This is a great grocery option for the area! I expecially like the frozen food isle, you can find many ethnic options that taste great and that are at a fair price. I often grab microwaveable indian meals, delish. There produce and baked goods are always very fresh. They also have a great selection of wine and beer. Their house wines are actually pretty good and at an unbeatable price. You can also find some craft beers that other grocery stores don't carry. I can't quite cover all of me grocery shopping needs here but I do come here for some speciality items. If you are not familiar with Trader Joe's it is a grocery store with mainly Trader Joe brand foods. I can't do all my grocery shopping here but I definitely have some favorite items to get here. If you are a wine drinker they have a good selection of wine at good prices. Getting in and out of the parking lot can be frustrating but worth the patience as they do have good products. The staff is also very helpful if you are not able to find something or need assistance definitely ask for help. They also have a good flower section and most times they have samples out back past the produce area. read more

The people in this store are do friendly. I was greeted multiple times as I walked through the store. Although it is a small store it has a nice variety of products. I was actually in there to buy a hair conditioner that has been given great reviews. I couldn't find it and an employee showed me exactly were it was and told me a little feedback about the product that she had received from other customers. The product is called Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle conditioner. I bought 5. It's under $4 and can be used on vat hair types. I plan on trying some foods from there next. read more

Trader Joe's is an amazingly awesome place. They have fancy things for foodies, and for a reasonable price! Definitely try their French Macarons in a variety of flavors, and their house brand of wine, Charles Shaw (affectionately dubbed "Two Buck Chuck") is not to be missed. Most of the people shopping at Trader Joes tend to be healthy and toned-looking. It was the same back in San Francisco too. I thought it was just a San Franciscan thing but apparently here in Ohio it works the same. The unique variety of goods not sold at normal supermarkets, such as Turkish Figs and chocolate espresso beans seem to call for the middle class people tired of eating the same old honey-roasted peanuts available at the local market. read more

I LOVE Trader Joe's! I've shopped here since they opened, and except for their parking, they are the perfect store for buying healthy food. They have a cute online newsletter that let's you know about sales and new products to try, and their employees are exceptional in every way. They also have a policy that you can return anything you don't like - how great is that! I can't say that they have a huge selection of items, but what they do have is exceptional. Their location (although convenient) is crowded into a little strip mall and has horrible parking. Since the place is always crowded, you'll drive around for 10 min. trying to find an open space. It's really too bad that they don't have more locations around town. I believe Dayton is the closest. If you want fresh. healthy food, excellent pricing, and knowledgeable friendly help, Trader Joe's is the place to shop for your groceries. This is a grocery store model that I love. I can get everything I need (and should) eat and be in an out in under 30 minutes. (it takes me that long to park at Kroger's -okay, exaggerated, but you get my point). Large selection of Organic food. Yummy frozen stuff. Decent wine and beer selection. I spend less than I would at a big box store, save time, and the flowers last over a week. My only beef: Get a location in NKY already! While the drive to Kenwood isn't too bad, I want a local store. There is no better place than TJ's. It's affordable and the staff is awesome. Sure, they may not carry as much as Kroger or Meijer BUT quality over quantity. I make a trip every Saturday (almost 30 miles) specifically to go to Trader Joe's. 1. The orange chicken...there are no words. 2. The frozen potato latkes are fantastic! 3. The smallest Trader Joes location I have been to. The beer and wine section lack the extravagance of some other stores. As a committed do-it-yourselfer I don't have that much use for their pre-prepared foods but I have heard great things. They do have some ingredients which I can't find at reasonable prices elsewhere quinoa, white balsemic, 100% cranberry juice, etc. I shop here purely for tertiary items once every few months and every time buy loads of three point seven buck chuck (known alternatively as 2-buck-chuck and Charles Shaw wine). One thing I have to keep in mind with stores like this though is that even though they have pretty pictures and they seem to be in tune with my lifestyle decisions and moral choices their food still comes from the factory farm system. For instance Greenpeace recently rated their fish among the least sustainable in the nation, even when compared to places like Kroger, Safeway etc. which make visibly no effort to promote sustainability in fishing practices. Oh there smoked salmon is ridiculously low in price, definitely the best price in the region, I guess just dont expect it to be green too, even if the store does present an outward air of effort to be good the inward system is designed to be cheap. read more

When we decided to move to Cincinnati, the fact that it has a Trader Joe's was a major criterion. Yes, I know we should support locally owned stores over suburban chains, blah blah blah, but TJ's is a chain that gets it right: tasty, fun food, with lots of organic/vegetarian options, at great prices. It's not perfect -- selection can be limited, not EVERYTHING is as cheap as it could be, parking is hellish, etc. -- but it's a fantastic alternative to my local Kroger (the horrendous one at McMillan and Gilbert), and I happily go out of my way almost every weekend to shop here. Not to mention that the employees are very friendly and we frequently have the weirdest, funniest conversations with the cashiers. A few tips: - Hummus Quartet is the best hummus. - The big cylindrical container of sea salt is an amazing value -- only $1.49 (I think) for a huge quantity of yummy, high-quality salt. - My favorite things from the frozen section are the Vegetable Masala Burgers, Tofu & Edamame Nuggets, and Breaded Eggplant Cutlets. - I'm not that crazy about any of their cereals, but you can't beat a big box of Joe's Os for $1.99, though my boyfriend swears they don't taste the same as Cheerios. - Produce that you care about the taste of (for me, that's things like tomatoes and bell peppers) can be hit or miss. Basic items like garlic, onions and potatoes are fine. Prices might not be any better than stores like Kroger, though, and the selection is better elsewhere. - The smaller pitas (not mini, but somewhere in between... they might be called Pocket Pitas?) are better than the bigger ones. My BF loves the sesame bagels. - Great (if pricey-ish) nut/dried fruit section. - Great wine and beer section, obvs. I've heard some TJ's in other states have their own brand of scotch, or at least some kind of hard liquor section. I was tempted to write a bad review just to keep you all away, but that wouldn't be fair. There are times when business is brisk and it's hard to find a spot in the parking lot. I am delighted we have a Trader Joe's in the Greater Cincinnati Area. I wish we had 3 or 4. I've been to several TJ's in other cities, but our Kenwood road TJ's is first rate (not that there's such thing as a bad TJ's in any city). The produce is always fresh. The prepared foods are outstanding. TJ's brand is as good as any premium brand. Their organic tomato soup is fantastic, and vegetarian chili is something I never let myself run out of. I like the freshness of their nuts, and the prices are reasonable. Frozen meals like pesto pasta compete with brands like Amy's and come out on top for just over 1/2 the price. Here are some great items I've found at TJ's that I can't find elsewhere: Black bean and quinoa chips, all natural peanut butter dog biscuits, dark-chocolate covered almonds, dark-chocolate peanut butter cups. I could go on and on. But the best thing about Trader Joe's is the attitude of the employees. Where the heck do they find these cheerful, sophisticated, funny and energetic wonders? If I could, I'd steal them away and they'd all work for me. Every business needs pointers from TJ's as to how to lure amazing employees. And how is it that, no matter how crowded the store is, there's never much of a wait at the check out? They're doing some loaves and fishes type of trick with cashiers and registers. I'm sure you're assuming this review is written by a TJ's stockholder. Not so. Last time I checked, TJ's is a privately owned company and stock is not publicly traded. I moved to Cincy from Chicago where there are multiple Trader Joes. They have a great selection of unusual food at great prices. Their orange chicken from the frozen section was a staple at my house. I agree with Lelsa's earlier comment. I don't know what the deal is with alcohol in Ohio, but it's definitely a lot more expensive. The same $9.99 bottle I bought in Chicago is $14.99 here. Anyway... What can I say, I have had the blessing of living right down the road from this place for four years and do 99% of my grocery shopping at Trader Joe's. I love that Trader Joe's has everything I am looking for in a grocery store: good prices, simple selections, friendly staff, and a nice selection of beer and wine. It is nice to be able to go into a grocery store and do a whole week of grocery shopping in about 10-15 minutes and Trader Joe's allows me to do that, but still provides a wide selection for what is smaller than a modern grocery store. Foot traffic in and out of the store can be crazy but if you can get there early on Sundays you will have the store to yourself practically and can buy all the ripe bananas before the hordes make their way to Kenwood. read more

I've been in many Trader Joe's in other states, but I do not understand all the glowing reviews for this small store. The produce and nut selection is excellent, but the processed and prepared foods are loaded with fats, sugars, and sweeteners that are not obvious to those who don't read the ingredient lists on the products. A specific annoyance concerns the Trader Joe's product - Lemongrass Chicken Stix. The ingredient list is encouraging and makes the product worth trying - the box states there are 5 servings of 2 stix each, so one expects 10 stix in the box. Both of the boxes I purchased had only 9 stix. You may think that's not a big issue, but multiply this short changing by the total boxes sold, and there's a tidy profit for packing 9 stix vice 10. Nowhere on the box does it state that the box is packed by weight, so there should be 10 stix. I will give them one more try, and hope I got the odd anomaly. read more

We stop in Cincinnatti every year on our way down from Canada to our vacation grounds in the south, and a trip to Trader Joe's is part of the ritual (we don't have them in Canada). Apart from great produce, reasonable prices and some unique products we can't get anywhere else, the customer service is the best I have ever experienced in any store in the US. This time, my husband mentioned in response to the question " Are you together" as we arrived at the checkout with two carts..."Yes, for 36 years - tomorrow". Moments later a member of staff appeared at the checkout with a beautiful bunch of flowers to congratulate our anniversary. Now that is a gesture that is bound to get us talking about it and sharing on our social networks. These guys are good. I'll admit- I'm spoiled. I spent quite a few years in L.A. where there are Trader Joe's everywhere and I got used to the low prices and good quality of the product. When I moved to Cincinnati, I was delighted there was a store here. Even though Jungle Jim's is closer to me and my grocery store of choice, once in a while I get nostalgic for TJ's and I make a trip over to the Kenwood area to visit. This is a perfectly serviceable TJ's- they have the basics and it's got the exact same welcoming nature as their other stores. However, I'll repeat what others have said- parking is an absolute nightmare during mainstream hours. Twice now, I've gone down to the Kenwood mall and planned on stopping in at TJ's and ended up leaving without going in. It's very frustrating to drive around the parking lot, avoid getting hit by impatient drivers who have been circling longer than I have and start to feel the pricks of road rage when all you want to do is buy a few groceries. If there are no parking spaces, you can guarantee a parade of cars stalking all the aisles waiting. The thing is, there are no alternatives, either- it's not like you can park across the street and walk or find street parking. In L.A., some of the TJ's with small lots actually have a traffic person on duty to help with the parking and it does...people wait in a 'queue' and when a space opens up, the person at the front of the queue gets the space. My current solution is to go as the store opens or closes and not go during rush hour on weekends because the parking nightmare is just not worth it. read more

I am a Trader Joe's customer in my local area, because I love the quality of the products, the freshness of the produce and the affordable prices. We requested help from the Trader Joe's in Cincinnati because my granddaughter has a rare genetic blood disorder and is being treated at Cincinnati Children's hospital. She is American but normally lives in Germany so she is far from "home". She is required to reside in Cincinnati for a minimum of 4 months for life saving treatment. She is on a special diet and Trader Joe's has many of the foods she eats. We wanted to set up a support program that would help them get the foods they needed while they were away from home so we contacted Trader Joe's of Cincinnati. Trader Joe's in Cincinnati has gone above and beyond all calls of duty to help out our daughter's family while they are concentrating their efforts on their daughter's health. Trader Joe's not only employees real people who are committed to helping others, they are amazingly compassionate as well.
