From the moment the evening began, the staff demonstrated remarkable professionalism and coordination. The pacing of the service was especially impressive given the size of the event, with dishes delivered and cleared efficiently while still maintaining an elegant and relaxed atmosphere throughout the evening. Dinner began with a thoughtfully prepared first course featuring artisan lettuce, toasted cashews, dry-aged Vermont goat cheese, dried blueberries, yam frites, and a maple vinaigrette that balanced the dish beautifully. The entrée consisted of beef tenderloin paired with a scallop and lobster tail brochette, accompanied by a spring medley of fresh peas, haricots verts, fava beans, asparagus, and snow peas alongside a honey-ricotta potato terrine. The presentation was refined and visually striking, but more importantly, every element of the dish was executed exceptionally well. Dessert concluded the evening on a high note with chocolate Hampton fudge cake accompanied by honey gelato served in a chocolate shell. It was imaginative, elegant, and delivered the perfect finish to a memorable meal. Beyond the exceptional dining experience, the evening carried a strong sense of maritime tradition and history. Ceremonial elements including the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Honor Guard and the ringing of the Ship's Bell honoring members lost during the past year added dignity and meaning to the occasion, serving as a reminder of the deep heritage and fellowship that continues to define the Boston Marine Society after nearly three centuries. The evening was further elevated by live entertainment from GQ and the Lady, whose performance added warmth, energy, and sophistication to an already memorable occasion. Overall, it was a wonderful evening hosted at a truly outstanding venue in downtown Boston -- an experience that blended exceptional hospitality, refined dining, maritime tradition, and celebration into a night we will remember for years to come.

It's also walking distance from the train station, which was very convenient for us since we traveled in from New York by train. We were pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary upgrade to a suite, which was perfect for our family of four with two kids. The extra space made our stay much more comfortable. The club lounge was a highlight. The food was consistently fresh and plentiful, and the staff there were genuinely kind and attentive. Our kids especially loved making their hot chocolate every morning, and there was an Indian gentleman working there who was especially sweet--he always made sure they had marshmallows, which they looked forward to every day. I really wish I had remembered his name. We also did s'mores at the hotel, which was a fun and memorable experience for the kids. I wish we had time to use the pool, I kept hearing great things about it from other families. My only and biggest complaint was the beds and pillows. They were extremely soft, and unfortunately we all woke up with neck and back pain, including the kids. That was the one downside of an otherwise very comfortable stay. Overall, the rooms were kept very clean, the service was excellent, and the amenities were great. Despite the bedding issue, we would definitely stay here again.

Never tried out this chain despite living in the area for over a decade, so when an out of town…read morefriend came to visit and enthused about it based on hearsay, could not say no. Turns out, it's about what you can expect from this type of chain: good service, very pleasant ambiance...and thoroughly mediocre, overpriced food. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it came directly from Sysco. Previously I had tried the "Legal Seafoods Clam Chowder" sold at Costco, and found it to be very so-so compared to the "Captain Parker's" version sold at Market Basket. I was hoping the in-restaurant version would be much better. Wrong. Probably the most appalling thing about the food here were the fries, which come with most of the dishes unless you specifically ask for a substitute. I was glad that I did, because when I tasted my friend's fries, they were just about the most dry, bland, doughy-like frozen fries you could imagine. Only thing you can do with fries like that is to oversalt the bejesus out of them, and drown them in ketchup. Best thing we (party of 4) had was the Steak Salad---but when the menu says "petit sirloin" you dang better believe they MEAN "petit," lol ... it was about 3-4 mouthfuls tops! Really more of an appetizer worth $15 at most, not the $28 normal entree pricing. Fish and chips were particularly dismal---the fish was tasteless, most likely frozen just like the horrible fries. I've had better fish and chips from humble diner type places like Mike's Roast Beef in Everett, for Chrissakes. Hell, even Friendly's Fish and Chips doesn't seem that bad in comparison, lol. Swordfish and trout were somewhat less bad, but also suffered from the avalanche of cardboard fries. Anyways, now I know: I wasn't missing anything all these years.
