New Seasons has a great selection of high quality food items. My main purchase was prime tritip steak. These were beautifully marbled steaks that grilled up nicely for our Sunday dinner. I also purchased 2 salads in a bag which tasted great, some beer and a few slices of bacon for a potato dish. Their beer selection is excellent and they also have a good selection of wine. New Seasons is considered a higher end market and if we lived closer we would be a frequent customer. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is price. Some items like packaged salad was twice as expensive as places like Sprouts, Safeway or even Trader Joe's. read more

Unfortunately after they were bought in 2019, the prices have skyrocketed. Some products are literally half price at Target or Amazon. I'm all for shopping and supporting local companies (but this is now really a South Korean owned chain) and well, I can't justify their prices anymore. I have to watch for my own costs too. I was dogsitting near here. I had made a salad for lunch and decided to stop at New Seasons to get something to eat along with my salad. I've found awesome vegan things in the past. A few weeks ago, I got the plant based brisket that was delicious at the store in Hillsboro. I was hoping they would have it. They didn't. They didn't have any burritos or sandwiches that were vegan. All the pizza slices were non vegan. I found a Mac&Cheese by Higher Taste; Cacio é Pepe. I have to say that was one of the best store Mac&Cheese I've had! I was searching for soy curls a while back, couldn't find any. I heard they stopped carrying them. This makes me sad because I love soy curls! I bought some microgreens since I've been out. I miss putting them on everything! New Seasons does have beautiful produce! Just wish I had a better selection of vegan take away. read more

I only come to New Seasons for a few select specialty items when needed. I hope they don't stop carrying certain herbs or spices that we use. I do love their banana cake in the bakery area as well. They have a great selection of food items for a quick grab and go for lunch when you are in the run. Not to mention the amazing chocolate chunk warm melty cookies!! I purchased a smoked turkey from New Seasons for Thanksgiving and I have to say, it was the worst turkey I have ever had. The meat was tough and the skin was so tough that it was inedible. I would recommend you change your supplier. I also picked up some tangerines and even though I tried to check the bag carefully, 3 of them were moldy. Again, do better New Seasons. read more

But it's remarkable that the older reviews, six and seven years old now, just write glowing reviews about this place that it has competitive prices, happy employees, wonderful place to shop. Been shopping at this location of New Seasons since it opened mainly for: 1. The wonderful staff, feel welcomed and engaged when we go here. 2. The produce is spectacular. I honestly have nothing bad to say about the produce. 3. The wine selection and knowledge of Branden who has helped me pick out so many favorites (although not so much lately since the tasting area shut down.... very sad about this. I try to find Branden whenever we go to get a new wine suggestion). 4. The bakery and meat counters are really great and the items always look fresh. My 3-star post today is about the recent change they made about shopping bags. They no longer allow us to use our own bag while shopping and are forcing customers to use the shopping carts or baskets. Here is my issue with that... those carts and baskets are SO DISGUSTING!!! I honestly don't know the last time they cleaned them but i'm so grossed out handling them that I have started shopping there less and only going for the small one offs that I can carry in my hands. I don't get the reason why they won't let us carry our groceries around in or reusable bags. If it is a concern about theft I'm really baffled by that because you literally have to empty them before checking out and then the EMPTY bag shows up in front of the cashier to fill. It is impossible to hide anything. I asked why and was told "its just a new policy". And once I forgot and used my own bag and was confronted in a not so nice way by an employee making me feel like a criminal. So in reviewing my spending since this new policy I calculated that I've reduced my monthly spending there by nearly 50%. We routinely spent $600+ each month (more back when we bought more wine and beer when the bar was open since we were able to try more things). I guess the new policies are worth folks shopping there less. Since new ownership took over the New Seasons that was so neighborly has really changed a lot and not for the better. FYI Safeway never reprimands me when I shop w/ my own bag in lieu of a cart. Hoping for a change back to sanity and customer service. read more

This used to be my favorite place to shop. But it's a shell, now, of its former self. It used to have great espresso. Now the espresso machine is gone. Also gone is the hot wok and the abilty to order sandwhiches the way you want or need them. Grab and go only now. There used to be pokestops and community groups that met in the dining area. Not anymore. And the fireplace in dining area is always broken. At this point, it's basically a bougie convenience store, as it's selection is very limited and everything is overpriced. And they need to fire the guy who works in floral. He's an ass with no customer service skills. read more

Quality of produce is adequate. The store is clean. Used to be friendly not so much any more. During COVID they hired nasty bossy people, pasted arrows on their floors, maintained severe attitudes and treatment if anyone didn't stand 6 feet apart from others. The store went from very friendly with sample coffee and pastries and smiles and welcoming attitude to the opposite. Organic bakery items very limited. should expand because it doesn't exist in the area and their business would grow exponentially. This is for the Instacart service at this location. During these days of COVID-19, I rarely go into retail businesses. I have been using curbside pickup and delivery services when the stores offer it. The Instacart service at New Seasons (Progress Ridge) is outstanding. My shopper texted me the whole while she was shopping. My list was fairly small but I was worried my instructions about the whole chickens I wanted would be misunderstood. My shopper took a picture of what was available and it all worked out perfectly; she bought exactly what and how many I wanted. I love when Instacart shoppers text you to ask questions if they aren't sure about what you are asking for. I love this New Seasons location. Clean, competitive prices, samples galore! I couldn't be happier at a grocery store. (Especially given the spicy, tasty guacamole sample.) Mostly (all?) organic goods with delicious fruits including the honeycrisp apples and strawberries. Free fruit for kids while shopping. Vitamins and supplements up and down an entire aisle. Prepared foods for take away, as an easy lunch or dinner, or things like guacamole and chips for snacks or an impromptu picnic getaway. I am a fan of this New Seasons all the way around from where it is located, to the environment and the products they supply. My review today is about the florist department in particular. I picked out a couple of bouquets that caught my eye and a vase with a plan to just cut and arrange in the vase at home. I asked the woman in the florist department if she wouldn't mind just combining the flowers into one package for me, but she took several steps further and turned it into a whole arrangement with nice packaging and all, she even found some of the roses in the pack were not satisfactory in her expert eye and ended up replacing them with even prettier ones. All of this for no extra cost when this would easily cost a good $90+ somewhere else. I am very pleased with the level of service at this location and will come back for my next flower purchase. read more

This store is very disappointing. All year long we limp along making do with the limited selection of items they have due to poor restocking and poor ordering and poor management. And then come the holidays - right after Halloween - the store is stocked to the gills with every regular item you can think of plus a plethora of additional splurge items, due, undoubtedly, to the fact that upper management knows that people make additional expenditures this time of year. Disgusting that they can't be bothered to stock their shelves throughout the year and then try to take advantage of people during the holiday season. Went to the store on New Year's Eve Day to buy a couple of meal items for the upcoming two days and the shelves were bare! There was ZERO chicken and almost zero hamburger and many other staples. Clearly they had exhausted their restocking budget and hadn't ordered ANYTHING for the end of holiday season. When asked, store employees cited "chain supply issues." Funny how these "supply chain issues" were nonexistent before Christmas but now they can't stock the shelves now that everybody spent all their money? This is one of my favorite New Seasons locations since everything is always so well put together and shopping seems to flow better. I get some great coupons sometimes for New Seasons and I might not shop there often but am happy to do so for a specialty item or two. The staff are always going out of their way to help you out also. Their displays make you really consider buying so much food and gifts. The parking lot at this spot, even with all the popular surrounding stores and restaurants flows very well also making it convenient to drop by and grab a few things as you need to. read more

Today is my reckoning day. Today I have to make right the wrongs, do good and change the reviews of a few select places that I feel deserve an adjustment on their ratings. This is one of those places. I must of been grouchy that day (it happens) and it was true that the particular employee who informed my partner and I of the allergy policy did so very poorly....BUT the rest of the employees on every single furtively secret visit since that first review have proved me WRONG WRONG WRONG, WRONG, well you get it. It was all that one person who we first asked that gave us the mistaken impression. Ever since, EVERYONE - from the very smiley cashiers and friendly service counter staff have been helpful and understanding of my husbands' fatal allergy and they don't act like it's a bother. What can I say, you can't judge a grocery store by one bad apple. Or hopefully me, by one bad review. Spank me if you must, but I have to admit when I'm wrong. Admit it publicly. Can this be true? Hmmm. I wish we could try it, but that's just too big of a risk and I don't understand how much cross contamination is happening in their prep areas that results in such a policy? New Seasons Market is an excellent store that's why the attitude unpleasantly surprised me. It's only 8am and I'm not awake, it's moving day and need to get breakfast quickly at New Seasons market. My bf orders coffee and I ask for tea. Tea bag on the side, as I don't drink my tea too strong. It's the kind of tea they put in a little bag by hand, which is a good thing. What isn't a good thing is that I see the employee touching all kinds of things and then holds my tea bag in the palm of her hand, actually squeezing it! When I get my tea I'm not really happy about this. She gets defensive and tells me "I wash my hands 5 times a day..." and I'm thinks: that's not customer service. But let it go. Then I sit down and look at the tea bag... and I just think it's disgusting, it's unhygienic. And I tell her I'll swap it for coffee. And her rude remark is "well, you're entitled to your own opinion....". That's just plain rude, did you miss the class on customer service? More importantly: did you not attend the class on hygiene? This review is specific to a Thanksgiving item, nothing against the store in general - attached is a photo of an advertised stuffing dish that my mom ordered. Second attached photo is what she received! She was mortified of serving it at Thanksgiving and brought it to the attention of store staff and was given some fruit to add to it to make it colorful...better than nothing but it frankly still looked like dog food and nothing whatsoever like what New Seasons advertised. I'm still astonished that she had to pay for this at all. Evidently the store manager told her they are going to report this to corporate. Who knows what that'll do so everyone out there should still be wary of the false advertising of the ready made dishes if you want your holiday meals to go well! read more

I like New Seasons and I think this particular store is outstanding. They have incredible people working here who are attentive, knowledgable and very polite. Great customer service is always a welcome addition to any business. My two favorite things about this market are the cheese selection and the bakery. I have been able to find some cheeses that I was not able to find at other upscale markets. The Leyden cheese with cumin was amazing! The Vlaskaas cheese was so creamy and had a hint of sharpness but is sweet. It was a wonderful balance. Their Emmental was great tasting as was the Mahon cheese. I bought a lot of cheese! The bakery has a great selection of fresh baked breads and will slice them for you. I bought a dark rye that reminded me of an Eastern European rye, although not as dense. It was aromatic and also had caraway seeds in it which added to the aroma and taste. The garlic Romano was good with a subtle flavor of Romano but j felt it needed a bit more of a garlicky flavor. They have a nice selection of humus with lots of different flavors. I have tried many of the different brands but the best kinds are the ones made in Oregon so buy locally! I like that they have a lot of local and Pacific Northwest brands. There's a chipotle flavored humus that was the only one I didn't like. They have a great selection of local and international beer. I found some great Czech and Dane beers that I have not had in years. They also gave a wine bar in the store as well as alarms selection of wine. Check out their prepared foods of your in a rush. This large and spacious grocery store was this Californian's dream!! The all natural, non-GMO, paleo-friendly ingredients/foods and health & beauty products far surpasses any being offered in any store in California, including Whole Foods. Many of the products were local to the Pacific Northwest region offered along standard brands. Given the large size of the store, the selections in all the aisles were seriously impressive. I spent a good twenty minutes in the health, beauty, and home aisle alone! Anyhow, New Seasons was recommended to us by two of our Portlandian friends for souvenirs. My girlfriend and I were able to buy: Moonstruck chocolate bars, Stumptown coffee beans (on sale, cheaper than in the cafe!), all natural lip balms made in PDX, Portland Company organic ketchup, Aardvark habanero hot sauce, and some all natural glycerin body soaps. Checking out was a bit cumbersome as the cashier had difficulty with the bar code of a hand sanitizer spray I was purchasing. She became flustered trying to read the small digits and when she accidentally rang it up as something else worth $18. She was so nice about it though, and let me have both hand sanitizing sprays and a body bar soap for free due to the long check out. I call that a win! There was one trashy ho who was rude to me but she was a customer so hopefully I never see her again. The workers are actually nice, not fake nice, like they genuinely want to help you. Also I'm like Jekyl and Hyde with my eating habits: M-F I'm a meal prep machine. Come Saturday I rely heavily on prepared foods or eating out and this place has you covered. Very nice. Fantastic offerings (including coffee). Not cheap. Very much worth it (you're getting more than you pay for). This place does one-stop, specialty shopping right. In each department, you get the service you would expect to find at a dedicated specialty shop, without having to drive all over the freaking place. If you have the time and dedication to do so, however, knock yourself out, but I can drop in here and get: Great coffee: beans = Stumptown, drink selection includes breves and pour-overs (done right), and service was top notch. Latte art and pour overs at a major grocery store?! Awesome. Coffee in Portland really is on an entirely different level. Pastries: good luck resisting temptation. There are some great pastries from myriad Portland bakeries beautifully displayed in the case by the coffee bar. Like the Medusa, one peek at that case and you've lost. And damn you free (delicious) samples. Great beer: I have a hard enough time finding Russian River when shopping at home in California. Not sure about year-round availability, but grabbed my favorite brew (Consecration) here... 'nuff said. And in case I didn't know what I wanted, the beer guy saw me browsing and asked if I "wanna talk beer". Hell ya. And for those that like to get their drink on while grocery shopping, the adjacent beer and wine bar is a nice bonus. Really, really good cheese: wide selection of delicious cheeses I've never seen at other grocery stores. After asking us a few questions about our preferences, the staff was eager, knowledgeable, and gracious enough to offer samples of anything she thought we would find yummy. She even started a little rolodex record of what we tried and liked to better help us in the future. Deli: Olympic Provisions. Right on. Again, helpful staff: on a recent visit a bagging accident left me with a stick of unusable salami. Mentioned this to the deli clerk and she put a free replacement in my hand without further question. *Full disclosure: my brother works here, (and enjoys it). I enjoy shopping here and usually everyone is really nice at this location and they carry a lot of fresh produce that I enjoy. However, t3foday was a very strange day. I went to get a toasted bagel and the person working there suddenly told me this :"why are you staring at me? You give me a strange vibe". What??? I walked in and was astounded how close it looks like Whole Foods. This is one of the newest New Seasons in the area, and while everything is shiny and new, it lacks that "Portland" charm in my opinion. That is, until you actually start looking at their products! New Seasons is amazing. I called all around the Portland area looking for 42 frozen turkeys to be delivered the Monday before Thanksgiving... with one week notice everyone laughed at me. But I called New Seasons and they were amazing. They were not offended at the short notice, they didn't act like it was an inconvenience, and they didn't even balk at the fact that I needed it delivered to the office. Norm in the meat department and Shawna were so helpful. They returned my calls, kept me updated throughout the process, sent me emails with details, etc. I cannot say enough about their outstanding service and willingness to problem solve. Sara in the bakery/coffee area is just rude. The simplest of requests are an effort for her, a struggle in customer service. Don't ever ask her a question, highly likely you will receive a snide comment back. She sure doesn't fit the NS model of friendliness!! If I had more abundant resources, or dispersed my current resources differently, this would be my grocery store of choice. As it currently stands, it's still more of a sometimes treat to shop here. I come here when we are bringing food to an event or if I want some outstanding quality fish or meat or even just revel in their treats. This location hosts some great events. The First Thursday event lends an opportunity to try sample some of their more expensive treats and on Fridays they bring brewers in to do tastings. The beer and wine selection in general is very well managed and they even have a small bar with taps and growler fills. The only section I may love more than the beer and wine (gasp!) is the cheese counter and the little hunks of cheese they sell when they finish off the block. Did someone say easy cheese plate? Round off that cheese plate with some offerings from Olympic Provisions that they sell in-store too. What else? Awesome meat and dairy sections where it's easy to find out the source of your food. Love the produce and organic selections. Another fun option is their gift section, always good for that last-minute gift of goofy socks or some other Oregon-themed item. Even better? They treat their employees well. Their employees are always so friendly and helpful. I love this local company and I need to do a better job of supporting them. Take that, wallet! read more
