I came here specifically to snag ice cream from the 50% off amazon prime deal - I was shocked to find that even on the second week of the sale the coolers were stocked and being stocked as I was shopping - other places run those types of specials and then once stock is out it's gone but that's not the case here. I got 19 items between expensive pints that would normally be 9 bucks to novelty ice cream bars. I paid 59 plus tax for all! The store was also very clean, and the staff was nice enough. Let me tell YOU!!!! Whole Foods has THE BEST Orange Juice you would ever drink. They were out of their gallon sizes so I picked up three of their personal size orange juices and let me say AMAZING!!! My go to Whole Foods in Cincinnati, heck it may be the only one LoL. This Whole Food isn't the largest but has everything one would need in a WF market. The produce is fresh, the organics are plenty, the staff is welcoming and very helpful. I am so excited to have a great location with so much yummy choices. I didn't get a chance to eat from the hot food bar or the salad bar so I will have to go back to check it up. I am writing my review based on my three visits and the items I was able to find that I needed and my interactions with the staff which were positive. I've also lucked up on front door parking each visit *Score* The location is nice, from outside it looks as if this place is super huge however it's not as large as the many Whole Foods that I visits around the country and frequent back home. I always tend to get the best customer service whether while browsing the aisles and an associate going above and beyond to assist me with something I am looking for or that is not available on the shelf to the cashiers and baggers chatting it up with me and being full of compliments as I check out (Flattery will get you...................EVERYWHERE lol). I do like this WF and where it's located as I haves so many other places I like to shop for non grocery related items in this same shopping complex which makes this a one stop shop. Really not one of the more impressive WF's I've been to. Their continued Amazon-ification is one thing, and I note that as usual there weren't enough people staffing the registers. Here though, the selection didn't really do much to justify shopping here. It's one of the smaller such stores I've ever seen, and every section was limited. Additionally, whatever benefits one gets from shopping at WF now very much revolve around the Amazon Prime discount, but there were remarkably few items on sale here. As I often find, virtually nothing in terms of fresh fruit and vegetables ever goes on sale, but neither did I find any of the niche health food staples I come here for. I bought a couple of things, but our Lexington location feels like it's twice as big, so I don't know why I'd stop in the Cincinnati suburbs again. read more

The staff of the The Whole Foods in Hyde Park has been very helpful and knowledgeable over the years. I love chatting with the deli workers who know their stuff! The prepared food are legit. The store was clean and well organized. I found several of the counter employees, particular a fish/seafood counter gentlemen to be very cold and actually rude. He corrected me several times and handed my fish to me wordlessly. I said "thank you" and was met with silence. No "you're welcome" or "have a nice day" - nothing! As I moved away, I saw him and the other counter worker laughing and rolling their eyes. Could they have been referencing me? Possibly not, but it was too much of a coincidence. As I moved throughout the store, I was not spoken to or asked if I needed help looking for an item much to my dismay. The cashier was pleasant and patient while ringing me up; however, too little too late. I will be voting with my feet and not returning to this location. I've had opposite experiences at other chain supermarkets (TJ and Kroger) and frankly for the upcharge, I am doing myself a disservice by continuing to shop at this location. read more

As a visitor to Cinn. I was pleased to find this top notch store. I was there the minute it opened so they were still preparing for the day. I wanted sushi and the particular roll wasn't available. The sushi chef asked what I wanted and how many and rolled it right up. It disappeared in a New York minute when I took it to my family, I didn't buy enough. Everyone was so accommodating and if they couldn't help me find what I wanted they found someone who could. Check out was a breeze, I didn't know the routine or discounts, and the clerk walked me right through it. This is an A+++ business and I will return every chance I get. read more

We've been back to Whole Foods in Kenwood many times now after my shaky review quite a while ago! It's now one our Favorite Grocery stores. A wide selection of most everything. My wife loves certain pies of Fish here and some meat items! Fresh Vegetables are the best. I got the curry chicken which was tasteless, so disappointing. The spinach had a strong taste of vinegar. Overall it was a good experience. The cost was not worth it. read more

Everytime I stop in Whole Foods to pick up a few of my favorite specialty items - Garden of Flavor Tumeric Tonic their team is always so friendly. At times my favorite products are out of stock, they're always happy to place a special order for me. Even during one visit there's a bag of treats I like & they didn't have my favorite flavor, so they gave me a bag of another flavor for free. Booooo on Whole Foods. I received a promotion in the mail featuring a sale price on lobster tails. I'm not normally a Whole Foods shopper, but this promotion sounded like a great idea for Valentine's Day dinner. The website was featuring the promotion, as was a giant sign in the store in the seafood department. I didn't see any, so I asked. I was told that they were totally out, and the supplier that they ordered from was out too, so they didn't expect to get more. No rain check, nothing other than a sorry, would you like some $25 salmon instead? Nothing on the website, nothing on the store signage. I get that you can run out of something, and unforeseen things happen, but it's just common courtesy to communicate better than making someone ask. Take the sign down at least. At least I can save some time the next time they mail me something and just throw it away immediately. read more

And the hot foods are actually more flavorful FOR A SUPERMARKET if you catch my drift. I helped myself to the hot food bar one trip on lunch break. Got the garlic green beans... I'm craving them now. On another lunch break I got the cold salad bar. It was good and filling. It was $10. Ohhhh it's priced off weight. Now I know to get a skinner salad. No biggie. I mean I did help myself and all. A lot of things there are over priced. But that's on them. I'm not buying over priced anything, I'm cheap. I pay for things I think are worth it.so it might worth it... I'll never know. Because... I'm a single mom. I don't like in the suburbs with my 6 figure husband who only drinks raw cane sugar lemonade or whatever. I have to make my coins stretch. I find it funny that I had not reviewed this place yet. Anyways, if you are a concerned shopper and have dietary restrictions (self imposed or otherwise), this is your oasis. Prices are of course a lot steeper than a typical grocery store so proceed with caution. Pros: WiFi, yeah, its great to kill some time here while eating and drinking (great wine & beer selection). Write the next great American novel. Helpful staff. Friday $5 wine tastings w food pairings. Cons: Prices can be high, sometimes to the point of ridiculous. Parking lot can be crazy during busy times. Avoid shopping during the Friday wine tastings. read more

[TLDR]A small, high end grocery store focused largely on organic items, but also a functional lunch and dinner deli/buffet[/TLDR] Because this Whole Foods location is near my place of work rather than my home, I have come to view it not so much as a grocery store (which it most certainly is) but rather (like Fresh Thyme a mile or so away) as a solid lunch place A somewhat expensive one, to be sure, but pretty good in a few notable respects First and foremost, you can make yourself a pretty nice custom lunch for yourself off the hot foods bar and/or the cold/salad bar. You can load up your biodegradable box with however much you want of whatever, pay at the register, and either take it with you or sit down and chow down in the open cafe-style seating in the front of the store. Whole Foods is a more than a little on the high side across the board, so the price per pound ($9.00 as I type this) is unsurprisingly quite a bit steep. Some of the items you'll find there every day, and others are pure luck of the draw. One day, there was even softshelled crab, other days, nothing but tofu. I've tried a number of the items, as follows: Great --------------- --The mac-n-cheese. This is item is available almost every day. Hard to believe that one can get a mac n cheese this good on a buffet, as this particular item doesn't tend to do well sitting out on a hot plate --turkey meatloaf. This was a very big surprise. Doesn't look like much, but very moist and flavorful. I've only seen this one in my nearly a dozen visits here. --Texas Chili. You'd think this would be in a soup dispenser, but its in a wide pan like the other non-soup items. It is just a little spicy, but if you have any tolerance for spice heat at all it'll be fine. Lots of big chunks of fork-tender roast (chuck, I think) making this one of the best values for the buck, given the price of beef these days Good --------------- --Au Gratin Potatoes. Sometimes these are great, but about half the time the potatoes aren't cooked all they way through. Take the serving spoon and cut through a couple to see if the batch you're looking at is cooked right --Green Chile Pork. This dish has a few white beans in it. Green chile can carry some heat but this really doesn't have much. Good green chile flavor, good chunks of fork-tender pork roast. Meh/Skip --------------- --Rice. I usually see two kinds set out every day. 9.00 a pound for rice? Just say No --BBQ Chicken. This is just boiled chicken with some mild sweet bbq sauce added. Not terrible, but just not very good --Chicken Tikka Masala. One of my favorite dishes when it is done correctly, but this is nowhere close, starting with (but not limited to) a sauce the consistency of a thin broth. It's just wrong. --Baked goods. All of them. Well, no, I haven't tried nearly all of them :-) but I found the same thing applied to all the of the ones I have tried so far, except the toffee covered chocolate pretzel, which was very good. These are not on the hot or cold food bars, and are 12 dollars a pound, also self serve. They are beautifully displayed and look wonderful, but are generally not all that good. The chocolate dipped Belgian waffle was stale, hard, and leaden; while the gorgeous croissants were all stale and near flavorless. The salted caramel "brownie" in a wax paper "cup" was a gooey mess. -Pizza by the slice. 3.49, or 2 for 6 bucks. The large-cut slices look very good, but they just arent very good tasting and it doesn't help that these sit around for a long time. If you do order a slice, ask whats the freshest out of the oven. If you have kids with you, I like it that single-serving milk jugs are available for just 79 cents each, and they have them in both the back of the store and in the front near the coffee ordering counter just to the left of the baked goods display. They always seem to have samples of ready to eat goods set around the store, so you can get part of your lunch and put less in the box if you try out all of the samples. There's usually a sample station for cheese - always good stuff - near the pizza and sandwich station The other thing I find very surprising and different about this place versus Fresh Market or Fresh Thyme is that you can also get beer or wine by the glass, albeit the variety isn't all that great, some for as little as 4 bucks. On the other hand, If you want to save a buck or three, there is a cold water dispenser and cups in the front cafe area, which also features a microwave and multiple power outlets (no USB, sorry) to recharge or run portable devices. They do have free wifi (2 hr limit after signon) here as well, but my so-called smartphone has not figured out how to bring up the web page that allows you to accept their terms of use. read more

About half the citizens of the United States seem to have strong opinions on Whole Paycheck as a grocery/food store. I fall somewhere in the middle. Obviously it's expensive, but you get dependable quality for your money. Clearly, WF has superior produce and excellent seafood & meat counters, and I imagine that, with the produce and the huge selection of grains, it is indispensable to local vegetarians and vegans. Some of WF's house brands (e.g., the salsas) are pretty nice. We almost never shop here, though, because Whole Foods has so many gaps when it comes to stuff we buy regularly (e.g., pet food). And frankly, about a third of the floor space is filled with prepackaged "gift store" food and products which we find mostly useless. Anyway, given the balance of quality, high prices, its limited usefulness, and Whole Foods's almost palpable pretentiousness--I can sense the self-satisfaction of both the corporation and too many of its customers as soon as I step inside--I've got a mixed view. Finally, standard grocery stores have started closing the gap on much of what WF does. I'm sure glad WF is there, though, even if it's an option we almost never select. This review, though, is mainly about Whole Foods's "restaurant side," i.e., the salad and food bars. It's a sad indictment of the East Side restaurant scene, but Whole Foods nicely fills a niche that nobody else on this side of town does: healthful, quick, super casual, and somewhat reasonably priced eating, i.e., perfect after weeknight errands or a trip to the gym has made for a later than normal evening. The salad bar and hot-foods bar are usually well-stocked, although the hot foods can be a little warmed-over by about 7pm most nights. The cooking isn't exactly scintillating--much of it seems to be by-the-numbers, in accordance with Whole Foods corporate specificiations--but at least it isn't processed, and it can be tasty and satisfying in a pinch. Many of the dishes on the hot bar tilt toward the Asian or semi-Asian, and the salad bar has some nods toward the Meditteranean and Middle Eastern (tabouli, etc.). As I say, it's only somewhat reasonably priced. Two of us usually end up paying shade over $10 apiece to get anything approaching hearty portions, which is a little much when you're eating off of cardboard trays. I haven't had the sandwiches in a long time, but they were decent in the past, too. FWIW, the pizza LOOKS better than the Cincinnati average, although I've never tried it. P.S. A major annoyance is that you have to navigate chaotic Rookwood Commons to get here. read more

On my first day in Cincinnati after relocating from Austin, I went to WFM to get a few staples and a quick dinner from the hot bar. It's a small store which is fine with me. Quicker in and out. The cashier was very patient and helpful to get me set up with the Prime discounts. The Brussels sprouts with sriracha and honey were fine. But the entree was so salty I couldn't eat it. And I am not salt phobic. It was labeled as chicken teriyaki but didn't taste like teriyaki. Tasted only of salt. It wasn't good no matter what it was. Here are a few things I love about Whole Foods: 1. The hot bar - $8.99/lb, always has great veggies, meat and vegan options. BUT THE MAC N CHEESE IS THE BEST. 2. Love their floral/plant selection. 3. If you take a bottle of white to the cheese bar they will put it in their chiller which will make your wine cold in 15-20 minutes while you shop. 4. Wine/app tasting on fridays. So fun! 5. My husband and I frequently place delivery orders with this store and we are extremely pleased with our service and delivery. We placed an order for their chicken salad from the deli last week and the product was awful. The chicken was so dry that it was hard to eat. Also the celery was not diced, it was not cut up into small pieces as in the past. We have ordered chicken salad many times but it has never tasted like this. This location is a lot smaller than ones I've been to in Denver or Washington, but it's still a nice place! It is definitely more on the pricey side, so expect to spend at least 10 dollars coming in. BUT, I did get a nice dinner from there for only about 6 dollars, consisting of vegan pizza and brussel sprouts. :) I really enjoy their coffee and pastry area, where you can get cookies/muffins, with a nice cup of joe and sit down in their lounge area. read more

Yay! I'm a fan-ish. What other grocery store lets you stroll around drinking wine on the cheap and sampling food all along the way? I love hanging out at the picnic tables and imbibing with friends! That said, how annoying is this activity to the people that actually shop at the grocery store on a Friday night? Any other grocery store would be dead as --insert something topical here-- and Friday night a prime time to beat the throng. To have to deal with lines of winos wrapped around all your precious groceries: your green chia slime beverages and your organic tofu and your irrefridgeable almond/soy milks and your red chia slime beverages, well I think we can all agree it's a sobering thought. Yes, perhaps the crowd is a bit easterly (Cincinnati, not globally that is) for my liking and the food's a shade on the pricey side, but I can't say that Whole Foods doesn't provide something that's unique and valuable to the Cincinnati area, namely cheap wine tastings. Now if I could just get a heavy-handed pour out of one of these hippies (I imagine they have been weakened by their lack of protein consumption)...I suppose everything is a give and take. EXPERIENCES AT THIS STORE: When I tried to use the groupon on my android the cashier says why can't everyone use apple pay. I'm like yeah not everyone has an iphone or apple pay. Cashier sighs loudly and tells me everyone should. Okay well, I don't have apple pay or apple phone, so a regular credit card was used but apparently is unwelcome compared to options available to people with a phone that costs 1k. I felt unwelcome here. RECENTLY: I pick up a few 'every day 365" items and some flavors of veg. products I have not seen at kroger. I tell the cashier it's great their prices have come down on the everyday items since amazon took ownership. In response, Cashier tells me they could and should charge more on thier speciality veg. items. I disagree and explain I do not shop here more than once per season because it is too expensive. Does whole foods train their employees to make unwealthy people feel unwelcome or do they just prefer hiring cashiers who are classist? I would rather go to trader joes or fresh thyme to find speciality products. The only time I go to whole foods is when I want to pickup a product I can't find anywhere else and an employee to let me know that in their opinion, I shouldn't be shopping here unless I am a doctor, lawyer or trust fund baby from hyde park. read more

Their regular Friday 5 for $5 wine tasting is an active singles scene for Hyde Park young professionals, and comes with some surprisingly good food to taste. (It usually includes at least one or two vegetarian selections) In general, their prices are sky high, but the selection is breathtaking. A word of caution: do not arrive hungry. There is one there and it is freakin' huge. And I must say it puts the Cincinnati Whole Foods to shame. Everything about the Whole Foods in Omaha is better than the Whole Foods in Cincinnati. Did I mention one can drink (wine, beer) in the WF in Omaha? Okay, I've never done it, but how cool is that? The wine selection in Omaha puts the one in Cincinnati to shame. Every food section - veggies, meat, etc. in Omaha is extensive in comparison to our Cincinnati version. There really is no comparison. The Omaha Whole Foods store rocks hard with five stars.
