is the better petsmart in the area.
