I went in for estradiol pellets to help relieve a few menopause symptoms. At a later visit, while describing new symptoms, Dr. Rastegar discovered and acknowledged she had forgotten to prescribe progesterone, which is a necessary part of this procedure. She inserted another estrogen pellet before addressing the issue, and added a prescription for progesterone. Once I started taking the progesterone, for the next few months I experienced heavy bleeding and painful cramping, ultimately requiring an ultrasound at my own expense that showed a thickened uterine lining, which is a documented result of receiving estradiol without progesterone. When I raised concerns about the prolonged bleeding, discomfort, and the initial oversight, the response was dismissive and framed as "just a risk of HRT". Dr. Rastegar held no accountability of her oversight, nor did she offer meaningful support. Hormone therapy requires careful management and follow-up. That standard was not met in my case, and I want other women to be fully informed before seeking similar treatment here.

As a displaced teacher, it is crucial to be available so they will call you again in the future. Rinnova charged me for these late cancellations, which was okay. I understood they were not able to fill that slot regardless of what had gone awry for me. It was a short string of bad luck when I've never had issues with coming to my appts there in the past. For my last appt, they told me it would be no problem to reschedule but that if I canceled one more time then they would not be able to book me in the future. I of course understood this to be the agreement and so I accepted the substitute teaching job for the day and rescheduled, and honored our agreement. Everything seemed fine. I just tried to schedule the same procedure a year later. I intentionally waited until summer so that any substitute teaching assignments would not conflict. After booking my appt, Rinnova called me to say I am not welcome at their business any longer, despite having come to the last appt. It is so disappointing to see a business not be understanding about two conflicts due to covid and the plight of a displaced educator. I honored our verbal agreement which they proposed, and they retracted it a year later; and over the phone, made me feel embarrassed and shamed for it.

I have been holding back on writing a review, but I know it's something I have to do to protect…read moresomeone from having a similar nightmare happen to their skin. I have taken excellent care of my skin despite a 10 yr smoking and tanning habit. At 30, I still had "baby skin," smooth, mostly poreless, with only a few faint fine lines. For my 30th birthday, I decided to get my first real chemical peel to help with some of the fine lines underneath my eyes. What ensued was a complete disaster with repercussions I am still facing each day 7 months later. The peel damaged my skin 10x more than 10 years of smoking and tanning combined. I have no idea why I was advised to do the medium strength Vitalize peel when I had never done a peel before, or why I was instructed to leave the peel on for 24 hours when the instruction sheet I was sent home with says 7-8 hours. Ironically, the peel didn't even touch the under eye aria I wanted to target. The peel began with the most painful extractions I had ever experienced, to the point that I was literally crying. Many of the extractions turned into permanent dents and scars. The recovery process was incredibly painful and the pain lasted for weeks. I decided I would never do a peel again before I witnessed the extent of the damage. Inflammation damages your skin in the same way that the sun does, activating the same enzymes that destroy the collagen/elastin supportive framework of the skin. As soon as my first patch of skin peeled off, I saw huge enlarged pores and had huge pores all over my previously poreless forehead, as well as my upper lip, which now has a large pore mustache. My nose and cheeks are covered in enlarged pores 2-3x the size of what they were before. They are also very clogged since I have no way to exfoliate or use AHA/BHA, as I previously did faithfully. My skin became so sensitive that I still can not use Vitamin A, C, E or do any exfoliation whatsoever. My entire skincare routine got turned upside down and I had to give away over $500 worth of products and have probably spent over $1000 trying to find things that didn't burn my face. Even rosewater and rosehip oil burns. My pores enlarged so much that they collapsed to form lines, thumbprint like swirls and dents all over and I sometimes see new random dents and scars pop up since the cascade of inflammation continues to destroy my collagen framework. My previously beautiful smooth forehead is so rough and lined, it actually looks like elephant skin in one spot. I will sadly need to cut bangs. I probably should of reported this sooner, but honestly I'm not sure what they could of done other than give me a facelift, as at this point, pulling the skin taut seems to be the only way to get some of the lines and dents out of my skin. This is ridiculous as I am only 30 and am STILL mistaken for 20, that is before anyone gets a closer look at my skin, especially the forehead which I am constantly hiding under hats and my hair. This has been SO incredibly traumatic, to the point that I feel like I have PTSD. I have to avoid looking at my skin in certain lighting or I will feel so traumatized and distraught for days. The thing is, every other esthetician I've talked to doesn't even know why they would do a strong chemical peel on my previously beautiful skin, or why they didn't start with a gentler peel and to work my way up to the strength which I truthfully didn't need to begin with. I fear the damage is permanent. It consumed my life for months and in my research I have found many others who have had these disastrous results from overzealous miconeedling, lasers, chemical peels and even the use of Retin-A and AHA/BHA. I encourage you to look up "orange peel skin" alongside whatever procedure you are thinking of having and see for yourself the potential risks. I've been struggling to find peace and meaning though all of this. I will be creating my own skincare line eventually, out of both passion and necessity since it's nearly impossible to find products that work, let alone help. Wishing you better luck!

Pretty quickly I discovered I needed something to help me extend the life of my guacamole ingredients. Enter in Food Huggers. Bamboo Tongs - Oh man. I love these. I've been using plastic tongs for my bacon because the honey won't let me use metal on his non-stick pans. They are exactly everything I didn't know I needed. Multicolor Organic Hair Ties - I have been coveting KooShoo ties for a few months but my local low waste company only carried the brown color and I have mostly stuck to metal clips in 2020. But recently I have been definitely missing my ponytails. First impression? Kooshoo hair ties seem to run small out of the box. As in, they feel overly tight or overly loose. I have some of the KooShoo scrunchies coming from another low waste company so I'll know better then (they may need to be stretched out some) but still, I quite like the rainbow colors and they're fully compostable. Little Bird In Ear Headphones - Again, you may notice Earth Hero isn't totally plastic free. These headphones are made of recycled plastic. I haven't had a chance to really try put them through their paces. I definitely don't like their shape as much as the Panasonic ErgoFit Earbuds that are my go-to through Amazon, but as backup headphones, the sound quality doesn't seem too bad. Heavy Duty Callous Balm - Because we work from home now we've noticed our feeties just get a bit more dry, especially during the winter. I love the smell of this balm and right away noticed it does help keep my skin more moisturized during the day. Kid Kanteen Sippy Beach Bum Water Bottle 12oz - I have never found a replacement for my awesome travel collapsible canteen I lost in 2018, but had heard really great things about Klean Kanteen from a vegan Youtuber I watch. I love the color palate (mint green) and it has a built in handle I can use a carabiner to attach to my bag. Even though it's marked as a "child" I honestly think it's the perfect size because I always find larger canteens to be too bulky for my hands. Refillable Peppermint Hand Sanitizer 2.5oz - I actually don't know that I like this. I love the container, which is partly why I bought it, since we get hand sanitizer from a low waste company locally, but the smell is - yeah, like putting peppermint extract on your hands. It's a lot. Gold Paper Gift Ribbon - I love this. Straight up. Normally I just wrap any gifts with fabric and end up buying ribbon at JoAnns, but this ribbon is recyclable and compostable and it is just so stinkin cute. It was so easy to spread out and made just absolutely beautiful bows. Honestly, it was so much easier to use than normal ribbon so I don't think I am ever going back. Overall, I found EarthHero to be a company I would likely consistently buy things from. Their website was great to use and I found so many items I ended up making a second purchase. The quality wasn't as sturdy as Well Earth Goods, but they carried more products I would actually need and use day to day. All in all, I'm very pleased with my purchases and would buy from again.

I am someone who really appreciates a good massage, and have tried out manny masseuses at resorts, in Boulder, etc. Kira is unparalleled. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND adding 10 minutes of meditation to the start of every massage. It's always been a low cost, and it puts me in the perfect head space for deep relaxation. Many people think of meditation as something that you can only do silently and alone, but having a guided meditation with Kira always relaxes my body and mind perfectly for the massage to come. Also, Kira is great at seamlessly transitioning into the massage. My mind is always well rested by the time the massage starts, so sometimes I don't even notice we've transitioned. Kira is also very responsive to specific feedback and requests. Normally, my feedback is pretty typical (more pressure, more focus on shoulders, etc.), but yesterday I asked her to address some acute lower back pain that had really gotten bad. By the end of the massage, THE BACK PAIN WAS GONE! No, not subdued or improved - totally gone. I was so surprised, that I asked her if she was surprised that she was able to fully address the pain.
