I like this location but it seems like they're always out of at least one or two things when I visit. It's no one's fault but it's a little annoying at times. All in all, still a solid location. The prices are slowly creeping and I'm curious to see how that's managed over the next year. My grocery list has gotten smaller but my bill has increased so that's frustrating . Mostly recently, I indulged in some florals for an arrangement I've been waiting to make. They were fresh and beautiful and came together very nicely. read more

The store is clean, well organized, and fully stocked. Security was there, so I felt comfortable and safe the entire time. The employees were not friendly, they were not rude, but don't expect excited friendly behavior. Lol. Listen, I'm not that familiar with Trader Joe's, so I was a little skeptical about buying their oatmeal (because I really love oatmeal), but I tried it yesterday and baby...... it is DELICIOUS! New Orleans finally has a Trader Joe's of its very own. I'm thrilled that I no longer have to drive out to Metairie for my favorites, like their very affordable toasted sesame oil, quality low sodium soy sauce, sprouted tofu, fresh-squeezed OJ/tangerine juice, oat milk aaaaaand all that wine! This one is a bit different and I like that they don't have those wacky angled aisles. I don't love that they don't section wine according to region, but I'll live. They were out of a few of my favorites but that's the TJs way and the good thing is, I won't have to drive to Metairie to get frozen fruit bars anymore (god, those are good but melt so quickly). On that note, a plea to TJs to stock sorbets again. Ok, but the best part? I was shopping here at around 6pm and lo and behold the entire flower section was not bare. If you want fresh flowers in Metairie, you must get there at opening. It's kind of crazy. The parking lot may not be as big as the one in Metairie, but we found a spot. Not sure 6pm is prime time, but I know that a half hour before closing is most certainly not, so that's when I'll be planning to do my shopping. That TJs staff is as always, top tier. First, staff at this location are exceptionally kind. They also have security guards throughout to make you feel safe. But starting with the parking... everyone in NOLA does not drive a prius, and the spaces are suffocatingly small. Before parking we noted how many people were trying to squeeze into spaces. I'll add, DO NOT go on a weekend. I was playing bumper cars with jogging strollers and humans alike. Stock is well maintained, but you might have to play Twister just to reach your milk. I might try this location again - on a weekday. read more

Love that the newest TJs is close to my work. And the parking lot is bigger than it seems. While this store is smaller (according to the news) than the Metairie store, it doesn't feel it. One of the workers said that they have less liquor at this shop but that's fine with me. Lots of fresh produce and TJ branded items. Minus one star because there are still a lot of empty shelves but that's because the store is too popular and they stock constantly. Maybe when the uptown store opens this will be better. read more

Everyone that knows me, knows that I do not play behind TJs. Their snacks are top-tier. This location opened a month ago but I had not been because I wanted to give it a little time. Well today, that time was up! Upon entering the store, I was a little lost because the layout is not like the Metairie store. I took my precious time going down each aisle. Pros: Aisles at this location are a bit wider than Metairie. Employees are nice. Customers here actually say "excuse me." Parking lot is great. Security guards are at the door and near the cheeses. Cons: I think the prices for some items here are a little higher than Metairie. Metairie store has more items/ things I shop for but an employee told me that they were working on that. Overall, I am glad that TJs has decided to build more stores in our area and I am looking forward to the Uptown location. I hope this addition has eased the crowds at the Metairie location. My experience at this Trader Joe's was simply far less pleasant than other locations I've visited. The parking lot here is far too small and seems jam packed. Inside it is equally jam packed full of people and just is unpleasantly crowded. The checkout was fast and that was the one winning aspect of my experience. For my future Trader Joe's shopping in the New Orleans area I'm going to go to the Metairie location which has a LOT more parking and the larger store gives humans space to spread out more so you don't feel like a bunch of canned sardines. Overall the store seem well stocked like most Trader Joe's and while the checkout was efficient the smaller footprint of the space just makes parking and shopping a less than pleasant experience. We will see how this develops as they still have an even smaller location opening on Freret Street that might make things less congested here. read more

New Orleans' very first Trader Joe's! What a treat! The parking lot is spacious with plenty of parking slots. At less than one week old, my shopping experience was very nice! The store was clean and generally well-stocked with several security guards on-site. I did see a couple of produce, refrigerated, and frozen items that looked like they needed to be replenished, but it was overall nicely stocked. I saw one crew member helping a customer, and the person who checked me out was super friendly! I will say, something about the store is lacking that Trader Joe's...sparkle, lol. I've tried to put my finger on it; it could be because the aisles are straight, it feels like your average grocery store. Maybe they just need to slant the aisles and turn the music up a bit...Get us in the mood to spend our money, lol. And have a couple more crew members out on the floor greeting customers and being available for questions...I believe it would enhance the shopping experience! The store is a wonderful addition to our community, and I hope it remains well-maintained. read more

I am quickly becoming one of those people that nerd out about Trader Joe's. Biggest wins, the parking lot and the prices. It's easy to get to, and quality items that change with the season that won't break the bank. At a time when groceries are at an all time high, it's convenient to have a place where I can buy things that can easily be transformed into a variety of meals. Add bonus items like fresh flowers and economy priced wine and beer, what's not to love? read more

I wasn't completely sold on this new Trader Joe's location just yet, but I do love that it's the first one planted in New Orleans proper. For nearby residents, it's more convenient than driving to Metairie. I stopped by just three days after opening, and it showed-- an employee mentioned not everything had been stocked yet, and the shelves reflected that. The vibe felt a bit more Rouses than Trader Joe's, which caught me off guard. Still, I'm a loyal fan, and I'll definitely swing back once the "new store" kinks settle. read more

I'm a new patron to Trader Joe's new location on Tulane , which is a 2-3 block walk from my apt! The store is clean & bright ! Every isle has a variety of healthy foods! Majority of the prices are comparable to big box stores! The cashier's are so diverse and sweet! read more

While it doesn't have an extravagant wine selection or a plethora of charcuterie boards, it does have it's own style of eats readily available. The hot foods bar contains options such as gumbo, BBQ ribs, collard greens, and mac n cheese; all the delicious fixings you'd expect to find in the south. Sushi and boudin are also available and quite tasty! I'm also a fan of their chicken tenders; while chilled, just microwave and dip in that honey mustard! And of course, their crawfish/meat pies; I'm a sucker for those! I usually get one (and usually two) of them whenever I'm at a Rouses. Probably explains all the weight I've gained every time I visit the state of Louisiana. Make sure you visit any kind of Rouses when you're in Louisiana; especially this one being in the heart of NOLA. It's within walking distance of nearly all hotels.

The bakery section had very little product as did several other places. Just empty bins and shelves. Hmmmm? It is the beginning of Mardi Gras season so plenty of King Cake and specialty vodka. During the first week of January, my lifelong friend visited Plush Appeal to purchase Mardi Gras decor for her out of state home. We are natives of New Orleans and were raised with the proper etiquette and respect for ourselves, others and community. We are proud graduates of an affluent Catholic high school and our class of women has made quite a positive impact in this world collectively. With that said, as my friend was shopping she interacted with one of the sales associates and had a lovely conversation. This particular sales associate then left the area. Within minutes two other sales associates approached my friend, accused her of stealing, and when my friend attempted to clear her name and prove her innocence, these women refused. They stated she was on camera and despite my friend asking multiple times for proof and to view the cameras, she was again refused her request. Apparently, two large men were then instructed to escort her out to which she stated she felt extremely uncomfortable. Several of her friends have reached out to the store. Ms. Vee was so nice! CeeCee though ... the manager... when I called to ask for clarification she became nasty and hung up. Long story short, nothing was stolen. If that were the case why not call the police or show the video? Most importantly to note are the differences in skin tones. My friend is an upper class African American female who was seemingly targeted for the color of her skin. Take your business elsewhere!

Ordered the franchi$e (lemon pie…read moregelato, citrus cookie, lavender drizzle, violet sea salt, lemon zest, whipped cream) and the Zulu (coconut gelato, cherry drizzle, shaved dark chocolate, toasted coconut, black cherry). The sundaes themselves were amazing. I would say the Zulu is a little better but I am an avid coconut lover so I could be biased. However the espresso was terrible. So bitter. It kind of ruined the sundae I wish I didn't even pour it on. Really should work on that considering it's an affogato place.

Both were outstanding. The Bananas Foster French Toast was rich, indulgent, and packed with flavor without being overwhelmingly sweet. The bananas and sauce were the perfect complement to the French toast, making it feel like a New Orleans dessert and breakfast all in one. The Boudin Breakfast Biscuit was equally impressive. The biscuit was fresh and flaky, and the boudin added a delicious Cajun flavor that set it apart from a typical breakfast sausage. Every bite was savory, satisfying, and uniquely Louisiana. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was welcoming, and it's easy to see why Surrey's has such a loyal following. The food was fantastic, and I have to recognize the staff that really looked out for my mom while we waited. The hostess was so kind in allowing my mom to sit inside and have coffee until our table was ready. I didn't mind at all waiting outside because it was such a beautiful day, and it was just great being in New Orleans. I will say the food was astronomically delicious. If I could provide a 10 rating, I definitely would. From the French toast made with the po' boy bread to the shrimp and grits and the crab omelette, my taste buds were so happy. This place is a true gem. I can't wait to come back and try more. Such a great experience.
