I started shopping TJ's years and years ago in the Hollywood Riviera in Redondo Beach. It was a hole in the wall... Very tiny. I see it has expanded though. I don't live there any more but I do live close to a TJ's now, LOL. Great products, gearing toward healthy products and those you cannot find in the markets and easy to shop in stores. I loved their Black Forest Ham which was so delicious. Sadly they don't carry it any more. One thing about there wines, so many!! If ever you're unsure of which wine to pick, ask one of the sales people. There is always someone there who knows their wines and can help you find what you want. These people have always been helpful and happily so. Also their coffees... Unsure, ask. They will help you on that. And I love how they stand behind what they sell with no questions asked. Don't get me wrong I love Trader Joe's (I go there a couple of times a week)....but what is up with parking? It seem almost every single TJ store I've been at all throughout Southern California, parking is a problem. Also most store layouts are pretty small and the aisles are usually packed with lots of people blocking with their carts. I'm usually holding a basket for quick ninja moves dodging around these seemingly confused folks. I work with a list, I know where everything's at and I'm outta there in less than 20 mins. I love their product selection however I hate when they discontinue on items I fall in love with (i.e. TJ's mango chutney, a flavor combination I cannot find anywhere else and TJ's whipped moisturizing hand cream). Their cheese and nuts selection is fantastic and the prices are reasonable. I'm also in love with their dried "Just Mangos," so tasty! Bottom line I still love TJ's and there's no other grocery chain like it anywhere else. read more

I do understand it's Covid freak out but that excuse can go only so far. I feel like this location and the one on Hawthorne in Torrance are taking advantage of the situation. Specific to this location though, the employees used to be so nice, no matter what. Now they're just rude. They also, for some reason, have really long lines to get in. Once you get in you can clearly see they aren't busy. This happens no matter what time you go. This is a time where some employees have too much "power" and enjoying bossing people around. This is a large TJ's however it is in a tiny little shopping center with a SBUX, Jamba Juice, and Yogurtland and ther are only about 20 parking spots to go around. It's crazy! Park across the street at the meters to save your sanity. I went on a Thursday at 11am and it was nuts. Other than that, it has a nice selection and doesn't have a crowded feeling once you're inside. I normally don't like Trader Joe's but this one was ok. This was located in the very corner of the plaza which can be hard to spot if you're not looking for it. While there is a lot of parking around, you might have to wait for it unless you want to pay the meters in the lot next door. This Trader Joe's was small but well organized and stocked. With the employees friendlier than normal compared to what I'm used to, I was able to find the organic dried fruit that I like to buy, mostly mangos, at half the price of what I pay at other grocery stores. There seem to more organic items here and less of gluten free which they normally offer but that's ok. I was able to get what I needed and get out. read more

I can finally see why Trader Joe's has the loyal following that it does. It's all about the customer service. Shout out to Andrew who was patient with me for my many questions during my last visit. Some of my favorite products are the soy-yaki Hawaiian version, the holiday Oreo cookies and the frozen meals. Got to love the samples, the coffee is always good. Some Trader Joe's can be difficult to park and this one had plenty of parking. It may be busy and crowded but there's a reason why and it's worth it. read more

Trader Joes is like a mini (somewhat) organic store. You have some unique choices that you might not get at a typical grocery store. Lots of options for ready to cook meals in a bag. Different ethnic meals from seafood, mexican, oriental, mexican, and american. I had bought sushi once here and its decent. Not fresh as you would eat at a local sushi bar in Redondo but at least its approx $4 for a set of 6 pcs. I think the parking is a bit tricky as the one right in front of the store is limited. This location is not quite as large to the typical Traders elsewhere. However, you can get what you need at this place as the typical things you would normally get a regular sized Traders. Also, this Traders is a bit more crowded than elsewhere possibly due to the smaller store size. read more

Alot of the time I've come in I have had Alan he is knowledgeable about the store, and went above and beyond to look for something for me and found it! He is very friendly always says hi to me and makes conversation and actually asks how I'm doing. Now that this is my neighborhood TJs and closer to me than the Manhattan Beach location, I figured I would start coming to this one... My major gripe with the MB TJs was the parking lot. Tiny, cramped, one way in/out, terrible logistics...well the RB TJs is worse. Tiny, cramped, one way in/out, and terrible logistics but it has to serve a Starbucks, Verizon store, Opometrist, Yogurtland, AND a TJs. Wow...what kind of sick individual designs these parking lots? I imagine some kind of evil mastermind plotting behind a desk while stroking a white cat, just laughing "Mu-hahahahahaha" while we all try to park and go bonkers and kill each other. There's my reason for only 4 stars. Otherwise TJs is a pleasant experience with friendly staff, great selection, plenty of healthy options, top-notch produce and cheeses, and lots and lots of wines. Prices are pretty fair, the stores are clean, and the items are pretty much always in-stock. If you can get a spot, and get through the parking mayhem, it's the usual good shopping trip...big IF though... ENJOY! read more

I just went and purchased a sushi platter tray (not the 6 piece) for lunch. This was so disappointing! It only came with 1 soy sauce packet and the rice was hard as a rock. Why only 1 when it has so much more sushi than the smaller version? The smaller version comes with one. When I tried to eat a piece, my plastic fork couldn't even get through the hard rice. I was so bummed about this lunch! The sticker on the outside said best purchased by 11/11 so I thought it would still be good but I was wrong. Don't waste your money on there sushi and just go to a sushi restaurant. read more

All the Trader Joe's I've been to thus far always have friendly employees. And this location is no exception; they are helpful and attentive. They always spark up a good converstaion when you are checking out, but the process is so fast, that the conversation has to come to a quick end! Either they are fast and efficient, or I do not buy enough groceries! The store is smaller than other TJ's that I've been to, but there is still a lot of variety. The very big minus is the insufficient amount of parking in the plaza. Trader Joe's shares a lot with Jamba Juice, Yogurtland, Starbucks, La Salsa & several other businesses. If you don't find parking here, you would have to park on the street or in the lot across the street, which costs money. However, it's close to my apartment, so if I can control my spending here, which is hard most of the times, then I could walk! read more

I love Trader Joe's but every time I come here, parking is terrible! That is the number one thing I dread when I decide to go to Riviera Village. Sometimes I get lucky and don't have to wait long while other times I am circling the place for what seems like forever. I suppose I could park further away but I don't want to have to carry my groceries that far. Aside from the parking issue, I would say this Trader Joe's is smaller compared to some of the other locations I've been to in Manhattan Beach. Best Trader Joes in South Bay. Why? Because it's in the beautiful Riviera village of course! But in all seriousness, it really is up there in terms of friendliness, helpful employees, and positivity. Smaller than alot of other TJ's, which I actually prefer. The "Loop" parking lot is ridiculous; which is why I try to walk to this store whenever it's possible. I have had to dig past expired products to find a fresh... that's not good to have more expired than fresh on the shelf of any product. All you could ever ask for in a Local Supermarket. Complimentary snack and coffee. Great wine selection. As I live around the block I don't have to deal with the chaotic parking situation. I am a long time resident of the South Bay. In fact I try not to leave the South Bay all that often if I can help it but I will admit that I do not make it to South Redondo all that often. That was until I started taking Pilates on the border of Redondo Beach & Rancho Palos Verdes. I was so stoked when I was driving around my new found Pilates studio and found this Trader Joe's nestled into a small little strip mall. I knew I had to do some food shopping after class was over and was so stoked that I could visit TJ's without having to drive to another location. The strip mall that this Trader Joe's is located in offers a small parking lot but if it is full you will find subterranean as well as plenty of 'free' & 'metered' street parking. I had found 'free' street parking prior to going to class so my vehicle was staying put. I walked into this Trader Joe's and found it be extremely clean and quite empty. The fresh fruit & vegetables looked as if they had just been picked off of the vine. I am a huge organic banana fan and probably go through 3-4 bananas a day so when I go banana shopping I always go to Trader Joe's. At this TJ's I was able to find large organic green bananas that will stay fresh for days and sometimes even weeks so I loaded up. The TJ's price of $0.29 for organic bananas simply cannot be beat by anyone in the area. It seems like all the Trader Joe's have the same layout plan as to not confuse the patrons and this Trader Joe's was no different. I was able to find everything else I needed. As I walked around the store I was asked on several occasions but very helpful employees if I needed any help, I said I did not. When it came time to check out all of the cash registers were manned which I found pretty rad especially because the crowd was not at all heavy. I was in and out quickly. During my checkout the cashier was nice, I found everyone working that day to have a smile on their faces which is always an added cherry on top. This is my local TJ's so I gotta give them some love - They try to "Be All that You Can Be" even though, as endlessly referred to, the parking is waaaaaahhhh! +1 Star - Java-a-brewin. Always piping hot java in the far back (walk straight in, immediate left, walk all the way to back wall by the double exit steel doors). Oh and also not just half-n-half but sugar, agave, and sometimes a little nom nom sweetener extra (sugar grinder, stevia, brown sugar) depending on what was tasted. + 1 Star - Nicest staff EVER. So the sweet yoga teacher from Spectrum, Keith, is a checker here. He said it took him 6 months to get the job! And he's so nice! But everyone here is so nice. I am sure that on and off people have their grouchy days, but it's just a pleasure here to be flirted up by the checkout fellas, chatted up by the mangers, sauced up by the tasting persons. + 1 Star - Tasters. The staff seems to rotate this position, so that I often see a checker as a taster later that week. I appreciate the portion size (small but savory) and that they don't bitch at you if you want a, uh, second taste (who, me?). - 1 Star - Parking. I won't go into details, but it's gory. + 1 Star - Other good stuff nearby. You are in the Riv, so you got the world at your fingertips. But in that very lot, you have Yogurtland, Starbucks, Jamba, Wahoo's Fish Tacos, a cute beauty store (see my review! Beauty Loops http://www.yelp.com/biz/beauty-loops-redondo-beach) and even a Verizon store (um, ok). And then there is the whole Riviera area around. So let's be positive about this - and say keep an open mind about the parking. +1 Star - Restrooms. Not just one but TWO and they are nice. In front door, hard left, another hard left just past the very end of the flowers (where the tea and java is). Spacious, clean, and with powerful hand dryers that will flail the skin off your knuckles! Trader Joe's is hands down my favorite grocery store. The decoration, taste of products and artwork is outstanding. I've been to them all over the west Coast, and this one happened to stand out the months we lived by. The care by the workers there was amazing. This is not my neighborhood TJ's, so I have not had to deal with the parking. I can definitely see why it would be a terrible issue, but last night we pulled right into a spot. Was at Yogurtland and realized I needed some goods I had forgotten. The employees quickly directed me to the items I needed. The quality of the store is high as usual. My new favorite item is the BBQ chicken salad. It's a quick and tasty lunch for me that is at least semi-healthy. The main thing I needed was fruit leathers for my baby. They are the only thing that keeps him from having meltdowns. They are like baby crack. Non-parents. Stock up on these suckers when you have kids. You will see. read more

I've been a VERY loyal TJ's customer for years. I almost never shop anywhere else. I don't know if it's just this store or what, but the last 5 or so times we've shopped here we've gotten really low quality products. (but I do have to say-- the employees here are great.) The last few times we've shopped here half of our groceries will be spoiled by the next day. We bought about 4 bags of lettuce, and by the next morning they were ALL starting to rot. I looked for the 'sell by' date, and they were conveniently torn off. We also bought a lot of other produce that didn't last more than 48 hours (at least $75 worth of 'fresh' produce) We bought some baked goods as well. They were moldy 2 days later, which happened to be their exact 'sell by' date. We didn't get to eat any of them. I also bought a bag of the same dog food I've been buying for a while now and my dog got food poisoning from it. That was a hefty vet bill all from a $10 bag of kibble. I'm really disappointed. I've always loved Trader Joe's quality and their customer service, but TJ's seems to be quickly declining. read more

This is my neighborhood TJ's. One happiness in my life comes from living: a) so close to the ocean b) walking distance to a TJ's I do get lazy and drive here sometimes. that's usually when I have to do a lot of shopping and don't feel like carrying lots of bags down the street. parking is ample both in the lot and across the street with the meters. this place is ALWAYS busy...and in this place seems to be this strange phenomenon, unlike anything I've ever experienced..I'll set the scene...I walk in, no lines, maybe one to two people on each line with small baskets, one to two items- in my head I think- wow, its not busy I'll be in and out quick!. Then, go down the first isle, pick up some bread, cereal coffee. get to the eggs, milk...all of a sudden..people..go to check the free snack of the day, the wine, the new items...PEOPLE...Frozen, yogurt..PEOPLE PEOPLE...chips, dried fruit, pasta..PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE...lettuce, fresh veggies, pizza crust, cheese...PEOPLE PEOPLE ...then, hit the front of the store and the lines are 6-7 people deep all with screaming kids and carts full of stuff. all in a matter of 20 minutes. I just don't understand how this happens. happens consistently. the mystery of RB TJ's. never to be solved. read more

Their parking lot is tight and always busy. I got their chocolate covered potato chips, an idea I had come up with when was a kid. It was just as I imagined- a perfect combo of salty and sweet. I saw my favorite flower which only blooms for a few months during summer- peonies. My day couldn't have been better. It's the simple things in life... Really! read more

I am having a tough time with corporate. I bought some Wildbrine sauerkraut at this Trader Joe's, and broke my tooth. They told me to contact Wildbrine, which I did, and Wildbrine offered me some free sauerkraut. It cost me over $ 5,000 for a root canal, cap, and lost wages. Trader Joe's and Wildbrine just point fingers. They don't care. Stay away from Trader Joes and Wildbrine!!! read more

I love Trader Joe's and I love THIS Trader Joe's. Back home in NY I had to drive at least a half hour to find one so I truly enjoy having one so close by to my house. Not to mention there are plenty others in the nearby vicinity. The staff at this location is always friendly and always strike up a conversation with me at the check-out line. They make me feel like they really do care how my day is going. I find that most of their stuff is pretty affordable. They have the best priced brown rice pasta that I have come across. I love their pre-made salad and meals, great for in a pinch. Plus they're tasty! Most importantly, there are always free samples being given out! Win! Okay, yes it is a little small, but whatever, no big. They still have a great selection of products. You could say that the parking is a hassle but also, whatever. It's Riviera Village. You're better off just using the metered parking and what's a couple of quarters, no? read more

Every Trader Joe's has its own personality, and this one is frenetic. The parking situation is a mess, and you tend to be stressed out on entering. Once inside, there is not enough space for all the customers and their shopping carts, and you are back in a traffic jam. And the check out staff seems to slower than other Trader Joe's. This is the right store but in the wrong space. To me, it is worth the drive to PCH and Crenshaw to the next nearest Trader Joe's to avoid all this hassle. At the same time, the hassle comes from doing a lot of business. The locals love it. read more

This is my local Trader Joe's, and I love it here! I come in at least once a week, usually more. Luckily I am within walking distance so I don't have to worry about parking, but there is a huge metered lot right by it, so as long as you don't come during lunchtime (it is filled with the lunch crowd I think) it's just a few cents and a tiny walk. Service is good here, very friendly and helpful. And I almost always find something new/interesting to try. My only complaint is sometimes they are out of some of my favorite items, but I guess that's life. And if I let them know they are very helpful with suggestions and offering to call a nearby store for me. Trader Joe's has become my preferred grocery store due to the good prices, healthy selection of food, and delicious treats they carry. read more

Since I'm the duke (currently, at least - I know everyone's going to be gunning for me now), figured I should write a review. Pretty much your typical TJ's, complete with minuscule parking lot. Not their fault since they share the space with several other businesses, but parking can be a pain. Of course, if the lot is full, or you don't want to wait ten minutes for someone who really shouldn't be a licensed driver to back out of their space, there's a huge metered lot across the street. Bonus for having the Unibroue sampler pack (La Fin du Monde, Maudite, Don de Dieu and Trois Pistoles) in stock nearly all of the time. There's a Yogurtland in the same strip mall. read more
