My wife and I frequent Trader Joe's all over town. We always find something new and interesting. They have some great frozen dinners, baked goods, single person meals in the coolers and a great wine dept. We like to shop there a lot cuz they don't have fried fructose corn syrup and additives in the products they carry. Prices are pretty good as well! read more

This Trader Joe's off 217 seems to usually be on the curve when it comes to the new merchandise that the company is releasing each new season. The pricing of the store itself is fair for the amount of food you are getting and they have a decent amount of options to choose from. The only reason I am giving this one a four stars is because it always seems to be very busy every time I go. read more

This is one of the "old" Trader Joe's. What does that mean? Not right on the major thoroughfare (though quite visible from i-5) and angled aisles wide enough only for carts to pass (or move in opposite directions). However, this location has very friendly and accommodating employees in a city that is perceived to be "snooty." Despite these notes, they still have a full supply of wines, beer (at room temperature), produce, flowers, and the general packaged and frozen options found at all Trader Joe's. Note: shelves here are tall compared to newer locations, so look up, down, or ask an employee if there is something you can't find. No demo at this location after COVID. read more

I absolutely loved the organic and non-gmo selection! I started reading labels for the first few isles and realized that I didn't need to it was nice that half of my shopping time was cut in half just by not having to read all the labels. The only downside to this place is how damn rude ALL the customers are I've never been somewhere where ALL the customers are so effing rude nobody knows how to say excuse me or pardon me they just cut you off and push you out of the way it's like everyone was shopping like they were the only ones in the store. Absolutely asinine how damn rude absolutely everyone was I honestly couldn't believe how many stuck up a-holes could be in one spot at the same time. Aside from that it was great and less expensive than other grocery stores that I've been to. I will be doing our family grocery shopping here from now on I personally loved the selection and the prices. Guess the next time I go I'll be a rude D!CK just like everyone else. read more

Let's start off with I'm a foodie. I love to cook and create dinner experiences for my family and friends. TJ's is and continues to be one of my top 5 grocery stores I frequent for key ingredients. I enjoy their brand name Trader Joe products. I know many of them are made by name brands you would select as an ingredient at any other store. For example the black label TJ Champaign is made by Shramsberg; a Napa Valley Vineyard dating back to 1862. I often stop in for specific / favorite items such as they're spicy and sweet pea and which I use on salads, charcuterie boards and just to snack on. The jalapeño hummus is a favorite. Oh - and we have a family tradition of making homemade pizzas first with the kids and now we do this tradition with our grandkids. The prepared fresh pizza dough is easy and convenient and I can pick up many of the other desired toppings in reasonable quantities that satisfy the different taste flavors across the family. The staff and TJs are always helpful and this store is now exception. I'm a fan of their product, service and brand reputation. A loyal customer!! read more

A+ for fantastic customer service! I think the name of the gal who helped me is Brook. See item 4. 1) they do not price gauge flowers over the holidays, like the other big groceries do (doubling the cost at minimum) 2) they have great wines at a great price and are known for this. 3) they have their own amazing snacks. I love the cookies and cadies they put out around Christmas, but my waistline does not. lol 4) Brook. She was working in the flowers area and helped me pick out flowers for a friend who just lost the love of their life. When I shared the story, Brook did something so incredibly kind and sweet. I won't say because there are too many fakers out there that would try to take advantage of her kindness and the stores policy on kind gestures. But it meant a lot to me and a lot to my friend. I didn't used to go out of my way to find a Trader Joe's but I have been lately and will continue to give them my business, over the Big Box stores, if they have the same item I am looking for. So fortunate to live in Portland with eight, yes eight, Trader Joe's within 15 minutes of my house. Some people make a monthly 2 hour trip to Traders to get their favorite TJ exclusive items. No sense writing a review based on the products - everyone has their favorites and it's why we shop here! So this review is focused on the store itself. Of all the Trader's, this location has the most random and confusing layout. It's always crowded and I find myself wandering up and down and back around trying to locate the items on my list. Random helps the store because along the way, I make spontaneous purchases but sometimes I need to just run in and out. Not easy to do here. Now Traders is known for the craziness in the parking lots due to so many people coming and going and not necessarily a lot of parking spaces. This particular parking lot is the worst! It's maddening! If you enter from the north be careful as you make your way past BedSmart to the front of Trader Joe's as cars whip around the bend and there isn't much room For two cars to pass. The southern entrance isn't much better. Typically I shop at the Hollywood location, it's the biggest and most spacious store with an organized large parking lot. Also frequent SE 39th, SE 82nd, the Pearl and Multnomah Village locations. I only stop at the Lake Oswego store if I'm in Lake O; it is never my destination. Still giving it 4 stars because it's a Trader Joe's, service is great and products are great. read more

What can I say, Trader Joe's is a staple grocery store that Hawaii does not have ( HI definitely could bring it over, where would you get omiyagi from while traveling in west coast). Always coming out with new products: great meal preps items and famous tik tok boba ice cream pint ( never got to try). Unique names they give to each product manufactured. The parking lot is quite interesting. The stalls are quite small and beware when shoppers are coming out from different directions. I got 7 bags of dried mango slices while in Oregon. Next time I will buy even more lol. Recommendation, don't buy the dried chili mango slices unless you love spicy foods, I did not care for it. read more

I love this Trader Joe's! Cranberry Orange Relish is in season, as well as Trader Joe's Ginger ale (which contains pineapple juice for extra yummy health benefits) If you are ready to stand in line, to get in, this location is great, because the line that wraps around the building, is totally covered by a solid roof to keep us out of the rain and weather. This line is also elevated above the parking lot, with metal rails and shrubbery ... so you can feel like you are safe and away from the traffic. While in line, there are classic Trader Joe's signs to read and entertain you, if you so chose enjoy them. read more

As a frequent Trader Joe shopper, this Trader Joe's probably has the worst parking situation amongst the rest. STORE The store itself is located in a strip mall among an ACE hardware store and other mom&pop shop like stores. The location it self is nice but the parking situation is mind boggling. If you come at a busy time, not only you can't find parking, but the traffic itself will form a bottleneck that will prevent you from entering the parking row itself. Other than the parking frustration, this Trader Joe's has a lot of the typical items. If you want to find an item that's specific to this Trader Joe's, please read other's reviews as it has brought up many times! SERVICE The service is pretty decent and as advertised. Everyone here is super helpful and will have a fruitful conversation if you desire. I've been to Trader's Joes a couple of times in recent weeks and I've been impressed with their cleanliness and their efforts to reduce the number of people in the store (this location is diminutive-but gets the job done). Now with the governor's new order I fully expect the lines to increase in the parking lot once again. Trader Joes does a good job with their signage in the parking lot and the employees keeping track of how many in the store and when you can enter which I completely appreciate. I try to get in and out swiftly because I assume others are likely waiting. I'll keep going back to this location as they have a lot of great items and I'm always up for trying a new thing or two. Give them a try but be prepared especially with the new government order there may be a bit of a line. read more

Located in close walking distance and only a few minutes drive away from Residence Inn by Marriott Portland South in Lake Oswego. Free parking available in the lot. Happy to see shelves stocked with various edible eats. Aisles are clean and organized. Items are easy to locate. Grateful for friendly staff and wonderful customer service. My colleagues and I always enjoy snacking on crispy butter wafers with cookie butter. I also love indulging in dark chocolate covered blueberries and gingerbread cookies. read more

I've always passed this location off i5 and wanted to stop in. It's smaller ish, tight parking and busy for a Saturday, no surprise. This is a great place for any residents nearby who can walk on over and get what they need. There's the flower selection as all other TJs. Samples in the back. Shelves are well stocked. I like to grab the cards located along the walls and reusable bags. And it's always hard not to grab some dark chocolates while you're about to check out! I'll stick to my local TJ but this was a nice change in the SE side! read more

I appreciate the prices of produce at TJ's. I don't appreciate the plastic over everything. I want to see fewer plastic bags, TJ's!!! We can't recycle them easily anymore and they're just going into trash for most consumers. Yikes! They have an every increasing vegan section in vegan "cheese" and alternative "milk" as well! Yay! More plant based foods are better for everyone. I have to go in with a list or I'll buy way more than I need because there's always some new thing I want to try. I don't normally post reviews, but I want to offset Samantha B's negative review. As a regular shopper at this TJs location for many, many years, my experience has always been positive! Team members are friendly, polite, helpful, and especially at check-out they take the initiative to converse and make a personal connection. The store is clean, tidy, and shelves are well stocked. It actually amazes me since this is a very busy location with an endless flow of customers. To all the Lake Oswego TJ team members: THANK YOU for all you do, THANK YOU for being there, and THANK YOU for all the Covid-19 safety precautions you are taking! I'm sorry to see a negative 'Karen' post for my favorite store, especially when you are working hard to serve us during a pandemic! Btw, if you see a line outside the store, it moves pretty fast. It would be pretty hard to complain about a trader Joe's in my opinion.this trader Joe's in particular always seems to be very well maintained and clean. I started visiting this one even more with Covid going on because I knew it was very tidy all the time, not just staring this crazy time... I really like their sizing when it comes to packaging food. My husband and I made a spontaneous stop at Trader Joe's on the way home Thursday evening. As often happens, we put more items in our cart than anticipated. Furthermore, we were distracted and forgot to bring our reusable grocery bags with us into the store. As a result, our groceries were put in a paper bag. Our checker was starting to bag our groceries when another employee approached and offered to do it for her. Not only did he bag the groceries but, when he realized the bag was crowded, he re-bagged the items into a "double-bag" for us. He was friendly and chatted with us the entire time. His name is Seth, and the manager needs to know that he made a great impression on us. We predict that Seth has a great future! read more

I have to dock this location a point for the unfortunate parking situation. It irks me everytime I visit this particular location. TJ's is my favorite grocery store because I always find something new and interesting to try. I've worked my way through most of their curries and the bakery items are great (current fave - whole wheat sourdough bread). My latest find was their cranberry sauce. I went back several times during the holidays and it was hit or miss whether I could pick up one (or three) because it was so popular. I also have a lot of cheese fondue during the holidays and they are consistently the least expensive place to get a good fondue. Their wine section is great and so are their flower bouquets. A bunch of sunflowers lasts for ages. Don't even get me started on their chocolate. One of the best selections of rich, dark chocolate from local and international companies as well as their own brand. The Trader Joe's chocolate peanut butter cups are so good they make me want to cry (then eat 10 more). **Update April 27, 2008. So two guys from TJ's were giving out free samples at the Willamette Trolley open house yesterday. They were so fun and full of facts about TJ's and their products. They even had a 15 min. discussion with me about naan and hummus selections. So these guys officially rock my world!** read more

Customer service really went down because of CoVid. They're more worried about the wrong things and policing policy rather than explaining their reasonings why. I'll likely never shop at this location again because in 1 visit I had multiple negative conversations with the employees there who could have framed their statement in a better tone rather than just trying to reprimand behavior. It was crowded and they were under stocked with lot of items. It's overpriced and I'd much rather just go to Safeway that try and visit this place on a Sunday afternoon any day. Not a convenient shop for me, but wanted to grab some healthful snacks for my upcoming trip. I was in and out pretty quickly, but was pleased by the selection of items. I picked up some eclectic, fun snacks and left the store. It was a quick trip, cashier service was prompt, friendly. I grabbed a big back of trail mix, but it was packed in individual size backs for easy on-the-go snacking. Also, a Norwegian flat bread I was quite impressed with - savory but healthy. BACKGROUND - There is a social stigma around solely shopping at New Seasons and/or Whole Foods. However, for the same quality and at the fraction of the price, Trader Joe's saves the day. Trader Joe's, please come onto the stage to accept this humble award from me. PROS - Closest to my home. I come here at least twice a week. Every time I step foot into this store, I'm just so happy. The flowers on the right greet me while seasonal displays of limited edition food and snacks get me excited. For the quality of the food (and the origin), you really can't beat the prices. Sure, there are larger selections at New Seasons and Whole Foods, but stepping into a Trader Joe's is like going to a Farmer's Market but so much more diversified and convenient. CONS - When you fall in love with a seasonal favorite, you better stock UP! The autumn teas (the one with the Fox on it is my favorite) are a good example. POINTERS - At $4.99 for a dozen great tasting macarons, that alone should be a reason to visit a Trader Joe's near you. read more

I think Joe Coulombe would be proud of this particular Trader Joes store. Joe founded the chain in Southern Cal in 1967, although some purists will point out that he started as Pronto Market, but that was 7-11esque type mini mart and by '67 he realized that going up against 7-11 was business suicide. Joe's still around today, he's on the Board of Cost Plus and True Religion Clothing, but you can bet he probably keeps tabs on TJs. This store is close enough to work that when I get a "pita chip and hummus" craving I can satisfy it without resorting to a big box grocery store and spending two bucks more, one for the pita chips and the other for sub-standard hummus. However, TJs is more than that, I love cooking with two-buck Chuck, their yogurt is excellent, The Wife loves their salads and I'm a big fan of their frozen veggies. In todays current economy I can't shop here for my every week major shopping, just not feasible money wise, but I manage to use TJs as often as I can for those things they specialize in. And if I happen to be near the refrigerated case with the two olive hummus... well all the better! read more

Hands down my favorite grocery store chain of all time. I have been coming here my entire life, I remember enjoying this store as a small child. I will NOT move to a city that does not have a TJs. Only thing they are lacking are some baking goods that can be found at more standard grocery stores. I cook and bake full meals often so do need to attend a more traditional store sometimes. They DO have a very solid selection though. This location is by far the best. I have traveled a lot for work over the years and tend to stay in a rental for a few months. I have probably been to 10 - 15 separate TJs over the years. All are fantastic. Employees are fun, helpful and the stores are always laid out in a similar way so you kind of hit the ground acclimated. This location is my favorite. They staff are a hoot and they have a "find the monkey" game for kids that they let me get away with playing. You find the monkey in the store and you get a prize. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. It really is as good as it gets. I'm just SO happy every time I'm here. Always. From the flowers to the food to the wine to the service. I just smile. I come after work during the week to stock up. I always grab what they're sampling. Easy, no brainer cooking ideas are always a plus. The flowers are great for hostess gifts. The wine is much cheaper and tastier than what you find at a supermarket. The food comes in small portions and is great for a single on their own. Costco is great, but I don't have the space or time to eat all that. The checkers are busin' tail to get you in and out and on your way. So very helpful if you have a question too. Just sent a lovely Valentine's package full of Trader Joe's chocolates to my daughter and her friends at school. The whole hazelnut chocolate bars are boss in either dark or milk chocolate. Of course while I was there I picked up potted mini roses for our kitchen counter as we prep for Valentine's Day. Couldn't pass up freshly ground coffee, a couple bottles of organic wine, frozen croissant dough that makes my house smell incredible on Saturday mornings, great $4 shampoo that lasts at least 6 months, and a dozen other things that only TJ's carries. I have yet to shop at a Trader Joe's I didn't enjoy--just don't get between me and the peppermint, chocolate covered joe-Joes during the holiday season. We make it here every few weeks. This store is so tiny almost convenience store size and the parking is so sparse. It certainly could expand and expand their parking. They are either short of staff or something else is going on here. Every time I come here which is usually in the evenings, people did not restock. Due to lack of choices for Indian and Pakistani restaurants in this zipcode we buy a ton of their Indian dinners. For a quick at home Bollywood theme night I heat them up and usually hunt for a SRK film on netflix. Their Indian dinners are just as good as many restaurants. The last 3-4x we have been here they are out of stock of one or more of the regular entrees. This makes me PO'd. If I see one of their various staff members bumbling around with their clipboard, I will summon them over and ask if they have any Indian dinners in the back......and guess what! They usually do! Grrrr!!!!! Please TJ's! You can make more money keeping items restocked than bumbling around with a clipboard. Another fav item is their black rye bread! I highly recommend the black rye to make grilled cheese sandwiches. Most excellent. Another item that just might give sriracha hoy fong sauce a run for their money is TJ's Green Dragon sauce. I usually pass on green sauce, but one day a little voice told me to take a chance and I did! I am so glad because it has now almost eclipsed the use of hoy fong sriracha. I like this tiny store. I will be back. You can zip through this store in less than 30min if you know the layout. If you plan on going, go at an off time. The parking situation is tricky. read more

After my disappointing experience at the NW Trader Joe's, I started coming to the Lake Oswego location as it's about the same distance from my house. I have never had anything less than stellar service here! Maybe the employees are just used to dealing with needy/demanding LO soccer moms, but they're so incredibly friendly I want to hug them all. Last time I came here, I had a sincere discussion with an employee about their seasonal sweets, another employee complimented me on my shoes and I had an in-depth conversation about the merits of various wine glasses with the check-out clerk. They were all genuine and made me feel welcome. I don't think I realized how much I appreciated that until I noticed it was lacking. I've bought the spinach lasagne for over 20 years, it's still just as good throughout the years. About $3; 360 calories, 18 grams fat, 630 grams sodium, 26 grams carbs, a little more than most pieces of bread. I add a little more pasta sauce and some parmesan cheese, I bake at 400 for 45 minutes. Lots of finely chopped spinach, a meal by itself. I've never microwaved, you can also do that, but to me, microwave is never as good. read more
