I've admired Tracy's work for a long time and when I had a reason to get some photos done - she was my first thought! Here's my example, when Sylwia was doing my eyeliner - it was "way funky" from my everyday look, and I was a little worried. So, I showed up at Tracy's studio and judging from her reaction, she didn't seem worried at all, so I went with it a little longer and tried to play it cool. Decided to get some professional shots of my daughter. I really wasn't sure how this was going to turn out. She's two years old after all. I told Tracy that she's in her best mood in the morning. She agreed to meet me at 9 am at her home. She has a studio in her home as well as an amazing backyard that has great backdrops for natural light photos. She suggested I bring her favorite toys and multiple outfits....basically everything that she liked and she would just pick out what would look good. I brought helium filled balloons, fresh flowers, and toys. She picked about 5 different looks and made each one look like a different photo shoot. We even went down to the beach that was about a mile from her home to shoot one of the outfits. Boy oh boy was she good with kids. My daughter is incredibly shy and I just couldn't imagine her warming up to anyone well enough to get great pictures. It took about 15-20 minutes, and my daughter was actually comfortable. By the end of the shoot which was about two and a half hours later, my daughter was having conversations with her. You're lucky to get a glance let alone a whole conversation with my daughter. She's that shy! I was quite impressed with the variety of backgrounds her house had. Equally impressive was her ability to catch moments of pure joy from my daughter. She really hammed it up during the shoot to get great pictures from her. The only downside to booking her is time. Not only does she teach photography, but she also does photography for charity as well aside from her normally busy schedule. This extremely long review is written for the person who is hemming and hawing about 1) whether to take a professional headshot and/or 2) can't decide which photographer to choose. Taking my headshot was something that had been on my to-do list for an embarrassingly long time. There were always reasons to put it off, including being too busy, not knowing what photographer to work with, or wondering if I should just ask a friend to do it instead. Also, I'm self-employed which means that me/my business would be covering the cost of the photos and not some corporate expense account. I decided to finally turn to Yelp to find out who does the best headshots. I was immediately drawn to Tracy because she had such high and consistently positive reviews and her website was clean and professional. There were dozens of examples of photos she had taken, including quite a few people I recognized. I opted for the "Entrepreneur" package that included two retouched headshots--one business/formal, one casual. I paid for the session upfront on her website and she contacted me the next day to confirm that my desired appointment date was available. Tracy's in-home studio is professionally set up (with amazing air-conditioning, thankfully) and she coaches you to get a great shot. Surprisingly, it's not as easy as just sitting down on a stool and smiling! She'll sit down with you to review the photos taken and helps you to narrow down your choices based on what's important to you, what image you're trying to project, what will inspire confidence in clients, etc. As a small business owner herself, I felt she really understood what my needs were and cared about ensuring that I got specifically what I wanted. Ultimately, you get decide what your final two photos will be. The final photos arrived back to me FAST. Like, two-or-three-business-days-later fast. If I had known that the turnaround would be that quick, I probably would have done this a LOT sooner. Overall, this is a complete five-star experience. and you get what you pay for. While it's not as cheap as buying your aspiring-photographer friend a six pack in exchange for pictures, the value and return on investment makes the cost more than worth it. For me, I know I'll use these photos for at least three years and they help my current and prospective clients to see me in a more professional light. Working with Tracy was a DREAM. I have felt awkward in front of the camera my entire life, so naturally I was kind of nervous about getting professional lifestyle headshots done for my business.
